Generally happy with your new Xperia Arc? So do I;-) But...!!! I know the phone is quite fresh, but it has some bloopers, that I have noticed, which I want to have repaired as fast as the next bulid from SE arrive to me:
-repair touch bug ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034319 )
-reduce batrery consumption
- it opened web browser instead of messages ..wtf (reboot helped)
- add make call option in message app
- no more sins I remember;-)
Plz add your suggestions to make this phone better than it is now;-) Hope that SE notice this post, and also hope to upgrade 3.0.A.2.181 soon

1. The screen flickers when brightness is set to ~60% or lower (especially when displaying mostly white). Fix this and also add option to disable autobrightness.
I have also youtube screw up. Sometimes when I browse comments it frozes and removing battery is necessary:-/

1. I would like very much a better calendar app. This is my first Android phone and I think even the calendar of my previous SE C510 was better. Didn't expect that.
2. The contact management can be improved too. I miss the tabbed contact editting interface of previous SE phones.
Please SE keep the excellent existing functionality of previous phones!

I noticed that once. This happens when you use too much back button and especially when sending sms not directly from sms app.

Actually I was surprised by this because I think Calendar and Contact management on Arc is excellent.
I want my mediascape back =(
And wma file support =(
I don't have the phone yet (waiting for LT15a) but here goes...
1.add smart dialing.
2.power control in notification bar.
3.theme change (even if it's just the color. not the biggest fan of blue on a phone.)
4.smoother browser
5.release LT15a already!
That would make me happy

Well maybe I exaggerated a little bit, i'm still getting used to this new exciting gadget
But in the Calendar you can't really get a good overview of upcoming days because you always have to scroll through the whole day/week hours. The default view when opening the calendar app is always the day view. The month view could display some more info instead of basic square blocks.
For the contact management, again you have to scroll a lot when editing and viewing a contact. A solution may be adding tabs that group information? Something I also miss at the moment is the birthday entry. In my previous SE phones I could enter a birth date and then it asked if I wanted to add it to the calendar. Now I can't even add birthday info.
Despite these (small) annoyances I think it is still one of the best smartphones currently on the market.

Those run as services, so no need to actually "close" them, because they're closed. They launch when you check notifications. In any case, just disable notifications from Twitter and Facebook; I have them totally disabled and just check manually. Leave WhatsApp the way it is, it doesn't consume anything and works like a charm.

Nice idea,
just a suggestion:-
I hope someone start organizing the thread so we have a list of all bugs/misses in the very first post and each one with a link to the corresponded post
For example
Bugs
1. screen flicker when brightness is set to 60% or lower. ( post #2 )
2. Messages mislink the messaging app sometimes. ( post #4, post #5 )
Suggestions
1. Improving the Contact app, including
- A. adding birthdays and anniversaries with automatically adding or updating these in the calendar app.
- B. adding smart dialer. ( post #9 )
- C. when sync. with facebook or any other service try to use higher res. profile image.

Yup, you're right.
By the way, on the "Battery drain" thread, a few users have tested and confirmed that the camera continues to drain battery a lot even after the camera app is closed.
I also tested and seems that using a 3rd party camera app is the only workaround. Tested with Vignette, took some pics, let the phone idle... but no more abnormal battery drain.

No, sorry, i don't, but in terms of better twitter apps, have you looked at SWIFT ? It's been the new rising star in twitter clients on android.
On a second note: Since I have not yet received my Desire, could you pleas post either screenshots or a list of settings/preferences that DO show for Friendfeed? I ask specifically about setting intervals for refreshing the stream. Does it provide separate refresh rates for each of the feeds, or just one main one, or none at all?
I ask because this is predictably going to be the biggest battery drainer on the Desire, so I am just getting a leg up before getting my device :;
Sorry - i spoke too son and not even checked out:
http://levelupstudio.com/touiteur
looks like a great twitter client -- and what i just found out is it supports the "twitlonger" API, which makes it, to me all the more useful.

Why twitlonger?

Ok, my wife is the one with the Desire, but from using latest version on my Hero.
Just go to Settings> Accounts & Sync
Click on Twitter, then simply click on 'Remove Account'
That will remove all twitter from FriendFeed.
Then simply use whatever other app you want, either by clicking on the app icon to start it, or by installing the app's widget if it has one.

And any comments on GPS use? People have been complaining it doesn't pickup signal very well, and the cursor hops.

ill make a video with those questions, but i can tell you now. the samsung widgets like the feeds one which has twitter facebook myspace causes lag. the friends one causes lag, the rest is ok.
I disabled those that caused the lag and everything was fine.
The GPS i have had no problems as of yet.
Thank you!
I have never used an android phone, so I just had a few more questions.
Is there a way to sync 3 email accounts (hotmail, gmail, outlook) into the one inbox? So from the home screen I can click on my mail account and it will display one inbox for all my emails, or do I have to click on each inbox seperately? Also, is there a widget, or a way to preview email from the home screen?
Im not liking samsungs overlay and im concerned by the lag its causing.

The gmail how i have it setup is with the gmail client stock to android.
But if you use the other email client for exchange, hotmail, yahoo etc. All those could be in one inbox. Meaning you click the email app and you see all the emails from all three account there. You would be able to distinguish them if u look on the left u see colors showing blue for hotmail, green for yahoo etc.
And yes there are widgets to show a preview of an email on desktop.

How do you disable them?
is there any way of getting the SMS/Phone notification in lock screen to tell you who has called without opening the phone to see? ie my Iphone will tell me i have a new SMS but also that it was from "chris" or whoever...
im also concerned about 8.28 and the 6 second delay to return back to home screen, the whole phone seemed a little laggy which im hoping is due to just launching the LauncherPro app and the phone readjusting ?
i have asked this in another thread but if anyone could test the game emulators and see if they actually work that would be awesome....

yep.. it auto updated this morning for me.. and its much nicer feel to it.. also like the little photo slider at the bottom.
wish they would implement facebook chat though

FB chat through the AIM client seems to work fine for me. But yes, it would be nice if we didn't have to run another app alongside the proper FB one.
Has anyone tried syncing contacts through Facebook rather than Facebook for HTC Sense? Since this update I have two Facebook accounts in the Accounts and Sync settings. If I try to use the new one it doesn't seem to work. It offers a new contact link but doesn't have pictures or anything attached to it.

while we wait for them to put chat on the app in the mean time download go chat the ui is good it looks like google talk
I can't believe items in the notification menu still take you to the mobile version of the site in your browser and don't stay within the app.
Apart from that, I like it.
Partial Wake usage withe the new 1.3 client
Check the "Partial Wake Usage" (*#*#4636#*#*): with Facebook client 1.3, no contact sync and autoupdate on "never" i have 100% usage (on facebook app)

Yep, I've just uninstalled the update.
Would this be because of the 'new notification implementation'? I did, for the first time ever, actually receive a notification whilst I had it installed!
It's using way to much of the cpu, too bad since I really liked the update but I need to uninstall it aswell Battery is more important!
Do people think a fix will come out for this? Surely this is an error, it uses way too much battery!

It has to be some sort of unforeseen thing. I would hope to see an update to fix this soon.
Mind you, I'm not overly impressed with the new features- was expected something far bigger and better.

Yes I have already mailed the developer

is there any fix for the battery-usage-of-death issue ?
http://github.com/jubishop/Facebook-for-Adobe-AIR
Source code for Facebook client for Adobe Air
We have air for Froyo now.
Is it possible to compile into android air apk for a GOOD Facebook client?
For the love of God, please.
technically if it were developed using adobe's software tools and is sourced for AIR it shouldn't be hard to port in to an .apk i guess we shall see...
Have you actually tried Facebook for Air? It's just a news feed and status bar. No other features. It is worse than Android Facebook.
Plus, AIR apps must be optimized for mobile. This one wouldn't be too hard to optimize if you have all the code, but it isn't just BOOM throw it into Flash CS5 and BOOM export to APK.
i was really hoping for something good out of this...facebook for android is downright HORRIBLE. I don't understand why the iphone version has not been put to use on android, considering there are more android running devices than ios.
Well, from the other apps I have converted, this should be easy.. will report back soon!
-edit
not sure if this will work as is, with the popup to login and all.. but I will try
Thanks dg

The fact that when you get a notification it takes you to the mobile site is a big issue, unless I'm missing something. That just seems like they got lazy in their design because you can view all of your updates manually. Also a lack of IM feature also kind of sucks. It's got a nice look to it, but the iphone facebook app is much better.

i think facebook is just doomed for android lol
The biggest gripe I have is previously on my Dream(G1 for AT&T Canada) they ported the nexus facebook app over- which is the same app with a few more features. They had the ability to Sync your pictures/updates with contacts in your phone. It worked like the official twitter app works. On our phone its just plane broken. If you uninstall-reinstall the app and go through the setup it will give you a "finish" button after signing in the first time. If you hit your back button on the touchpad you will see the contact sync. Sad thing though is its just broke. If you Go to your accounts sync in settings you will see the SNS setings up top then the Facebook down below your Gmail. If you click on it though nothing happens- on my Dream it went back into the facebook app's sync settings.
I also agree with the other points people have brought up on no comments on pics etc. The app will eventually be updated for the Galaxy but until then we just have to live with crap. I decompiled the app back in the day and wanted to modify it a little bit but never got around to actually doing it. If I was to modify the Official Android app, would this violate copyrights? Is it based under GNU licensing? I have seen "Colored" versions of the Official app in the market and wondered if they were violating terms by selling a black version of the exact same app? Anyone care to shed some light?

So youre telling me you see this: (pictures are in order according to my post on how to get there)
http://wtfokc.com/sef****/0.pnghttp://wtfokc.com/sef****/2.pnghttp://wtfokc.com/sef****/3.png
This is what happens on my Cog2.2 B7. I reinstalled fresh, get the first sign in, then I get "Finish". If you hit your back button you then get the Sync options. This function however doesnt work for me and hasnt on any of the Rom's Ive tried so far on teh captivate. I have read a lot on it and it appears to be a problem on all the Galaxy devices. If yours is working, I'd like to know how?
Only thing I can think is you have your SNS settings setup? Those are the ones in Account/Sync options at the Top -> Facebook, Myspace, Twitter. If so, they will auto sync pictures and junk for you- however it loses links very often- or did for me in previous versions of cog. I would get wall posts and pics in my contacts.. then next day I'd only get twitter, if I got any at all. Also my contacts would lose thier pictures and wouldnt let me re-add or associate them again. I would try over and over to reconnect the contacts to FB and couldnt unless I totally removed the account and reset it. This hap'd multiple time for me. It was rather craptastic syncing and aggravating..so I stopped using the built in SNS accounts all together and just use the official apps now. Only downfall is Facebook's sync doesnt work, twitter's however does.
UPDATE FYI: As far as I can tell from what I am hearing, this update is the same as the one in SOAK right now. I do not know if this is true, but the version numbers add up. Once the update goes live, we will see what happens.
I figured I would put this little change guide up for some of those who are on the fence about updating. So far I have updated and couldn't be happier. I will continue to update this when I find a new change or feel like going into more detail on some of these items.
Changes in 2.3.4
- Revamped UI: New MotoBlur, Different Color Scheme, New Icons
- New Apps: Rich Location, New Tasks App, Music Store, Help Center, Mobile HotSpot
- Updated Apps: Gallery App, Camera App, Camcorder App, Email App, Task Manager, Text Messaging App, Music App, Calendar App
- Profiles option: Choose between Everyday, Work, and Weekend
- New Settings: Media Audio Effects, SD Card Notifications, In-Pocket Detection, Unknown Sources and others
Motoblur -
- UI: The update implements the New Motoblur that has been seen on a few other phones. Included in this UI update is the ability to use multiple profiles. The Menu Dock has changed along with some locations of settings and menus.
We Also have some new Icons for several programs such as the Internet Brower. The Transition screens and the lock screen effect has also changed. When you turn off the screen now, it acts like the Gingerbread animation (CM7). The apps drawer also has sorting features now via a drop down menu.
Update: New feature added to the Notification Bar. You can now remove individual notifications from the list without affecting the rest of the notifications.
New Apps -
- Rich Locations: A new app similar to Google Maps that gives you local places, couples, and even local singles (match.com). You can even view local singles profiles.
- New Tasks App: Included is a tasks app that is rather quick and easy to use. Gives the option to send notifications to the task bar, and persistant reminders. Several different options for priority. No sync to google tasks though.
- Music Store: Well this one is rather obvious and if you don’t know how to use an app store or music store, please return your phone and purchase a dumb phone.
- Help Center: Guided Tours, Tips and tricks, User guide and FAQS.
- Mobile Hotspot: I have not tested this one, but from the menu options you are able to manage the hotspot information and the actual devices allowed to connect by typing in their mac addresses.
Updated Apps -
- Gallery App: Now shows Facebook photos, Camera Roll, My Library, Online Photos from Facebook. New Layout.
- Camera App: Changed the buttons to match the rest of MotoBlur
- Camcorder App: The HD video can now record more than 30 minutes at a time (using the full size of the storage medium), extra click to turn on the LED lights.
- Email, Calendar, and Text Messenger: Just UI improvements
- Task Manager: Seems to have small improvements, but basically the same as before with just a UI revamp
- Music App: Similar Changes as the Camera App. However there is now an option that allows Moto to identify your music and send “anon” info about your music preferences to Moto.
Multiple Profiles-
- Profiles: You now have three profiles to choose from (work, Everyday, and Weekends). As far as I can tell the same ringtones, silent settings, and what not apply to all three profiles and can not be individually set for each profile. It looks as if the Home Screens are the only things that change with the profile (widgets, background, app shortcuts).
The widgets in multiple profiles along with any live wall paper may contribute to battery drain similar to using multiple launcher. I have not tested this as I need my phone and do not want to waste battery testing it when I am still using it. If anyone wants to give it a go and post their results, please do so.
New Settings-
- Media Audio Settings: Multiple settings that include bass boost. May have been on the Froyo version but I have never seen them.
- SD Card Notifications: You can finally turn off the damned sound notification when your SD card is added or removed and when you boot the phone.
- In-Pocket Detection: It locks the phone when you put it in your pocket.
- Unknown Sources Checkbox: Yup it’s finally here and you can now check it and install the amazon app store without having to root your phone.
- Windows Media Sync: Allows you to choose where to sync your media from your PC.
- Secure Network Notification: You can now be notified when a secure network is available
- Peer to Peer (Ad-Hoc) Channel: Choose a channel to setup a Adhoc network.
- Text Message Reply: Gives the option to turn off the Send a text message to a phone caller.
- Contacts Settings: Allows you to change which contacts are visable. Rather nice if you ask me
Updates:
- SD Card Data Encryption: Finally a feature we all wanted!
- Device Encryption: No more police officers looking at your phone...at least in some districts.
- Blue tooth Bypass: Allows you to bypass your bluetooth device and use the voice commands on the phone vs. the bluetooth.
- Advanced IPSec VPN: Not entirely certain if it works or not. We all know it didn't before, so if anyone can test it and let me know, that would be great.

For the most part, rich locations is an rss feed app mixed with a gps mapping system that gives you local information such as restaurants, coffee shops, local singles ads, and coupons from various websites such as yelp, match.com and so on.
Sort of like places on google maps but with a twist. I doubt I will use it often around town, but it would come in handy when I was on vacation and what not.

Guys, just to be sure, does this work with the Bell atrix, or is it only at&t?
I better find a gallery replacement.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.

As far as I know this is for the At&T version only.

Actually I rather like the new gallery. Seems to be fairly stable for a stock gallery app.
would like to add that this includes the "new" version of the Forest Live wallpaper, complete with blue Gingerbread theme to it and if you tap on a blank space, a pop-up will appear with the current location and temperature! Tap TWICE to go directly to AccuWeather to see the full forecast! someone must have read my mind because that was exactly what I knew was missing from the original one that came with the Atrix in 2.2....
I don't want facebook photos. I want contact image sync and nothing else from the gimmick motoblur is.

I am enjoying my update for what it's worth.
New Blur!
I have to say, I kind of liked Motoblur's functionality in Froyo, but it was just so damn slow... The new Motoblur (or whatever they want to call it now) is finally usable, and looks very nice
Some parts seem a bit slower now (e.g., the integrated webpart in Pulse), but still very smooth.
I don't regret updating - finally a Moto Android worth having!
it's awesome.
I am really liking the new screen off animation.
Anyone's Timer section of the "Alarm & Timer" app not working?
Still has the same crappy selection of ring and notification tones.
