i got an unmodded hd2 6.5 stock hd2. how can i install android on the sd card easily? i dont want complicated steps. thanks.

Not to be a smart a$$ but why say the easiest to install. You install SD card builds the exact same way. You just download the build exstractcthe files from the zip file to a folder if it does not create a folder and then copy the folder to the root of your SD card. Then open the folder with File Explorer on your HD2 and open the folder you copied to your SD card and touch on CLCAD first then touch on HARET. Not really hard at all.

I think he means because on some builds, like the DHD or the MIUI you actually have to edit the config file to reflect how you're booting (haret, magldr sd, nand) and sometimes you have edit the startup.txt. You might also have to change the gps location and once the build is loaded modify some settings.
The above mentioned CM7 build you just load clcrd then haret like you said, the only thing being if you want the stock 240 resolution you have to replace one folder in the root folder

i extracted to sd card
took out the usb cable
went in my storage card, opened the folder
clicked on clrcad
clicked on haret and started the load
now its reading
acr=### fl=####raac=##
The first i've tried took me about 1h, but I had to install everything Mgldr, CWM, etc. ..
Are you installing SD version or nand?

im pretty sure my sd card, i went through it to click HaRET
Which rom did you download or trying to install?
I haven't done sd version since nand was released.
Do you need to use windows at all?

ive tried shubCRAFT_v1.5_STOCK.rar
and ive tried HyperDroidV1.5.zip
Can you link me the way you did it maybe a quick step guide and a file download pleasE?
It's not supposed to take more than 2 hours, 20 mins max.
Try either of the following, a combination, or all of the following:
format your sd
rextract the android folder form the build you downloaded, into the root of your sd card
Try a different blank data image (if the build requires you to have a data image in there, some builds make their own)
If it's the case of where it makes its own, go into the android folder and delete that incomplete data image
Is it just the build you are using now that doesn't work, or does every other build give you the same problem?
Maybe you need HSPL installed, iunno
You got the latest radio?
Tried a different winmo rom?

ok im sorta lost ill try and make sense of everything, bare with me
how do i download to the root of my sd card? Maybe using nand way would be more easier

Im running 6.5 on the hd2 right now, havent tried anything else except android
Nand is the way if you do not need windows.

3) Android Build :
Download your chosen Android build on your computer.
Extract / Unzip the folder on the computer
Now copy into the Root of your SD card.
Folder should be labelled "Android"
Once copied into SD card you will see 2 files: CLRCAD.exe and HaRET.exe which have to be run to boot into Android.
There will also be other folders / files (Android Apps, initrd.gz, system.ext2, rootfs.img, zimage, startup.txt, ts-calibration) please leave them as they are.

Ok, i looked a bit and need to solidify this
I have a friend with an hd2. I have experience rooting and doing roms and themes on android.
I d/l MDJ_gingerbread_hd2_v 1.0 rar folder and the instructions seem quite simple.
am i missing anything? does the hd2 need to be rooted or anything before doing the install? didnt seem to mention that in the instructions.

Its an SD build which doesn't require rooting as d build should come pre-rooted...All u have to do is...
**Optional**Flash a custom WinMo ROM which has better support for SD android builds (this requres HSPL)...
Copy the included "data.img" file into the android folder..
Copy the android folder which now contains the "data.img" file onto d root of ur SD card.
Restart WinMo and immediately navigate to the Android folder on ur sd card.
Tap "clrcad.exe"...this shows no visible response but it actually did stuff.
Then tap "Haret.exe"....Android should then boot..
P.S. Running android off SD is so yesterday...u might want to consider taking WinMo off entirely to give android better performance...Hwever, if u don't then visit the android sd dev threads right here on xda for more build options..
My friend bought an Hd2 reaaaally cheap but with the volume keys pretty much dead, and i've been trying to put the SD android files and the rootfs on the ROOT of his SD card since i can't even set the Android SD folder, because obviously, it has no way of doing so.
It boots, to an extend, as it only gets to the slpash screen of the rom itself and stays there forever.
The question is:
Should i just throw the whole content of the "ANDROID" folder on the ROOT of the SD card? or should i just put the zImage outside of the folder and let it boot?

When i put it in the android folder, it says K:/zImage cannot be found, meaning it's set for the root, but once i dump em on the root it just wont boot up.

i can't flash anything man, my up and down keys won't work, if i could, i would have flashed it to NAND a long time ago.
Copy the whole android folder to your sd card ..
and COPY zImage & initrd.gz to the root of your sd card.
It should boot now.

There is no need to installing anything. Just download a SD android rom, unpack this one to a root folder on your sd. Run clrcad.exe and than haret.exe.

can you please send me the site with the sd android rom to download it and explain me what is a root folder?
Go to the android sd development section and find an sd build that you might like (it will be trial and error until you find the best for you)
placing android build on sd root ... Simply means place the folder you will extract (normally simply named android) onto your sd card all by itself (no sub folder). so that when you have extracted the file you downloaded and placed that folder on your sd card and NOT into a subfolder it will be located /sdcard (the root or main directory) ... Not /sdcard/android/ics4.03 blablabla (notice this directory has sub directories and isn't on the root (or main directory) of the sd card.
Hope this helps ... If you need further advice/help please please please simply read the stickies in the sd android section (the "stickies" are the first 3-5 posts that will outline guides, tutorials, etc)

I'm using AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7.2
A week ago I installed also
NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9-SD V1.5
Both seems working well. AmeriCanAndroid is probably bugsfree, but NexusHD2 looks better and consumes less battery.
I tried looking at many guides on installing android on sd but all require me to run two exe files (clrcad.exe and haret.exe) from file manager , now here i get confused, i think they are meant to be run from wm6.5 file manager , aint they??
But my problem is i have ICS on NAND , no WM6.5 , so how can i just install gingerbread on sd card and keep my ICS on NAND.
And I use magloader ...

You must download a sd card rom and place the "Android" folder in the root of your sd card. In MAGLDR, you must go to services and set directory of androidsd. Choose the "Android" folder you placed when asked. Voila. Whenever you need to boot into GB from the sd card, power off your phone. turn it on while keeping the power button pressed. When loaded in MAGLDR, choose boot android sd. This is it

Just download the desired SD ROM, place it on the root of your SD card, boot into MAGLDR, go to Services>Boot Sources>AD SD Dir (at least I think this is the correct path, you should be able to figure it out logically anyway) and select the folder on which your ROM is. Then go to boot AD SD.
