So my wife and I both have Evo's. Both of them running DamageControl's ROM. My battery life will be down to about 45% (or less) after about 4-7 hours. Hers will be between 94-97%. This is with not really using the phone except to answer a call or two. Everything is turned on, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, Sync, GPS location, etc. All the social and Sprint apps have been removed except for Sprint Navigation. No CPU controlling tools are running, such as SetCPU or OverclockWidget. Though Advanced Task Manager was running in the background to kills apps every 30 minutes, but I don't think that had much of a bearing on it.
At first I though my battery was defective. It was nuts that her phone was lasting so long and mine was being sucked dry. She wouldn't let me take the battery out of her phone to test, so I started looking at what the differences are between our phones. The only main difference between our phones is the number of apps installed.
So based on that guess, I used Titanium Backup to backup all my apps, then proceeded to remove just about all the apps on my phone. Especially any app that might use the network. Though I left wireless tether as that was installed on her phone as well.
I charged up the phone to 100%, left it unplugged overnight, and after seven hours, it still had 98% charge left. So it was an app(s) that ended up killing my battery life. Now I'm using Titanium Backup to start restoring a few apps at a time until I can find out which apps that are causing the large battery drain.
Very good read. I'll be trying this out as well.

Like Google said at their I/O conference, "if you can't get a day out of your android device then something is wrong with it".
Wow - sounds like a great experiment. Eagerly awaiting your findings.

There's an app called Systempanel. Even the free version will tell you in an instant how much cpu each running process has been using since it was loaded into memory.
I also use it as a task manager. Since it doesn't need to be running in the background like some other popular task managers.
Added back about 60% of my apps and still have excellent battery life. Only lost 3% over last night while sleeping. I mostly concentrated on adding back apps that shouldn't access the network. I'll start adding a few apps back that might access the network and let you know the results.
My battery last over 30 hours.
Here's the proof. I also had 50% battery left.

can you let us know what apps you're running and what was re-installed and what has been re-installed as yet.
One thing that EVERYONE should do before they even begin to evaluate their battery performance is CALIBRATE THEIR BATTERY!!
Can't stress it enough, it's crucial.
And fwiw I've found beautiful widgets to be a battery hog whether you're using it or not

Exactly. We need a wiki for everything on the evo (battery, apps, ect.)
I get about 8 hours of normal usage (texting a little bit, an hour of phone calls, some camera time and streaming music for 2 hours), but as soon as I get a good replacement, I'm going to flash up a good rom.

I have had less than impressive battery life on my evo as well. I am using baked snack .7 rom which is supposed to have excellent bat life.
Looking at that list the OP posted of apps he hasn't re-installed, i am seeing that we have 4 common apks...Astro, Square, Fring and The Weather Channel.
I have a feeling it may be TWC that is eating battery...I will try uninstalling this and Fring.
I also notice that he has several live wallpapers. Having checked systempanel, the only thing that is really pushing CPUs is live wallpaper. I am also going to disable that for now.

Please keep us updated. I'm interested to hear your findings.
I use Damage also. I get good battery life. In a stock configuration, there is still one massive battery drainer on my phone, 4G. I turn that on, and battery power drops like a rock.
I had 4G on in the office. (The area around the building is 4G, but not inside. ) I had an almost full battery at 10am and 50% by 12:15pm.
FYI, I do have the radio patch installed too with Damage 3.2.
ChrisDos, this is an excellent thing that you are doing. Sometime soon, by adding an app or two at a time, you'll find the battery assassins. I appreciate you doing this, and look forward to your discoveries, especially since my phone is rooted yet. It will be wonderful to know in advance what the main culprit or culprits are so I can ditch them.
I'm basically in stock, as-shipped configuration, and with light usage I'm getting maybe 6-8 hours, less if I am active on the phone, and we know that I'm not alone.
Now we just need one of the slick developers figure out how to root the Evo in such a manner that it can be restored 100% original and undetectable. My brother can do that on his phone, don't recall the model and don't know how its done, but could be very handy in the event of a warranty issue.
Thanks again, ChrisDos!
I'm not trying to hijack the thread into a "show your battery usage" thread, but I... I... I thought that it might be useful and-- Anyways, I'm on the stock (1.32.651.1) rom from flipz; haven't found a rom that really caught my attention yet. I'm not a media whore, but this snapshot is after 3.5 hours of usage that consists of phone calls, vpn access, wireless access, gps, remote desktop, text messages, emails, web browsing, and a lot of music. Screen was taken at 44% battery life according to Spare Parts.
Thank you for doing this!

Dude.......that...is...awesome.
I've had no luck with battery. I've been playing Battery Nazi the past few days and still no luck. Three different ROMS, killing stuff every hour, only turning on the network radio when I need it...it's like being in a jail cell with a barred window that opens to a mini golf course and go-kart track. Every thing I want to do is within reach, but I just feel trapped!
Hi all,
Great that there is a XDA vega forum too now! I love my vega, especially with pauls custom rom (r6) and performance pack but there is one thing still annoying me, the battery life in standby. I already removed telephonyprovider.apk and phone.apk and at first, this seemed to work (at least for one day). However, last night my battery plummeted from 70% to 20% in the morning (9 hours standby).... Because it does not always happen, i am guessing it is some app or something that i started before i put the vega in standby. Any ideas which process/app might be the culprit? I have push email enabled BTW.
Thanks!

Hi matthijskox
If you have Spare Parts (i can't remember if this is installed by default or part of the Modaco Add-On pack), there is an option under Battery -> Partial Wake Usage to show which apps have been using batter whislt the Vega is in sleep mode. My experience is that the default mail app is a real battery hog, even when configured for manual mail retrieval. K-9 is much better, but i have not managed to get push mail working! The problem with push in general on the Vega is that wi-fi is disabled when the device sleeps, so your mail app will be trying to sync without a network connection. Twitter and Facebook apps will also try and retreive data in the background by default.
Hope this helps.

This helps.... a bit. I set it (email app, for my exchange account) to check every 30 minutes and now i lost 15% in 8 hours. Is that kinda normal?? And would it make a big difference on battery life if i let it check every 5 minutes? This would be more convenient. BTW, does the gmail app also use push? I can't find it in the settings, maybe i can improve battery life even further when i disable push for gmail as well.
Thanks!
No one else got similar battery problems? Maybe my battery is just broken. Anyway to test this?
15% over 8 hours is just under 2% per hour, thats 50 hours standby.... Seems pretty reasonable to me! Cant test mine over that length of time as I am ALWAYS using my vega but when I leave it over night it seems to do similar things to that.
How many times does everyone actually turn off their vega totally? I do it every night or every day when I'm not using it... if you leave it on standby is there any damage that can happen, especially if u forget to charge it and the battery depletes fully

Hey when i click it, it doesnt do anything, just stays the same, it doesnt switch to r/w
What about just putting it into airplane mode and still have wifi running, using SwitchPro Widget to activate wifi or something similar?
Hurray, after a full wipe and reflash (when fully charged) it appears to be OK. Lost only 10% in one night while i lost 100% (!) the night before the flash.
FYI: i found out that it was not the reflash that sorted the problem, but disbaling the SAMBA filesharing app while in standby. The SAMBA app is a server app anabling you to access your vega wirelessly via your windows PC (network share). It is great but you should not leave it running while on standby.....
Oh no, cheered too soon again, it seemed fine after the reflash and disabling samba but now i lose 50% a night again! No-one else with similar problems? I also have the calendar synced and the widget on my homescreen, could this be the culprit?
Im *think * im noticing erratic power loss. But havnt tested yet, so cant confirm.
When real life settles down ill have a test.

i have 80% battery use by mobile-standby and 6% by WLAN. if i tap on the menu-entry for mobile-standby i get the advice to turn on flightmode to save bettery. my vega doesn't have a mobile-function such as 3G or so... how can this use so much energy???
same problem here with the similar viewpad 10s. problem is i have no root or custom rom. how can i stop this damn phone function...

if u mean to delete the 2 apk files, isnt that impossible without root?
Yes, it is. You need root to access the /system/app folder and delete those files.

I keep reading on here about how either someones battery life is either awesome or great or this or that. It seems that many folks on here with great battery life are old pros at milking their phones for the best battery life possible, while others may not know the best methods for getting the optimal battery life they want.
So here are some tips for getting the battery life you want:
1) Calibrate your battery by letting if completely discharge and then charge it using the wall charger it came with. Do this at least three times so the phone has a chance to get real statistics.
Update: It is recommended that you do not do this very often as some say it could damage the battery in the long term. You should do this early on in the life of the phone as the damage if any would be minimal. This needs to be done regardless. It is the only way for the phone to get an accurate full/zero reading.
Update 2: I have found that after doing a factory reset, you need to do this step again. After a factory reset on 4.1.83 (most recent update), my battery life dropped considerably. After letting it discharge fully and then charging it with the phone off again, I was back to normal battery use.
2) Set wifi to sleep when the phone is not in use. Unless you are streaming data such as pandora or other data intensive programs with the screen off, you do not need it on (I will talk about background data in a moment for those who are going to mention that the phone still does data while it is sleeping). You can change the setting by going to Settings > Wireless networks > wifi settings > menu button > advanced > wifi sleep policy
ofek said:
You should write that after settings it you need to click on menu button->save.
If you will not do this step, every reboot it will restored to "Never" option.

3) Disable motoblur's account settings sync over cell data. This setting causes all of your account information to sync over your data connection when wifi is not available. This should be disabled as it will constantly sync and drain your battery even when the screen is off. Really do you need you facebook contacts that are synced to your contacts to be updated every five minutes? Settings > Data manager > Data Delivery > social apps > sync over wifi.
Update: Only disable the Social Apps that sync over background, do not disable the Background data. Disabling background data will cause certain things to not work properly, like for instance the gmail app.
Update 2: If you are using the Twitter/facebook/whatever apps (real apps) you should go ahead and remove the associated accounts from Motoblur. You do not need them to sync twice as motoblur will sync them with it's account and then the apps will sync. The downside to this though is that any contact pictures you have synced from those accounts will no longer show up in contacts forcing you to manually add pictures to your contacts.
4) remove widgets. Widgets drain batteries when they are active. Most of them are useless and really serve no purpose other than to try and make you feel important about yourself. I mean really, how useful is a facebook widget that only shows one or two peoples updates? Trash the ones you can live without. If you are using a launcher other than motoblur, go and load motoblur and make certain there are none running on that launcher as those are still active even if you use another launcher.
5) live wallpapers suck battery like crazy. While they are nice eye candy to view, they are not worth the drain they cause. Even when you are in a app, just like the widgets, they are draining your battery.
Update: Some live wallpapers are better on battery drain than others, but they still drain battery either way. I will not use a live wallpaper as it serves no purpose other than eye candy, and eye candy on a phone I can live without.
6) Task killers. Yeah not going to touch this one as everyone who reads these forums should know better by now.
7) check individual programs as you install them and make certain they do not autoupdate content. Pulse news reader is a good example of a program that pulls data in the background even when you haven't used it in weeks. Really is it going to kill you to hit refresh when you load it?
Update: If you are using the AT&T program "Mark the Spot", it constantly is checking device performance and is constantly checking your location for it to "work". Be sure to watch this app as it drains a lot of battery through out the day.
8) turn off bluetooth, gps, and wifi when you are not actively using them. Wifi when on is always scanning the area for networks, bluetooth is always actively broadcasting (on some phones) and who needs gps when you aren't on the move.
Update: If you are experiencing a switch from H+ to Edge frequently such as in your home where you have wifi running and do not have a AT&T cell device, then turn off your data connection. Your phone is constantly trying to connect to the H+ network when it isn't already connected and draining power. If you are on WiFi, then your data connection is not needed.
I have heard Tasker is great for setting up an automatic script on your phone to do it for you so you don't have to think about it, but remember that all extra programs including tasker eat away at your battery and without real world testing, I can not promise you will see an improvement or a loss in battery.
You can also use APNDroid to do it manually if you would rather have full controll of your data connection.
9) Quit watching porn on your phone. Use your computer for that. Ok maybe I am the only one who does this but I doubt it. Alot if the free poem sites use flash videos and the more you use flash the faster your battery drains.
Update: Yes I know this is hard (no pun intended) for some of you to do, but the idea is sound. Using flash videos (the bulk (again no pun intended) of porn videos use flash).
These are not the only ways to have a great battery and this information may not be useful to you, but I can go nearly 20 hours of moderate to heavy phone use and still have anywhere from 40 to 60 percent battery left at the end of the day.
If anyone has any other advice that they feel should be listed here, please let me know and I will gladly add it to the mix.
Good luck folks.
Addition (5/12/11)
10) For those of you with the .83 update, please keep in mind that the update now forces you onto the EDGE (2G) Network if it can receive a better signal/stable connection. If you notice you are on EDGE more often than the H+ network, then disable your data connection. What is happening is that even though you have a solid connection to the EDGE network, your phone is constantly seeking the H+/3G networks thus using much more battery life than before. If you are at home or somewhere where your phone can connect to a wifi network, consider turning off the Data network. You should also disable your data connection whenever you are in a No Signal area. Again the same problem happens when you have no signal.

Advice from other Members:
From Deggy
I would like to add to the OP's list of things to do to improve battery life:
Turn off date when not in use for a long period of time like work or school. Settings -> Date manager -> Date delivery -> uncheck Backround data and Data enabled. Don't worry, you'll still get your texts and phone calls.
The Market is a big drainer. Market -> hit menu -> settings -> change notify me -> do not notify me.
Those two are the big ones to worry about IMO.
The other tips are either cliche stuff or other people said already. Wifi off, GPS off, brightness down to 0-20%, ect. Auto sync is killer.
I unplug my phone at 9AM and come home from work at 9PM and my phone says 75% with moderate use (Circle battery widget uses 1% increments). 3-4 phone calls. A LOT of texting (wifey likes text me). Internet during 30 minute lunch. Play Words with Friends a good amount.
I don't use live wallpaper but I do use a darker colored static one. Only got 4-5 widgets on my screen. 3 home screens. Using Launcher Pro.

In some of the other battery threads, ppl have been commenting on how they've had success in extending the battery life after a hard factory reset. What that basically does is it deletes and regenerates the batterystats.bin file in /data/system and if the battery was essentially mis-calibrated prior to the reset, the reset fixes it thus giving better measurements. ie. perhaps after 10hrs of usage the phone might say u have 5% left, but in reality you could have 40% left.. the regeneratin of batterystats.bin would recalculate that correctly
if you want the benefits of having that reset process but rather not go through having to restore all ur apps/back them up.. u could always manually go and delete the batterystats.bin file (only if you're rooted). i would recommend deleting the file after fully charging the phone overnight then unplug it so that it generates the file again. if you'd prefer an app to do this for you automatically you could always go to the marketplace and get 'battery calibration' app for free and it does the same thing

My want to include details about corp email sync. Using "push data" can really chew up the battery and is probably not better then retrieving email every 15 or 30 mins for most people. There may also be a problem with setting a long history time such as 1 month.

The following was posted on the MotoAtrix forums on Motorola's website. https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/51776
I've seen a lot of posts in a lot of threads about how to save battery life on the Atrix. So, I figured I'd start a consolidated thread on the matter. These are the tips 'n tricks I've used, and I can get 2 days of battery life on the Atrix now.
1. When I first got the Atrix, before turning it on, I charged it for 4 hours. After turning it on, I let it run until it died, then re-charged for 8 hours. I did that for a full week. They say that this isn't needed with the new-fangled batteries, but I have always done this, and have always gotten great results.
2. Live wallpapers are not your friend, especially in two circumstances: 1. you use your phone a lot, and 2. you use the stock unlock screen where everytime the phone wakes the live wallpaper is playing. Granted, they don't eat up much battery, but if you're looking to get every ounce/percentage out of your phone, it's a luxury you can leave at home.
3. Did you install a new launcher? If so, did you clear out BLUR? I had my BLUR interface up and running with widgets and shortcuts, etc, etc. When I switched to ADW I noticed an increase in battery drain. I re-loaded BLUR and deleted all apps, widgets, etc so BLUR is blank. I now have great battery life with ADW running.
4. Widgets - ugh. They're pretty, they're big, they're animated, and they eat battery like bees eat pollen. Be mindful of them, and be willing to accept the consequences of the "cool factor".
5. Screen timeout. Yes, it's annoying to unlock your phone every 5 minutes, but you do save battery life with a 1-minute or less timeout option set.
6. Close your apps! Many apps, games especially, are fantastic at running in the background on Android, but they're sucking battery. They all restore to your previous position quite well, so if you're done for a few hours, exit it instead of just going back to your launcher screen.
7. "back" vs. "home" - the back button (the reverse arrow) does a much better job of closing down programs than the home button which just brings up your home screen, leaving whatever you were doing to hungrily consume battery like zombies on a corpse.
8. "manage apps" is your friend - go to your app tray, hit the menu button, and select "manage apps" - you can see all the running apps and kill them selectively. Some, like Facebook, Skype, and others, will stay there as long as the phone is on once you use it, unless you kill it. Be forwarned though, you'll stop getting notifications if you do this - another informed tradeoff. I do this once every few days, or if the Atrix seems sluggish.
9. Screen brightness - the "auto" setting doesn't work all that well, but I highly recommend leaving it there, and/or using a screen brightness toggle widget on your home screen to manage this carefully. Screen brightness on maximum will yield the best viewing experience but it does drain battery the fastest of all.
10. Choose your BLUR accounts wisely - like widgets, if you have LinkedIn and Facebook connected through BLUR, it will run ALL THE TIME. Using the native apps from the market will definitely decrease your overall drain and give you better control over when and how your battery is consumed by those services.
11. Auto-kill or be killed - A good rule of thumb for me is to only auto-end a task if you know exactly what it is, and it didn't come with the phone. Chances are if you don't recognize it, even if it looks like something you don't need running, leave it be. If it's something you installed from the Market, and you want it to auto-end, have a field day. If you put something on the auto-end list that the Atrix needs, it will just keep re-starting it. This draws processor time and battery and isn't worth it.
12. (credit: Itsallgood) Check your profile - "settings -> battery" and look at the bottom half of the screen. The Atrix supports multiple battery saving profiles that allows you to control "night time" and whether to actively sync data all the time, never, or only during certain hours. Push mail and active data sync consumes battery at a steady pace. In addition, 3rd party apps (like Settings Profiles) can be downloaded to further tweak and customize everything from vibrate mode, screen, data sync, and more. The more customized your experience to fit your needs only when you need specific services, the better your battery life will be.
Anyway - that's some to get started, feel free to add more!

Personally, I don't see the point of disabling everything that makes an Android fun and unique.... but, ill see how the battery is stock vs this once it arrives.

You don't have to disable everything, but the things above such as the background data syncs serve no purpose other than to drain a battery. The sync will complete during the next wifi connection and by time you access your contacts it will be done. Besides it'd not like all your contacts change every 30 minutes.
The idea is not so much to limit the experience of android, but to remove the unused features that do nothing for.you. I mean who really needs a youtube widget when the shortcut gets you to youtube just as easily and doesn't drain your battery.
It's the same idea as startup programs on your computer. They serve no purpose other than to slow your system down. Sure quicktime or itunes might load a few seconds faster, but how often do you really load those programs.

I'm using the Gmail APP
the gmail app doesnt sync on its own because you turn off auto sync
i recommend you use the power control widget and adjust those accordingly
Definitely a good list of things, but felt like commenting on the live wallpapers thing. From what I've experienced, it seems like it depends a lot on the wallpaper used. I initially thought the live wallpaper was one of the main reasons for the short battery life when I first got the phone so I switched to a normal wallpaper. I had that for about a week and generally saw a lot of improvements in battery life as a result of better management and the calibration cycles. After that week, I came across a live wallpaper I liked and decided to enjoy that feature for a bit more. If anything, it seemed like my battery life got a bit better. I've tested it a little, and there's no doubt that some of my live wallpapers drain battery more than others. I've tried switching between a standard wallpaper and my live wallpaper (galaxy live) and I really don't see much of a difference, if any, between the 2.
Question: Does freezing the blur home screen (via titanium backup) disable the widgets on it? I'm assuming it does, since it essentially makes that home screen non-existent as far as the phone is concerned.
Darrell, There are some really good suggestions. They also apply to other android phones too probably. I had a myTouch4G for a week until I decided that T-Mob just wasn't as good a value to me as AT&T. So I went back. I'll get an Atrix soon, or maybe some Tegra that comes out in a month or 2.
How do you switch to Motoblur from Launcher Pro and back again? Will I lose the customization that I've done?
Edit: Home Launcher

1) Calibrate your battery by letting if completely discharge and then charge it using the wall charger it came with. Do this at least three times so the phone has a chance to get real statistics.

I read somewhere in this forum that you shouldnt let the battery run all the way down in the initial calibration week. Anybody know about this?

Modern lithium batteries actually die faster if you fully drain them then recharge to full. I'm not saying you can't do it every so often for calibration purposes but it isn't recommended as a every day thing.

We aren't running them down for the batteries health, but more so that the phone will understand what full and what dead actually is.
Do not do this often as there is no point. As for damaging the battery, one website says it is bad while others say it is good. Do so at your own risk. I do not have a degree in science, so I can not say either way, however the steps above done once the phone is calibrated will help.

After 12 hours of moderate to heavy use today, I still have 50% battery remaining.
For the guy who's email stopped working, do not turn off all background data. That will stop the push settings I believe.

Situational update: I am now running JPM. GPS problem fixed, but battery life is a complete nightmare: full charge during night, 8 hours later only 30% left (after 2 reboots because the battery dropped suddenly) with only 3G running.
I am using Quick Settings, Titanium, K9 Mail and nothing else. GPS is not on. Wifi is not on. What can I do? Also, phone temperature is rather high compared to 2.1.
Old situation:
Hi everyone!
Firstly thanks for all the info on the i5800, I have read a lot & come to understand everything better.
I am a complete n00b so sorry for any dumb questions. I recently upgraded my i5800 from stock 2.1 to FROYO.XXJPF as I had problems with the files of JPM (no .tar, no idea how to make them .tar) via ODIN. All seems to work well except three (important!) things:
- GPS doesn't fix, even with Octy's both apps & everything else I have tried
- phone temperature is through the roof, feels warm all of the time
- battery life is shortened considerably: full charge yesterday until 9AM, at 10PM is was at 10 percent with 5' calls, bit of browsing, 10' of tinkering with GPS. After reboot I had 30% battery life. I then installed CPU Tuner & still have 30% 12h later. Temperature is also down because of CPU Tuner when the phone is idle but when I start using the phone it heats up quickly again...
GPS is a big thing for me, so too is battery. Anyone any ideas? Typical JPF issues?
Also, when I did the upgrade to JPF, I had an /esf backup, app backup & contacts backup but all the rest was gone afterwards... Is there any way to keep app settings (e.g. email account settings, ...)?
And, is there an alternative to ROM Manager that does work for our phones?
Try out the Custom ROMs...Kyrillos ofc.. the best stable version out there!
if u have problem about this ROM...just PM me...

Hi,
First of all I would advice to install JPM, not JPF. The rar from samfirmware does have a tar inside and it can easily be flashed using ODIN. The link and instructions are on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880
Also don't restore any backups after flashing a new firmware, you may be creating version problems restoring files that are meant for another firmware.
If you want to backup your contacts just export them to a .vcf file in the contact app and import them later from the file after flashing.
Finally, do a factory reset and wipe the cache before and after flashing.
So shut down the phone, hold home + vol.up + vol.down, turn on, select factory reset from the recovery menu, then select wipe cache.
Then shutdown the phone, hold home + vol.down, turn on, connect usb to computer. Flash with ODIN.
After flashing do the factory reset again with same method as above and after reboot import contacts from .vcf.
That should give you Froyo without any problems.
Thank you both.
Bakayoyo, I just followed your instructions and am now booting a factory reset/swiped cache JPM. I will report back! Thanks for your detailed & clear instructions, that makes everything a lot easier...
Lastly: I keep having the issues with the JPM download via the XDA-thread. Via the Samfirmware website there is no problem... The download there is just a .rar that unrars to a .tar package.
EDIT: GPS is functioning. Will report back for battery life & temperature. Thanks a million, Bakayoyo!
Ok update time. Battery problem still occurs: full charge tonight and at 60% after 5 hours with only 3G running and nothing else... I had adfree installed, threw that off. Now only Titanium, K9, Quick Settings running. What to do and what is causing this? Phone feels hot too...
EDIT: see first post, now at 30% by doing nothing, only 8 hours after full charge...
It is better if you use task killers. I am using jpm and my battery is fine gives me a whole day even with 3g. Apps running in background consume battery.

I did some research and found out I probably screwed up with settings in K9 as I had push accounts poll every minute...
I have 3 push accounts that are now only pushing and 1 POP account that is set to poll every 5 minutes. I'll see what this does to battery life, as I did not even get 12 hours of only 3G before it fell out today.
I read a lot of warnings on ATKs on 2.2...

r u sure? i dont think so... if u kill apps running on background, they will reload later again itself. and killing and reloading apps all the time is consuming battery
Well when you use apps like facebook, music players, video players etc. They run in background even when not needed to. For backgrounds services you have task killers which have options of not killung these services. Personally i kill each app and service. Due to this my battery life has been extended by a whole.

Try InDroid 3.0 . Any version.(There are 4). GPS Perfect! About battery life , User review is enough.
GPS is fine since JPM.
Battery was being eaten by K9, even with correct push settings. I uninstalled it, and went back to standard email app. Result: phone temperature back to normal, battery life back to normal. So all is fine now! Only issue that remains is that incoming calls screw up the battery meter, reboot fixes this (this was already an issue in stock 2.1). Very annoying!
I am in need of help in dealing with games that keep eating battery life after the game is closed. I have downloaded different kinds of app killers and i do not see them on the list but under battery options i see every game i have played since i had the tablet on. Is there a better option or am i doomed to turning my nook on/off after every game i play?
I am new to all of this and may be off base here. But in all of my mind melting reading here I picked up Nook Tweaks off the market for free and from what I have read maybe some of those settings might help you.
Check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104039 Maybe this will help. I am still experimenting and learning.

That's a good program for overclocking and boosting audio, sadly not what i need atm
I was having the same problem. I downloaded an app called 1 click cleaner. after its up and running I simply go into the app and click the cache clear button. after that it will pull up any aps or games that I ran. I can click them one at a time and force stop the app first then if i want I can also clean any cache associated with that app. It stops any apps continuing to run and draining my battery?
Some apps shut down properly if you use the back arrow to quit rather than just pressing the home button. Look for a quit button in those games.
I've had Opera stay running in the background if I didn't back out.

I tried this app today and it clears cache but does not bring up anything else even though on the battery use list there are games still running even when i hit the back button to close games. I have had nothing but battery issues ever since i rooted this NC ; / What is even more frustrating is i read on these forums how people are getting 2 days use out of the battery even with moderate use and if i do anything i lose 20-30% of my battery. There must be a way to get this set up right but i feel like only those in the know want to keep their secrets.
From what I've found, the battery usage screen on cm7 is not only applications that are running but also lists apps that have been running but are now closed. If the app doesn't show up in a task killer (I use ES Task Manager) it's not running. Certain games are high demand on the system and will drain the battery more quickly than reading apps (like aldiko) The last tip I have is to turn the screen brightness down. The screen is the biggest battery killer. Also, turn off wifi when you're not using it.
These are what I do and end up getting 2 days of moderate (low gaming high reading) use.

That sounds awfully high. What Rom and version # are you using? Also, what CPU governor and/or overclock settings? It sounds like something is wrong.
That said, I have had "rogue" apps that keeping restarting and usually just end up removing them because they weren't worth the trouble. Personally, I also use GoLauncher and in the applications menu it has a nifty screen to conveniently show the currently-running apps with a button to close them.
I am running cm7.1 and my governor is on conservative. I do not have it overclocked, its at stock 300/800.
Anyone able to help?
