Hi guys!
I'm experiencing a serious problem with my X10: Using the stock camera app causes (50% and more of times) a reboot of the device
I'm still stuck with the R1FA016 firmware (Spanish, Movistar) and i thougt this could be the problem since nobody seems to have a so bad experience
Today i tried the Vignette app on the market and the bug is still there... what could be the problem?
Thank you.

I know it is painful, but have you tried formatting the device (restore factory settings)?
mmmm... i was thinking about it... do you think it could be a solution?

If you're using a task killer, check out you are not killing any camera app.
No i'm not killing camera app... (anyway, atk is set to kill apps every half hour)
I just formatted the phone and the bug seems to be still here... rebooting occours even if, in Mediascape i try to view taked photos!!!

Then, try one more thing: uninstall ATK, reboot the phone and let it handle the RAM as it is supposed to.
Perhaps ATK is the culprit! I know it caused me a great deal of problems in the past, until I finally realised that task managers do more harm than good on android operating systems.
@sleepyManX1
the update is out already try OTA update......
I also tried to insert photo app and some services (such as facerecognition) in atk ingore list... the bug is still here
So i'm trying this way: disable atk from autostart...

I've tried a lot of task killers/managers and at the end something started not to work properly. Since i don't use them everything is always ok! I recommend not to use them!!
Hi guys!
Any suggestion about this issue?
(I restored factory settings again and did not install any task manager/killer... still the bug is here )
Try to re-install firmaware using SEUS Wish you all the best
Yes... seems to be the only way... and i think i will flash the phone with a generic italian firmware... maybe the problem is in the movistar brand...
I just need a windows pc... (i've a ppc ibook... so no virtualization possible!)

I also have this problem with my desire, apparently after a search in XDA, problem exists in Nexus one (which is like HTC desire anyway) and HTC G1, G2.
seems no solution yet, I flashed my phone and installed the latest radio and a custom rom, still no solution.
hope someone can fix it

PS. Just today forced SEUS to reinstall my original firmware and the bug is still here... in the next days i'll try with an X10i_Generic_Italian (X10i_Custom_IT_Release_R2BA026)...
Let me kno how u get on bud. ?? Would like to see the out come

I also have "reboot" problem, but my phone reboots random - sometimes when I use Google Maps, sometimes when finish phone call, even sometimes when the phone is idle. I tried factory reset several times, updated to latest firmware (currently R2BA026) but no luck.
These days I will go to my local SE support center, I have no choice ...
Ever since the big update (023 or what it was called) my phone reboots its self now and then when I let it sit. It startaed doing it once a week then it started doing it many times a day. 5 days ago I did a repair and it has worked fine until today. It reboots it self again and you're stuck at the pin code.
I've heard that I'm not alone with this problem but few people seem to care. Well I care, A LOT.
How do I fix this.
Obviously it's something SE's done given the fact that it started after the big update.
Im starting to get very tired of this piece of crap and will soon flush it down the toilet. Hang ups, slow interface, reboots, poor screen sensitivity after a while, rediculous sound quality, poor bluetooth support. This is my last SE phone, they're totally incompetent. I tend to use my 9 million year old Nokia handset more than this infernal piece of f**k.
Well .. thanks ..
memory card error ! try copyin all your stuff on your pc then format the card in your phone then copy back worked for me !

Oh FFS dont say that! You will get flamed on here by the kids who think this phone showed apple how to do it.
Slag the X10 of at your own peril! All I did was ask one question and made a comment about 2.1 on the phone and got 3 pages of people phanboying it up.
Your right though the phone is **** and mine is up for sale to get a Galaxy S But thanks for the tip I shall format the card so when I sell it it wont reboot while they are looking at it.
My phone keeps rebooting, and I don't care.
Just kidding. I had this problem before, but it seems to be better now. I was using the program Vault, and I hid away "Backup and Restore" and "SIM Toolkit". After I restored them to normality, I stopped having phone restarting issues.
Also, please don't start a flame war with your complaints about your phone. No one else seems to be having as many issues as you, it is probably something you are doing wrong.

See it's saying thing like that that adds fuel to the flames! Its an open forum so people can express opinions on it yet all I read on here is:
"It's your fault you cant use the phone" this does nothing but incite a retaliation from the poster as if some one said "It's not your girlfriends fault she doesn't cum its yours, I mean she cum for me last night" it would get your back up.
If somebody express an opinion about something does not mean they want a flame war I simply expressed my opinion and agreed with what the OP said.

What do you mean by "I hid away"?. You mean that you just uninstalled Backup & Restore? I have not installed SIM Toolkit whatever that is.
same problem here.
phone reboots once or twice a day and it gets stuck at the pin screen.
this is really annoying.
will try to format the card, and there is another thread were someone said he replaced the battery and the problem was gone.
Found the probable cause of the reboot problem:
Check the "[GUIDE] SIM Card Locks randomly - Howto solve. (rooted SE X10i/a phones only)" in the X10 Anroid Development section.
Try killing Backup & Restore in the Program menu and voilá, the famous SIM card kill bug.
I disabled the SIM card PIN code so it doesn't stick there. The bug is still there but the phone works.
Great work SE - No just kidding - You bunch of amateurs.
well ... the method is for rooted devices, so there is no solution for this yet.
i did format the card to see if i solved anything.
if it reboots when your reading from the card like useing MP3s or looking at photos ! its becuase ther is a bad sector try poping your card in a card reader then let windows tell you there is a error and let it fix this !
i know this sounds stupid but i too had this problem and hav noticed it does it when the battery is at a certain temp (hot) i mite be wrong !!! or is it just a coincidence
Well... formating the card does not help.
Any other ideas?

Do you use a taskkiller? If so stop killing 'backup and restore' .

You don't need a taskkiller on Android. The whole problem with this bug is that people are trying to kill apps/services that shouldnt be killed in the first place.
This is a firmware bug...
I have had a similar problem... however my phone is a new one from the SE repair facility in Poland. It has the latest firmware and the phone exhbits the rebooting with no SIM or SD card installed. The problem also doesn't appear to be related to battery temperature as it can also occur from cold.
I will try an unbranding and see if the same issue exists.

I am not using any task killer.
Mine just started rebooting itself today too after owning it for two weeks. Have been updated to firmware 026 rooted for a few days and notice it only does it when the battery reaches lower than 50%. Gonna re flash it tomorrow and re root it. Reformat the sd card. Will update on if it keeps rebooting.

That did't do the trick for me. Taskkillers will force the bug to trigger, so will the backup & restore program (that seems to runt constantly).
The fix would be to: FIX THE FREAKING BUG IN THE BACKUP & RESTORE PROGRAM, or simply delete it (which is impossible now).
Idiot SE.
Well, it seems mine is rebooting too.
I don't know how often... i just saw it once... out of the blue.
Phone was in standby when happened.
I watching tv and i saw the display turned on with the boot animation and then i figured out what happened.
I uninstalled the backup tool with Titanium. Let's see...
2 day and no reset,i am happy
well i am new here but i think this is the place to be...
anywayz i have been using Arc for a month now and Its the sexiest thing ever...maybe after Megan Fox..
but heres the problem...
Ever since i bought it...its been rebooting 4-5 times every day , except the 3-4 days in the second week . Sometimes it reboots , at others i have to switch it on . I used to have a W910i(osum) previously and even it rebooted 4-5 times each day , but with android it takes time and so is a problem.
Any ideas , any help , sumthing ?
Thanks .

@everyone, looks like we have too many "Rebooting" thread !!
@Mods please close these threads.
okay...well sorry guys...will check around and come back...
thanks..
Mine did the same and could never figure out why... so I installed LauncherPro (had license from my Nexus S) and installed Winamp for the music app and phone hasnt reboot since... personally I think there is a prob with the SE widgets as the Music Widget always force closed and it was always when playing music the phone rebooted on me.
Dunno if that helps?
my music app never force closes...so dunno if this is the problem..and i dont have any license for what software you are mentioning , It hasnt rebooted for 30 hours straight tho...
Try to increase VM Heap in Build prop to 40 it might help with FC's.
well i dont have any idea about what MVP says...(sounds kool tho)
Another insight to the problem that some of mah applications dont show after reboot...all of them are on the sd card..and i have to reinsert the sd card to get them back or i can move them to phone from the application setting and get them on the app screen .
Is this reboot thing a mem card problem then. This last reboot happened after 60 hours of hard usage (loads of sppedx3d game n wifi ).

hey , This tool or application you are talking about , can you explain what it does and how is it a remedy for random restarts ? Because i dont wanna fiddle with the firmware and dont want to do any stuff like rooting and jailbreaking .
THanks !
VM Heap is like Virtual Memory in Windows. When you increase the size there will be more space for the applications to work with. Less battery drain and less chance of reboot. But you need root and busybox inorder that application to work. People coming from CM7 would know about VM Heap. I'm not guaranteeing that this will work. There is a good chance though.
Uninstall from the phone the f*cking widget, like System Info Widget or simiClock or all other then working and not rebooting
This problem was my too, i make a factory reset and not install so many widget sofware. In the 2.3.2 Rom have a bug and not working good the phone with many widget's.
Sorry for my bad english.

Easy. Factory reset your Arc. If it still reboot in random, it's hardware problem, need replace the main board.
Hi,
I have seen this bug mentioned a couple of times in the development section, but haven't seen any solution
I experienced it a couple of times already and the only way to "fix" the issue is to reinstall the ROM
After about a week of normal use, the circular battery gadget disappears and I am left with the battery percentage alone. After that, any reboot would erase my Google account settings from the phone, the lock screen would be gone and the home button would stop working
I did *not* touch with the settings (I saw Wolfbreak claiming that the bug is due to the user playing with that) andf I really don't want to install the ROm for the third time
Any idea would be appreciated
Cheers

Dear community,
Recently I found a Samsung Galaxy S5 on a football pitch, while playing. I'm living in the middle of nowhere, so i decided to wait for somebody to call it. There were no contacts or something like that, only 2 pictures of some strange stuff:laugh: Now I've waited for 2 weeks, and nobody has called the phone or anything. Now I decided to keep the phone. I factory resetted the phone and deleted all data and cache, it's completely empty now. My question is, can the phone be tracked by using findmyphone even though I've resetted it, or do I have to install a new Rom on it?
Sorry for my English btw
Cheers
