Just switched from Nexus S, to iPhone 4, and now to the Trophy.
Nexus S and iPhone 4 had great bluetooth audio quality in my car's speakers. The trophy however has this scratchy noise that plays with music, it's frustrating. Is this a WP7 issue or a Trophy issue? I do have a Focus as well that I put on eBay so I guess I'll test it before I ship it off.
There's no scratchiness if I use headphones directly, and I guess I could do the AUX in jack... But I prefer staying wireless.
Any sort of registry edits or something that might improve Bluetooth quality? Or am I the only one even noticing this scratchiness?
I had the same. When I disabled the 'sound enhancements' the problem was over.
Did you disable it through the HTC Sound Enhancements app, or through another menu?
The options were grayed out (in Sound Enhancements) when I had it connected to my dash unit.
edit: I should clarify that the "Equalizer" portion of the Sound Enhancements is grayed out unless I have something plugged into the headphone jack. I can't find any other menu that deals with sound quality, etc.
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I found some advice about editing some reg entries, but I've had this phone for about a week now and WP7 hacking is still something I know absolutely nothing about.
Registry setting we need to change..
My Trophy's BT Audio sux too....
From the other theads, I gleaned that Windows Phone has 3 BT audio quality settings.
I've been trying to figure how to get a registry editor installed on my Trophy that is running RTM Mango without downgrading to NoDo but No Go
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"UseJointStereo"=dword:1 ;For A2DP audio quality in AKU2.3 and above.
"BitPool"=dword:1E ;By default, A2DP uses a bitpool of 0x30. 0x40 - Better than Excellent audio quality 0x3A.
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:50 ; PTS 3.0.1 requests Max Bit Pool is 0x35.

Would definitely like to see a solution to this . Mine sounds awful too . I'm on the Verizon trophy so I dunno if we can even do reg edits ...
Just bought a bad ass stereo and tested with my lady's iPhone in the store ... Sounded amazing . Got it installed and paired with my phone ...and was very disappointed. Lets get this figured out.

I found it sounds best if you have the volume down to 25 and have all 'sound enhancer' options off. If I have it up to 30 I get a little crackle on the highs.
Other then that, it's been great!
Yeah that's what im hearing crackle on the highs .ill tone it down a bit on the phone end and see if it helps ...that actually would make sense .

THIS. bluetooth audio has been driving me crazy. There is a noticable static on a lot of songs. Im just waiting for a mango unlock so I can edit my registry.
making progress
I was able to finally load a registry editor to my Trophy without hacking the OS.
I can see the registry key that needs to be edited.
But when I change the key's values, they don't save. Instead they revert to what they were before...
very frustrating
Chevron is released. First thing up on my list of hacks, is this. Also meathead, how were you able to edit your registries yet?
I don't think Chevron will help us... It just provides a method to load apps such as registry editors it doesn't give those apps the permissions needed to actually edit the registry, only read it

"
interop-unlock is a way to both install more apps, and install apps with higher permissions (for example, edit the registry, which allows many nice things like custom accent colors)
"
Chervon only provides a Developer Unlock, not the coveted Interop-Unlock
I got unlocked via chevron last night ... from what i understand ( i have tried ) , we cannot change any sort of system settings with this unlock . It is purely for apps .
Someone even upoaded a xap of advanced config and stripped the interop parts . The app launched fine but is unable to save any such settings to bluetooth or anything else because it lacks the permissions .
Very disappointing . I do love the homebrew though so its okay . But man i really need to fix this audio . Looks like we are stuck waiting a while longer .
I've got the DFT freedom rom for a while now and i got the impression that the audio sound via bluetooth is much better now.
Anyone else the same experience?
I purchased the chevron unlock yesterday ONLY so that I can edit this bluetooth registry. How disappointing.
Anyone try a custom firmware?
Another way around our delima would be to load one of these cutom firmwares that come fully unlocked. I think you loose your text messages and anythign saved only to the phone...
I'm looking at them now but can't figure out which one would be for Verizon Trophys..
I'm not sure if I should trust them either with all the things I do with my phone

Hi leguaan,
since you loaded custom firmware and state the BT audio has improved, could you do us a favor and report back your registry keys and values under:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2 DP\Settings]
?
Thanks
Is this issue only on the HTC trophy? We definitely need more attention on this topic.
Fixed mine now that we have interop unlock

Does anybody know how to improve sound quality for playing music over A2DP profile with Parrot handsfree? On Rhodium i applied some tweaks for quality improve and it was clear and nice to listen, but Leo is not so nice to hear
Thx a lot
I had to tweak my diamond too, looked for tweaks on the HD2 but couldnt find them, but the sound quality is way better on my HD2. I dont think it needs the tweeks tbh.
If i take both, TP2 and HD2 to my car, let play the same song and im switching between HTC's then has got TP2 much more clear and brilliant sound, without any quiet cracklings from tweeter speaker like it is on HD2 :-(
Same problem here, sound quality for a2dp is not what it should be. I tried adding the LineSpeed registry setting, it did improve the overall quality, but did not remove the cracking noise - and in my case I still have frequent skipping and gaps in the audio playback. Have not yet had a reply for Tech Support, and if/when I do, I don't think it'll be a very intelligable one...
Yop, i think too, that the answer will be unusable, or maybe they tell you that u should do a Hard rst :-D
First time i connected it to HF and let music play i thought that is a bad quality song, but it isn't :-(
Anyone idea?
I know there are some settings to definately improve the sound of A2DP. I've added them on my previous HD, and worked perfectly after that! I just found some things you might try (I just applied them myself as well, but havent tested them yet; I'm almost sure they'll work):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308752&highlight=A2DP+settings+bitpool
If I'll find the previost post which I applied in the past on my HD, I'll let you know. If the one I just posted will work, I'll let you know as well of course, because the litteral and figural crappy sound of A2DP is something I hate as well...
Edit:
Take a look at those settings as well from J-A-J-O at page 6:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1677577#post1677577
Again, I don't know exactly if it were those settings, but they sound familiar to me. I'm also busy trying to get the best sound quality via bluetooth out of my HD2
More info about the settings:

The XDA tweaks are rubbish and do not work. I currently have a call out with HTC.
I have removed all reg tweaks from my HTC and now can get A2DP working on my parrot ONLY in the following situation:-
(1) Reboot HD2 (hold end key and select off. then switch on)
(2) Allow to connect to Parrott (will connect handsfree first)
(3) Open bluetooth from settings and select stereo audio and select connect.
(4) select handsfree and select disconnect.
(5) Press PLAY on the parrott kit
By doing this I get no skipping at all and the quality is good. I have no tweaks running.
This is obv crap and is why I have been speaking to HTC all week.
Steps 1-5 have to be strictly followed for this to work.
The BT tweaks mentioned on this forum do not work. They only appear to work as you have rebooted. After using the HD2 for a while and then connecting A2DP, skipping will occur again.
Try steps above and it will work.
Interesting! I'll try that on mine. Greenfrog all of those links and bitpool settings relate to the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. However the HD2 uses the Widcomm stack so those registry settings can't be made.
I too am fed up of the bluetooth sound quality. How can they assume we'll be happy with this mediocre sound?! I can't see why with a 1Ghz processor it skips.
Have you guys tried the A2DP with the latest 1.61 ROM? I'm still on 1.43....
When I find my 'goldcard' that I made I'll try it on 1.61 and let you know
We'll get there in the end....this is really my only bugbear with the HD2, so it would be good to get it fixed!!!
There got to be a way!
I, too, am really p***ed off by the bad audio quality i get using stereo blutooth. It's really an issue with the HTC HD2 and apparently no pro reviews pointed it out!!! I use it with the sony DR-50 which are one the best A2DP headphones out there, but the sound is horrible Please help...
I'm too suffering from the A2DP situation...
The Linespeed registry hack helps me on some devices ( HKML\Software\Widcomm\Plugins\AV add DWORD Linespeed with value between 64 and 512, the higher the better sound but higher probabilty for skipping).
With Linespeed = 320 sound is great and I have no skipping with a Sony DR-BT160AS. But: My Motorola S9 badly skips unless I have it very close to the HD2. Linespeed = 256 is working ok with both devices...
BUT:
I also have a blueLino A2DP Receiver which has a bad quality on both settings, at least on some songs. That's really disturbing.
Just a quick update, I've just flashed to 1.61 and it makes no difference. Default A2DP sound quality is unacceptable. Grr

Well, first I have to say I don't have the 'skipping' issue at all. I have my HD2 connected via bluetooth to my Pioneer DEH-P7100BT car radio. I have a clear connection when calling, but when playing music via bluetooth, I have the 'hissing' issue.
Next is that I have to admit that when I changed the settings according to my previous solution, did work a little, but not as it supposed to. When I had my previous Touch HD if found a link which worked perferctly for me! When I changed to those settings, the hissing were gone completely and the sound quality improved to CD level. Although, I'm still searching those ones again for my HD2 at the moment....
So, conclusion this far is that it totally depends on the hardware which you are connected to as well.
Regards,
GreenFrog
@Greenfrog:
I guess the bitpool settings which worked well on my HD as well, only work when using the MS Bluetooth stack. The HD2 uses the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack, I haven't found a noticable difference.
The LineSpeed registry setting does improve overall audio quality, but I still have skipping and playback gaps. Very poor performance for the performance beast the HD2 is. I urge everyone to report this to HTC (I did) - this is really unacceptable.
I will also report this to HTC. I am so frustrated by it tbh
As Moses posted...I had linespeed set up on my TP2 and the sound was great, but now i have no time to test it now, can someone other test regitry key?
Bluetooth settings
Can be found here HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\
A2DP Tweak Provided by R_phAn (Please note this will not work with all devices)
As we know from the past, each device has it's own preferences and capabilities (So you'll have to play around)
Managed to improve soundquality by adding DWORD 'LineSpeed' to HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\AV\ with a value of 320.
it is posted here for TouchPro2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524655
Edit: I tryied it tomorrow morning and it is still the horrible quality, poor music quality and during the call skipping :-/

Okay, thanks a lot for this update! I was really unaware about the different stack, so I don't have to look further for the the previous links anymore... I'll try to add linespeed as well to see if it works with my Pioneer car radio. I hope it will...
There should be an answer for sure for this issue. I also cannot understand why it have to be this difficult. The previous solution did work very well. Why have they changed to the other stack anyway? Does someone know that?
I'm running the 1.48 ROM btw.

I found one thing, i'm using SPB Radio for online streaming, when im listening in my car streamed radio then the sound quality is excelent...? How is that possible?
That's a very good question.
I experimented a bit with different quality settings during mp3 encoding. I found out that there indeed is a connection between the quality settings of the mp3 file and the badness of the sound quality, at least to a specific degree.
The most important setting seemed to be the stereo setting. If I set a song to "Joint Stereo" its by far better than normal stereo, although not perfect, yet. That's very confusing.
Do you know the settings of the radio channels you can stream with good quality? Maybe that would be worth a test.
--Update--
So I had a predictably useless response from HTC. Namely 'have you tried unpairing and repairing' and 'your device may not be fully compatible, please check our website for a list of compatible devices'.
Useless indeed. Their compatible devices amount to 3 items! The phone is either A2DP or it isn't. There are no compatibility options - it's happening to us all.
So, I haven't mustered up the energy to continue onto the next pointless exchange of basic trial and error possibilities. No doubt their next reply will be "have you tried rebooting the phone"...
Anyway, I digress. I noticed something today. I put on a new album to my SD card and out of nowhere the skipping was worse than ever. Audiomanager is always on the lookout for new songs as you may have realised. When you have music playing, a small circle rotates to show the player is searching. During searches whether or not you've introduced new mp3's to your device, it always makes the skipping far worse. When my circle had come to a stop, then the audio was fine....with very rare pauses and skips.
Still there but much less obvious.
Well that's my latest update and I will continue my investigation. I wonder if this skipping occurs in other music programs? ie wmp or pocket player? Has anyone tried?
Great work, guys. Nice to see a lot of people looking for a solution. I REALLY want to get this A2DP thing working right, it is bugging me a lot, and I'd like it to be fixed when I'm going on vacation (I'll be driving to two straight days, and would love to listen to my own music then). That'll be in about six weeks, so there's still some time left.
I'll try SPB radio myself, see if that causes the same amount of skipping. It could be that it is not the BT link causing the skipping and pauzes, but the audiomanager itself. That would be a bummer, because fixing that is probably way beyond what we can do here, and we'll have to hope for a HTC fix or a custom rom with an older and better working version of the audiomanager.
In my search for possible solutions, I found the priority of the A2DP can be altered. I've added the reg Dword value "Priority256" to HKLM/Drivers/BuiltIn/BtA2dpSnd, with different values. If the value is too high (150+), nothing changes. Set it too low - I tried 60 - and BlueTooth fails to start altogether. I've now set it 149, and it seemed to work, but haven't done extensive testing to see if the skips/pauzes don't return. Will get back on that.

I've tried PocketMusic, qualitywise no difference. I don't remember if it had the same skipping / pauzes problem, but the problem for me was it doesn't work with the AVRCP, so I can't play/pauze/ff/rew with my remote, and having to use the screen while driving is a pain - I've mounted my device quite high. I was really hoping to use the inbuilt musicplayer
Dear XDA folks,
a bit of a story about what the problem is exactly, and how I want to fix it:
I'm a happy owner of an HTC desire with froyo on it, which works like a charm.
There's one small problem though, my car stereo seems to be a bit picky when connecting.
My bluetooth is on, I start the car, and the phone tells me it has connected to a headset, the stereo tells me nothing is connected.
Same happens with the A2DP function, phone says it is connected, stereo doesn't detect it.
After a bit of messing around with it, I found a way to work around this, after connecting, disable and enable the bluetooth profiles (called media and handsfree in android) once, and they both work like a charm.
----
What I want to do, is make an app which checks if the device is connected to the stereo (which shouldn't be much of a problem), and then switch both of the audio profiles off for a moment (one at a time) and then back on.
Problem is, how do I switch them from my app? I've been looking at the documentation for hours, but I can't seem to find out.
The bluetoothchat sample is a great start to build a BT program I think, but I'm pretty much stuck here.
Is there someone who can point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance
Nobody? I succeeded with making an app that displays the paired devices (after a bit of borowing from the BTchat sample), so that pointed me in the right direction.
Still, I'm stuck with the problem of switching the profiles/services on and off, and I'm sure one of you can help me
Thanks
Hey I'm no expert but you may want to check out the app called tasker in the market, you could look into the app's codes cause from what I experienced, I see a state there that says 'if bluetooth connected...' Then you can add an event to trigger after that.it's an awesome automater app. Base the codes from there.

Thanks for the suggestion though
Help?! Can't believe noone knows how to do this?
Heeeeeeelp! Still stuck with it
I know that at the moment this isn't possible, but does anyone know if there is work being done on the Android bluetooth stack to enable a tablet to be used as a bluetooth hands-free device? A bit of searching shows that it is a regularly requested feature but I can't seem to find any info on any developers who are definitively working on this (except for one little questionable nugget that stated that the CM developers were playing with Bluetooth. Hardly enough to go on.).
I want to incorporate a Nexus 7 into my 370Z as a carpc but the lack of being able to integrate phone features is holding me back. Using data apps like grooveip are a no go for me as data connections around here aren't reliable enough for consistent daily use. Thanks in advance for any info.
I'm not to sure of what your asking, but if you wanna make calls from your tablet using BT this app allows you to do that as well as send SMS and MMS from it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apdroid.tabtalk hope that helps and is what you mean

I appreciate the suggestion but I don't think this will work. What I would like to do is mount my tablet in my car and use it as a front end for my phone to make/take calls the way an OEM bluetooth car system would normally work. My understanding is that your tablet must be paired as a hands free device, which android tablets currently don't do. I looked at Tablet Talk but when using that app from what I can gather when you accept a call on the tablet it actually activates the call on your handset. Ultimately I want to use the tablet as a hands free solution as I drive stick and holding my phone to my ear while driving is a no-no.
In the past I've used bt headsets but I lose them constantly and frankly I'm tired of replacing them. Oh well.
Well, good luck in your search! And you hit tablet talk spot on BTW lol. Oh and if you do find a solution, plz post it! This sounds like something I would love to use.

Thanks. I'll thinking I'll probably go the route of a more traditional carpc for now, but if and when this becomes a feature you can take advantage of with android tablets I'll have to reevaluate the situation.

This would be a great extension or compliment to the various apps that let you send/receive SMSs from your tablet via your phone. If I could at least receive/answer calls too, I could leave the phone elsewhere at home.
Just to let you know I've contacted parrot and garmin with regards to something like this.
I want a solution where I can make my nexus 7 a full media center with DAB radio and a good sat nav without needing a cellular link and hands free for my phone which includes the voice commands available through the tablet.
So hopefully they will get back to me and I'll post up here what they say.
Something I haven't solved yet either is getting all the antennae feeds into the nexus, I was thinking of getting a sharks fin antennae and wiring them into a raspberry pi to then blue toothing them into the nexus, I could also then attach a HDD to the pi to use it as a server to.
I want to do it this way so I can take the 7 otu and with me if I wish, rather than having it hard wired in. also if would allow for device upgrade.
Theres a nice thread on install and with references to the tasker app to get the tablet to work with the ignition and other functionality like that;

It sounds like it should be something fairly simple, but I cannot seem to find much.
I have been wanting this for a long time, I'd love to be able to take my older Android phone and re-purpose it as a car GPS/Internet Radio/Handfree, etc.
I know the Samsung Galaxy player has this functionality, I wonder if any of their devs could help out.
if this work in linux so i think can work on android
Hi to all,
i been looking for this "bluetooth role" for long time. I have read a lot of forum and the entire XDA posts about this..
it seems that this is the definitive question like "what is the answer to life the universe and everything" simple 42
and it seems that is the paradise for all want to make a carputer/droid/tablet/**** car radio replacement... so... i'm one of you
this post is for some devs (i'm a dev too) i'm asking for help ....
the problem is: which android version do you want to use?
why this question? simple: from the android 4.2 google has decided to trash the bluetooth bluez stack and reimplement the wheel with bluedroid...
i read the documentation about bluedroid at this site:
https://source.android.com/devices/bluetooth.html
and there was written that there are some profiles actualy implemented but not the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile server.
Ok it's not a problem, taking a look to the template of other profile i can implement it.
now the question is HOW DOES IT WORKS?
so i searched and bum this is how:
version 1.5
version 1.6
ok and now? and now i tried to find some similar implementations and...
after another night of search i found this....
HFP For Linux
where there is the downloadable source code.
now I think we have all the necessary to make this possible...
BUT there are some problem that i haven't resolved yet for a lack of knowledge of course.
it seems that the hfp override any other profiles on that example, it's not bad, in a system that i want to use i need only a HFP profile and AD2P togheter all the rest is useless
i think that this at the end is a fork of the standard android project and how I/we can put it into a rom or a patch and who want to add to a rom/kernel? how it can be done? is a patch better ? a new kernel like franco's or better to submit to google?
I hope to have intrigued someone with this post and I hope that somebody can link me to some documentation to understand how to put all the information I have together.
ps. i have tried to reply into this thread:
[Q] Android phone as bluetooth headset?
but of course i have to few posts to make my suggestion there
I may be out of line here but try reading about the gmate+ device.
I got one paired with my Nexus 7 32gb right now and currently using it as a phone. I believe there are other similar gadgets out there, as I've done some researches before I actually got mine to work. I have yet to try it with a bluetooth headset paired because I lost mine just on the day when I was about to try it out.
Anyway, one problem here is, the app for the device is currently not updated so there are a lot of things that need tweaking and one major issue for me is the ringtone. As I have posted here before, sine N7 does not have native ringtone, there's no alert tone for incoming calls. As for text messages, the notification alert tone works. I know there's also GPRS for it but haven't tried it out yet.
Try these options...
As far as an option for a Nexus 7 you may want to try a sip dialer like 3cx or linphone or zoiper and establish a free sip account at iptel.org or something. As long as you have wifi or a 3g connection which some tablet have you should be able to make and receive calls, or try ""Blue Fi" from the play store. it may work.

I just got a new Nexus 7 for the same purpose of replacing my vehicles head unit with a tablet.
I am digging into the BT stack since I believe that I should be able to implement (or port) the profile on top of Android 4.3 assuming that the SCO data is available through the raw BT connection. There is an open source HFP implementation on sourceforge for Linux that migh be close enough to do the trick and save a bunch of coding time. It's going to take a while for me to get the time to dive too deeply into this one, but if I succeed or come to the conclusion it can't be done, I will let folks know.
Hello guys.
I am going to buy Nexus 7 for my car for the same purposes, - navigating, internet.
But mainly is for the Hands Free function.
Unfortunately, people saying nexus can't use it. But it's lol...I don't believe nexus7 doesn't support hands free.
Gentelman, tell me any way to make nexus 7 works hands free.
Thank you in advance.
P.S. if you ask wham am I mean when saying "hands free", so there is an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEFjDKtlao8
Use some Motorola MotoActiv Bt code?
I have a Motorola MotoActiv running watch... Features gps tracking for running and biking, MP3 player and Bluetooth... The Bluetooth is mainly used for wireless headphones, but if you have a Motorola Phone, the watch can display text msgs from the phone and you can use the headphones/mic through the watch to take calls. (the idea being that you can leave the phone in a pocket or backpack while you're bike riding, I guess, and still take calls.)
The device runs Android (I'm sure someone's rooted it on here). Maybe that code can be dissected and repurposed for what were all looking for??

Just an update on something I said in my previous post... I was looking at my MotoActiv watch today and it says you have to have an "Android phone" not a Motorola phone as I said in my previous post. So I'm wondering if the phone audio over Bt can be reverse engineered from the Motoactive watch for other android devices.
I actually decided to root my watch today just for the fun of it... it would really make the perfect "Car Head Unit" as it has Android OS, MP3 capabilities, FM Tuner, Bluetooth and Phone audio over Bluetooth built in... if only the screen was larger than 1.5".
Looks like the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013 are getting some love in this area with a new custom stack:
http://www.bluez.org/bluez-for-android-status-update/
Looks like you need some compiling skills, but I think this is what you are looking for.
It must be work... Or not?
Hello guys!
I'm thinking on a same project for a while. It doesn't matter if not work for me, but would be great if yes.
I found something 2 days ago:
Parrot Asteroid Smart
This is an android base head unit/navigation, and the bluetooth handsfree is working on it. How it's possible? Any chance to port it into the Nexus 7?
solution
So i had an idea today and decided to call my carrier (Cricket). They told me it is possible to purchase an extra sim card and they will program the imei# to match my phone. This will enable me to make and receive calls on my tablet as well as my phone using the same number. Also i will have full access to my data.....problem solved with only 15 dollars. I hope this helps somebody.
I have tried 4 or 5 bluetooth headsets for GrooveIP / Skype / Vonage voice calls over wifi and I get horrible sounds that I could only describe as what you would expect if the call was connected through loosely connected high voltage line. It isn't just a minor background sound. It is extremely loud and this "sparky" sound overwhelms any other sound.
The headsets are what I have accumulated over the last 5 or 6 years and none of them are all that new. A Motorola S705 Soundpilot is perhaps the newest I have and listening to music is clean and sounds great for a BT connected headset. I believe I can record and playback through the Motorola Soundpilot using a voice recorder app and that appears to work without the "sparky" condition. All the headsets work just fine on our cell phones.
So do I have a something wrong with BT on the Nexus 7 or is there something about newer BT profiles that are required.
No one has any experience with bluetooth headsets for voice calls?? Any one using a BT headset for voice calls that works well?

I tried the nexxus nano I think it was called just assuming anything would work. Same problem. Groove IP is the only thing that works at all ... and then with the screeching.
So I wrote to Google. They refuse to tell me what will work. They just quoted Bluetooth 3 and profiles e.g. HFP 1.5.
So I spent money on a Plantronics M20. Again - Groove IP is the only thing that works (I mean mic & earpiece at same time) - but unusable because of the screeching. So a waste of money. Thanks Google for zero help and lowering my bank balance.
On other threads people mention they bluetooth calls working - but when they quote the model of their bluetooth headsets they seem to be ones that are no longer available and/or very expensive. And there's not a sufficient narrative there to convince me they actually work in all particulars.
Thanks so much. I called Google support today and got nothing and I was just about unroot and restore my Nexus to factory to test. I will carry a headset and test anywhere I find a Nexus on display. It may be one of those problems that not every tablet experiences. Thanks again.

Hey - thanks. I might be able to get a used Motorola H710 for about £40 from ebay (UK). Of course - it would be outside what Google specify as being supported but hey ho. Do you think you might be so kinds as to put together a quick tutorial (with all relevant settings-screenshots)? I've been playing "in the dark" with this stuff for so long now ... and my frustration has grown so great ... I'm almost "drunk" or I suppose "stupefied" on confusion and dismay and could do with a firm helping hand. Thank you.
i have the same problem. the screeching is unbearable. i have tried the samsung 1200 which was totally disappointing.. returned it today and got the plantronics m20 ( cant afford much even $25 was stretching my budget ) same result although this time i could hear my self really well for the first minute ( on the phone i called ) i could also hear it on the m20 but it was pretty low even turned all the way up then it just started to go bonkers again... i was beginning to think it was maybe because i installed that beats audio app or something but alas i have no answer for this condition. its very disappointing to say the least i cannot use a BT headset as i cant really make calls with the N7 in its case/stand :/ i am still praying there will be a fix or work around ? i know this can work but will it ? thanks
Hey guys
I'm using my nexus 7 dashed in my car. (Kinda!)
And i'm using tablet talk to connect my phone with it.
Also i have a bluetooth keyboard connected to my tab.
When i have a text, i can answer it easily. But when someone calls me and i accept the call the sound doesn't come from my car audio and my sound doesnt go through my tablet's mic. They bouth go through my phone!
So i have to use my n7 as a bluetooth headset for my phone. Is it possible?
Can anyone guide me?
No one? nothing? no helps? no ideas? cool!!! :|
For God's sake!!!
guys, this will be great. pleeeaaaase, consider developing or sth.
Cool it, seriously. The forum hardly revolves around this one post.
Given the way the Bluetooth radios are set up, it's not really an easy hack and you'd probably have better luck using a dedicated app over Wi-Fi direct or something (of course, such an app would have to exist as well in the first place). I remember looking into this for the iPod Touch a while back and didn't see anything either, but hopefully you'll have better luck.

Well it WAS an easy hack, It's just a case of setting the configuration files up correctly. You get the N7 to advertize the Headset service and an Roberts your father brother as they say. I just about had it setup a couple of months back...... I want to control the full telephony service through the N7 show incoming calls and all the fun stuff.... As a first step I got the voice routing through the N7 Microphone through a handset and onto the caller. However I stopped there because that was using android 4.1.1 and I want to be using the latest build... Which is where your right out of luck because 4.2 onwards is a different beast,
Google decided to replace a tried and tested well documented fully implemented Bluetooth Stack with something that's not quite finished yet whose documentation is the source code. That's why there's no Low Energy stuff on Android yet..... It could and should have been implemented last year, anyway I digress. So the options are
1. Use a rom prior to 4.2 - In which case the Bluez is well documented and this sort of problem has been solved multiple times on the linux desktop and the same ideas can be applied to Android, Google is your Friend
2. put the old stack back in and work with that, There's patches that do that but they are all a bit brutal and would be a nightmare to maintain.,
3. Wait for the Missing Code to be added, which could be tomorrow but It could be never
4. write the code yourself..... Fine if you're an expert in that area but the learning curve is inclined shall we say.
or,
5. You could spam XDA daily with requests .
Personally I put this project to one side because my nexus 7 is out on loan to my brother after he decided to bathe his HTC OneX in Lucozade for an hour...
