Can I Use Audiobooks with Bookmarks on HD2? - HD2 General

is there a way to play audiobooks on the hd2? i need one that keeps my place after i'm done listening to it, like a bookmark. and return to it exactly where i left off later on.

Try Akimbo Player. It will remembers your last position and last set volume level for each book.

can i play this player on my htc hd2 stock rom 6.5? please say yes.

I'd recommend you to try installing Android. You can use SD build, so you are able to use WM6.5 together with Android ROM. After putting android on my HD2 I never looked back. i use special version of mortplayer - written especially for audio books - with bookmarks and sleep timer. I also listen to audible - its player is really better for Android than for WM.
Podcast software is much better too - I use BeyondPod.
On the other hand, you can still use mortplayer for WM (AFAIK there's option "remember last position"). Interface is much uglier than its android counterpart

Which musicplayer do you use on the HD?

I am curious, which player do you use and which is the best on the HD (no D-Pad). Which player makes the HD a real competitor to the iPod Touch / iPhone (in playing music).
I Like the Pocket Player. Nice Browsing through albums, many settingoptions, nice design.
I use the HTC one, it works and sounds pretty good ..
Coreplayer .... many many threads and posts about this ....
I'm trying out Pocketmusic (seems OK so far) as I can't get the TF3D thingie to work with more than a handful of tracks loaded, and anyway it seems a bit of a toy compared to what I've used before (pTunes on PalmOS), and it doesn't support .ogg files.

Btw, do you have any idea how to setup the fading in core player? you know, fading, so that when a song terminates the next one starts with 1-2 seconds overlapping, so it doesnt have the silence break..
thanks,
ionutz
Pocket Tunes is very good.
But, they don't have a WVGA skin yet. One thing that I found to be useful is the good bluetooth handling they have and the redirection of podcasts to a mono headset.
Regards, D
you also have Kinoma Play. Excellent as music player.
GSplayer old but very good
Ive been using the TF3D-player up until yesterday when i installed Coreplayer.
The sound and equalizer is much better in Coreplayer.

But i think an intuitive interface is also very important. i like the interface of S2P but the coverflow is not very smooth. Currently i am using pocket player but i hope there will be some good ipod-like-mediaplayer soon.
TF3d music tab sounds way better than Windows media player..I just got coreplayer...I may start using it if the sound quality is better.
S2P for me!
As for me, I use S2P! I've been using it since it first came out, when I was using my "old" Touch. Now i've got the latest OpenGL S2P from A-C, and love it,think its a great player, and would recommend it to anyone.
But I do understand that everyone has their personal choice,so if u're looking for a music player, try several and see what suits you best!
I'm a huge MortPlayer fan, it plays my ogg files perfectly. The new beta version is MortPlayer 3.31 b76 which comes with a skin made for the HD resolution Highly Recommended.
I use "conduits pocket player". Amongst other things, it has the features I most want from an mp3/media player. The most important features for me are; The screen turns off at a configurable time, it has a configurable sleep timer, It pauses for phone calls and resumes playing on completion. I can control the pause and rewind (volume up and volume down buttons respectively) from my pocket. I think it is a great player.
I use HTC TF3D sound...
I'm testing Pocket Player - and so far I'm liking it. I just wish the default skin was nicer. So far I haven't found any other skins that are wvga and have the functionality + large cover photo like the default skin. And I wish you could navigate in full screen mode.
I tried the iPhone looking skin found in the xda forums, but the album cover is still too small (for my taste), and that skin doesn't have the functionality of the default skin.
So far the TF3D player and Pocket Player are my favorites (I've already tried all of the other ones on the poll list above). We'll see which one I end up using more often.
I used to use S2P but am happy with the HTC one, links up with my BT headphones and sounds quite good.
No winamp on its way to WM 6.1?
I am using MortPlayer for all music playing, it even wakes me up in the morning (that was the reason I started using it back in WM5 times: it was able to "awake" my HTC Wizard, while the implemented clock was not ...)
But MortPlayer is much more than this, it is easy to listen to live audio streams, MP3, OGG files and to create playlists or run through folder collections. A great player, indeed!
Eriol
TF3D - simple and good audio quality. Composing playlist is somehow difficult because you dont see the full ID3 info. Loading takes some time when you have many audiofiles and to say the truth .... i don´t have soooo many - about 1-2GB only.
All other players have one problem, i have to start them, they don´t look as cool as TF3D and aren´t so user/thumbfriendly as TF3D - except for Mortplayer carscreen.

Music player

Anyone know of a good music player which has a resume function for each track?
I had Pocket Player on my HD2 which allowed me to stop one track, play another and then go back to the first track and continue where I left off. Used it a lot on audiobooks.
Alternatively, something that will allow me to set a bookmark on different tracks.
Even better would be one that does that and also still has music controls on the lockscreen like the stock player.
Not sure if I've come across anything like you want specifically for music.
If it's just for audiobooks, then try Ambling BookPlayer. It's pretty good at auto bookmarking what you are listening to, and comes with a widget too to play and pause books.
I'm using Ambling BookPlayer now and it's very good, particularly for my audiobooks and recorded drama. It's a bit of work to load the mp3 files into its library as it doesn't recognise the m3u playlists I have and it does not natively support album art but I liked it enough to buy the Pro version.
Mortplayer
Mortplayer Audiobooks in the market. Free. I used to use Mortplayer in WinMo and this seems much the same. Very reliable at saving where you are in each track. I have only used the android version for a few days but it seems OK and the WinMo one was rock solid, even picked up where I left off before a soft reset. Oh and there's a widget for it and it shows in notifications.
Worth a try.
im using mix zing lite

HTC Music App

Does anybody else use this and does the "coverflo" only show the 1st 100 songs stored on the phone as it only seems to on my machine ???
Ehen I go further into the app it does then show all my music
Cheers
Dave
Hello Dave! The same on my Desire, and i got like 400 songs, but on the main screen of the player is shows 1/100. So i'm using meridian player, which is reading the play lists from sd. But i will like to have access on the player (like on the phone one) while the screen is locked

I wonder how to make Android music app OR Htc Music app read album art/cover? Do I just put in a jpg in the music folder or how do I do?
Thanks!
embed the album art into the ID3 tags.
I think itunes and winamp do this.
there is a nice music player called cube on the market
Does anybody know a music player that doesnt skip music while BT connected to my FM carkit?
I tried two carkits but only if i reset the Desire will i have no music skipping. But only until the next time I start the connection again. Then it is back to skipping.
I tried another phone (Palm Pre) with both kits and it works like a charm.
I can only remember problems with HTC and BT A2DP ! Had it before with HTC Windows Mobile phones as well and waiting for an update is not an option with HTC.
So maybe this is the wrong thread ....

You have proably already done this but have you disabled the wireless when connected. I also reconnected my phone to my bluetooth car stereo and it now works fine with no skipping

mine did this, got stuck and forced closed when you scrolled past a certain number. having said that,i can't find out how to get in to coverflow now! how do you access it?!
finally figured it out
open the music player as normal and press the bottom left key on the screen (the one with 3 lines)
When the next menu pops up press right once so the album list is present
Then press the menu key on the front of the phone (actual button) and press 'play all'
and it will return to the player with all albums ,now able to swipe through each
Got it!

nice one. so cover flow is for a play list, almost. if you're browsing by track or have told it to okay all albums then it works. kind of makes sense, that

tried that. also tried airplane mode but doesnt really make a difference; it comes and goes.
the desire player must have good and bad days wrt to the skipping but what makes the difference i do not know (yet)
this used to be an old habit of WM phones. Never have it with my Palm Pre.
HTC Android no guarantee either
try bTunes app. Looks like an ipod touch and has a lot of good features, such as reading a specific folder on the sd card, and can pull album art from last.fm i think it is. Lock screen controls too. its less than £2 i think.

Thanks for the heads up. I like the iPod style music player just for simplicity. Like the lockscreen controls too. Shame it doesn't have a homescreen widget!

Best way to copy music to phone

Does anyone have any suggested techniques for copying MP3 or WMA files to the phone (SD or Internal memory)?
What I've discovered is that synching with Media Player will transfer over these hidden files (album art, desktop.ini, and folder.jpg). These hidden files seem to mess with the way the Sense music player is picking up the music and what ends up happening is that in the music players details view, it does indeed break up the artists and the albums etc. HOWEVER, in the default view (the one that shows the album covers) it doesn't know what to do and only shows you the album cover of the particular album you are listening too. There's no way to get to the other album without going into the details menu and selecting it from there.
Whew - SO, all that being said; what I found is that if I delete the album art, desktop.ini and folder.jpg files BEFORE manually dragging and dropping the music over to the phone it seems to resolve the problem.
So is there a more streamlined approach to doing this?

Put your INC in DISK DRIVE mode and copy your files to the SD card using Windows Explorer. You can also take out the SD card, put it in a reader, plug that into your PC's card reader, and put the files there via Windows Explorer.
Of course, all this presupposes that your MP3 files are correct (e.g., their ID3 tags are correct; and the album art was already integrated).
I use Tunesync, there're also isyncr, doubletwist, websharing....
The thing I like about these sync software is that they put your music in a playlist, which all the players can see.
First thing I would do is ditch the default android player though and stay away from Music PlayerPro too (just a skinned default player-same options same problems).
I am using bTunes, I think it's already abandon by the developer, but since it works and I already paid for it so might as well.
I recommend Mort Player if you don't look at it too much, Man!..that UI is just plain Ugly.
DoubleTwist is great. It also syncs your videos as well. Best part is it only syncs what you want. You create playlists and it syncs based on their contents

Thanks for the info everyone. I guess the bottom line is that music software on Android is still in infancy stages with a lot of options but nothing that really just stands out. I hate to admit it but looks like Apple has a (+) in this department for now. My Incredible is a filler phone to hold me over until with WINMO7 stuff starts to hit Verizon so just looking for the best combinations of software on this thing.
I'm totally new to Android but I would have thought that the folks over at Google would have taken the media experience a little more seriously and spent some time on those aspects out of the box.

Google was doing fine, 2.1 was solid. It uses up battery like there's no tomorrow, but solid.
2.2 seem like it's coded by 5 year olds... in Mongolia...using Vtech's Vsmile system....during recess. Maybe that's why the battery last longer, nothing works. Could be a way to make us pay for third-party apps (free enterprise at work).
Bus, now that's just plan 'ol funny. Educational (for me) at the same time.
I use the free version of Media Monkey on my Win XP desktop and Meridian on my Dinc. Then I sync playlists (like I used to on my iPhone 3G). Works like a champ.
The iPhone is far superior in the music catagory (dsp, organization, genius) but u have to keep inmind it stemed from an ipod. That said the closest ive come to it is boomboxoid but its terribly slow and often unresponsive. Which is why i primarily use pandora now...an ipod like music player is the app i want most!

[Q] What is the best music player for android HD2?

Hi everyone, I would like to know what is the best music player for ANDROID HD2?
The one it comes with is garbage....Any links would be helpful!!! TY ALL
I would recommend Mixzing Media Player. I currently use it on my X10 and feel its the best for music. Lots of options and has a good eq. And I know you didn't ask but Rockplayer for video. Plays it all.
ty i will check it out
I love the default player that comes with all sense builds.

I have tried almost every good music player there is (Mixzing, bTunes, Player Pro, TuneWiki, and some others I don't remember), yet I've come back to using the stock player. Graphically it's not the most appealing there is, but heck, it does what it has to do without all the unneccessary hassle the others have.

I absolutely hated this whole suggestions thing. It worked so unintuitively yet took a prominent role, and the suggestions weren't very relevant either.
Mspot is great. i like the way you can also play your music from the cloud.
mini player is my fav based on the fact that it looks at a directory that you point it to, rather than seeking for all media on your sd card like the android player does. also has playlist now.
3 or sometimes called cube by phillip abrantes is a cool player it's in the market
i like tunewiki
Music PlayerPro is my pick. Closest to the stock app. Shows album art. Has 4 decent looking skins. Has its own lockscreen with a widget. And best of all you can select the music folder to play from.
Mixzing was ok. Just did a little more than I needed. I just want to listen to my music and not my ringtones if you know what I mean. Keep it simple.
Try Audio Player with EQ Platinum. It has a very good equalizer.

Just wondering if you're talking about the stock sense music player or Mixzing? I've hunted high and low in the stock player and can't find anywhere to tell it where to look.
Horrible yes,ok it is good, but it does not support rewind and forward on my jabra bt 3030....only back skip, and forward skip.....the sense player supports all my jabra functions....
