Hi, I've had my HD2 for over a year and noticed this in the last month or so. When I send a text message, it sometimes sits in the Outbox and any others that are sent after it.
I have to hard reset and send another text message before the ones queued up in the outbox are sent.
Also, I cant view the Sent Items. If I select it, I can only see the messages in the Inbox.
I am on Virgin UK:
OS version - 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manilla: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM version: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
Radio version: 2.05.51.05_2
Any ideas?
Really old rom. The 1.4 roms had a very well known and much discissed issue with messages stuck in outbox until soft reset ( you meant soft reset not hard reset).
Id very highly recommend getting a later rom installed, they are up to 3.14 now.
If you have the virgin branded phone 1.66 is the latest you can download as stock
If it a very early Virgin phone it will be unlocked and unbranded then the 3,14 will work, and thats the latest stock ROM.
I would consider flashibf a non stock rom, if you are staying on Mindows Mobile then I recommend this rom:

its easy to flash very fast and stable. If you look towards android then the ROM in my sig is highly recommended.
What ever you do read the full instructions first, it saves time in the long run

Hey all,
I opened up my HTC HD2 today and first thing I thought I'd do is to upgrade its rom to the latest official release from HTC.
Unfortunately, when I go to http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=856 ( Release Date: 2010-01-25 ) and enter my serial, I'm told "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device"
From Googling and looking on here it would seem that most people who receive this message are tied to their operators rom and therefore can't 'officially' upgrade.
I got my phone from ebay 'sim free'. Currently things look like this on the phone:
OS version: 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
ROM version: 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
ROM date: 10/26/09
Radio version: 2.04.50.22_2
Could this be a phone that was bought from an operator, though the phone has no signs of branding?? i.e. normal HTC startup screen, no logos on casing, etc.
I was hoping to use the latest official ROM on this device as not to void my warranty. Can anyone decypher from the above info why my phone can't get the latest ROM from HTC, and how to go about getting it?

Just an update - I've assumed that the phone was never an official 'HTC sim free' - therefore with no time to waste (cut my losses, I should have checked before purchase) I've HardSPL'd it and am going to flash it with 1.66 WWE once its done downloading.
Oh well, I'm sure I would have HSPL'd it eventually anyway, curiosity always gets the better of me with these devices. Now to look into some custom rom business...!
All the HD2s have no branding but can be vendor locked in that the operator needs to approve ROMs for release. for example, Vodafone took a couple of months 2 release the 1.66 ROM afer HTC released it
I have a couple of questions about updating my HD2. Its with T mobile contract. iIt is unmarked so is it still Tmobile branded ?
What rom should I put on it?
Current is: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
Rom date 11/18/09
Also what manila version should i upgrade too? current is: 2.5.19211619.0
How do I do this? and will it wipe my phone?

Does it say LEO T-MOBILE on the back of your HD2 box?
Doe it say "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device." if you put your serial number in here: http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=856&news_id=500
If so your device is CID locked to T-Mobile.

will the rom update, set my phone to factory settings? eg. lose all contacts and email settings etc. Also, as before what the best rom to use? Official or ....?
In that case, just download the 1.66 WWE ROM from the HTC link I posted.
I currently have ROM 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE. I also have a problem when im texting that the display will stop showing what im typing until I highlight again. im wondering if flashing the ROM will fix this issue?

Flashing a ROM will erase everything and return the phone to factory condition (just like a hard reset)

Since I updated to the new ROM. that problem went away... It happened to me almost every time I texted with the original shipped ROM.
I hav 2.13.531.1 as ROM version on my HTC HD2 TMOBILE
I am afraid to update it as I have heared that ther are issues on wifi,bluetooth,voice mail aft update.
Kindly advice me on this asap if possible

It's great. I have NONE of those issues with it. Also, you can flash back to 2.13 if you don't like it. There are links to the official 2.13 download on this site. No worries.

I have had no issues with the new 3.14 rom
My seemingly unwavering issue is almost a total lack of WIFI connecicity.
I don't want to flash another radio though as my cell reception is great.
Other than that issue, I love the 3.14 ROM
Issue with email accounts not downloading new emails
I have several email accounts, most of them with Yahoo!. One of them I use the most, getting 10-20 messages every day.
I installed 3.14.531.1, and everything's great, except now my email accounts don't update. I know I have new mail (checking via PC), but it doesn't get loaded to the phone. Even manual Send/Receive doesn't work most of the time. The in-box shows all statuses (at the bottom), like "Connecting...", "Logging on...", "Receiving headers", "Disconnecting...", "Finished", ... "0 Items".
There are 3-4 bars of 3G...
In case anyone's experiencing the same problem, here's my "About Phone" info:
OS version: 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
Manila version: 2.5.20181424.0
ROM version: 3.14.513.1 (04666) WWE
ROM date: 09/29/10

I tried hard resetting... Same issue.
Sadly, I'm thinking about reverting to previous version...
you did resetup everything didn't you ?
also you have to re-enable those services

just for info, you couldn't change the radio if you wanted to without going back to 2.xx anyway,,,,,,, need hspl to flash a radio, no hspl for spl 3.03.0000

it's natural that after a hard reset I had to reset everything (I didn't restore from a backup or anything like that. All hard, manual work...)
On th other hand though, what do you mean by re-enabling? I thought they are enabled once you enter them in the list (unless I missing something). All of them have a refresh schedule, but they (almost) never work. As I mentioned above, even manual refresh (Send/Receive) doesn't always load the messages.

This is my first post on XDA.
I have an HTC HD2 Hong Kong version and I originally flashed the ENERGY ROM (worked beautifully).
I wanted to flash back to the original ROM and stupidly I did not go on the Hong Kong HTC site. I flashed an XDA ROM WWE.
Everything was fine in the beginning until my daughter unplugged my usb cable while I was away from my desk
I now see the multi-coloured boot screen, 'Flash ROM Error please try again'
The white portion reads, 'SERIAL'
I now downloaded the updated Hong Kong ROM and still cannot get the HTC HD2 to connect via usb. So in turn I tried using the formatted 8G SD card with the updated ROM and no luck with the boot (volume key down and power button)
Please XDA members can you kindly help me return my HTC HD2 back to the factory ROM?
How shall I connect via USB or get the SD card to boot the original ROM?

We have same problem,
i flashed it with almost all diffrent kind of ROM lol,
i also try to do the task29 but i encounter an error,
i just finished jtagging one of HD2 using ORT, (other phone)
but with this phone
im still trying to find a software solution for this problem before i dismantle the unit....
i think this problem has something to do with the incompatibility version of radio...
anyone can redirect us to a link which will help us solve this out?
I have same thing too now, after several failed attempts at getting the latest Typhoon on my phone I decided to clear things with Task29, it got to 4% then rebooted & now that's as far as it gets each time. Just boots into tricolor each time. I can get a USB connection in tricolor but everything I try I just get an error
I have also the same problem, stuck there itself.
did you have solution for this?
Have you tried Task29 from HD2 Toolkit?
