[Q] - Just bought Wildfire

Please bare with me.
I just bought Wildfire White. It's on the way to me. It will have 2.1 pre-installed.
What should I do first?
- I want to have one of these custom ROMs (which one is best?)

I want it to be OC-able. I hear that I need custom kernel for that. Well what do I have to do to get custom kernel.
Is there some guide that will tell me all this?
I would not.reccomend the first one (cm7) since it is not even alpha
if you like htc sense go for the new wildpuzzle not the chinese one
if you dont like sense go for cm6 but make sure to flash the maps and market file as well
note thease files may break your device.rendering it useless. You are responsible for your actions. This will also void your warantee. If you dont want that to happen then use the 2.2 ota but you will not be able to root or flash a custom rom. If in doubt stay on 2.1

lol, Dont scare him.
Well, first and foremost, I would recommend you read this guide completely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
After that, when you have rooted your phone, you can decide on the Custom ROM yourself. They are broadly categorized into 2 categories : Sense ROMs and Non-Sense ROM's/ (Sense is the default HTC UI). Then, you have to decide whether you want a Sense ROM or one without it, and, go about it accordingly. (Generally, Non-Sense ROMs are faster, since Sense requires a lot of processing power)
As for CM7, even though it is Alpha, I would recommend you try it out. I am using it as a daily use ROM, and, its perfectly fine.
I'm currently using cm7 night release 0. I think. Its great. There are a few bugs but nothing. That effects the phone at user level.

cm7 is great!!! the nightlies work perfectly ;D, very good for what you call an 'alpha' release ahahaha, and why stay on eclair or froyo, when you can have some gingerbread action
Still i would rather wait for a beta or rc release

CM7 Nightly 0 is almost perfect, pretty much everything works
Its personal taste anyway im stuck whith hboot 1.01 and am now wanting to try cm7 fail on my part

Would recomend de_version_4.a but then again that's my Rom lol

first of all root your new toy
after that, you should play with your phone till you run-down.

Try CM7 nighty build, i rooted my phone this month itself and the first ROM i ever put was the CM7 ROM and trust me i havent even looked around for other Custom ROMs, its fast, looks very good and all apps work on em..
Cheers, btw dont forget to read Turkey's Guide to Rooting..
OC is not stable,even 4.1.。。
CM7 build 23
so yea i figured out everything im not big fan of alpha roms so ill stick to sense roms for a while. i will surely move on to cyanogen mod later
i'm using cm nightly build 21. working just fine.
there was an issue in 18 but 21 is just fine. i have tried out almost all of roms for wildfire, and i found CM 7 to b the best of all.
No... I'd recommend wildpuzzle v0.8 first to get comfortable with first since it has all the capabilities of overclocking is stable although not recommended to wildly over the 700mhz mark and everything else.
Gingerbread is a big and not stable yet a little complicated to setup.

i'm loving my wildpuzzle v.08,overclocked and super stable, i like sense too much
Cm 7 is very good I can confirm this. I am using build 16, everything works fine but I found it unstable overclocked over 700 on my wildfire.

Reminder dont update to official 2.2 (Froyo)
or u will not be able to flash any custom rom like me

[Q] [HELP] I need a stock 2.1 or 2.2 Wildfire ROM

Hi Peeps,
I have just sold my Wildfire to my Bro but the custom ROM that's on there at present is buggy in that it hangs of completely freezes up.
I told him I would put a stock ROM back on the phone so that it is more stable.
Does anyone have a link either directed to XDA or outside the forum that will help me find the download for a 2.1 or 2.2 Stock Wildfire ROM as I need this for stability of the phone, big thanks in advance!

this will flash hboot and radio as well. It's currently unrootable, but if you have a visionary brick it will revive it.
If you are looking for /system only (retains S-OFF) go there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074852
Hi all,
I wonder if this can also be loaded "as is" on an european Desire Z...
I'm looking for a simple rom to improve battery life, the stock HTC Sense rom is so hungry...
many thanks
b.
My replacement came with stock 2.3.3 for the G2...It stinks, there are other much better roms out there.

Funny, I rather like the rooted stock GB roms rmk40 and Xboarder56 put out. No problems upgrading for me, as long as I used the "superwipe" on Xboarder's OP.
If you're having battery life issues, a different rom may not help if the problem is bad cell reception or a hardware issue. If it's a background task gone loopy (K9 Mail's background service does that in marginal data coverage areas), then it might help to swap roms. Nandroid is your best friend. Backup early & often.

Is it possible to install that ROM on my Desire Z that I bought in Europe? I'd like to change it.
Thanks,

the problem is that with stock rooted rom it works perfectly ): i have no idea what can i do now ):

I had tthe same problem in jellybread v5. But I installed white kernel instead of savies cm#2 kernel. So I thought the problem was in the kernel. But when I reflashed my stock rom the problem was solved.
the situation is that this is my friend phone. he is total noob in rooting etc. i have never had this problem with my wildfire and since i have it everything works so far. today he accidentally deleted his only stock rom backup. i have another request now. which rom is working at all, and there is no custom kernel required?? because i'm not able to go to him and install by myself so i want to know which rom is totally bugless (; thanks in advance

Stock rom is totally bugless
all roms will have a bug list on the op if there are bugs - read it
no stock based rom requires a specific kernel
cm7 requires percys kernel
discussions in which is best rom bug free rom and so on is against xda rules - read each of the roms op & decide which is best for you
i didn't ask which rom is the best at all. i don't know much about roms released for this phone so i ask for custom bugless rom (; because he is stubborn as hell and he wants to have custom rom. so as you pointed, stock modded rom should work well and there is no.need to install kernel if i understood well? thanks for reply (;

Yeah, Try stock modded roms... Also you can suggest him Hyperion 8. Its not totally bugless but those are minor bugs. Your friend don't need to worry about these bugs.. Its fast and cool too...
okay, we will try (; big thanks for you m8 :3 hope this one will work (;

okay, the phone works now. he got it into bootloop after flashing hyperion rom and he couldn't enter in cwm mode so i flashed stock rom via odin and rooted again. now it runs nemesis rom which works great. thanks for all ideas, thread to close (;
