Has anyone successfully made the screen shutdown animation work on the leaked gingerbread rom? I see posts in other device forums for a modified framework-res.apk that enables it on stock roms. Anyone know of one for the Evo?
I'd personally like a framework-res that enables the battery % and shutdown animation without any other changes, but would happily settle for one that just enables the shutdown animation.
A buddy of mine was all excited about how he got the 2.3 update for his DroidX. He was super-pissed when he realized they didn't include the screen-off/on animations, haha

I thought those animations were 2.3 aosp only. If they could have been ported to 2.3 sense wouldn't someone have done it already?

Don't have an answer for you, but I'm amazed by just how much I love those animations. They seem like such a small little thing, but it puts a smile on my face every time I turn my phone on or off.

The screen off animation is present on the 2.3.3 Gingersense build with sense 2.1 by Tmartin over in the dev forum.
For whatever reason, it seems that HTC and Motorola (and probably Samsung) didn't want to include it in their updates.

This ROM has potential! If this was cleaned up (removed sptint crap and bloat apps) and things from the legend rom were added like friend stream it would be sweet!
I have been waiting for a rom with the 6 signal bars. Also if you change the Animation setting under Sound & Display to full animation, you get the animations in sense like on the default home app in 2.1... pretty sweet I may say!

Yeah this was just proof of concept last night when i posted it i plan on cleaning it up today.
Hey, there is a program in this ROM called "Device Self Service", does anyone know what it does? I seems to do something with the network? Strange thing is, if I have a few bars, it seems to refresh and almost give me better signal! Whatever it does it seems to help, this should be kept in this rom!

i agree i love the senseable ui but this ROM is great it seems like i get way better reception when im using this. i used to only get 1 bar in my apartment n with this ROM i get 3 kinda weird but would be way better with the senseable ui *~DEZ~*

If you had previous live wallpapers installed, does installing this on top still work OK? I just did this exact scenario and I can't get the new LW patch you guys just made to run smoothly at all.

It should work on any rom. It removes old versions, if active. Are you using sense or Nexus Home?
Nexus home. I dunno, none of the wallpapers are running well for me. I'll have to mess with it more later I guess.
This patch with jamezelle sprint rom makes LWP's work good in sense! The sprint rom already had all of these features (openGL wallpapers ran faster though) but when returning from sleep they would disappear. This patch has seemed to fix that issue in sence, but did slow them down, choppyness.

Our phones are not made for this, so its gunna slow stuff down. We need kernel source for Over clocking. I figuring 700mhz would be awful nice

Is this sipposed to fix the 3d gallery? I loaded the zip and noticed first off the it removes the htc lockscreen, might be worth mentioning... I have tried the 3d gallery on both sense and the nexus launcher. It DOES rotate without problem and it does work sort of. when it displays my list of pictures I only see them briefly and then they get transparent and blend in to the background until nothing is visable. If I click on a spot it will load a picture or an album but I can't see what I'm clicking on. Im using Ivans latest rom btw.

It doesn't support Gallery3D fully, and I no longer have a phone to do dev work on. The lockscreen issue is a mistake in my update script, will be fixed shortly.

I turn off sense to get the animations that i got with my n1 and they are not on the evo with 2.1 that sucks

Dont worry we will have froyo roms soon with no sense and all n1 features. They are already some out just not publicly released yet.
What animations are there on the N1? I thought only Sense had the weather animations.

Ok... there are a nice hand full of "sense-less" sense roms out right now, Athena being my favorite of these. But once upon a time, before Incdoes blew up into a monster dev (then crashed and burned) he did the complete opposite. He had his "Best of both worlds" AOSP rom with sense stuff in it (rom thread here) This was my favorite rom at that time.... I like AOSP but also like a lot of the sense... i know i'm not the only one who feels the same, so can this be done now with GB? Hope someone with the skills tries this cuz i think people would like this also......
I still have his v2.0 and v2.1 if someone wants to take a look at them and try for them selves.....

I agree. I LOVED that rom. Sense widget support with a stock launcher (and feel) for me would be ideal. Great idea trying to bring something of this caliber back!

The only thing I miss from Sense is the camera app. Widgets etc. I never really cared for. The Sense camera is amazing though.

Most HTC apks should be installable still. Im not sure if that rom used actually sense widgets or not.
I think there are framework issues. Especially since HTC has not released their gingerbread update yet. Even then, I'm sure its proprietary.
Khanam also posted 2.3 in the original thread. This may help whoever wants to take this over.

Looks like quadrant scores are not improved over 2.2 which is what i'm sure most people are hoping for. It also appears that the screen off animation is not present in the rom. It's also using Touchwiz 3.0 and not 4. Market is broken, and gingerbread keyboard also not included. Looks like an early beta build from what i've read.

The kernel that allows us to flash i9000 ROMs is only 2.2 and 2.2.1 compatible. I'm pretty sure someone would have to build a new kernel to let us flash that or port the ROM over.
The crowds are getting restless over there. They're in an uproar about "this is missing" and "that is missing". One of the complaints is about the gingerbread wallpaper being missing. But these guys forget that our 2.1 devices didn't come with stock 2.1 walls. They instead came with whatever wallpapers samsung gave us. Overall it's starting to sound more complete than the first froyo leaks that we used to have which is reassuring. Some of the guys say that the leak is stable and everything is working on their devices. One of the nice improvements they're reporting is functioning hardware acceleration.

Funny to see their behavior over it when we are just sinking our teeth into 2.2.1. Maybe its a good thing though.. I myself am so pleased with the performance boost of 2.2.1 that I'm in no rush to flash again but of course I'm in the minority on that.

Na I'm with you on that, running Bionix 1.3 and it really is just as fast as CM7 was for. Really the only thing that gingerbread had over this ROM is that the applications list loaded faster. Plus on this I have themes
