[Q] ARIA wont pickup 3G DATA connection - HTC Aria General

My Aria doesn' t pickup 3G connection i am using at&t rom until I can root it does anyone know if the problem is because os AT&T software I am connected to Portuguese carrier TMN.

The AT&T version of the Aria does not support the 3G frequencies that TMN uses. This basically means there is no way to get 3G data speeds with this phone on that carrier. However you should be able to get 2G data and voice calls without a problem.
Unfortunately installing a new ROM will not fix this issue. There's nothing you can do about it.

And is there any chance of changing the radio firmware so it would support it?

Nope, sorry. It's a difference in the hardware, not the software.
There are two "versions" of the HTC Aria/Liberty/Gratia. The A6366 which is the AT&T Aria and supports 850/1900MHz 3G bands, and the A6380 which is called Aria or Gratia depending on the region and supports 900/2100MHz 3G bands. It should say underneath the battery which version you have if you want to be certain. You would need the A6380 to get 3G to work in your area.

Radio update to 3G for the wing

Is there any update out there to allow the Wing to access 3G? When I tether my wing to my laptop, sometimes I get 3g speeds and others I don't. Is there an update that will allow us consistant access?
Tmobile 3g.... No, completly different band, no hardware support.
ATT 3g..... Perhaps you would need to unlock it and try an ATT sim
you can't get 3g at all on the wing. 3g is based on a hardware radio, and the hardware radio that we have only supports edge and gprs. If you want 3g, you will have to get a different phone, one with an actual 3g radio. By 3g speeds on your laptop, that just means "unusually fast"
I was hoping there was a software or firmware update that would allow us access to the 3G band. I was sure if it was out there you guys would know.

any way to use t-mobil 3g with Hermis

All. I have an 8525 unlocked and working on T-mobil in USA. Edge Data is working via T-zones. Is there any hack to get this device to use the new T-mobil 3G net? Please Advise Pogo...
I had to turn off 3G in order to get my MMS to work.
as far as i know tmobile in usa
use different 3g frequencies then the
rest of the world
and not software hack can change
what frequencies htc devices support
nor different radio-stack
it's a hardware thing

This is partially false. T-Mobile USA uses BOTH AWSIII (1700) and 2100 frequencies in the US.
As for the OP, I am in the same position, and am unable to get 3g working. I know for a fact that it exists in my area (I randomly was on it once for about 10 minutes) but I can't get it to truly work. Unsure if it has to do with provisioning (I think it does) or not.

3g compatibility

Hey guys, I'm interested in purchasing this phone. Only thing I'm wondering about is the 3g compatibility in North America, specifically on Rogers Wireless in Canada. I know it is not compatible out of the box but wondering if one is able to make it compatible. May sound like a stupid question but I'm unaware on our it works. Thought since there are many ROM updates that it can change the 3g frequency. Thanks in adavnce.
If it doesn't work out of the box, it's not gonna work. The frequencies are hardware specific, so no ROM change would make it work. I'm not familiar with your carrier, but look up its 3g frequencies and then check if they match with those of the HD. (make sure to check the Australian HD as well, as it has slightly different frequencies and can work on AT&T in the US, while the normal HD cannot)
if Rogers is on the 850 3G band, then the Telstra Touch HD should work. i have the Telstra HD and it works on at&t's 850 3G network. unfortuantely, you WILL NOT be able to change 3G bands with ROM updates.
So if I were to obtain the Telstra HD, I am still able to update the ROM on the phone correct? That would be awesome news if the Telstra HD works on our Rogers network. Has anyone in Canada tried it? If so were can I obtain a Telstra HD that will ship to Canada? Thanks for the help guys
Hi,
I have the Touch HD (T8282 so not Telstra which is T8285) in Canada on Fido (which is owned by Rogers and works on the same network) and it works perfectly, however only on the EDGE network for my data plan. I have to say that it is still pretty fast and I dont suffer from not having 3G that much.
I would actually recommend changing the ROM (I have Dutty but I tried L26 too), since it will then come with a Network Wizard that will automatically detect the network and configure your phone automatically ( as opposed to doing it manually with a standard ROM).
Hope this helps,

[Q] Please help.

Hi guys.
I got a highly noobish and probably stupid question about my Nexus One.
Using the *#*#4636#*#* / phone information / network type: EDGE.
My wife's wildfire shows HSDPA and we ure under the same operator.
So, its a phone problem? It doesnt support HSDPA? If so, how to change that?
I understand there are 2 versions of Nexus One, how to figure out which one I have?
Thanks in advance!
There are 2 versions of the Nexus 1 that are out. One that works with tmobile 3g and one that works with at&t 3g. If you use the tmobile version with at&t you will only be able to get EDGE.
How long have you had your N1? Did you buy it new or used? Who is your provider?

Thank you for your answer. Really fast.
I live in Colombia, South America. My provider is movistar.
I have the nexus about 6 months ago. Rooted. Running CM nightlies.
What do you say about the result on *#*#4636#*#*??
Thanks again.
movistar uses 2100mhz for hsdpa in colombia correct? Both the wildfire and nexus one should support 2100mhz no matter what version you have, so you should be able to get it on both phones if it's available. The only reason maybe you wouldn't is that you have the "Use only 2G networks" option enabled?
Something else, in the data icon of the notification bar does it say the same thing as it does on the phone information screen, or do they both indicate edge?

2G Networks only unchecked.
Indicate Edge in notification bar and in phone information (4636).
Is there a way to change or fix this thing out?
Thank you.

This is true on both phones? But it is only the wildfire that says hsdpa in phone information?
In phone information, scroll down a bit to the drop down box of network types above "Turn off radio". What is this setting?

Wildfire: WCDMA preferred.
Nexus: WCDMA preferred.
Set both to GSM only. After a minute, if the wildfire still says hsdpa then it is likely a firmware issue where the connection information is permanately set to "hsdpa" or it doesn't update as it should. Have you traveled into an hsdpa service area recently?
Do you think changing the radio band may work? I didnt see any checked right now... in any of the phones...

After a while the wildfire was unable to coneect via data connection when I put GSM only.
When changing to GSM only, the nexus keeps showing E.
The radio band should auto-adjust based on what is available. I don't know that you can specify a certain radio band in android.
The wildfire has "E" in the notification bar at all times, correct?

I mean, where you can choose Automatic, EURO band, USA band, JAPAN band, AUS band, AUS2 band...

No, the wildfire has H, the Nexus E.
movistar does not use the same bands for gsm and hsdpa anyway, this is a strange issue but I suspect it is simply a firmware issue
Edit: Maybe what I read was wrong. Do you know for sure what your provider uses for hsdpa in your area?
One version of the nexus one uses 850/1900/2100 and the other uses 900/1700/2100 for hsdpa, while the wildfire uses 900/2100. But they both have 850/900/1800/1900 for gsm. I didn't think 900mhz was used in South America?

But in the meantime, Im only getting edge having hsdpa available.
What can I do to fix this?

Let me ask first. If the phone shows H not necessarily theres HDSPA? Is what you mean?
They claim to offer 3.5g. Edge is 3g? Hsdpa is 3.5g?
The only thing I can think of is that your provider is using 900mhz for hsdpa and you have the wrong version of the nexus so you will not be able to use that band. Or, you have gsm 900 available and not hsdpa at all and the wildfire is interpreting gsm as hsdpa. Download a speedtest app and see if the connection speed on the two phones is actually any different.

How can I know?
I know, the other carrier claims hsdpa, COMCEL is the name of the operator.
But if my phone is configured to EDGE, what can I do then?
I'm sorry this issue is so confusing. I read conflicting information about what bands Movistar is using for gsm and hsdpa in your country. The operator name in the notification bar is Movistar, correct? If it is, the wildfire can not be using COMCEL.

Yes. Movistar. But actually comcel haves better network and services here, so Im trhing to find out ic I can improve my browsing experience in terms of speed...

[Q] Bell to T-mobile

I currently have a HTC legend and it is from Bell mobility, I want to use it on the T- mobile network. Everything works except for the mobile 3g internet and picture messaging. I did the setup in the settings/ wireless networks but the 3g part of it still seems to not want to work. I was wondering if there is a flash available? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm pretty sure T-mobile uses different bands than the phone supports, AT&T will work with 3G though.
Ahhhhh, don't tell me I have to go back to At&t????
Unless you can live on EDGE only...
Sent from my S-OFF Bell Canada HTC Legend.
Well what about a radio update? Could I update the radio on the legend and gain access the the 3G network?
The hardware will only let you on certain frequencies, T-Mobile does not use those frequencies. You cannot change those frequencies with a radio update.
