OK so I odined back to stock and then rooted via the one click root application. I had bionix v1.something already on my sd so I downloaded rom manager from the market and tried to flash it.
So I open up rom manager and pick install rom from sd card and choose bionix.
then it takes me to the recovery page and the only options I have is:
reboot
reinstall packages
format data
format cache.
those are the only choices I have! where is the install zip from sd card option? what do I do?
edit: jesus christ I'm an idiot. thanks guys
that is the stock recovery... when you odin, you lose CWM recovery. you need to get an update.zip for CWM or get root access and have rom manager do it for you...
PS theres nothing wrong with your phone.

you odin'ed okay.
so go on Rom Manager and flash Clockwork Recovery for Galaxy S Vibrant
then do the steps i said on top.
It's worthwhile to keep a copy of the ROM Manager apk on your SD card so whenever you odin you can install it and flash CWR without having to log into market and download it. Just an idea.

Did you format the SD card with ext?
Can you be more specific? What doesn't work?

First of all is your phone rooted? If not then you need to root to flash roms. If it already is then when putting it on your SD card did you keep it in .zip or did you unzip it? Always remember to keep it zipped. After you put it in the base of your SD, turn off your phone then boot into recovery by holding the power and home button. Then go to flash file from SD then choose whatever Rom you chose.
Even though you are on 1.5, flashing to 2.1 shouldn't be a problem
i didnt not ext on my sd card and i was unziping it. well when i put my rom on my root of my sd card went into recovery mode they told me i dont have any roms to flash?

Which recovery version do you have 1.2.3, 1.5.2, or 1.6.2
Always keep it in the zip format and just move it to your sd card.
In recovery console always do a nandroid backup before flashing a ROM and then do a data wipe and dalvik-cache wipe. Then flash from zip.
You do not need to rename to update.zip. Even with 1.2.3, but in early, early releases you had to.Just move to sd card just like it was when you donloaded.

The reason why is because you were unzipping it, next time keep it in .zip because that's the only way you are able to flash it. Make sure the Rom you want to dl isn't in any other folders on your SD.
So I had stock firmware running rooted and using chainfires lag fix(ext3).
Today I tried to do the free sim unlock and it seemed to work fine.
Upon next reboot I kept on getting FC on all my apps, including launcher pro. Now I am getting a message saying that my memory is full and all the good stuff. I might have screwed something up when I was getting the blm3 file but my question is what is my best way to proceed, should I try to just revert back using chainfires exe or should I just use Odin and reflash the firmware.
If I reflash the firmware using Odin, how can I clean the internal sd card so I do not have remain of crap on it from the lagfix?
Thanks.
you could always get ROM Manager, and try a "fix permissions" it may help.....
can't install anything from market, freezes at starting download, also all my apps the built in ones show as 0 bytes space
I will most likely reinstall, too bad because everything was perfect before it all broke.

wtf lol, i probably should have been more specific haha but yeah idk...
could you push the rom manager apk with adb? or you could try applying the lagfix again. I think your best options would be to either nandroid back, or better yet ODIN back, then unlock(you have the key), then root, then install all the goodies.
Maybe try reverting the lag fix? Is there an undo script for the particular lag fix method you used?

undid the lagfix and market was broken still, I ended up doing an Odin restore on my gf's pc (32 bit windows) x64 was getting stuck.
All in all not bad, and me being stupid, I am applying the lagfix again on the fresh install. Once I know how to do it, it's a cakewalk.
Thanks Peeps.
I have tnt 2.00 and it works fine but wanted to update to 2.04 have read multiple post and tried to update it using the clockwork mod but have had no luck.
I put the update.zip in the main folder and replaced the update of tnt 2.00. I go the the rom manager and boot in recovery mode and eventually get a triangle with an exclamation point and get a quick boot back to my tnt 2.00.
Where am I going wrong?

As roebeet pointed out in the first post, if you're flashing with clockwork mod recovery, you need to extract update.zip from his ZIP file and put THAT on your SD card.
So basically your saying that with the clockwork mod you do need an sd card and have to put the update on the card.
I know that you have to unzip it and only put the update.zip file in if you are using the clockwork mod but didn't know you had to put it on an sd card.
When I originally changed the rom to tnt 2.0 I just put it on the internal storage.

Yeah, what he said.
One of the problems for new guys is how things are named. And the fact that they're named different things between TnT (and the Lite variant), CM6 and clockwork. TnT (and Lite) as well as clockwork, all call the internal storage "sdcard". CM6b4 calls internal storage "emmc" cuz apparently that's what it's called on phones that have both internal storage and an SD/MicroSD slot.

That's actually the industry standard. Why VS decided to setup the device that way is anyone's guess. Same for a lot of the things they did.
Without this great community support, this thing would be a a pile of crap. A pile of crap with potential, but still a pile of crap.

I put it in the folder and still get the white triangle with the black exclamation when it tries to reboot and reverts back to the tnt 2.00.
So what is causing this white triangle to appear and not letting me update??
I get the same symbol when I try to backup my current rom using the rom manager.
I get the same white triangle when I use the "Install ROM from SD Card" in rom managment....
I would like to know the exact steps to update from one version to another as well...

should help ya fine, just skip the clockworkmod steps if you already have it running.

Do you have to wipe all your data everytime to update to a new ROM version... it would seem like it would get tiresome installing all my apps/data everytime

I think that, at this point, it's not critical if you're staying on the same mod. Only wipe if you have problems, but of course backup your device before upgrading (just in case).
Flipping between mods, on the other hand, is more risky. I would highly recommend wiping data in that case.
All this on a new vibrant using the stock 2.1
I've rooted the phone with one click. I've used oneclick as admin to run the 3s update.
I have update.zip loaded onto the root of my phone(not sd card)
I have clockwork recovery on my phone and i have done a backup
I have booted to recovery mode from Rom Manager then when i try to install zip from sd it takes me to a directory.
I select zip from sd card
I select sd/ and my nothing is showing there just keeps taking me back to the directory and telling me "no files found"
Sooo then i tried flash rom from sd in rom manager and it starts to flash then give a message "no sd-ext found. skipping backup of sd-ext" then it tells me to reboot.
What am i doing wrong I've been working on this since yesterday morning with no success.
sd-ext is the external sd card not the build in 16gb.
Put one microsd in with the rom you want to flash.
You need to put the rom you want to flash in the internal sd card, not the external sd.

Hi,
I am a complete newb to HTC and know hardly anything about installing a NAND rom on my HTC HD2.
I bought the phone recently on Ebay, it was running windows 6.5 but I wanted to change it to the latest Android rom. I just want it to be Android, run smooth and fast, be able to access android store and get latest apps, have wifi, 3GS and all the features that the phone can handle.
Basically I am stuck on the MAGDLR V1.12 main screen after following mskip's guide on flashing a HD2. I installed HARDSPL 2.08 and flashed MAGDLR 1.13.
I then followed 'langthang's' guide on installing his latest rom updated on 31 Jan by 'flashing Recovery with edit' then done a partition recovery v1.13 150MB ( this is where I think I may have chosen to little). This is where I am stuck at and do not know what to do next on installing a rom.
I know this may seem very 'newb' to many of you but I would be grateful for your guidance on just installing a good rom.
Thanks
When I go to AD Recovery it says in red ERROR: Invalid boot image header. And on startup something about kernel open failed.
i am completely confused and need help!!
install cwm recovery (latest is 5.0.x.x) again with correct partition size required by the rom. you need to edit flash.cfg and enter the correct size e.g.150 or 200 etc..
I have installed CWM 5.0.2.6 with a 200 partition size and can go to the AD recovery menu now. How do I edit the flash.cfg and actually go about putting the rom on the sd card using MAGDLR, I amconfused on that aswell do I extract the rom to my desktop or just put the rom zip file straight on the SD??
Thanks
Put rom zip without tampering with it if don't know wat to do...then get into cwm recovery ... install froM SD card n choose the zip...
Flash.cfg can be opened in notepad
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Ok.
I do not get the Flash.cfg part at all, what do I edit and copy? I am using the HDToolkit4 2.01 to partition it now.
Also do I have to put the rom on the SD card to extract it from cwm recovery, not by going into USB mass storage mode??

I would suggest installing notepad++, you open the CWM folder you download and right click the flash.cfg file. Then you can edit the recovery size there.
I would suggest that you do not use MAGLDR to transfer a rom to your sdcard as there is a good chance it will corrupt, file transfer is still unstable. Just flash the correct recovery size, then boot into recovery from MAGLDR and transfer the rom to your sdcard there.
Do not extract the rom zip by the way, just place the whole zip on your sd and flash that.
What do I exactly edit?? Where is the CWM folder?? I still do not get this part at all, can someone guide me through it..
I flashed the recovery size through the HDToolKit...
Also, when putting the ROM on the SD Card, Do I have to take out the SD and put the ROM on that way with a adapter on my PC, OR can I just boot into recovery from MAGLDR and then connect my phone via USB with the SD inside and transfer it that way??

If you look at the flash.cfg in Langthang's thread, yours should look exactly like that when opened (make sure to open flash.cfg, not flash.cfg.txt) in notepad++ or whatever notepad type thing (not MS Word) and just change yours to look the same as the example one then save it. You should only have to change the numbers. Flash the new recovery then copy the ROM as a zipped folder onto your sd card using a card reader if possible. Boot into recovery then select install zip from SD card, select your file and there you go, one working HD2 with Android

Ok I attached the recovery that I use with Team Blue Droid (credits to Dansta for porting it for us)
Open that .7z file and extract the folder to somewhere on your computer. Open the folder and inside you will see a bunch of files (one of which is the flash.cfg).
Now right click that and edit it with either notepad or notepad++ and adjust the recovery size as need for the rom of your choice. Save it and then while booting into MAGLDR connect your phohne to your PC.
Select the Daf.exe file and let it run, once completed you will have successfully flashed your recovery. Just boot into recovery from MAGLDR and then select mount usb (I believe that is the option). Then you can mount your sdcard and copy the rom that way. Once done just flash the rom with the install zip from sdcard option.
Post if you have more questions
HI,
First I've written a guide to magldr and clk, so if you want a little extra info it may help.
Second, I would recommend the program called "HD2 Toolkit" Their is a link to it also in my guide.
You need to consider updating to magldr 1.13 if you are going to use magldr, things will just work better with the latest version. Also unless you have a very good idea of what you're doing, the new clk1.5 rc1 is probably your best bet, it makes everything so much simpler.
But back to your magldr problem and the hd2 toolkit program, this program is an automatic flasher for the hd2, magldr clk and cwm.

You know it really depends on your preference as there is a wide range. There are Sense roms (2.1-3.5) AOSP roms, CM7 roms, MIUI roms, and CM9/ICS roms. The choice is really up to you
