I was thinking... the Xoom has a front facing camera, and it would be kind of neat to be able to control it via motion sense much like the Wii. Although, it would have to run without a controller, since a tablet is a portable media device. I think that the camera could be used to implement motion controls into Android itself. There just needs to be some new coding and adjustments to make it work so that it can have movement detection and gesture recognition. I think it would be cool to have because then you would have more than one way to move around and execute commands.
This would be another great victory that Android would have over the iPhone that it wishes it could have. Touch screen+motion controls=not Apple.
Does anyone else think having motion controls to navigate Android would be a cool idea?
I agree that would be so awesome.

Exactly! I don't see why not. The Wii uses a channel based motion sense experience, the tablets could have a similar feature, but with hand detection, since there will be no controller.

Ah sweet! I knew something like this would be worked on as we speak. That's why I said it is completely realistic for this to happen. Just for a few minutes, if they would focus more on features and a little less on power (Android is the king anyways), then we would have some new unique stuff like motion controls, which would spawn off a new way to navigate through our homescreens, and play new unique apps that make use of the camera and motion sense, and execute other commands using motion/hand gestures.
Has there been a game out on the Android market yet that makes use of the front facing camera, with something like face detection that puts you into the game. A good example is the Face Raiders game on the 3DS, or some of the other DsWares.

Woah that's pretty tight. I'd like to see something similar to this natively on the newest Android devices. How cool would that be! Thanks for the find. Never knew about that app.
Take your Xperia Play box in your hands and look at the main side (big XPERIA PLAY and two photos of the phone). Look at the second, right photo and look at the place near right trigger. See little engraved Camera-shape?
It means that the right trigger might be planned to be used as shutter button for our Plays but in some reason this idea was withdrawn and original Plays are without this engraved shape. I wonder why
Surprised? I am
Cheers!
You are correct. Nice find.
I am just surprised that this function was not included in the phone. Seems like a basic camera function on a phone like this.
Yeah awesome find dude. I am also surprised this was not included on the actual phone.
My right button trigger takes photos, you guys now theres a mod for it on these forums right?

Yes. That mod bugs out on me though. Ceases to function often so I rather not use it at all. Point is we shouldn't have to mod to get that function. It must have been officially planned at some point.
Yeah, nice find.. the L and R buttons look a little curved too
Whats even more surprising to me is you can pinch the screen and have an overview of the widgets, and you can shake it
Found that by chance when it was in my pocket :S

Yeah, pretty cool function. I've discovered it too, unexpectadely when I was testing multitouch. It causes a little jaw drop and jealousy in my friends' faces and they say the want it too on their phones (SGS 2, Galaxy Tab, Optimus 3D). Mwhahahahahaha >:-D
Also using two fingers is very helpful in scrolling up or down quickly if there's lot of a text or menu buttons (ex. Settings or text communicators, doesn't work in web browsers). You have to place them next to each other but not very close and slide both fingers up or down to scroll very very quickly. The position of displayed text is adequate to the position of the fingers - the end of options/text at the lowest part of the screen and the beginning of options/text at the highest part of the screen. Tried this on SGS and Optimus and these phones doesn't have that function, strange.
Try it if you didn't know about that

Yeah but it records HD in the 3gp container instead of mp4, bit annoying
It shouldn't be so, but pressing x takes photos.
That little camera icon and the Hdmi thing makes you wonder what else they got rid of.

This is an Quick Review of the Official Jelly Bean Update, which demonstrates some of the changes and features, which I thought would be useful for new people interested in this ROM and also those with the ROM to take a look at.
I plan on making an In-Depth review in a couple of days that will hopefully mention all aspects of the tablet, if you guys think you've found some great features feel free to leave a comment in the video or if you have any questions about the update so that I can mention/answer them in the In-Depth Video that should be ready in a couple days.
You can also post some changes you have found here in this thread and how your experience has been with the New Jelly Bean Update; Thanks for the help guys.

Something I noticed...
Hey - great Video.
I noticed something on 4.1.1 (and did not see it in your video). It took me for a spin-loop the first time: When downloading something fom the web (deafult browser) it does not save the file anymore to the internal (/mnt/sdcard/Downloads) - but instead to the external SD-card (I assume when one is present. I have not tried it without my externalSD yet.
Thanks again for the features.....

One disappointing thing I have noticed in s note.
If you wish to have a custom background based upon an image it does not save that image as a template background for future sessions. You must go through the entire process each time. I prefer to write with a white pen on black lined paper. It would be nice if the background gallery would retain this option for me between sessions.
Also I do not see any way for us to custom design our own templates. Am I missing something? I can think of a number of layouts I would like which they do not offer by default.

Yeah, if its possibe, ideally enough so we can read the menu options, pause the video so we can see if anythings new or changed, generally a better view of everything, if its possible, i assume you do it this way because its easier, less fiddly not worrying about being out of camera, im assuming

If you save a blank note with the background you want, when you want to start a new note, open the orginal and "save as" before you start using it. The orginal "sort of" becomes a template. Kind of crude but faster than changing the background each time. I think the S-Note we have is going to be the S-Note we'll be living with for quite a while.

Now that there's a Windows version of S-Note they'd be smart if they published a SDK like they have for the S-Pen in general. The fact that syncing S-Note's to a Samsung account has been added might mean something's planned for the future.

I agree guys, they should at least have a section in the settings or somewhere in the app to request features or leave feedback. Especially since its not in any of the app stores.
Also I just signed into Samsung Apps and they're giving $20 coupons for learning hub to all users, not that I've seen anything in learning hub that interests me :/

Really the only one that has impressed me is the eraser mode on the camera that removes moving objects... otherwise, all the "smart" features stay off. Battery hogs to the max.

Unless you use the "smart" features you don't know that for a fact. I have been using the smart features on and off for over a week, with the features / gimmicks on and running there isn't much battery drain at all.
While a lot of the features are gimmicks some are actually very useful.
Smart stay - (the best one out of all them, should be in stock Android)
Quick glance - (use this all time while it's on my desk or on a table)
Air view - (helps me dig through text messages fast and zoom in on some websites)
Air gesture - (I actually go in the gallery a lot and this makes browsing photos more fun and... natural? in a sense)
Palm motion - (use this all the time to answer phone calls and mute or pause music also use it to capture screenshots
Direct call - (I have to admit it's nice and very useful to just directly call someone while simply just moving the phone to your head while in the texting or contacts app)

I used Air View for a bit but it made my screen too sensitive which i used those specific programs.
besides that the only Air feature that i might turn on is Air Call Accept. And it only works during phone calls so its not bad.
The watchon TV controller thing is a bit weird. Doesnt work all the time..
Today I was eating lunch with my phone next to me. Got a call and used the gesture to answer and have the speaker turn on without me touching the phone. That was nice. Voice control camera is cool, but saying different things changes how the camera shoots. I'm still figuring that one out.
Thanks for the replies, none of these sounds useful to me.

Alright, i apologize for the snap judgement. Im fanatical about battery, and they do drain extra, which to me is unacceptable for what you get in exchange. Was much more impressed with the smart stay than any of the new ones, and depending on how many times you let the screen almost time out it can add a fairly substantial amount.
Your right, i should probably rephrase my 'hog' assessment, im probably more picky than others about battery. .

If you go in to recent apps, you can grab a multi view capable app by its header and drag it on to the screen. It turns the app in to a pop up window. So if you're using the browser in full or split view doing this turns it in to a pop up preserving all your info.
You can also do that by dragging down your current active window from the left or right top corner, drag it down to the center of the screen. Need so practice before u get it done, but when u do it correctly u will feel so easy haptic feedback.
If u got root and have an app like MW Commander which u use to make every app multi window, it will also enable this pop up view for all apps.

Hey there. Are you getting a Note 5? It's really an amazing phone and you and I both go through enough phones to know the difference. Samsung's pulled a bunch of features and settings out and I miss some. But the benefit of thinner and lighter s/w paired with uber fast memory and storage is a smoothness and tightness you'd expect from an iPhone. It's pretty too.

You would access it by opening the side panel (thats now gone from the note 5) and then simply tapping the app you want. It would bring it up as a floating app.

And it is really useful too. I use it a lot e.g. when I need to quickly refer to a note I made while browsing and I do not wish to even minimize the browser , there are a lot of such instances.
