[Q] !Contacts Facebook updates GB Leak! - Droid X General

Is there a reason that I cannot see any Facebook status updates in contacts on the rooted GB update? Am i supposed to, or is this functionality motorola took out?
Whats even more frustrating, is that since i'm running blurr, I cannot use androids default system for Facebook integration!
Is there a way to fix this, or is this just the way it is?

I have heard that google is getting away from facebook. I don't think they are integrating facebook into google much anymore. I think if you search around droidxforums you will find more on it.

Yep. A lot of it comes down to Facebook's security -- or lack there-of.

download the PB31IMG file, put it on the root of your sd card, go into the bootloader, it will update the phone and bring you back to a Stock 2.2. From there root it and do as your please.

It's widely known as "link din" - people willing to hand their address books to third parties causing spam to lots of mailing lists and forums.
I have no problems with it as a professional version of Facebook, but it's unfortunately as spammy as Facebook sending bogus invites to the world. I can only assume that installing their app will cause your entire Google address book to be spammed with invites.

I have not seen this at all... And I have been on linkedin for years. It has prompted many recruiters to call me and offer me positions. I like that then I dont have to go looking for work...
As to Spam, yes there are a lot of people on it that send you invites... but it is no different then any other social network. you could probably pull a lot of emails from XDA if you really wanted to.......
Anyway, I like linkedin even though I am not really looking for a job right now. each person has there own experience and if you dont like it then uninstall it or remove your account. also you could use a spare email account on it and all spam would go there. I think most people have a few email account. I used a junk email when I started with it.... Since I have not gotten too much from it I updated it with my personal good email that I always check.
Have a great weekend.

Facebook Integration
Google has removed the integration on it for now. When it is reinstated it will allow Google to have access to your friends profile pictures even when you do not have Facebook integrated on your phone. Google wanted to be able to have more open access to Facebook's information rather than only gaining that information when the phone was synced with Facebook. So when Facebook syncing resumes your Google contact list will pull you Facebook friend's profile pictures will be integrated with your google contact from then on. They are wanting to be able to keep all this information on hand so there is no need to re sync every time there is an update.

To be as basic as possible, think facebook, only better features and more customization. Not to mention more privacy. But its in beta and just beginning. Get friends on there, get people from here on there, start creating groups (circles) and start posting.

It only uploads them to a private folder.
The biggest thing right now for me is that you can't hide yourself on the service. Facebook has a way to completely hide your profile - on Google+, your name, profile picture, and gender must be there and searchable. A couple of my friends work with potentially violent, crazy people on a daily basis and definitely don't want to be publicly searchable on social networks, making Plus a nonstarter.
Can anyone spare an invite. Despite the many publisher accounts I have with Google I can't get myself an invite. Would sure appreciate it. Thanks guys!!

From what I understand, google+ requires a gmail account and becomes part of your gmail email, connected to that specific email forever.
As for the google+ app it's only available on android because it's still in testing. Probably in a few months they will release an app for the iPhone when google+ is out of testing (if Apple approves the app)

Missing Apps In Windows 8 Consumer Preview

I noticed that when i upgraded from the Windows 8 Developer Preview, to the Consumer Preview, there are a bunch of missing apps. For example, Socialite, Alarms, Twitter, and so forth are missing. Is there any way to get these apps? And does anyone know why Microsoft took them out of the Consumer Preview? Share your thoughts
I don't exactly know to restore them, but I think that Twitter and Socialite was taken out because of the People hub/tile. Maybe the other apps were taken out because they were low-quality? Now I'm confused too

WP8 Facebook App: It better improve

Hey everyone,
I currently own a Nokia Lumia 900 and I must say the biggest letdown is with the Facebook app. Here is my list of annoyances:
1. Cannot search for new people to add
2. Pictures sometimes refuse to load or load blurry
3. How slow it is to open and then you have to wait again for the feeds to load. These need to be optimized.
So what I am hoping for is an updated version for WP8 which will be the app on par with the other platforms (iOS, Android).
Anyone else agree or like to add anything?
A lot of things need to change for windows phone to be better and the fb app is definitely one of them. Let's hope they get it right this time at Redmond.

The thing is that they do not develop the app themselves. It's a third party that does it and they've been doing an atrocious job that's for sure.

I agree and it's a shame as fb and Microsoft have a very close business relationship. They need to do better to compete with android and ios.

I use the Facebook app plenty of times and not experienced the WP version. Hopefully they can update it to match the android/iOS version. Is the people app any good?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
It barely gets updated too. The other platforms receive updates on a weekly/bi-weekly basis while the WP version gets them quarterly or so!
Maybe this will change with WP8. We shall see in a few weeks.

There is nothing more annoying than when you tap on a picture that is posted on someone's wall to see it and it hangs loading and nothing shows up.
Then I pick up my android tablet and do the same and the picture loads instantly.
They REALLY dropped the ball with this app!!

I don't think a facebook app is really needed when you have the browser. IE is more than capable of running facebook quite nicely.
According to what one regularly reads the Facebook Apps seem to be pretty terrible on all platforms. This does not surprise me given that Facebook itself is pretty unstable most of the time (login issues, Chat issues, etc.).
Still there is room for improvement on the App side as well.

Google+ is to say the least something everyone found great in the first 5 minutes and then forgot about, Twitter is an entirely different medium all together and does not really qualify for a comparison.

Google+ is rubbish!
If you don't want app updates on your Facebook wall you can just set the filter options. And if you have people on there you don't care for just dump them off. I used to have hundreds of people but I didn't care about what they where up to so I got rid im now down to about 30 people close family and real friends and that's it. This was I get to use it for what its made for and that is to socialize with my friends. Google is gash for that its just a place to share advertisements for Google.
