Hello again guys.
I've decided to do the radio s-off thing and I obviously need your help and opinion.
And the question goes.. what radio version should I flash? And please, can you give me the link and installation instructions I must follow?
I know it's tiring and boring (again) but the search is so difficult in this forum. I mean there are so many replies that I get lost..
Thank you in advance.
Cheers !!!

There is no one, ideal radio currently I am using Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 , which works fine for me but your mileage may differ, before flashing the radio you are probably best to apply Radio S-OFF as this will preserve your ability to downgrade at a later date. May I suggest this thread as a starter it contains links to all the relevant tools and detailed instructions.
awesome.
thanks mate. that was a blazingly fast reply
will look into it tomorrow since i need to get some sleep. it's 3.18 here
thanks again mate
Cheers !!!
If there's any recommendations for the rom you're using, I'd go with that one first. To know which one works best you just have to try. Radios can be found here. Probably best to try the ones from this year. Here's the guide for the flashing process. Follow it exactly so you won't get any problems.
P.S. The search function isn't really that bad, you just have to know the right word. It also helps to use the "search titles only" in advanced search.

George,
As you're using ARHD 3.5, it would be wise to use the recommended radio from here:
http://xda.ckgaming.co.uk/db_mirror/Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2.zip
Also while you're at it, flash the mic fix from here:
http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/RevolutionRom/Froyo/click.php?id=32
Flash mic fix from recovery but flash the radio using this guide:
Download attached Radio flash.zip
Extract the folder to anywhere of your choice (MINE IS ON THE DESKTOP)
Open the flash folder
Download the radio you want to use from the links above .Then Drag and drop radio.img you have downloaded in to radio flash folder
In the folder double left click the START HERE a command prompt window will open
Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
The adb reboot bootloader will take the device directly to fastboot And I can confirm that this method works also with non Sense roms.
Once your phone has rebooted in to bootloader screen Type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
Once its done type fastboot reboot
All done
Awesome. Did the Mic patch even though noone made any complains to me about the voice.
After work am gonna do the radio thing.
Thanks a lot guys.
Cheers !!!

ok. got back home and need to flash a new radio.
but from the list with different radio files and versions that Hawks556 gave me the link to, i can see that the "recommended" radio for the revolution 3.5 is TELUS.
i know that i know jack about android (that's why i always come crying to mama.... eeerm, i mean you guys) but is this ok?
my phone is unbranded. i bought it as it is. by flashing this radio will i have a problem?
(and to tell you the truth, it seems like it's not so easy..... gee, i hope am lucky)

You shouldn't have a problem flashing any of the radio's form the radio thread and even if you did, as long as you are radio s-off you can always revert your radio, for painless flashing of radio, and recovery for that matter, I use QtADB which makes it fairly painless, but if your not comfortable flashing a new radio and your current one is working alright just leave it as is.
no, don't tell me.... please....
i don't have to revert to 1.32, do i?........................
the message i get is "failed (remote not allowed)"
Cheers !!!
Just run my ENG S-OFF tool (link in signature). Remember to tick the "I have radio s-off" -box. You do not need to change ROM, any ROM will work. Then after doing ENG S-OFF, try to flash a radio again.
well, i was thinking that after doing the whole thing i would come here saying "hey guys. anyone wants to build a new house? i have a brick to give" but all is well
done it, went fine. the error was because i didn't tick the "i have s-off"
ticked it, done the process and did the new radio thingy.
thank you so much guys.
Cheers !!!
U can update radios to the latest...as it makes a big diff in reception..wifi. Fm and stuff.. Just as a android is os for your phone... Radio is kinda os for those aswell

I know what you mean. It's like the BIOS on a m/board.
I get the picture. The thing is that I've read than quite a few people have problems like reception and sound (when talking on the phone) by flashing a new radio.
The best would be a list of the different radios along with their pros and cons. Tried to find something like this but was unsuccessful. But will continue looking...
Thanks anyway for the clarification mate

If you ever have issues with a Radio you just flash another or one which the majority have no problems with. Here's the Radio thread.

how hard is it to install a radio rom
i have tmobile touch pro 2 ...usa
has anyone got a write up
on the install
im not that much of a techie
i have read alot of threads to get up to speed
but my technical skill are not that good
please help
They are very easy, follow the same steps as flashing a rom, thats it!! Must be Hard-spl then just run the curtomruu.exe
Yeah, as husker91 says, just pretend you're flashing a ROM. It's very easy. Just follow all the steps, don't skip any steps, and make sure you follow all the directions!
Here's a pictorial, if you need it. This pictorial is a ROM-flashing guide, and it's pretty much how you flash a radio-rom.
*However, I do believe this should have been posted in the Radio thread OR at least the ROM development sub-forum.
Very easy as stated above
Don´t forget to vote!

well as far as roms goes.my way is just grab one and flash everybody has likes and dislike .you wont know till ya start flashing different ones.it gets addictive but i love it .i would suggest this rom for your first one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572938 it's stable and fast. i am on it right know ,plus i have a tmobile tp2.usa .so just follow the instructions and flash it .once you get the hang of it you will be flashing alot.just have to find one that you like ,that meets what you want to do with it! it's very easy to do ! well good luck man!the customruu.exe is the progam that will install it into your phone from your computer . it's already in the zip file you download. when you unzip the file you download you will see it !this rom if i remember right ,after you unzipp it you will see a file named flash open it you will see the customruu .well just follow instructions from above you will get it .i know it's scary at first but just be confident. also when you go to flash it from computer make sure all programs are closed and don't open any while you are flashing it .that way nothing mess with it while it's installing .
when i install it will it be put in my programs menu

if you are talking about the customruu.exe no it won't .it's built in to the rom's package itself.you won't see it on your phone.just see it on computer after you unzip .

Customruu.exe is the file you launch while your phone is synchronized to the PC. By using customruu.exe, your PC is transferring the new radio-rom data onto your phone (it's upgrading the radio-rom as this happens).

No, the radio-rom is a software upgrade. Hence, it won't be a program. It'll just be there in your phone (just like how you hardsSPLd your phone, that doesn't show up as a program).

My tip from my own experience: Try as many of them (radio-roms and ROMs) as you can!
Purpose: if you try as many as you can, you will eventually find one that will suit your needs. If you stick with one radio-rom or one ROM, you might not know what you're missing out on with others!
*Radio-roms depend on ROM and location. Not every radio-rom will be the same. I've tried 6 radio-roms, and I ended up with .17 being the best for me. So, try them and see which one is best for you.*

Nope. Radio-roms only determine your phone capabilities (signal strength, data connections, and battery life).
Your Today screen only changes with custom ROMs. Custom ROMs change your Today screen to whatever it comes with.

Radios
Most radio come with custom ruu and are as easy as double click to install.

Change your ROM to a custom one, and also change your radio.
for enabeling sound in android you have to run
CLRCAD.exe (after pressing on the exe nothing happens, that's normal)
then run HARET.exe
Sound have to work now. Ahh you have to use a radio higher than 2.07.

Follow this guide,
Hey all!
As you can see in my signature, i'm a HD2 user and i'm currently porting android, it's now been 3 months since i last used winmo!!!
To cut down to the important; my brother recently bought HTC Magic!
Since i like modding a lot, and since i have felt the beauty of android 2.2 (Froyo) on my HD2, knowing that Magic is android 1.5 by default, i want to port the latest ROM/android to his cell phone!
It's a PVT32A i guess (its written on the box 288MB RAM)
Is there is any froyo ROM for magic now?!
Or eclair?!
Stock or custom?!
I prefer stock roms if possible with froyo or eclair!
If not, what is the latest/fastest/best ROM for magic right now?! Please point me to it!
In htc site i found this http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=267&cat=2&dl_id=862;
did anyone tried it?! Is that android 1.5 or more?!
Please help me guys!
I know i should be reading but HD2 has got many bugs still in android to keep me completely busy in reading there besides that my brother doesn't like to read.
Thanks
Simple.... follow my guide to root and get custom recovery...(check my signature)... then apply stock magic 2.1 with sense found in development section... or the stock 2.2 without sense also found in development!
Good luck!

Excuse me mumilover but i have many concerns, if you or anyone can help me:
1-i've read that there is a "check for system update" in the settings/about phone but i don't have it!!! that is weird!!! I was thinking of updating the system first to see where that leads me!
2-in your root guide you use adb installing method; well i have never used it yet, is it that simple by only opening a command prompt in windows and writing "adb install C:\roottools\App\UniversalAndroot_1.6.1.apk" for example i can install this app if this is its location on pc?!?
Excuse my ignorance, but does this work simply by connecting the cell to the pc va usb (with debugging mode on) or it does need anything extra to make it work?!?
3-the biggest difficulty is that, by default, there are no file manager included and no market application!!!! which means one can not install any app!!! No way to download it and no way to install it if one can't access the SDcard!!!
Is that why we need adb?!?
4-How can i know my radio version and Hboot?! (in winmo it used to be displayed on booting)
5-Do you mean by "and get custom recovery" that i should do also steps 6, 7 and 8?! or only 7?! or maybe 7 and 8?! (coz 6 seems a bit freaky "Using this spl will cut your ram in half and make the 3.5mm jack useless!"... )
Thanks a lot
I can only say, that you have to read the guide 1-3 times more...

It very simple to follow, and i have written all the steps need.
Just do it and revert back if you get any problems.
Please, if you get problems, then write them in the guide thread and not here... to make things organized :0)

I have TMous HD2.was have magldr with win 7.tried to back 6.5 rom.then again and again boot screen tried hspl and radio and more rom.some thing wrong i did.then boot dead.then some one helped me and boot is back
but spl 2.00 and strange giving security unlocked massage and *** never seen boot screen like that
Some roms are not working for me.and some works but again boot screen after 100% done
please check the screen shot
what to do next?
Ok you have got a strange SPL that I have never seen before. So I Googled it and just about everything that Google pulled up is in Chinese or Japanese. I don't know how to tell the difference so sorry don't want to offend anyone by saying that. I did pull up a thread here on XDA about someone who had this SPL and it has solved in the title so you might want to check it out, it is only five pages long so not a lot to have to read. sorry but I don't have time to read it myself as I am a little busy today. Here is a link to the thread. And here is what Google pulled up. Also the sites with Asian writing that Google pulled up were talking about unlocking the phone somehow so maybe that is why it say Security Unlocked at the to p of your bootloader screen. Hope this helps and I will be checking back here to see how you are coming along. Oh and I have no doubt that this strange SPL you have is the reason your ROM did not flash or will not boot up. I sort of feel like the flash was good but the SPL version you have is no good for the ROM so it can not boot.
Look in the "tmous test and stock roms" thread, post 1, at the end of the roms list is a version of Hspl edited to work with spl 2 BUT not sure it works with 2.00.1000
Also, many of those Chinese sites mentioned above are concerning non tmous phones so the process they mention to fix it involves non tmous roms which will kill your phone.
Basically you flashed a manufacturing test rom/spl which doesn't allow itself to be updated normally.

Yes, load the following files from the lowest number to the highest, checking each one to see if it has the watermark. When you get to a version with no watermark, that one can be used with HSPL.

thanks for stepping in there Sam as I do not have time to read all of the stuff in the links Google pulled up for me. I was kinda wondering about if those ROMs were being talked about in those forums were compatible with the TMOUS. Also check your e-mail Sam lol.

What Stevedebi is saying is start with ROM 2.01 and work your way down the list of ROMs from there as they are listed in order from oldest to news as they are listed. And it does not matter if they are test or stock ROM just work your way through them until you find the one without the Watermark and the you can flash HSPL again.

The first few tmous roms were built to run on regular hd2 (or at least on non tmous spec test devices) presumably cos the tmous didn't exist to test them on. The first two have radio 2.04.50.x and 2.05.50.x which although they are ..50..s they are actually ..51..s.
@op sorry to read this thread ended up like this. Just goes to show that with the very best of intentions, its still absolutely critical that you (not "you" personally,,, the person being advised) takes any offered advice and confirms it to their own satisfaction. Especially when it comes to the tmous.
You can thank t mo for being greedy and wanting something "better", causing HTC to inadvertently build a phone with an "instant brick" switch, which you just accidentally tripped.

Welcome to XDA forums! I'm just a fellow member, but I still want to welcome you here
First, do you know if you have a 32A or 32B device? You have posted that you have a Desire S - do you have both that and Magic? Be sure to read everything you can about rooting and Android in general before trying to install new software on it. You see, I managed to brick my Magic without learning enough before action!
Secondly, CyanogenMod Wiki is a great resource for checking out what all these things mean. See it here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Terminology
For example, answers to your question:
SPL
Second Program Loader, in conjunction with the IPL comprise a device's bootloader. Aside from bootstrapping Android, the bootloader also fulfills various diagnostic functions. One of these functions is the manipulation of data in the device's internal flash ram. Depending on the SPL installed, the user might be able to flash signed NBH files, flash nand images, and more. Note that the SPL is installed and operates independently of the Android build that runs atop it. Generally speaking, there are two variants of the SPL: Stock, which is 'locked' and is installed on most devices from the factory, and Engineering, which is 'unlocked' and has to be manually flashed - usually after 'rooting'.

That's an AWESOME price! I bought mine for £150 last summer!
But to the point - have you gotten any useful information out of the CM wiki? XDA Wiki has great articles, too, but it isn't as fulfilling. With ambition and good resources, you'll learn what you need fast and possibly in a week or a few days you can be able to take care of ROM flashing, customizing your phone a lot more deeply than changing a few settings, getting full access (that people should always have) to your phone's all capabilities and even using it as a WiFi box!
Oh, and if you find anything here on the forums useful or good, press the thanks button. You have 5 clicks a day for it. That's a good way to show the poster appreciation so they can see their work worthful
You've got to take into account it's 2 years old now, plus i got it used of ebay ;( - Oh and CyanogenMod have stopped supporting it.
SO do you think it's worth £37, or should i just say no, or sell it off when it comes? I'm confused at the moment, because CyanogenMod have stopped supporting it so i don't know what to do, and also don't know if it's worth the money i paid for it.

Hi, the title says it all, i just want to know what a radio & a SLPL is? Yes i'm a n00b, and there i have no shame in calling myself that becuase everyone starts from somewhere. Looking forward to learning, so hopefully someone can help me.
I've made this thread because i'm looking to put the 'Ginger Yoshi' rom on the HTC Magic, and it says you will need the new radio, and some SLPL? Also how do you put these on the phone, & where you download it from? Thanks

I think all your answers may well be here:

Once you've got past root and recovery, you then can change spl/radio according to your desired rom.

IMO it very well is. A good device with decent hardware, especially for the price.
They've stopped supporting it only OFFICIALLY, but there are still many development working on it for Magic, and there are a few good ROMs - like Ginger Yoshi, Carz12's CyanogenMod 7.1 and of course SebastianFM's HTC Sense ROM.
Read, read, read. Mdacompactuser posted a good link
Cheers everyone. Hopefully we can all think that's it a 'mission' & work together on this . Right i've learnt that i can root the phoen via superoneclick, and get the superuser access. Ok next i was going to do everything via rom manager, however now that option is basically gone for me, as CM are not supporting it, but i can flash the recovery from there. I have chosen clockwork recovery, so flashing it via rom manager should be good. I'll have a look at the link you sent me, and hopefully we can regenerate interest in this device again, and make it gain popularity, so we can be on the official forum boards, instead of the low activity devices. That's the plan, everyone up for it? xD>

If you look in this forum alone, you'll find everything you need to carry out a rom update. As Kanttii pointed out its crucial you know what your phone is before you do anything. I'd stick to guides found on this forum as opposed to ones found elsewhere on the web, simply because the people who wrote the guides on here are more likely to respond to specific queries you may have.
I have to say I found mumilovers posts very complete and useful, so personally I'd start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756918
and then go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824435
Obviously there are other methods, but like I said before, a guide is much better when the author is around to help when you get something wrong or something doesn't make sense to you.
Thanks the phone will probably come today through the post, so i'll read the threads you sent me links to, and hopefully i'll be able to understand most of it . Thanks again .
Wow i managed to also root my phone without bricking it, and installed clockwork mod recovery. I downloaded set cpu, but i'm on default android 2.2 so i can't overclock it. Now i'm confused about how to put a custom rom on it.
EDIT: Right now i'm a bit scared to install custom rom on it, but i got a question:
In rom manager, when i go to the download section, i see a rom called Roalex, is that a good one?
The top one on that is called: COS-DS-071822011_I1? SO if i click install on that will it be a good one?
