Is it possible to still root new recertified droids? The new bootloader is supposed to stop us but that never seems to last long. If it is rootable I'll probably be swapping my incredible for one in the next few days

Yes there is a way to root for all current system versions
I just got a new one Tuesday and after a couple tries z4 root worked just fine.

Is this new update gingerbread?
Should I update?
Pro's & con's?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
It's not Gingerbread. Fixes a few things under the hood and gives some new crapware in Madden. No real reason not to update that I'm aware of.
so far i havent heard a real good reason to update....
not doing it = avoiding hassle.
I got the prompt for install this morning I'm rooted in successfully installed but will z4 still work now?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I meant I un-rooted THEN got the update.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

Yep.. had to do 2x but am good now, thanks.

Hello im looking for a radio for the X I have a friend who has a htc and he upgrade the radio on this phone but I can't find one for the X thanks

What radio are you running now? Check MyDroidWorld.com. P3 has the most up to date system, kernal, and baseband packaged seperately and flashable through bootstrap.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Out of curiosity why are you wanting to update your radio? If u have a stock rooted phone just go to about phone, and system updates and that should give you the newest radio possible.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Why bc when my friend updated his he is getting better service I just wanted to see if it was possible
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Flashing the wrong radio is a very good way to turn your phone into a paper weight, at least for a while. Unless you are getting terrible service, I wouldn't worry about flashing a new radio. I'm not sure you can on the dx anyway.

You might be able to with an sbf, buylt I've been over in the fascinate and incredible forums in the land of unlocked bootloaders where anything is possible. So hit my thanks meter just because I'm going to tell you I don't haveva ****ing clue
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
i am almost certain that the bootloader will not let you change the RADIO and it def wont let you touch the KERNEL
HTC and other companies dont lock there bootloaders like moto does your best bet is to wait there is talk of moto releasing the restrictions on the this to allow developers more access to there hardware and if or when that happens this will be easier but until then i would say your SOL
Has P3Droid obtained full access to the X? Or was the GB leak only allowed because it was a leak of the official. Will CM7 be possible one day?

The only real progress I know of is the team working with kexec(sp). They bypassed the bootloader, but need drivers. Dev is pretty still...
As for P3, I was sure he had a dev phone that wasn't locked down at all. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
No p3 has dev phones. I think they got the wifi driver and are waiting on bluetooth. Although I haven't seen any new posts on the official bluetpoth thread for a while.

Wasn't there something a few weeks ago where someone 'discovered' the bootloader keys and told Motorola to release them or he would? Or is my brain playing tricks again?

I'm new to this device. Came from a og dinc. I'm liking the device so far but I would really like to put cm10.1 on it. Anything I should watch out for when I root this thing?

As long as you have not taken the update in the past week, just use Matt's Utility in these forums to root/unlock (version 1.20 for 4.1.2). Nothing to it really.
How do I know if I took the update? I just got this device yesterday!

Post a screenshot of your about phone screen. Also, of you're asking about a build from May, I'm petty sure that's the update. The last one was from March.
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
Your device probably shipped with 4.1.1. DO NOT accept any updates that come your way
Please post a screenshot of your about phone screen.
Also, I would recommend you unlock your bootloader after rooting.

Never mind I can't root. Just missed it. Hope they fix it soon.

I've been rejecting an update recently.
My phone was built 4-5-13. Android 4.1.2
So it's safe to root? Keep rejecting the update? All I really want, for now, is superuser access. Well that, and to be able to turn off these stupid system updates lol.. But the last phone I rooted was a Dinc lol...
There is no need to do the entitlement check anymore guys, foxfi finally updated and made it where it will work with maxx, mini, and last but not least, Ultra. If you have done the entitlement check then you are set, but if you got caught in the updates and didn't ever do it this is the way to get tethering for only 8 dollars one time!!

Didn't work. I bought the app a long time ago. Wish they would get it right without certificates needed.

WOOOHOOO Confirmed FoxFi working again, I also bought it many moons ago, maybe those having trouble are trying to use the free version?
Very much appreciated, the only reason I ever rooted my phone was for tether. Now after OTA there's a cryptogram of crap to go thru for root,
:good:

Same here I'm not trying to have to root again. Hopefully this will work after they send the next official update after the soak test.

I am on the soak and maybe that is affecting things?

I'm not part of any soak test that I'm aware of, I did sign up many moons ago but never received any official correspondence.
