[Q] Alarm Sound Playback. - Omnia 7 General

I use the alarm feature in WP7 and have set it to repeat. The first time that the alarm plays it is ok. From th esecond time onwards the palyback is interupted quite often. I have found this on a HTC HD7 and two different Omnias that I have used. So it seems to be an OS fault and not device specific. ANyone else come accross this issue?

X1 Speaker intermitted stops working w/R3AA

I have the X1i with generic_uk R3AA010 and found that sometimes (about 5 times now since install) the speaker does not play a sound!
I fix that by turning the media player on and play a music and then after a short cracking it starts playing the sound again.
But if an alarm would sound or the phone would ring... no sound would be heard.
Anybody else experiencing this or might it be a hardware failure?
Almost sure that with the R2AA it did not do that!
PS
I think it happens after a Reminder Alarm went off....!
yes the same problem here, so annoying I was just ringtones off. I fixed it doing a hard reset ... I've had this trouble at least 4 times, and I think that it always happens next to charge it (not by computer), is it the same for you?
Do you have MS Voice Command installed??? I do!
So far I have isolated it to happen right after a Reminder Alarm went off.
I don't know if that is the reason alone or combined with the fact that I also have MS Voice Command installed. It could be that the phone does not know WHERE to play the Reminder Alarm and perhaps that messes up the speaker output...?
So it would be interesting if YOU too have voice command.

Anyone else having problems with the alarm clock not ringing on the Magic?

Sometimes, my default android alarm just doesn't ring in the morning, even though i'm sure it is supposed to ring..
The screen just turns on at the alarm time, giving me an option of snooze or dismiss, but there is no sound or vibrate notification at all.
I've googled it up, and seems like a ton of ppl are having this issue.
Anyone here know a quick fix regarding this? thanks!

I found that the stock sounds were too short to wake me up so I downloaded a new clock app for free called digital clock. It has worked great for the last week I have been using it
change time zone
I have the same problem until i change the timezone to the correct one, then it worked for me.
I had this problem with my Rogers Magic also -
When you're inside the "choose an alarm sound" menu and scrolling through the list,
if you press the volume buttons on the side of the phone then you can manually adjust
the alarm sound (mine was set to 0). Not sure what causes it to set to zero,
presumably when you take the phone off silent mode it sometimes fails to update the
alarm as well? This still needs looking at because it means the alarm volume resets
to zero of its own accord, but it can at least be managed by manual readjustment.
Hope this helps!
P.S. It might also be worth noting that when I was having this problem, no
third-party alarm apps would play the stock alarm sounds either.

lol I had this problem way back in my g1 days. I've tried everything from not closing the app from not allowing the phone to sleep. It seems to work at
random. This bug never seems to have been addressed with any updates or in the roms. I just use my alarm clock, its a hell of a lot more reliable. If you travel just get one of those clam shell clocks like my dad uses haha.

Car Locator v2.62 Ringtone Bug

I have installed the Car Locator app on my Desire (stock ROM). It is a great app and is very usefull, however it has a really annoying problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.
This app has a feature to set an alarm after you have been away from your car for a certain time, should you be parked at a meter or something. Nice idea but....
The alarm works just fine, but now it has set my default ringtone to the alarm sound! I change it back, but then the next time someone rings me, its this alarm sound again. I have since uninstalled it, but the problem persists!
I believe there is a newer version (2.92) but I'm wary to update to it.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Will updating fix it?
New to Android and XDA. Please excuse my ignorance!

HD2 Sound Crash

Hello everyone,
It's been 4 weeks now since I own the HD2. It's quite a beast, I love it. Except there seems to be an issue with my device when it comes to sound (anything: mp3, youtube, ringtones, alarms, even the sound played when you take a photo): it crashes. No matter what I do, no matter when (idle or in use), it makes it crash.
I did the test and couldn't have the phone being used with sound in the same session for more than 4 hours in a row, or it would crash. Sometimes, after a fresh reboot, the first incoming message, leading the phone to play a ringtone to tell me I got a new message, would make the phone crash. Instantly (sound wouldn't play at time, or just the first half-second would play and then nothing or infinite replay of the first 0.5 sec of the sound - quite annoying btw).
So I move to vibration only. And tada! No more crashes. The phone has been up for more than 160 hours now and it never crashed. I used 20MB of my data connection, sent 55 SMS, received tons of emails (like over 200), used the phone functionality for about 150 minutes and everything works fine. Took countless amount of photos and everything just works.
BUT! I miss the sound! I want it. I can't use the phone as an alarm when I'm on a business trip! I can't hear a ringtone when the phone is left on the kitchen table and I'm in the living room (vibrate does the work when the phone is in my pocket or when I'm in a meeting, which doesn't happen a lot).
How can I know if the issue is hardware or software related? Is there something I could install to trace a crash and see what is going wrong? Sometimes, I can use the phone with sound for a couple of hours and other times the very first sound would make it crash. How can I fix this without have to return my phone (bought it in China, wish I could get a replacement but now I'm back in Montreal/Canada).
is your phone branded? where did you buy it?
LG
Similar problem
I have a similar problem. My HTC HD2 crashes when i turn the volume to max.
I have tried uninstalling the SRS WOW application but i does not help.
When booting into Froyo Android v2.2 it doesn't crash but the sound is distant somehow. I can listen to mp3 songs but the vocals will often disappear.
I bought the phone with 3 in Sweden.
Flashed with Kumars custom rom.
Please help!

Alarm clock ?

couldn't find anything in the user manual - is there any way to get it to sound longer than 1 minute?
i riipped the sound file from that samsung video (where are you going today) but it only plays for one minute
so i figured it might be something i did in editing the file, so i went back to the stock sounds, and still only plays for one minute.
btw - to that poster with problems - when i left my phone charging overnite, apparently the "battery fully charge notification" stopped the alarm action -
I use Gentle Alarm. Haven't had a problem with it. One of my favorite functions is the ability to choose an artist from you music collection instead of a ring tone. When ever the alarm goes off the app will pick a random song from that artist to play.
but how long will the alarm sound for ? mine stops dead at one minute
I'm also interested in an alarm replacement. To make matters worse than the one minute time limit is that if I don't hit snooze it doesn't go off again, even though I have it set to go off five times. The stock alarm is pretty lame.
Gentle Alarm will keep going. I'm a fairly deep sleeper and I've never slept through it.
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant using the XDA app
thanks - i'll give it a try
Nice, thanks. I already like it as long as it works. The playlists and night display are bonus.
