Hi guys,
I'm new in this forum and in the world of Android! I'm using HTC HD2 and I want to use it with Android
So i'm just starting my questions..
My first one is: What is the difference between "SD card method" and "NAND method"?
Thank you in advance!
The SD method would mean that you would be running android from the SD card. The NAND method would be running Android from the phones internal memory. Its up to you which one you go with. Have a look around and see what you like. Then search for some guides. This should get you started.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915663
Dont mean to be rude to you but I'd suggest that you do some more reading in the hd2 forum, coz your question has been answered countless of times.
P.s. welcome to XDA!
Thank you guys! I'm now starting to read..

Is there an Android ROM for T-Mobile HTC HD2 which can run directly without any loaders(With No WinMo. Direct boot into Android)?
Running Android without Windows Mobile is not available on any HD2 yet.
Also, you'd be better questions posting in the correct forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=743

please search the forums before asking a question. especially posting a new thread in the development section.
and no, no android builds can boot on internal memory. all of them still require you to run Haret from winmo.

This post would have been slighty usefull if a link to searchoption (with results) had been added to the big fat red letters. Now this post is just plain useless and tells us more about the poster then it does about the topic.
He just asked the most asked question in the Development forum. Congrats and welcome to Planet EARTH!!
Good Luck (and you might have got the answer of your question as well)
Dude please read, spend sometime in reading the stickies, it'll help you..!!!
Don't be so lazy..!!!
Shakz why is that once in a week some1 has to post a thread like this..???
I flashed MDJ revolution NAND rom, it looks it partionate my SD or erased everything that was on it,
My first question is, are the data that were on it lost?
If, not, How to get these data back?
Thanks in advance
I don't see anything in the revolution thread (official install parts - first 2 posts) that say anything about erasing your SD card. So, I think something else must have happened.
I didn't noticed anything in the first two posts too, I read carefully what to do and watched the tuto videos, anyway, maybe mr "the atheist" can bring some clarification.

I have absolutely no sympathy for you and tbh I hope you lost everything as it would teach you a valuable lesson, ie to read stuff properly and learn whats what before jumping in.
Second, does this look like a support forum to you?
Please post in correct sections, this is the dev forum.

To answer your question, up to now XDA looks to me as a community of people extremely competent that accept often to share their job with the biggest number, including non developers as I am. I used to flash roms for about 3 years now, but I am not at all a developers or an expert in computing and programming. I followed the tutorials and read up to my understanding of those flashing process. And sorry to say that, but yes, I thought that this community of people would have been of some help to the problem I am facing right now...
Hey guys (n girls ;D),
I just wanted to ask briefly, whether or not it is possible to dual-boot windowsphone 7 from NAND and android from SD? I know there is a chinese tutorial, but my chinese is rather bad
Can anyone provide a tutorial? I am interested in using MDJ's revolution rom from SD card and windows7 for fun purposes from NAND. If you can assist me in getting that thing running I can write it up as a tutorial for this section.
thanks in advance,
jokeR
(sorry for posting in the wrong forums, i would appreciate if a MOD moved the thread.)
However, if someone stumbles upon this thread, here is the solution that worked for me:
as IMFLOFLO stated, there already is a tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
moreover, in order to get the MDJ builds running one has to use another ROOTFS.IMG file, that was provided by VUA777 http://www.multiupload.com/UY49ZO7MTP
thanks for your help!
Can you link the chinese tutorial maybe someone will translate it plz
and have you read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
There is Tutorials on this already.
Did you even try searching. This is also the wrong place for this thread. Last time I looked it was development not Q&A.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815 try this..... awesome.. me too testing
thanks for the link, but its stating 2 sd cards. For some strange reason wp7 reception is better then the nand android build.

How did you do it?
I thought that we must do trick in order to boot from sd.
It is instructed that we must put one line command in the img file.
And to do that, we must mount the .img in the linux environtment.
I tried to replace the original roofs.img with your file, but it doesnt work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Sorry, my mistake . After I read and read, I finally manage to boot to sd Android..Thanks for the file that you provided in the download link (I pressed the button thanks for that )

The use of 2 micro sd is only for making image of your current WP7, once the image is created, you will only need 1 card to use and 1 as your backup image.
You are the same with me, I also have better signal reception in WP7 than the android. But we cannot generally take it for granted..

If that was trying to say that I want to be a mod then you are mistaken as I have no want/need or any intention of ever been a mod. I just want you to know that I own/run multiple forums of my own aswell as own and run a torrent site.
The reason I posted that reply about this been a dev forum is because this IS teh dev forum. This isnt the place for people to be asking questions like this, PLUS if you had read the stickies you would know that the staff have specifically ASKED people to point out and report wrongly posted threads!!

As you know, because you've read the stickied thread, the staff have specifically asked people to point out and report wrongly posted threads by "report(ing) it and in the field where it asks you why you reported it, type where you think the thread should be."
When the mods move the thread, the OP will see it has been moved, and see the mod reason why.

And your point?
I reported it to staff AND pointed it out to the OP. Just because I report it at same time doesnt mean I cant make teh OP aware prior to him been informed by staff when its eventually moved.
Wont blame u, i guess u didn't see..
Anyways i have superam 1.5 by darkstone running as sd build and my nand is windows phone 7..

Hey,
Was wondering if it was possible to upgrade a NAND rom without loosing all my apps, contacts, images etc. Reason being that I have a very early build which has some missing features such as GPS and I really need them. I have been using this build for a while now an have added new contacts, installed apps and have a lot of data on it generally. Is there any way that I can update to a new build whilst keeping my data?
Thanks in advance

in this topic a video show u how can u upgrade u're rom with ClockWorkMode.
It amazes me that there are people in these forums who are smart enough to to install android rom on there phone, but they still can't figure out where to post a question. There is a forum for questions and there is a forum android development, and yet they still pick the development forum for questions. Why is this concept so hard to understand. Haven't you noticed that there isn't any other questions being asked in this forum except yours?

Its because they know more people view the nand development forum than the Q&A forum so they have more chance of getting an answer to their question.
I noticed a while ago a mod from another xda forum posting a question in the nand dev forum for that very same reason.
Simple solution, don't answer people who start question threads in dev forums until they are moved to the proper place.
Regards.
Titanium Backup
The name is Titanium Backup

So you don't want people to answer your question in the nand dev forums until it is moved to Q&A forums. Then why didn't you just post in the Q & A forum in the first place. You saw another person posting in the nand dev forum, so now you feel like you should do the same. So now other people will see your question and then will post there own questions in the nand dev forum and the trend will continue. The last thing everyone wants is the nand dev forums flooded with questions. By the way, a quick search in the forums, you could have found an answer to your original question.

If you bothered to read my reply i was agreeing with the person i quoted "YOU" and was only stating the reason some people are posting questions in the Dev forum. Example,,,, the mod who had posted a question in the Nand Dev forum for that very reason.
I was also saying people should not answer questions put in the dev forums until it has been moved to the proper place. They will then have to wait until it has been moved which could be hours if the mods are not about or busy. Getting a quick reply in the dev forum only encourages others to do the same.
If you can find any question i have started in a Dev form you can have my HD2 for free.
Idiot.
I seem to have started a row. I appoligise for starting this thread where I did. I hope you two can still be friends! Thanks for the help will use the clockwork mod as soon as I can!

You can't use CWM unless the ROM is CMW friendly.
You need Titanium Backup - free in the market. (The paid version is WELL worth it though!)
thanx is just needid this

When I click that link I get the following. Has the thread been deleted or am I not permitted access because of my post count? It says you cannot post with less than 10 posts, but it doesn't say you cannot view. Am I doing something wrong?
knickfan5745, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Sorry guys, I'm a noob!!! If I install the ROM using NativeSD, I'll be able to use the MicroSD capacity (mine is 16GB) as the internal memory of the phone. And then I'll not have to link apps again...? PLEASE, ANSWER ME!!!
First of all, DO NOT SHOUT.
You need to search. This question's answer is almost EVERYWHERE. You create an ext partition, and that partition becomes your internal. No need to link apps or anything.
PLEASE search before posting.
Also, PLEASE read this thread.
Thanks
