Just wondering if its possible to turn the volume rocker off, everytime I grab my phone I end up turning my sound all the way down and it's very annoying.

i'm just kidding, but i couldn't resist....

Yeah they need some type of way to lock it.

Theres an app called ring guard that reverts the ring tone volume when accidentally hit. It's pretty good because I used to hit out all the time.
If you don't like that then I suggest acquiring a case the protects the volume from being so easily pressed.

Riggs may be kidding but it's actually the truth. The volume keys are useful, why would you want them disabled? The best solution to your problem really is to just stop pressing them. I know the problem, I had my own issues with them... for about 2 days. Then I just stopped pressing them.
Don't downgrade your device, upgrade yourself

Thanks everyone for your replies, no I'm not holding it wrong but I am left handed and the volume rocker is always against my hand. When typing like I am right now I occasional hit the volume by accident. Also I have car holder and that always hits em as well, didn't have that problem with my evo so I was just asking a question. I appreciate the jokes because they are funny and I thank the only one of you all who actually gave me some good advice.

I use Volume locker - it still allows you to press the button, but does not change the setting until you confirm it on the screen. It seems to be the best solution sort of editing the text file on the phone that contains the button mappings.
Good luck

I use volume locker also by hourdb in the market...I can vouch that its a great app that does wonders...also comes with many fine tune settings to control many different scenarios depending on your needs.

Searching for Screenshot app for Wildfire

Hi Xda-ians,
Currently, I'm trying i)drocap2, and ii)ShootMe, neither both of them, I feel it doesn't works well for my Wildfire.
So, would anyone suggest the screenshot app for Wildire?
Thanks.
Shootme works well.
And if you are on cm7, there is an inbuilt screenshot application which u can access it anytime by long pressing the power button. But it cannot take the app menu options which can be took by shootme app.

Yes, I'm on cm7.0.3. What do u mean by long press Power button? If I do so, it shows a dropdowm list silent mode, reboot, power off...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Don't know whether it is present in cm 7.0.3 or not. But as I can remember it is included in nightly #140 (or maybe earlier). So it should be there in the latest nightlies.
On long press of power button, u will see the options silent mode, airplane mode, choose profile, screenshot, reboot, power off. Here if u select screenshot, that screen before the long pressing power button will be taken as screen shot. The picture will be saved as .png to the path /sdcard/DCIM/Screenshots/

Thank for clearly explained. I think my phone have something wrong even 7.0.3 but not properly worked... here it's about my phone info. If I try to press long Power button will no see the screenshot as what you explain

Its a feature introduced in the new nightlies (Since it was introduced much after 7.0.3). When you long press power button, there will be a screenshot option, along with the ones like Power Off, Reboot, Airplane mode etc.
BTW, if you are wondering, I have taken this screenshot using the ddms.bat tool in Android SDK.
I'm not sure what wrong with my phone but here is the screenshot (I'm trying to use 'ShotMe' sometime works and sometime not)
Thanks for all your replies.
RE: screenshot app for wildfire
I know à app That doesnt require root.
No root Screenshot it it costs 3,55 euro
PS:srry for my bad english
Get to latest cm7, based on android 2.3.5, short press power off button(not make it as short, which makes ur phone sleep, hold for a while), see what u need..
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Thank you for the tip, since cm7 has no sense et all, so I would prefer to wait 2.3.x with sense. Anyways, thanks to all of u for making myself clear on this.

"Slide to power off"

Similar to the ios devices that have the slide to power off I know we have the prompt that gives us mire such as reboot, airplane mode ect., but im doing some experimenting with creating an entire ios UI within Android without the need for root, some examples are in the pics provided, but It would really top everything off if I could get the slide to power off confirmation, If anyone knows of one already created please provide me with a link
-Thanks!

Could you please explain the slide to power off feature to us non-iOS guys? I have never heard of this feature.
I think that you need root to power off or reboot.
You can execute
Code:
su -c reboot
for rebooting.
You will need a rooted phone for that. We can help you making the sliding feature work, but rebooting and shutting down requires root.
Well im not really an ios person either haha, but I am speaking of an app that could just add an action to the power button to prompt with the same "slide to power off" confirmation as the iphone type in "slide to power off iphone" in google and go to either images or a YouTube video abd you'll be sure to see what I am referring to.

As I have already said, only on rooted phones an app can reboot or power off.
Just thought, didn't try it, but maybe using the buybox binary for non-rooted devices you could do a hot reboot using :
Code:
busybox killall system_server
I don't know if it includes the killall applet or not.
Could you further explain this example please?

You hold down the power button, and instead of the power menu, it loads a slidable widget like thing at the bottom of the screen.(Same thing as the iPhone lockscreen). Inside this "widget" it says "Slide to power off". You slide an object across this "widget", and then it will shut down your device.

Thank you for your explanation.
@Lilryke: You will need to create your own ROM or mod another ROM for that.

I think this is Battery Stats Plus?! Have you installed this App?
This shows your phone is on vibrate, try turning the volume up a bit and it will dissappear

Drag down settings, expand the quick settings and the vibrate option should be highlighted in green , if you press this the loudspeaker icon should dissappear or if the phone is on mute just the two squiggly lines left and right of the icon should dissappear ?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
No on the screenshot it's not this that I want to delete but if you look closer it's the little Battery in red that I want to remove
I think he means the little bar under the Volume Symbol. So it has nothing to do wie Volume or Vibrate.
Strange - in App Market are some screenshos of Battery Stats Plus, on 2 of them are exactly the same little battery)bar in statusbar.
i dont think he's talking about the muted speaker/vibration icon, if you look closely you can see a little red and green icon that looks like a battery in the same spot.
I have no idea what it is though... sorry...

Want to freeze the volume limiter 'Nanny' but can't find it

Just rooted the phone today and DL'd TiBu and am looking for the process that causes the volume to decrease with that ridiculous 'Listening at full volume may cause your head to explode' stupid A warning so I can freeze the thing. Tired of constantly having to increase the volume to full when listening to music and then that stupid warning popping up. What is that process called so I can freeze its azz???

Well in the past i always heard having the percentage showing kills the battery faster. I had always believed that since it seemed that way with the nexus one but you could be right. I would love to change the battery to one of the custom ones though

Well, that didn't work. The only thing it changes is no notification it's dropping the volume. It still IS dropping the volume about a third down. That is what I want to prevent, not necessarily the notification that it's doing it but the volume drop. Any ideas how to stop it from dropping the volume when I use Google Music, PowerAmp, Pandara, etc???

I use tasker for that. As soon as I plug headphones in I have it set to move volume to max. I've never found another way unfortunately.

That's one thing I miss about my old Razr Maxx, the Moto task manager that allowed me to change values during certain times of day or during certain actions. Does Tasker work pretty well doing that?? I'll charge my phone overnight at times and when it hits 100% it turns the screen on and it never goes off. And the volume is full blast at night and I'll get a task and I'll nearly jump out of my socks when it sounds.

Volume warning

Hi is there a way to disable the earphone volume warning? Thanks
Sent from my SM-G950F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Not that I'm aware of, but if you just make it a habit to put the volume full after every reboot (and dismiss the warning), it won't warn you again until the next reboot
Ok thanks. I'm just asking because I saw a video where someone disable it on galaxy s8

Settings - sound and vibrations - volume - click the three dots, media volume limiter, on, set all the way up. You can try that.

I power cycled my phone and it looked like it did not reset, that was because I had no Bluetooth hooked up after the reboot. You are correct, it does reset, and this is on a snapdragon phone in the US.
