Yeah I would like to know how long it SHOULD take, havnt really tested it out myself, so i cant really say how long it takes for mine to recharge, i place it in my chargingstand as soon as i dont use it.

Hey, I drained my Vega till it was absolutely dead! I did this as i was curious how long it would take to recharge. Dissapointing.
It took 4 hours 20mins!!

My Pob Movii from 20% to 100%, it took 3 hours exactly. So, I think from 0 to 100% it should take between 3:15 and 3:30 hours to fully charge the battery.

I also drained the PoV/Vega completely (or as much as you can, as it powers it self off when its empty) and charged it to 100% and it took about 3,5 hours or so.

My device charges about 3 hours (230V)

Dood, Its a bit ridiculous.

Ok, I have read literally countless threads about the less than desirable battery life of the G1. However, no situations quite like this.
I bought my Dev G1 used (used for 3 weeks, supposedly). I was noticing that the battery was lasting like two hours, of course I was using it, and it was downloading some large updates.
However, Last night I went to bed about 11:30, and my phone was at 100%. I put the phone on standby, (because I didn't want to charge it all night on a full battery). I woke up @ 6am, and the phone was completely dead. I will stay on for about 30 sec and then shut off.
Thats a bit ridiculous! 6 hours on standby???
I left the phone off, and I am now charging it, in an attempt to "Condition" the battery, but Im not convinced that the battery isnt bad.
Any Opinions/comments?
**EDIT: Oh yea, I forgot to tell you. "Use only 2g networks" is checked, and GPS and Wi-Fi is off.
1. did you check that it's an original battery and not some no-name?
2. as you said, try to condition it for ~2 days, always let it run dead, try to switch it on again once or twice, keep it off and charge it 2 more hours after the led is green. repeat this four, five times, if nothing changes, call t-mobile and complain. they might send you a new one.
Sounds odd for sure. If I leave my fully charged dev phone on standby (and 3G no less) overnight it's never below 80% when I wake up 6-9 hours later. Usually 85-87%.

Its not a no-name battery. I am an AT&T customer. I hope that conditioning it helps.
sorry, didn't pay attention
Its all good. Im just really frustrated. My Tilt lasted me two days of moderate use. I honestly need at least 6-7 hours of moderate use out of this phone, or Ill be forced to sell it.
I got 28 hours of moderate use out of my phone yesterday and it was only down to 20% at that point. You said you take it off the charger once it's full? You should leave it plugged in for a while longer.
Yea, see I left it plugged in pretty much all day yesterday. I was tethering with it, and the USB charges while tethering, Correct? So when I took it off it was fully charged.
don't charge it via usb, ac/dc seems to work better.
don't know why but many people say so..
Update: I plugged it in to my wall charger @ 8:00 am this morning. I just got a green LED. Ill leave it plugged up until about 1:30pm, and post the results later tonight. I hope I can see some difference...
By the way, I notice also that when its plugged into the USB, it gets VERY HOT around the battery compartment
Yes it does get very hot. Tell us what happens when you unplug it later. I noticed this with one of my old Window's Mobile devices, the battery lived less than 15 seconds.
Have you tried using the "Watts" program to measure battery stats.
Maybe you can post a screenshot after leaving it in standby for about 3-4 hours.

Never let a lithium-ion battery run until it is dead!!!!!! They aren't like NICADs, they have no memory effect, and this will damage them. See "Lithium-ion Battery" - Wikipedia

On my ATT Tilt I had 2 extra batteries and could barely make it thru a 10 hour shift at work with all three. Now with my G1, I have the same 2 spare batteries, and still barely make it thru a 10 hour shift on all 3. So, lifetime seems the same to me. They both suck batteries.
Shaggy
Well, After charging the battery yesterday afternoon, I used it heavily for about 9 hours. I used it way more than I would under normal circumstances. That was just after 1 cycle. It finally died about 10:00 and I left it off and charged it over night (about 7 hours). I will see if it lasts through one full day of normal use.
Im a little concerned about what Bill said. I certainly dont want to hurt the battery. This is the first I had even ever heard of this being potentially damaging.

i meant let the phone run dead, not the battery..
ninjaedit:
clarifying it further: use the phone until it shuts down, switch it on again, wait until it's off, switch it on, wait until it's off and then charge it using the wall charger.
What Bill said is true but conditioning the battery once a month or so is not as destructive as it sounds.
Just try not to do it all the time and it won't kill your battery.
All I know, is that it helped tremendously after just one time. it went from 6 hours in standby to 9 hours of heavy use
i took my ADP off the charger at 6am today...n nw its 1am...power manager show battery level at 29..n i used it to click a few pix today...listen to some music for about 2hours..so all in all i am pretty satisfied with what i have got..but some(some means like maybe once in a week or something) days the battery doesn't even last 4-5 hours..even when its on standby..i simply don't understand why this happens...!!!!

Battery life experiences

Just starting a thread for battery life experience as people use the phone. Mine is pretty freakin' great right now, but I'll post some initial results after I get home later tonight. I finished charging to 100% almost 2 hours ago, and with just a bit of usage (maybe 10 minutes total screen on time) I still am at 100%. Though, we know that it sometimes takes a long time to drop from 100% to 90%.
What are other people's experiences? Please post display on time in battery stats, as that gives a good feel for how much you're actually using the phone.
Unplugged it at 6:30am with a full charge.
Took it to work, I put it in airplane mode when I'm in the building because I don't get a signal and don't want the radio searching for a signal and wasting power. GPS/Bluetooth/Wifi are all turned off. I turn the radio back on when I'm out of the building, and I'd estimate it's been on 2 hours since it was charged.
Have watched the latest episode of Family Guy and started on the latest episode of Dexter using Rock Player.
I estimate the screen has been on for about 4 hours. I can only estimate because I had to plug the phone in to transfer a file a couple hours ago which reset the stats.
I've downloaded and installed about 20-30 apps today over 3G networks.
At the current time of 3:15pm (8 hours 45 minutes since full charge), I have 30% of the battery left.
I think you're supposed to do a full charge and full discharge so the phone can "calibrate" the battery meter, which I have not done yet, but so far I'm very pleased. Puts my 2 yr old G1's battery life to shame...
Yeah it sounds decent. A bit better than my Nexus One was.
I would say it is on par with the Nexus One. Should get you through the day but you will be plugging it in at night. It is comparable to most android phones.

Without explaining a bunch of boring details, it's definitely better than my N1 so far. Charged it up right after getting it from the UPS guy today for a couple of hours while I took a nap.
We'll just have to wait and see after a few days of use, charges and discharges. Looking great so far, though!
Played around with it at the store today, came in at 3 p.m after school. The demo unit was already at 45% when I got it, surfed the web for about half an hour, downloaded an app, watched YouTube for about 5 minutes and the phone died at about 4:30.
Not really impressed, but its an Android phone. Hopefully it can be better, the good thing is that the web browser is a lot faster than my iPhone 4. That's what keeping me on returning the iPhone, and it starts up a lot faster as well. Took about 20 seconds to boot up after the phone died on me, and the rep charged it.
Definitely will be needing to charge it every night.
3 hr bike ride with music playing used about %50 of the bat. So its way better then my G1 but not as good as my Iphone 2g.
I'm getting much better battery life then I was getting on the G1....love this phone

How about someone download Battery Left widget and tell us what it says.
Will vary by user but it will be more accurate with remaining battery life.
So far the battery life on mine is terrible compared to my nexus one, and that was terrible as well.
I woke up 10am, phone on the charger, took it off, around 2pm made two phone calls. Went to work at 5pm, phone's battery was at 23% around 7pm. My nexus one around that point would be at ~50%. So far I'm not impressed with this phone, more work could have went into it.
I loaded a few webpages... did a video chat with someone on Fring for about a minute (lol), downloaded a few apps, had a few phone calls... one lasting about 10 minutes... and after being off the charger for 5 and a half hours.. i'm at 44 percent power... this is my first android device so I'm not sure if that's good or bad
Have you all that are reporting poor battery life done the full-charge/full-discharge thing to "calibrate" the battery meter. I'm not sure that it really matters, but I'm assuming it does since battery info is one of the things you can wipe in the recovery roms.
I'm still extremely pleased with my battery life.
I got the phone yesterday and played with it right out of the box till it was at 5% battery... i plugged it in lastnight and let it fully charge and i unplugged it at 6:15am this mornining... i used the gps to get to work to see how it was... i have watched videos on youtube, gone on the internet, checked and sent emails and texts, downloaded some apps... and played around with it today... i had it plugged into the computer thru usb for approx 5 min tops to set up some media files... and as of now at 3:33pm my battery is at 50%
Opening mine at 930/10pm, heavily used it to burn it to 0% and did that by 12/1230am. Charged it to 100% by 330am. Played with it a bit then went to bed, left it unplugged. Woke up today and burned it to 0% by 330pm. It's charging right now and we'll see how it goes throughout tonight. It will get a bit of pocket time so I'll get a real feel for the battery life.
Took mine off the charger at 7am throught the day had 20 incoming/outgoing calls all lasted at least 2or 3 mins each, downloaded a couple of apps, checked facebook and twitter a few times. showed it off to some friends and now it is almost 5:00 and still have 60% battery, so I am impressed especially since I had a G1 before this

They aren't changing them long enough. Lithium ion batteries don't have to be trained like the older style ones. Other other culprit could be the batterystats.bin but you can't access or delete that without root. Jut discharge the battery till it powers off and charge for 4-6 hrs.
charged mine last night while tethered to my laptop browsing - took it off about midnight
this morning the alarm sound (pre-alarm 5 minutes, full alarm for 10 mins and never woke me btw), spent about 2 hours+ talking, browsed the web for maybe 15 minutes, downloaded a few apps from the market and ran a few quadrant benchmark test - it's now almost 6:00PM and it's at 40% -
i'm happy with that - and from experience with my MT3G and the vibrant, battery life should improve with some cycling or useage

leave it on the charger for 4-6 hours after its full or just to charge it from empty to full?
I'm very glad to hear about the excellent battery life. A friend of mine has even reported his phone being on for a full day and still having battery life left.
People make sure that you charge up your battery fully before turning the phone on. It's better to be safe than sorry. I know people say it does not matter but otherwise the battery won't be accurate if you just turn it on out of the box.
10 hours and some change later after normal phone usage and I had to charge it... I'm impressed to say the least

Battery Life and Quick Charge

im very annoyed with my phone after having it since day 1. here are the problems i see wrong with the phone.
1st. the battery life sucks i drain my battery faster then it takes to recharge.
2nd. when playing youtube videos all day connected to a charger the phone drains the battery faster then it can recharge it at. ex: i had my phone at about 50% was playing a youtube vids for hrs with the brightness turned up to the max all while connected to the charger i say for about 4 hrs guess where my battery was up to about 30% WTF???? this is while it was connected to the charger. *shakes head*
3rd. has any1 found a way to do a quick charge on the phone cause this is retarded on how long it takes to get fully charged.
4th. i feel the default web browser sucks up way to much power on the phone. i just watch the % dropped down way to fast.
not sure what to do i have juice defendor, setcpu, taskkiller, u name it i got it. i wouldnt mind the phone draining fast as long as i could charge it faster then at the rate its going right now.
You're plugged into the outlet or via USB into a computer? You're using the stock charger?
i have tested this on the wall charger, usb from the computer and the from a car charger all the same results. the recharge rate just sucks horrible for this phone. we need quick charge and we need it now.
I get about 50% charge per hour if the is not in use on a wall charger. Check your settings or maybe you have a bad battery.

You got a bad battery... you'll need a new one... are you rooted with recovery?

The battery will not charge if its not at a safe temperature to do so. If you are charging, which raises the temperature of the battery to begin with, and trying to play a youtube video over 3g or wifi, your phone is most likely overheating which is why the phone is not effectively charging. If you were to play a video that you have stored on the SD card while the phone charged, it would probably charge without a problem.
Just a guess.
It takes me about two and a half hours to fully charge the battery. I just went out and bought another battery with charger and swap them out as needed. It's not the cheapest solution but it works.

Sorry to say but if you use your phone pretty heavily, it probably won't last as long as you would like. If you are streaming youtube videos all day, how long do you expect the battery to last?
As muyoso stated, the battery won't charge if your phone is not at a safe temp. Wouldn't want your battery to explode. Pretty sure that won't help you much. I stream live radio on my phone for 4 hours in the morning. If I'm not at 100% when I plug my phone up to my PC, it'll hover around the same or won't charge so my suggestion is to make sure you are at 100% and keep it plugged in while you view videos.
Is your brightness all the way up? That would cause the battery to drain a little faster than normal if you are browsing. If you think it's the stock browser, try installing a 3rd party one, Dolphin, Opera, etc...
Yep, that's my one major dislike of this phone. Samsung needs to talk to HTC about developing a better charging circuit. I miss that with my TP2, it would charge very quickly. Takes forever to charge this thing. Maybe they want to sell spare batteries instead??

Not sure about him but I'm running Epic Experience with Mixups latest.
Right now my battery is at 13H 54M 10S since unplugged, 66% battery life left.
Now this is with light use none-the-less. So its really not that impressive at all. But its not the worst either.
The usage readout goes as follows:
Display: 48%, on for 1h 48m 19s
Cell Standby: 32%, on for 14h 6m 53s (Don't understand how this is showing on for longer than the phones been unplugged. Unless this doesnt reset when the phone gets unplugged)
Phone Idle: 12%, On for 12h 6m 8s
Android System: 3%.
So like I said, light usage.

Yeah, I'm calibrating mine right now too. Dang thing wont die. This use is normal use for me so far though, because 9 hours of that time was me sleeping, I just left it unplugged. The 1 and a half hours display time or whatever it said when I posted is just from XDA app, texting and some angry birds. So its my normal use plus 9 hours of sleeping. Some people say to just run a bunch of crap and let it die in 4 hours while calibrating, but I like calibrating mine with normal use instead.
They do sell spare batteries... at your local sprint store, its a kit that includes a spare battery, a charging dock (holds the spare to charge without being in the phone) a USB cable and a wall outlet that supports the USB cable. Its about 50 dollars but well worth it... but as for this issue, I get about 24 hours with moderate use (just texting, and web use) and about 36 without much use... running apophis 2.1 beta with mixup kernal

Battery suddenly drained completely

Before I left the house to go to work, my 10.1 Tab (Google I/O Limited Edition, rooted with 3.1) was at around 80%. I get home 9 hours later and the battery is completely drained. I plugged it in to the charger and turned it back on to see the battery at 1%. That just doesn't seem right to me. I can usually go about 2 days without putting it on the charger.
I've attached an image of the Battery Use graph, you can see it just drops like a cliff for no apparent reason. Has this happened to anybody else? Also, I just noticed that the time it was off (approximately 9 hours) is missing from the graph, so it only shows just under 5 hours.
I had the same issue last night. It had ~40% battery left when I went to sleep last night and this morning it wouldn't turn on, so I plugged in the charger and found the battery drained completely.
Interesting that it happened for you the same night. For me, it seemed to have happened around 5-6pm Pacific time on June 23. I don't know the exact time because I didn't have it with me at the time.
Happened the same to me a couple of weeks ago.
Battery was at 40% and overnight went to 0% and the tablet turned off.
Very weird
Came home to find mine with the screen on but completely black so you could BARELY tell it was on. Had to reboot as it wouldn't respond. When it did I only had 20% charge. I had unplugged it about 5 hrs earlier and left it with about 95% charge. Only happened once though so I haven't worried too much, maybe a similar issue though

If I had to hazard a guess.. it would probably have been a runaway process in the background somewhere that totally drained the battery. If it was the battery itself losing a charge like that, I would be worried.... When batteries discharge like that for no reason, they can actually explode... (it is rare, but possible..not trying to cause a panic).

Wouldn't a runaway process drain the battery slowly over time? This seems to have happened instantly.
I really hope i dont find mine doing this... If I watched a laptop do it I would say the battery was shot. Now that its been charged does it hold a charge just as good as it was prior?
Im jealous you got the google I/O tab, was trying to get one on ebay but to hell with spending all that money for an army of androids you wil never see in a case. I heard they were giving them away for free @ the conference...

Yep just happened to me Also. This is a real problem.
first to make sure these power saving settigs are alright ,especially gps which will be turned on by so many location iasking apps.
i originally thought it happened twice on me . now i got to. say the first time my gps is on ,second time , the 10.1 looks no response /dead , but press power burton longer, it will be back in desktop without boot, kind of like hibernation on pc ......maybe after a quite long time no activity, 10.1 manage to hibernate itself .....just guessing

Also, CNN and USA Today apps seem to consistently get active on 1-5 hour intervals even though I disabled Notifications, etc. Anyone knows the reasoning?!
Last night I was browsing the web at about 30% battery, when my tab just clicked off out of nowhere. I wasn't able to turn it back on until I'd plugged it in. Once I got it back on it showed 1% battery.

I don't think that I've let mine go below 40%
Completely dead, never. but I have gotten it down under 14%. At that point, I just plugged it in until it was back to 100%.
I have drained it completely maybe 3 times. Once playing dead trigger. I had the N7 plugged into my laptop but it was draining faster than the laptop was charging. Drained it a second time watching movies on a trip. I have drained it completely one or two other times but those are the 2 that come to mind.
drained it the first day and charging when it's around 10% now. nice battery life.
Lowest for me has been around 5%, although I will be going on a trip soon - I hope the powerbrick I have will help it survive!
Nope. Had it down to about 30% after 3 days of use. Was about to complain about battery life, then remembered that it had already had 3 days of use
I don't think mines been lower than 15%, I usually charge it every evening so most of the time it's around 40%-50% left.
I have let it shut down with low battery about a dozen times already
What are your opinions on this? Is doing it bad or good for the battery??
Thanks
I don't let it get that low, and with these batteries, there is no "memory" to worry about when charging... that has not been an issue since Ni-Cad batteries, which have never been used in tablets, and have not been used in phones for like 15 years...
