I've looked up this question and couldn't find any post on it, which makes me think I'm doing something wrong. I've been putting roms on my mt3g for a while now, and have noticed a lot of times I'm in an app and when I hit the home button it shows me the HTC logo screen (like its resetting) and then it takes a bit to load my home screen. Is this normal for these roms? or am I doing something wrong? I'm running evil hero 2.xx, one click root,
Thanks in advance..

I have a branded HTC one and when is loading the Sense UI is after I close on the manager, it does the same when loading!
I experienced the same with the evil 2xx ROM. Except for some other lag issues, it was a damn near perfect ROM (at least for my needs). That "loading" screen would sit there for at least a minute despite my killing all tasks and using the swapper. It got annoying after a few hours so now I'm yet again exploring other HERO ROMs that can work without the blurry screen and not give me that long HTC loading screen.
MOD EDIT
Thread moved to general discussion as not related to rom development
I'm running evil hero 2.xx on my MT3G with no problems. It uses a 96MB swap partition with 40 swappiness.
so i guess i must be doing something wrong then... thanks for you replies it let me know this isn't right, i'll try to mess with the swap, thanks again
just an update....got rid of the twitter widget, and Redid the the swap, and it runs a lot better, haven't had the problem since, not sure which thing did the trick,
Hey guys, just a quick question to see if anyone else is experience the home screen reload that is infamous with Sense on older phones like G1/Magic etc.
I've had the magic since it came out and upgraded to DHD, but have recently been having the same issues, where the home screen reloads, get the big HTC white with green.
Any certain apps to help with this? or perhaps that are causing this?
Appreciate your response
Hmm yes I get this too sometimes. But it only ever happens when I'm either listening to music for hours or have changed some setting in the phone, I don't think there is a fix to be honest but I could be wrong. Maybe gingerbread will fix this ?

This happens to me too, but it only happens when i 'mistreat' my phone. i.e. when i open an app,and be4 its finished opening i press the home button ... or something like that
i think this htc screen comes because maybe an error occurred with the sense UI or something and thats their way of handling the error.
i personally dont think its a problem, rather a solution to a problem, so dont be scared.
fyi: no one told me this, it just makes sense to me, since it only happens when i mistreat my phone....maybe they made a different way to handle this with their new Sense UI: 3.0.
im so hyper about it!!, and im hoping that it'll come with the new update!!!!
It happens to me as well but my home screen reloads when I kills some apps

Quick question, do you all have "Spare Parts" installed?
spare parts?
Yes, spare parts. If Activity/Process Management is set to aggresive it will produce the same issue your post is describing.
I remembered a similar issue a while ago, read through THIS thread (11 posts) and let me know if the screenshot looks similar.
Those with this problem, try uninstall the Flash 10.2 update, reboot your phone and see if its solved.
Not enough RAM can lead to reboot of sense UI?

No, the DHD has plenty of RAM. Its a badly configured task killer.
it happens to me sometimes though I haven't chose anything in spare parts (it shows empty normal and aggressive check box) and I don't have any task killer (well I have a program called ZDbox which has the ability to kill apps you select) and when it happens it doesn't stop unless you restart your phone.I think a certain app is causing this but I don't know which

A few weeks ago i had this problem with Flash 10.2. There was a memory leak and as a result android was killing all apps and even killed Sense as a result of Flash taking up more and more ram. So Flash 10.2 might be the culprit here. Check to see which version you have and uninstall the update.
so when you went back to 10.1,the issue was gone?

You would be correct sir/mam.
Posting on behalf of my coworker, who has the EVO 4G. Ever since his Gingerbread update came out, his phone frequently flashes the "HTC" green icon on a white background, and then all his widgets need to reload their content.
To me it seems SenseUI is crashing, so I said I'd do a little research. The Search button isn't working for me though, so I hope someone can help!
(Oh, and if this is just "the way it is" is there a way for him to go back to stock Froyo without rooting?)
If you get the stock Rom img you put it on the root of the SD card then go into bootloader then wait for it to ask you if you want to update then push volume up for yes and van ha

Yea, I have to admit, that is annoying. Mine only does it when exiting some apps and seems to be very random. Sense doesn't actually crash, it just seems to have to reload, like it was stopped, or closed.
If he is not rooted, their is no way to go back to 2.2 though.

Thanks for the "bad news". Pulling the battery last night helped, he hasn't had any issues yet today. I'm wondering if Sense has a memory leak or if GB is unloading too much of its memory.
I was having the same problem since the OTA, (non-rooted, stock btw) constant Sense restarting when exiting apps or going to the home screen. On another forum thread's suggestion, I removed all task killer apps. In my case these were Android Assistant and Advanced Task Killer. Since removing those apps and rebooting earlier today, I have not seen Sense restart once. Give this a try if applicable and see if it helps.
Edit: As luck would have it, as soon as I posted it happened again after exiting the Amazon App Store.......back to the drawing board.
In my case it is definitely not a task killer, as I am not running any task killers. But it does act like it is shutting down like a task killer would do it. I even tried freeing up memory by uninstalling all system apps that I don't need. I now have more memory available than I ever have, yet it still keeps happening. I have a feeling that it is going to take another update from HTC to fix it.
I'm having the same issue.

If you want to believe the techs on Sprint EVO forum, they say that virus programs such as Lookout are at the root of some of these problems, the phone needs to be reset, and HTC sense requires the data to be erased through the application screen. I have doe the reset, and erase Sense data and still occasionally had the problem. I have now uninstalled Lookout to see if that eliminates the problem
I'm now on my second evo ad the update broke the first one...with the sense constantly crashing and random apps force closing I took it back to the store and demanded a new one...I'll not make the mistake of accepting anymore ota "updates"...

Update, I ran across a post on the Sprint forums in which someone said that HTC claimed that Sense being booted from memory and reloading when you exit some apps was caused by some virus programs. So I shut off Lookout security, and I haven't had the Sense reload problem since, been over a day now.
i dont use lookout and have the same problem. if i run any heavy apps, such as web browsing with many windows or streaming video via the browser, when i go to "home" sense has to restart. it could be just gingerbread shutting sense down to free up resources for heavy apps.
and yes, its bloody annoying.
After playing with it for three days now, I have determined to my own satisfaction that it is indeed an HTC Sense GB problem.
If I turn off all apps that actually do work when running in the background, like Lookout and SystemPanel, I do not get the Sense reload problem. Unfortunately, If I have any program running that is doing things when in the background, Sense gets booted from memory and has to reload. For example, I start a market download, and while waiting for it, I play a game of solitaire. When I exit out of the game, Sense has to reload, and more than likely the app download has to start over.
It appears to me that GB's memory management is just not working as good as it did in Froyo.

I continue to have the problem also. I do not have a virus program as I did I did not install one after my reset to factory. Where do we complain, on the Sprint forum.
This is the post and link to the thread I started on the Sprint forum:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/70794
HTC Sense restarting randomly and changing the wallpaper to one that I never used on my phone, began after the first GB update. It has gotten worse after the recent update. HTC Sense restarts when leaving the market and other apps Dolphin HD Browser and others, but not in every instance.
When the phone is booting up, just before showing the lockscreenit it will show the wallpaper that is the first one in the wallpaper section the colorful one with bubbles. I have never used any of the wallpapers because I have always used the originale scene installed on the phone. Now on several occasions when the phone started it put the Wallpaper on my home screens, but did not change the apps and widgets I had on the Home Pages. Luckily I had saved my scene and was able to get it back.
My phone has been reset to factory twice, initially be me and two days ago by a Sprint tech and a sercive center.
Sprint something continues to be wrong with these updates that is affecting HTC Sense, it is broke. Please, everyone else sith HTC Sense restarting randomly or changing you wallpaper, post and describe your exact problem. Possibly we will get Sprints attention.
I took my phone to Sprint to have the cracked camera lens replaced. Instead of doing just that an idiot savant installed this gingerbread update. Not only did the update delete dozens of programs but it also caused me to have the htc logo splash page appear several times a day. I was not happy when I found out Sprint applied the update & I'm even more displeased now.
It occurs when exiting programs & entering others. However I have not been able to discern a pattern. I do have lookout installed but I do not have any task kllers installed.

seems to be a little better now not sure what was wrong, but I couldn't get above 100mb of avail memory now I'm around 190 after a reboot. I just never got that low with the leaked version. hummmm
I have memory problems since I updated to 2.3
I have a German Vodafone branded DZ
80% of the times I switch from an app to home screen, my DZ displays white background with green HTC written on it and loads my homescreen and widgets.
This is very anoying. I dont know if rooting will help. The memory stays small as it is. And I dont know which rom has the best ram managing.

Same for the UK Vodafone 2.3.3 release from last week. I'm probably going to place fault calls with HTC and Voda to see if the upgrade can be backed out with out a rebuild as my phone now performs like a dog with exactly the same problems as you. No memory, come out of apps to get a white HTC screen, widgets slow to load after coming out of apps ....

It means that Sense UI is reloading... not good! Have you tried to remove some widgets? May be something that causes Sense crash...
Hey guys, so I'm wondering if there is some sort of fix or mod I can do to make my home screen not reload all the time. It's frustrating going into an app for a second and going back to home and having it load which usually takes the majority of the time I have the phone on. Doesn't really matter what app I open, it will even do it coming from settings.
Now I did research this a bit and I don't have any task killers or many widgets on the home screen, to be honest, the stock oem home screen setup has more widgets and whatnot than I do. Can't I increase the cache size or something? Memory space has never been a problem with this phone, in fact I hardly even get over 100mb of used RAM. BTW, every ROM I've flashed has been like this, I'm hoping the stock ROM isn't like this too, its just plain annoying.
Thanks

Which rom do you want to use? You can possibly fix it with certain setting depending on which rom. Also are you just using the stock laucher that comes with each rom? Or do u install a preferred one?

He's talking like he's using Sense. To be clear, are you talking about widgets refreshing like with contacts, bookmarks, locations, weather, and the like? The best way to avoid information and widgets being refreshed all the time is to use as much memory as possible all of the time. What's you're looking at is the result of garbage collection... The kernel is tossing out items from memory that haven't been used in a certain amount of time or are assumed to be "stale" information. That kind of garbage collection is set to expire fairy quickly because the first time your calendar widget waits 2 or 3 hours to update and you missed your appointment or date, you'd really wish it didn't wait so long to refresh that data. I'm not sure what can be done to avoid that being the case, but I know it's been a minor irritation to some for a long time. I'm sure if there was an easy fix we'd have seen it by now from HTC themselves. It's commonly sited in reviews as a weakness of the UI compared to iFone.
Hey there,
Was wondering if anyone has found a fix for this yet.
I am having the same problem. If I enter any app and then go back to the home screen, I get the white screen with the green "HTC" logo, then the background appears and reloads everything. It has gotten to the point that every time I open an app it needs to reload. I recently factory reset and changed the SD card to try and fix it, but no luck.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, hope there is a fix.

I have stock sense and it happens to me every so often too. Maybe once a day so its barely noticable but I always wonder why it does it. Seems to be random and like other poster says I'm either backing out of settings or an app then the htc screen appears and the home page resets all the app icons. Only started doing this after the OTA so maybe something to do with memory management as previously stated in another post.

It hasn't done it in a very long time now. At least a week so not sure what was causing it. I did delete some apps, Netflix being one of them, that I no longer used but I never had Netflix running when it did it.
Problem was a task manager/quick launch app that turned my home button into more like an Alt-Tab. I have since reflashed a new Rom and haven't installed a task manager, and no problems at all. Must have been closing launcher causing it to reboot.
