Hi Hugo, the RRP for Eee Pad Transformer is from AU$599.

Not confirmed yet if that price is with or without the keyboard dock.
What?
Asus Australia Hi Hugo, the RRP of AU$599 is for the pad only, and does not include the keyboard docking station. RRP for the docking station is still to be confirmed.

Asus Australia Hi Hugo, please kindly noted that the ones selling in USA are slightly different from what we are going to sell here. The ones in USA haven't got back camera and GPS, hence the price gap.

I have never seen a reference that the devices in the US are different to the anywhere else. Looks like we have to look very closely what we buy.
EDIT:
Not according to the US press release - the Transformer in that press release does have a back camera and a GPS:
http://usa.asus.com/news.aspx?N_ID=NrkcfmDMc162TlqA
Hugo: Can you please ask Asus Australia where they get that information from??
Yes, we should rip them a new one for this as I am sure that our friends from the US are not aware of this.
I have never seen any reference about hardware differences for different regions...

International warranty FTW!
The biggest problem is that no one seems to have any stock...
It was supposed to have launched today in AU...
ASUS Australia is a FAIL!!!
No store has stock, and most of them don't even have it listed on their system.
What I think it's even worse is that salespersons from big retailers like Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi never even heard of it before.
Everybody knows I hate Apple with a passion, but at least they know how to launch a product.
ASUS FAIL!!!
Weren't you going to get yours overseas?

Yes, I am waiting for it.
But I would have liked to see one in person, maybe even be able to play with one for a minute.
I'll probably have mine before any retailer has it in stock in AU...
And I don't like liars, that's why me and others are "spamming" ASUS AU Facebook page, not just for the outrageous price difference, but for this fake launch.
Lol. I don't know if they were lying per se. I'd attribute it to misinformation and a poorly managed division.

This might be a weird question to you, but do you have both qwerty and azerty keyboards in Canada ?
If only qwerty, how do you make accents and special french caracters like ùàçèé ?
All these questions because i would be interested in buying one from the US, but I wouldn't a qwerty keyboard.
At first I had planned on getting the slate only in the US and the dock back in France, but it sounds like the dock is going to cost 150€ if we do not take the bundle ...
ive bought a lot of stuff from pccyber, they are a local here in ottawa with 4 stores and 2 in montreal. i've never order anything from their website though. i wouldnt put too much on their release date on their website, i've bought my last two asus eee pc from them and they are horrible for stock and never know when they are suppost to get new shipments of stock. i had to check all 4 locations to find the one i wanted even though their website said it was suppost to be in stock so i don;t have much confidence in their site. i only bought the eee pc from them because they are the only local store that carried them and had a decent price. Also seems fishy that they are the only retailer in canada taking preorders...
anyone know if futureshop will be carrying this? i assume so since best buy is suppost to be carrying it and they own futureshop.
edit: i just noticed they changed the release date again to april 25, thats 3 times now.

French Canadians (i'm one of them) uses Qwerty keyboards. The same layout, with minor differences. And you can often buy "bilingual" keyboards: french and English characters are printed on the keys.
Hope this helps!
Actually, i haven't checked if the transformer keyboard can be ordered in Canadian Bilingual (refered as fr_ca)
I called both the local PCCyber stores here in Montreal. One guy had no idea when is this coming ("It might come tomorrow and I would not know today") and the other one said it'll come end of next month! When I said but your website says coming April 25, he boldly said "it's wrong".
*Sigh*
I'm travelling internationally on the 29th and this would have been the perfect travel companion but I have little to no hope of getting my hands on Asus Transformer
Edit: Although I should mention, 2-3 days ago when I talked one of the Ottawa store reps, he was confident he'll get it on 18th. He even said he knows I'm in Montreal but instead of reserving one for shipping online, if I can come to Ottawa and put my money down, he can give me one on the 18th in store. Good luck fellow Ottawa residents!
Amazon.ca orders are suppose to ship 5/9.
Amazon.ca is not listing the EEE Pad Transformer at the moment, though I understand it did at one point (and was quickly taken down). So I doubt any release date from their page is reliable.
I'm holding on for the Asus, as the Xoom is (now) overpriced and I don't want to wait anxiously for a software update to unlock the SD Card slot. And I love the keyboard dock too, hopefully it will come out soon after (it's a big part of their marketing after all).
LOL,

While I would love for this to be true, I wouldn't place to much hope on PcCybers preorder page and wait for official news from Asus. It seems to me like they are just fishing for early preorders even though they have no idea when its coming out.
It certainly does seem like even Asus is not sure of when they can launch. It's getting frustrating..

If you're in the UK and bought a keyboardless transformer before April 22, you're eligible to buy a keyboard dock from Asus for 55GBP (~91USD)
Any chance of Asus doing that here in the States?
You cannot be moaning about the price of the dock compared to the UK 'early adopters' deal surely? ...Considering you got the tablet itself for $399.. we had to pay closer to $600 (those of us lucky enough to get some money off deals ordering via Comet that is) with the current exchange rate.. Lets stop this craziness now..
Seriously though.. i guess Asus is going for a slightly different strategy in the US.
Get the tablet out there with a great headline price, then mop up with the accessory at some later date..

A lot of that markup in the UK is for all that VAT/tax that is added in.
20% tax but its still overpriced by probably 100usd

They cannot be found here in the UK either. This has been pointed out quite a few times but seems to be falling on deaf ears. No one - except some reviewers and bloggers - has got a keyboard dock yet, even though who got in on this 'special deal' '. I read somewhere that those particular ones might be arriving next week, but I can't be sure about that.

You can attribute the rest to just merchandise costing more in general over there. It's not just this product. I.E. UK price relative to the xoom still makes it a deal.

It's definitely a good deal compared to the local competition. Even when you take the VAT out of the equation, we are being hosed on the tablet only price when compared to the US.
However, when you look at the bundle (which it seems won't be available in the US) or the "ilovekeyboards" offer, the price differential drops dramatically when compared to a US Transformer and separate keyboard (assuming the $150 price is accurate!) - A £429 tablet + keyboard bundle equates to around $555 when you exclude the VAT.
To be honest, I don't really understand Asus's strategy here as the iPad pricing is pretty similar between the US and UK (excluding VAT of course!), but since I'm getting a keyboard via "ilovekeyboards" the point is rather moot for me!

Dave

What I was trying to day was that the price of the iPad2 in the US and UK is broadly similar when you remove that VAT from the UK price. This is not true of the Transformer, but is mitigated somewhat by the lower cost of the dock.

What's the 'normal' price that they think they're gong to charge for it?
If they think owners are going to pay £100 or even £150 surely they're on crack
Any owner would save themselves some money by selling their secondhand unit and buying another new slate and keyboard combo.
i have emailed them twice now and still had no reply about the keyboard :/
I'm a Brit currently working in the US (Colorado) and am also caught up in the pre-order/stores out of stock mess, but can anyone from the US or UK answer the following question..........
Does the dock/keyboard have different layouts depending on where you buy it? For example on a yank keyboard the @ symbol is above the number 2, but on a brit keyboard by default it's above the ' symbol which would be pressed by your right hand little finger (by girls, secretaries and touch typists )?
I'm in Colorado for another 5 weeks and am wondering whether to chase the dock/keyboard over here and get it cheap or go back to the UK, get raped for my £££'s but get a 'proper' layout
There seems to be a lot of difference in the release dates in various countries. Has anyone actually started shipping them yet? If not, what's the ETA for your country?

From Engadget:
Yes, this is Samsung's latest 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab alright, not to be mistaken with its thicker 10.1v sibling that's gradually rolling out across Europe and Australia. How can you tell? Well, the older Honeycomb tablet bears the GT-P7100 codename, whereas this FCC filing and a Wi-Fi Alliance certificate show off the GT-P7510 moniker for this WiFi-only 10.1. Oh, and the drawing of the backside -- pictured after the break -- is a dead giveaway, of course. What remains unknown is the mysterious 1GHz dual-core CPU inside this razor-thin slate, but given the release of this FCC application, it probably won't be long before all is revealed.
Looks like it's coming to the USA very soon... =)

My exact problem. Asus will supposedly have transformer with scandi keyboard in stock in 3 weeks and the price for tablet+keyboard/dock is 599e. That's a steal when something like Xoom 32GB wifi that got crappier screen costs 699 over here.
But still the 10.1 just got something about it. In the end it probably just goes to what tablet is out first here.

If you've been following recent Motorola Xoom developments, you'll know that the first "Google Experience" tablet has just been updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Alongside the update, Carphone Warehouse, one of the main sellers of Xooms in the UK, has cut the price of the Wifi-only model to £249.99. This is a £50 drop from the earlier RRP of £299.99, and the latest in a long line of Xoom price drops which has seen the tablet gradually fall from the July price of £399.
It might not be as sleek as the Galaxy Tab 10.1, or as fast as the ASUS Transformer Prime, but £250 for a 10-inch, dual-core ICS tablet isn't a bad deal at all if you ask us. UK readers, would you be tempted to drop £250 on a Xoom at this point? Be sure to let us know in the comments.

So from a perspective buyer to those who own the Xoom, is it still a worthy purchase compared to newer tablets? I've been wanting to get a 10" tablet but they either lack the dev scene or hit the wallet pretty hard but the Xoom is well supported and at this price seems to be a steal. I did hear about lag/performance issues early on but has this been ironed out? Thanks

ICS for me has fixed all the niggles of honeycomb, its still not perfect but the DEV scene has now gone massive with ICS builds so it wont be long.
Personally I still feel the XOOM is the best made of the tablets, I love the fact that out of all the tablets you can now buy, it still has the smallest bezel which for me is a winner.
Great price for a good tab but the question is when will the uk get the ics update..
Hi, I picked my Xoom up from Argos for £220 and that was before Christmas.
Also had a nice case from Amazon for £10, fits a treat and tablet performs great. J ust waiting now for OTA update to ICS and job done.
Bargain for sure
This is a bargain, ICS is great, no need to wait for the OTA, goto the US version of 3.2.1 and await the push

Ordered mine last week, should be with me tomorrow hopefully. While there may be newer tablets on the market at the moment, the price of the xoom and the incredible support being offered on this forum make the xoom the clear choice.
My sister just got one from carphone warehouse, she had been looking at one for a while, she just wants it for reading stuff online, so tegra 2 more than powerful enough for her. At £250 with ICS on its way it's too good to leave. If I didn't have the eee pad transformer and hp touchpad I would have considered getting one to play with

I bought mine yesterday from cpw for 249, flashed it to US version and am rocking ICS as we speak.
A bargain in my eyes
Got the 32GB + 3G version for the equivalent of 210gbp here in sweden today
It will arrive on Tuesday, can't wait!
They got an offer where I live, Motorola xoom 32gb 3g with dock and folder case for 220€ is it worth buying the xoom? For studies how good is it?

Yup, defo worth it. If you're looking for a tablet experience, the XOOM is in my opinion one of the best options, especially as it has that very handy SD card option!
And for 220€ that's an absolute steal!
