similar things have happened to me but all I did was either pull the battery or reinstall Rom manager.
Any other suggestions if I've tried both

Just boot into recovery using hboot and flash there, same with making backups. That's the easiest and most secure means at this time.

Can you boot into the Rom and try to flash the recovery? Or try uninstalling Rom manager, reinstalling it, then re flashing recovery?

I want to flash the miui rom but I'm currently on gingerbread, rooted, stock. I have a Nandroid backup from when i was on froyo with liberty. Can i revert back to that and then be safe flashing the miui rom or is the only way to sbf then reroot? I'm looking for an alternative to sbf.

Huh? Is that a ROM or are you reffering to the wiping method?
Powered by a G2x
super wipe only works on TDJ's DARKSIDE Sense rom (not sure about MIUI), by adding the -wipe flag after the file...
not sure if that's what you're asking?

There you go. FYI, it makes your filesystem Ext3.

Not term savvy. Should I be worried about Ext3?

Back when I used my Cliq I used a super wipe file that I would flash before flashing a new ROM to ensure I did a complete wipe. That's what I'm trying to find.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Many ROMs use an Ext4 filesystem. This superwipe zip will check a file on your sd card and wipe whatever you have marked as "true" and format your filesystem to Ext3. Not a big deal. It can be easily converted. Many Ext4 ROMs do this upon flashing.
This is what you are looking for. Follow the directions in that thread.

Just like Saranhai said and Super wipe also works with TDJ Miui rom.. add -wipe to the end of the file but before .zip at the end

I searched in the "bible" for some kernels and they all seem incompatible to the Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 release. Anyone know of a kernel that will work with this release... First time Mytouch4g user. I came from the Vibrant world. This phone seems a little more dead than over there.

Its for all GB AOSP ROMS as far as I know. That includes CM7 and Variants as well as MIUI.
Sent from my HTC Mytouch 4G using XDA App
Sounds good! Would you say this is better over the kernel that comes with cm7.1.0?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Yes. Its an improved version with a wider range of frequencies and more governors.

Tdj kernels can't be beat. I hope he devs some more in the future for us.

What is the proper way to flash a kernel? Boot into recovery, wipe dalvik, then flash?

Boot into recovery, wipe Cache, flash kernel.

Does it hurt to wipe dalvik and cache for kernel flashing?
