You might get more help if you rename your topic title to something more descriptive.
Second, try searching the forum; this has been discussed in numerous threads on both this forum and the developer's section, along with how to fix it.
Try the threads about the update, or dialing a certain code to force it manually (that's where I learned the timing trick to get into stock recovery on the NS). On the screen you're at, try pressing and holding power, then pressing/holding volume up, that should get you into stock recovery.
Also, if you can get into fastboot, you can fastboot flash the CWM recovery back to the device. If you made an nandroid before doing anything, you can at least go back to the device's state before you tried the update.
i could not find anything on this issue on google or here
i tried doing vol up and power, but its still at the screen, and my computer doesnt recognize my phone
use the instruction on the topic to ROOT the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875875
and in one of the steps you can use the ADB to push a good ROM back into the phone to be re-flashed
Try just pulling the battery.
If not, you'll have to use fast boot from the SDK. Just follow the howto at the top of this forum to flash original images.
thank you so much!
i locked my bootloader again, and i've been trying to get the 2.3.1 update, but everytime i do try, it freezes at the android warning sign. i also tried installing it via rommanager when i was rooted...whats going on?
any ideas what could be wrong?

Are you able to get into Fastboot?
I wonder if part of your problem is that you relocked the bootloader. (Why'd you do that anyways? No advantage, imo.)
Fastboot oem unlock will completely wipe your phone, I mean WIPE EVERYTHING, including the sdcard (photos, music, some apps' data, etc), but such a wipe might get you back to stock firmware and stock recovery, then at least you could boot up. You could also then reflash CWM.
Before doing that, let's try this if you haven't:
Turn off phone.
Hold vol-up, then press/hold power.
You should then be in fastboot mode.
The timing's critical (on my phone anyways) for this step: Select recovery, and have your hands on the power button and volume button ready to push.
Watch the screen very closely, for a bout a half second or so, the screen will flash a box with an arrow dumping out onto the android dude. While that screen is showing, press/hold the power button, then press/hold the vol up button. Important to do the power button FIRST this time (at least it is on my phone).
You should then be able to get into the stock recovery.
Once there, maybe we can figure out where to go, but we need to know how messed up your phone is at this point.
Once in Recovery, you could try wiping cache if it's an option, then trying to reboot. Worth a shot, but not likely to work.
You could also do the factory reset wipe in there, this one shouldn't wipe your sdcard if there's anything critical/valuable on it. It will reset all your settings and logins and wipe the apps you've installed, though. Again, might let you boot up normally.
would anyone be willing to write a guide detailing with steps how to go about flashing CM7 to your droid2?
I have the latest GB update running and rooted on my droid2 so that shouldnt be an issue.
This can be a lengthy (and easy to screw up) process the first time, so I don't recommend doing it on your lunch break, before you have to go to work, while driving, anytime you may need your phone for calls or whatever. So basically when you have an hour free and don't need your phone.
If you want to try to save all your apps and app data, I suggest getting Titanium Backup Pro, so you can restore your stuff after you flash, but it's optional.
Get this:
Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap
Yes, it costs money, yes it's required.
And this:
ROM Manager
Install and open up ROM Manager, select Download Rom, Select Google Apps, choose one (I just picked the most current one), hit Download, you can select GTalk if it pops up (I did but you can skip it), once finished DLing, exit the app.
Go here and get the latest build (2011-09-08 at the time of this post, might be a newer one):
Droid 2 CM7 with Gingerbread Leak Kernel
DL the .zip, connect D2 to computer via USB, select mass storage from USB options, move the DL'd .zip to your sdcard. While not necessary, it's more convenient to place this .zip on the root of your sdcard (meaning not in a file folder, just drag and drop it on /sdcard/)
Unhook phone from USB, open Droid 2 Bootstrapper App, touch Bootsrap Recovery, grant Superuser permissions, touch ok when it says success, touch Reboot Recovery.
When phone is rebooted you will be at the Clockwork Recovery Screen.
**Optional, but highly recommended** Use volume down button to select Backup and Restore (also called Nandroid on some versions), hit the camera button to choose, then hit the camera button to choose Backup, then wait for it to do it's backup. Should you screw something up or decide not to want to keep CM7, you can wipe data and cache and then restore this backup and everything should be as it was now, before you flashed CM7. Once it's done backing up, go back to the main clockwork recovery screen by hitting the power button until it's back.
Volume button down to Wipe data/factory reset, camera button to select, volume button down to yes, camera button to select. Wait for it to finish, go back to main clockwork recovery screen. I always select wipe cache partition too and do that, but someone will probably tell you that's unnecessary.
From the main clockwork recovery screen (which you can get back to at anytime if you're in the wrong menu by pressing the power button) go to install .zip from sdcard (not apply sdcard update.zip), then volume arrow down until you find CM4D2-GB-20110908.zip (or whatever the name of the build you DL'd), hit the camera button to select, volume button down to yes, then camera button again. Wait for it to flash.
Now you need to flash the Google Apps you DL'd from the ROM Manager. Go back to the main clockwork recovery screen, select install .zip from sdcard, go into clockworkmod/ (it may be hard to see, my file list isn't alphabetized, yours might not be either), then download/, then goo-inside.me/, then gapps/, then whatever version of Google Apps you DL'd should be there. Hit yes to flash, wait for it to finish.
Power button back to the main clockwork recovery screen, then select Reboot Now. Wait for your phone to reboot. It may appear to bootloop (get stuck on the Cyanogen 7 skate boarding android graphic), but let it go. Mine took upwards of 5 to 10 minutes on that screen before it finally got into the android setup, so hastily pulling the battery because you're tired of waiting may cause problems.
Optionally you can flash JakebitesMods[Mods] if you want, I did. He's got some settings that make CM7 run better in there. Flash them the same way you did CM7 or Google Apps. DL the .zip, put on sdcard, boot into recovery, install .zip from sdcard, so on. Same process, just use this DL instead of CM7.
This should get you going, about as detailed as anyone is going to throw out there. If you have problems, post here.
I'm not the dev, don't take any credit for any of the projects listed above, am extremely not responsible for anything you might screw up, and just I'm just trying to help.
Good luck!
Awesome
thankyou for the write up, least now i can try this and see how it works
after trying multiple times, mine always gets stuck in the bootloop after the flash no matter what i try, so if anyone can get this to work let me know
How long do you let it sit before giving up?
Did you wipe data and cache as stated above? Not doing so will result in a bootloop because it can't make the data previously on there work with the data you're putting on there.
If you still can't get it to work after rewiping the data and cache, try accessing the stock (different than clockwork) recovery and wiping the data from there. With the phone off, hold the X button on the physical keyboard and turn the phone on. Once it gets to the screen with the ! mark, hit the magnifying glass on the keyboard, then volume down and wipe cache and data, both of the options. This might take a little bit. Reboot phone and wait.
If that still doesn't work, you may have a corrupted DL of the rom, the gapps, or the JakeMods if you got them. Try reDLing those files and try the steps listed above.
I am able to get into clockwork recovery if I have the phone plugged into an ac outlet when booting up, I don't know if you're able to, but you can try it if you can't get into the clockwork recovery.
I finally got it to work, i just cleared data/cache every single time i installed something and it finally worked
I downloaded the CVM 5.0.4 and now every time I do this on repeat REBOOT I G. Rickover =
What do \?
I want to go first?
This started since last weeks for a lot of peoples using the new "Official" CWM recovery image.

Other people are having issues with 5.5.0.4 as well. You should read through the 5.5.0.4 thread to see what others are doing.
If your tf is only booting into recovery then power it off by holding the power button for 10-15 secons.
Power it on holding Power and Volume down button.
When writing shows up DO NOT PRESS UP, just wait.
Then you will get two images on the screen, the one on the left is wipe data, the one on the right shows a little android guy and says boot linux.
You want to press vol down until the android guy is highlighted then press vol up and you'll boot into android.
I'd recommend going back to a known working recovery like 3.2.0.1 You can either flash it via the recovery you currently have, or GnuFabio's Recovery Installer Apparently it's not as simple to overwrite... See post above mine.
This is a really good example of why you should always READ through a thread before flashing/tweaking/installing!
ive been running rouge recovery here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446019 and ive had ZERO problems its not the newest, but its super stable and haven't had any problems flashing any of the honeycomb or ICS roms... check it out
i install 5.2.0.7 with nvflash .
is work good
How you flashed via NVFLASH?
What SN have you? B70 or +?
i had a cyanogenmod for few months and this morning suddenly after i turn off my alarm clock the phone rebooted, and he now stuck in a boot loop of the cyanogenmod logo(blue circle), i tried to enter to recovery mode(power+vol down) and it shows me android with an ! logo and nothing else
i tried to flash with rsd 5.7 to stock and it still stuck on the boot logo(motorola logo) and still can't enter recovery mode
i tried to flash also to root sbf(BL7 if it matters) and the same thing
don't know what to do else, any help?
i have defy+

I've had that happen several times. Sometimes clearing Cache works. Most of the times you have to wipe /data partition with Custom Recovery. Now, after flashing with RSD you must go into Stock Recovery, and wipe /data with Stock Recovery. That will get your phone to boot up.
That "android with an ! logo" is the Stock Recovery. If you were on CM you would have had 2init installed, so to go to the Bootmenu/Custom Recovery, you have to press the VOL - button when the blue light turns on, not before, or else you might go to Stock Recovery.
When I flash with RSD, I always wait for the phone to reboot, and right when it reboots, I press the VOL + button so that it goes back into Bootloader, that way in RSD it shows the "Pass" message right away.

edit: when i need to see the blue light? because i get only red(to a second when i turn on) and white when it connected mcgyver style

Well, it seems like you've never used the Stock Recovery before. When you get to that screen you need to press both Volume + and - so that it shows the options.
With some stock SBFs I think you have to press the bottom left or right corners of the touchscreen for it to show the options, don't remember which side it is, and sometimes it's hard to hit the right spot, but it's there alright. Try with both volume keys first.
If you do manage to get it to show the options, do a Factory Reset, which wipes Data for you. Although, if you just flashed a stock ROM with RSD, there should be no blue light, just so you know.

defy stuck on boot loop
Mines doing this boot loop after running great for about 5 months. Seems I'll be able to get it back using methods detailed here. But is there a way I can keep my sms's bearing in mind I've not performed a back up for the last 5 months?
Anyone?
Does the advanced backup utility backup my sms data, so that i can do a wipe data factory reset?

I hadn't been in Stock either - all I've seen was about Pwr+Vol- - I'm an S3 and working on the Defy for the missus. So, thanks for the tip.
try
try to flash a rom '
hit the thanks button
download a custom rom or reinstall cynogen mod go into clockworkmod recovery sofe mode and do it
good luck:victory:
Here's my problem.
I can't get into recovery by pressing the power up, home, power buttons. It says it's 'entering recovery', but then it gives another 'buzz' (like when the phone starts), and just reboots normally.
I used to be able to get into recovery with ROMManager, by selecting the 'boot into recovery'. Then I just got into my CWM and could do whatever I wanted. Now I can't do that anymore, probably because my device is not rooted atm (got CM12 on it though). I wanted to root it, but I can't get into recovery.
I already tried flashing TWRP with Odin (download mode does work), but that doesn't work either. I obviously searched google and XDA for the problem, and I saw suggestions for other phones, like updating the bootloader. But I can't find any information or files for updating the bootloader.

Reboots trying to go custom recovery are normal sometimes.
Lil guide for enter custom recovery (TWRP):
1. Power off your device completely.
2. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
3. Release only the Power button when the logo of Samsung in white appears (you will see little letters in blue and red on the top left of the screen).
4. You will see the blue logo of TWRP (pic attached) then and you can release all buttons and start to navigate for the custom recovery.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think you understood my question. I know how to get into recovery when it all works. I've done it many times before. The problem is that it shuts down while booting into recovery, and then just reboots normally.
I only installed TWRP because CWM wouldn't work, but TWRP doesn't either. So I guess it has to do with how the device boots into recovery, regardless of what the recovery is.
Anyone? I kinda want to flash another ROM, but I'm unable to right now.

I don't think that's the problem. I have 0 issues with the power button. Also, when I try to boot into recovery, it actually says it's 'starting recovery'. Then it stops with a buzz and reboots.
