Hi all, first thread here!
Just got an Optimus 7 and I was wondering if there is a way to transfer my SMSs from my old nokia 6120classic to my new phone.
Any help?
Thanks!
Currently, there is no way to manually backup or transfer SMSs effectively to any Windows Phone devices.
'tis a shame!
thanks
What I would do is back it up somehow for now, and if in the foreseeable future, a method arises that allows transfer, you could use that backup. I am not personally familiar with older versions of Symbian, but there are plenty of resources to help you back it up available online.
That's what I've already done
Bye!

Hi,
I am currently looking into purchasing 750 XDAIIi Devices from o2. (after o2 release the new firmware version hopefully next week to solve the battery problem and release the blackberry client)
However, I will need to configure each device with a set of custom in house applications, and set it up in a certain way.
The easiest way i can think to do this is to get 1 device how i want all of them, then to take a copy of the rom, and to copy that rom to all the other devices.
What utilitys are available to do this? Ive so far found tools to copy the rom from the device, however im stumpted on how to re-flash the rom with the copied version.
any help/sugestions etc greatly welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Noodle.

What you need is SPB Clone great little app but expensive for my uses with you buying so many I guess it would prove affordable
http://microsoft.handango.com/Platf...ype=2&productId=150895§ionId=0&catalog=1&
More info at the link above or
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/clone/?en
Ah great info there, thanks.
However it says its compatible with the XDA, XDAII and XDAIIs, not the XDAIIi.
Its exactly what im looking for though

I'm sure you will find it does the XDA IIi drop SPB a mail and I guess they will confirm that!
The demo works on the XDAIIi so i think its time to spend some mulleh
This could save me a long long time

Thats good news please tell us all how you found the app a nice little review would be good!
Sure.
I think firstly i will explain the situation i have, then it might make things clearer.
I could possibly have 750 XDAIIi devices, and 750 Bluetooth printers within the next 2-3 months.
This is to be used for a mobile, in house application. I am currently looking for a quick, and easy method to setup all of the devices.
I currently have a mangement solution, using Mobi Control. Its a VERY VERY good piece of software, and the new version is out next week which will offer some SERIOUSLY good features such as device lock down etc.
The issue i have is that the XDAIIi will require a certain config before I install the Mobi Control Client. (certain bluetooth settings and application settings)
So, for my base device, i have installed the Mobi Control client (removed from cradle before it is named by the mobi control server) , and also setup the relavent bluetooth settings etc. I have also tweeked some device settings to help out the battery life, and also changed things like the mappings of the buttons.
Then i used the SPB clone tool. I installed it onto the device and ran it. The wizard is easy, it has about 3 steps. The first step is to choose where you would like to save to. I chose the SD card, however you can also use ro storage.
Then, you can choose to password encrypt your device, and also choose if you want to copy the storage area of the device. Then, is builds your image.
The image takes about 5 mins to build to the SD card. and its done.
Now all you need to do is to drop the SD card into another device, it auto runs the wizard and will build the device EXACTLY the same as the master device. It will prompt you for the current time, as the time of the master device is also in the image.
This is a great solution for me, because all i need to do with each new device, is drop it into a cradle for 2 mins at most. The mobi control server auto names the device with my naming scheme, and then installs and configures our in house applications.
So intsead of it looking likes it going to take me about a month to build all the devices, i might be able to do them in a few days.
Thanks for the recoendation of that application
Greetings,
I am new to the world of mobile computing and am looking for some guidance on choosing apps to load to my new Sprint mogul ppc6800. I have recently upgraded to the sprint released 2.17 ROM. I have factory installed IE 6.0 In searching the net there seems to be lots of reference and apps for WM3. Will most apps designed for WM 3 run on the WM6 platform?
One program I looked at listed three different versions for different processors.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-sudoku-ppc.html
I believe this unit has a Qualcomm. Which would be most appropriate or should I just stay away form the stuff designed for WM3?
A second program I am looking at is MS Voice Command. In searching the archives here, there seems to be enough support for me to get that to work if I decide on it, but are there other, better programs which will allow me to work hands free?
Thanks
Dan
yes most work even wm2000 apps will run on wm6
and your qualcom is arm based
My must have software
Voice command Is a very good program, for hands free simple to set up and use, mic volume and outside noise conditions can effect the performance.
Consider lokking at these
spb back up. A good back up program
spb Phone suite. Today plug in for you phone and contacts.
Spb pocket plus, today plug in and task manager.
Their are so many programs out their, and everybody has different syle, but these are the most suggested
Good luck

The best guidance is to read the forums, here and at the other sites. Pay particular attention to problems others have with the apps you research and the fixes for those problems. Also see how many users have uninstalled the apps due to problems.
Asking for opinions on what apps to install is like asking, "I want to buy a car. What should I get?" You will get a myriad of answers, mostly based on what works for the person answering. However, the question cannot properly be answered without knowing what YOUR needs are, what YOUR level of proficiency is related to computers, what YOUR ability is to live with side effects of the apps you load...in other words, only YOU can decide which apps are best for you, based on research into other's experiences, viewed through your perspective.
One suggestion based on my experience...find a backup method and back the device up as often as you can...for example, I back up daily to the SD card and back up the SD card weekly to my computer.
Thanks all for the insights to my processor and the suggestions. Back up is next.

Hi,
I need some help finding out which phone to buy. We are a family of three and need one each. It will primarily be used to access google calendar (multiple calendars), Gmail, Google maps (with GPS) and browsing. Is a Taatoo not good enough for this? We have been offered three cheap used devices, but I do not know if we should buy a newer/bigger android phone instead.
What do you think - is Tattoo sufficient?
Thanks,

Well, if you are not into the stuff of OS upgrades and so on, then Android 1.6 (Tattoo's OS) pretty much does the stuff you primarily want to do...but if you also want bluetooth file transfer you should look forward to get a device for which an android 2.1 OS is available..
Thanks,
btw - is there a android 1.6 emulator somewhere so I can see what it can do?
And last question - if we buy a tattoo can we upgrade to a newer version of android (i know about the 2.1 update not being avalible - but is there a 1.9-2.0 upgrade?). I can see you use a bootimage - can that be downloaded somewhere?
Thanks,
(and sorry for the studpid questions)
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers
Back to topic:
About emulators - you can download Android SDK 1.6, which features an emulator you can configure and play around with freely if you want...sorry, have no tutorial, but it's pretty much straight forward...
Unfortunately it's not as simple as thought - since the Android OS has to communicate correctly with all the hardware in the phone the device drivers and configurations are the main problem when trying to provide new OS versions such as 2.1 or 2.2...
The bootimage is only suitable if you want root priviledges on your phone all the time, but here it is (I assume you know what has to be done with it, if not: read the how tos...they are excellent...)

Are you using wp7 on your hd2 until the updates come out to see if they give us the simple features the os lacks?
If so will you buy a real wp7 phone?
Or wait for another rom for the hd2?
Or wait to see what new wp7 phones come out this year?
I tried android but "force close" errors would happen & the phone would always freeze up. So I just went back to 6.5 without sense. After installing Wp7 it's a big plus for me being stable even with its drawbacks & the first rom for the hd2.
I would like to have the following updates on my phone:
1. Copy/paste witch is coming
2. Usb mode even if it only shows pictures, music, office, pdf & such
3. Tethering
4. Easy way to make custom ringtones & text
5. sms draft
6. flash
7. all the rest of the regular things....

This community is all over the place. I go to this forum that forum, You have 7 threads talking about the same damn thing.
Hats off to the Mods trying to clean it up. (I've posted a couple things in the wrong thread)
Back on topic,
A real Windows Phone?
I don't know maybe I consider the HD2 a REAL Windows Phone 6, 7.....
As far as the updates go.
It took the I-phone what 2 years for copy and paste, they still don't actually support Flash.
Regular things
Microsoft is far from Perfect, Who is?
SMS draft - You really need that for 160 characters
Usb Mode - Do some searching, start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664&page=8
Tethering - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922000
Custom Ringtone - Ever heard of Chevron
These things ae not official, but for the most part they work.
To make threads like this is useless, Do the right thing and have the mods delete it along with this message.
Hello there
I used to struggle with copying files back and forth between my Mac and my HTC One which is why I always used Windows for that. I came across Android File Transfer, however, and I believe it is a brilliant, smooth, easy-to-use and light application that will not bloat your Mac. Unfortunately I do not think it has ROOT capabilities, but it still does what it is supposed to do fairly quickly and well.
http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
I am in no way affiliated with the developers of that application, I just thought I should share it for the benefit of whoever wants to easily transfer files between their Mac and One.
Cheers.
This belongs in the General forum since it isn't specific to the HTC One
