Hi,
Which one is the fastest rom (stock or custom)?
Thanks...
There are multiple different stock and custom kernel roms. But in general custom is not as stable but is "faster", at this point which one you use is up to you.
I wonder if I misunderstand what you mean by custom, oh well ^_^

By "custom", I mean CM, TripMiUI an etc... I think... hehehe...
wait for a stable custom kernel with 30fps uncapped and 16m collors. It will own all othe Roms

to answer the question of the thread, all people using cm6 v5 seem to be happy with its speed, including me. i havent run a quadrant test in months since i realized those numbers dont really matter. what matters is if YOU think the phone is fast, not what some app tells u is fast.

I totally agree on what you have said, hence for stability and usability, I would recommend stock + JIT mod.
However if you want more performance numbers and flash 10.2, then I'll recommend WB's CM6.1.3

It depends of what you want, speed, stability, latest, etc, and what your phone can handle mine can't handle overclock for example.
IMHO Eclair TeamWhisky Fusion Rom, Froyo Axura 2.0.4 Master.
I hope this help you.

haha! you said it well! I was about to say this.
Axura, and .5 should be even better once released.
You should go to the dev section and read about the different roms. They have different things that are good about each. Also different roms might work better on your phone than others. The 3 most popular seem to be Eugene, Axura and Team Whiskey(not in any order). FOr me Obsidian 4.2 with stock Kernal works the best for me. Like I said read first. One other thing I would say do is ODIN between each different Rom maker you use.
Obsidian v5 is running very smooth and fast for me, plus I love the black theme. I'd recommend it!
its all a matter of personal preference I personally like the Auxra ROM I like the looks the speed the battery life and the screen transitions! But look into the Android Development forum and read the feed back.

I do it just to keep from getting Ghosts. Its just my opinion.
Ive tried them all and I personally prefer axura for its amazing speed and battery life. The GPS works great for me too. Combined with Eugene's A14 ULF OC/UV kernel this rom flies. But be careful with the ulf kernel. I've had some pretty serious issues with converting dbdata to jfs...I would totally lose my data connection.

He was just messing with you, we have no gingerbread.
For me, it's stock JI6+JI2 modem + /data/data symlinked to /dbdata/data + root. It's fast as hell, solid as a mountain and gives me no problems at all.
i haven't flashed any of eugene's more current roms so i can't speak to those. however, i've been running the obsidian and onyx roms and they are great. but i flashed axura 2.0.4 last night and have been super impressed with it.
and really, imo, there is no reason to be flashing 2.1 roms anymore. there are great froyo roms that are fully functional, stable, and smooth.
Hi, i came back for galaxy 3 dev-section and what i saw was strange i was so happy that there are SO MANY custom ROMS but when i read the threads, their all the same :-( nothing new, nothing special :-( those ROMS arent any more custom :-( there are like 5 ROMS with the SAME features but different name... why? now im asking you to reply to this thread with yes or no. is there too many "custom ROMS" i know that there is somebody that says yes (too many "custom" ROMS) and somebody that says no.

Well it's really hard to "Create" a new feature and dev's only put things together while people like marcellusbe makes the features and he can't just give it to 1 person and not someone else. But the good thing is that some Roms look better than others and they get updates faster.

I tried three custom roms InDroid, Lestatious and Kyrillos. The most advanced in graphics and functions is Lestatious but Kyrillos is more stable and speedy. InDroid is very very very UNSTABLE. I can't do nothing cuz after opening a stock app for the second time it crashes with vibration bug like a stock rom.

I must agree with this observation, too many roms with equal functionalitys, maybe if we have just 2 ou 3 three it would be better for the 5800 community. I think there is a lack of focus, but anyway, i give credit to all rom developers, they now have the knowledge to devel a super rom all together. :-D
on the one side jae, but on the other side no, because everyone is right to present his work, but there are only 3 to 4 big developers, who brought out good Roms
based on JPM,JIT by ARMV and Fugumod OC, no OC, albeit some are DDJP2. The biggest difference is the theme, which can be changed easily.
I'm using Kyrillos's ROM. It's stable for me.

Heheh, i agree with dare-devil.....
i have used this 2 rom and elelinux6 is very smooth and fast!
I fully agree that floyo 0.20 is the best x8 rom sofar. I have been testing all roms available since last year (the different 2.2 and the different 2.3 versions), and since I installed three days ago floyo 0.20 I am really happy with it. Everything works, I have had no problem sofar neither with wifi nor with gps nor with bluetooth. The battery life is very good, the performance is great, smooth. As long as no 2.3 version is available without bugs, I will stick to this rom, I can only recommend it!
This is way better than floyo:
Srom-2.2.1FloyoX8-V2 by zousoum96&stelios97
i tried everything and Elelinux v6 is the most stable for me..but i dont like theme
floyo 0.20 wins i've no problems at all with this rom. i'll try overclock it now...
I only ran into 2 problems actually...
Camera crashing and USB tethering giving me some error... everything else worked perfectly tho batterylife seemed awful... but i have 3g on 24/7 what might of been the reason... i flashed back to 2.1 to compare em two.

My CM7 had the market installed, as far as I know.
It was there from when I installed it.
Did you include the Google Apps download? That's optional, but well worth installing.
Market needs the GApps package. Anyhow, good choice, because, for "non-tinkerers", using Sense ROMs is preferable, because you get a good, no-nonsense (lol) experience.
Well there you go!
I just rooted my tmobile vibrant..and now i want to know as of now is
cm7 a reliable rom to use?
which roms right now are the best or are working the best.
looking for a rom where basically everything works where i wont get missed calls or txt messages
Tard Rom or bionix nextgen they are both on the teamwhiskey site, or you can use one of the many jvq/jvr roms on the development thread
Tard Rom and bionix nextgen are the name of the roms im guessing
do you mind posting link with the most current version
From what I can tell the most reliable and established ROMs are all based on 2.2 / FROYO as 2.3 / Gingerbread ROMs including CM7 all still have issues with Battery Power and GPS. These are the two most heavily viewed / used as far as I can tell:
Project V 6/11/11
Bionix-v 1.3.1 from Team Whiskey
Bionix nextgen and Tard ROMs are available in the forums on the team whiskey site (registration required).
Again, it would be great to include a very limited selection of very stable ROMs in a FAQ. The current long list of all ROMs is fairly useless for the majority of us seeking a long-term stable solution.
Good luck!
I always come back to biwinning 2.2.1
It has everything I need which is good GPS and wificalling.,
I use Cyanogenmod 7, all the latest builds are fully reliable and stable.
I also use Hybrid SGS II JVP v. IV XXJVP 06.29.11 ROM and this is the best 2.3.4 ROM with TouchWiz 4.5 launcher. Its also the most stable ROM i have ever had.

if you want stable, just flash most any 2.2 froyo rom like trigger 3.2, bionix, toxic crazy 8, ....
most of the 2.2 roms are about as stable as you are going to get.
Ok ill try out cm7 then im guessing bio.since it seems to be mentioned the most
