[Question] Stock Nexus S rom from SD ? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Afternoon guys, Apologies first off. I have tried looking but Can't find a standard Nexus S rom to boot from SD. I have one for Nand but have a dual boot with WP7 set up, currently I'm using a gingerbread rom but prefer the standard Nexus S build I had previously. Not been able to find one, but hoping I just missed it and someone might know where ones hiding ?

Nexus S Rom
Have you tried this?

I think it's the Nexus S HD Rom. Works perfectly for me.

I think this is froyo from nexus one ... that rom is really fast as a wm6.5/SD built but somehow I wasn't able to boot it w maglr .. anyway if I remember correctly the only non-Sense 2.3 for SD is Americandroid .. its super fast .. worth trying!

I think I'm missing something here .. nexus S comes with gingerbread correct?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

It is Gingerbread yea but all the Roms I have found either have sense or other customs pieces embedded.I appreciate people like those but personally I prefered the Stock Gingerbread ( with just googles implimentation ) that was on the Nexus S. Im currently using the Americandroid but just wanted to see if there was the nexus s build around. If not, im happy with what i have

[Q] - Just bought Wildfire

Please bare with me.
I just bought Wildfire White. It's on the way to me. It will have 2.1 pre-installed.
What should I do first?
- I want to have one of these custom ROMs (which one is best?)

I want it to be OC-able. I hear that I need custom kernel for that. Well what do I have to do to get custom kernel.
Is there some guide that will tell me all this?
I would not.reccomend the first one (cm7) since it is not even alpha
if you like htc sense go for the new wildpuzzle not the chinese one
if you dont like sense go for cm6 but make sure to flash the maps and market file as well
note thease files may break your device.rendering it useless. You are responsible for your actions. This will also void your warantee. If you dont want that to happen then use the 2.2 ota but you will not be able to root or flash a custom rom. If in doubt stay on 2.1

lol, Dont scare him.
Well, first and foremost, I would recommend you read this guide completely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
After that, when you have rooted your phone, you can decide on the Custom ROM yourself. They are broadly categorized into 2 categories : Sense ROMs and Non-Sense ROM's/ (Sense is the default HTC UI). Then, you have to decide whether you want a Sense ROM or one without it, and, go about it accordingly. (Generally, Non-Sense ROMs are faster, since Sense requires a lot of processing power)
As for CM7, even though it is Alpha, I would recommend you try it out. I am using it as a daily use ROM, and, its perfectly fine.
I'm currently using cm7 night release 0. I think. Its great. There are a few bugs but nothing. That effects the phone at user level.

cm7 is great!!! the nightlies work perfectly ;D, very good for what you call an 'alpha' release ahahaha, and why stay on eclair or froyo, when you can have some gingerbread action
Still i would rather wait for a beta or rc release

CM7 Nightly 0 is almost perfect, pretty much everything works
Its personal taste anyway im stuck whith hboot 1.01 and am now wanting to try cm7 fail on my part

Would recomend de_version_4.a but then again that's my Rom lol

first of all root your new toy
after that, you should play with your phone till you run-down.
http://unrevoked.com/#wildfire
Try CM7 nighty build, i rooted my phone this month itself and the first ROM i ever put was the CM7 ROM and trust me i havent even looked around for other Custom ROMs, its fast, looks very good and all apps work on em..
Cheers, btw dont forget to read Turkey's Guide to Rooting..
OC is not stable,even 4.1.。。
CM7 build 23
so yea i figured out everything im not big fan of alpha roms so ill stick to sense roms for a while. i will surely move on to cyanogen mod later
i'm using cm nightly build 21. working just fine.
there was an issue in 18 but 21 is just fine. i have tried out almost all of roms for wildfire, and i found CM 7 to b the best of all.
No... I'd recommend wildpuzzle v0.8 first to get comfortable with first since it has all the capabilities of overclocking is stable although not recommended to wildly over the 700mhz mark and everything else.
Gingerbread is a big and not stable yet a little complicated to setup.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
i'm loving my wildpuzzle v.08,overclocked and super stable, i like sense too much
Cm 7 is very good I can confirm this. I am using build 16, everything works fine but I found it unstable overclocked over 700 on my wildfire.

Reminder dont update to official 2.2 (Froyo)
or u will not be able to flash any custom rom like me

[Q] Help with Cyanogenmod 7 ? Cant find information.

I have a TMO US Leo HD2 Running Cyanogen 7. I found the original mod in the NAND section of XDA site originally. Now, I cant find the forum for it. Did it get removed from the site? I checked out Cyanogenmod.com but it doesnt mention the HD2 being a supported device. I am just looking for some information on an issue Im having with the mod.
Does anyone know whats going on? Is this still a supported rom? Where can I find information i.e. forum, blog etc relating to the Leo HD2 and the Cyanogen rom 7 . Thanks sincerely for anyones help ! !
pleae go to setting>aboutphone and paste everything there.i think that you are using MDj's cm7 nand rom.that thread has closed due to some reason ... try hyperdeoid cm7 ver instead of it
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
I have the following.
HTC HD2
Android Version 2.3.2
MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 (v.2.6) A2SD+
Build number GRH78C
the trouble is that the camera and especially the video recorder crashes often. I am just trying to find if there is a work around or update ar something I can do . I lose videos often because when I press "stop" on recording it just kinda freezes and never saves the video. I have the up to date Radio and everything. I am just not sure what causes this. Everything else works great.
I really don't want to have to flash yet another rom. This is like my 6th droid and finally found one that works and is fast on the HD2 and doesn's suck the life out of the processor or battery. I have a 5 month old son though and have a tendency to grab my phone before my regular camera for those funny moments lol.
Any thoughts on this issue ?
Yes that's the problem. MDJ isn't allowed to share his work on these forums anymore because he didn't agree to share his code. So you won't find any updates for that ROM and you are on the latest version. There are many other fast CyanogenMod ROM's out there. Pongster has a good one. You'll find them all in the development section. I think they're usually all the same but coded a little differently etc.
You won't even notice the difference between a new cyanogen ROM and the one you're currently on other than bugs fixed.
I'm afraid you'll have to flash a new ROM.

ya try hyperdroid gbx or cm7 ver..its so fast

Eclair progress update:10/23/2011

So I managed to get an Eclair build to boot up but no wifi or mobile data.
Any one willing to take a stab at it? it is in cLK form. I will upload it later but i did this because the HD2 doesnt have an Eclair build and I just thought it would be nice for the Power phone to have it all
Here is the link :http://www.multiupload.com/I9CLY3JUW0
I hopr someone can get this working. I have an idea for mobile data but besides that I am stuck. this is clk so unless you change the boot to magldr in the kitchen it wont work only clk.
Changed based to the nexus eclair img with tytungs 12 old cam kernel it boots you can make calls but no mobile data or wifi. here is the link. :http://www.multiupload.com/IE04UCEJSB
Don't know if it solve your problem:
i flashed gomiui ROM a few days ago and had no wifi/mobile data, too.
i updatet tytungs r12.4 kernel and then it works.
Maybe its a kernel issue.

Thats the problem The HD2 doesnt have an Eclair rom so i took the boot.img and split it than took Rafpigna kernel cause tytungs wouldnt work and it booted up. I can play around with the settings and all but no connection.
How neat. I was thinking about this too but i've got no skills so it was just a dream. I just thought it would be neat as well as super fast. Did they ever make a sense version for éclair?

it is a sense version that someone had running on the desire so since the desire has the same hardware im trying but it seems like the HOneycomb port it will not go no where.
Good News! I have a working eclair rom the only thing that works is phone calls. trying to get wifi to connect. switch base to nexus eclair. so camera works/camcorder but need wifi.
more progress with a different base this one might be better. I know someone can get this done.
please change the title date....its 2011....
unless u have a time machine.....

probably 150/5mb would be good. it is not that big in size. to tell you the truth i have a 1024 leo and my partition is 450 on clk so i can flash any rom. im not really worried about having alot of space for apps cause i dont stay on one rom too long.

I thought it was only DFT Stock Desire build which wasn't rooted, but it seems I'm wrong. Well logically you could just move to a new ROM I guess, MCCM HD is a very good rooted SD Froyo/Sense ROM IMO
But of course I'm not sure how you would back up your data seeing as Titanium Backup and other similar apps all require root, and the data.img cannot be swapped between builds.
Also, have you considered switching to a NAND ROM? Bit off-topic but I just thought I would recommend it
I have been on nand for ages, but it's always slower than sd. Anywayzz that wasn't my question, exactly
I just want to know if it is possible. Sd builds are always faster on my hd2.

is there not an app on the market that gains root access with a simple one click? or am i thinking INSIDE the box?
Try searching for Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip and flash it via recovery. But be aware.. Im not sure if it works for your build. It does for mine.
Or use SuperOneClick.
Btw.. NAND slower then SD builds? Haha, very funny. The reading times were sometimes horrible slow. Especiallly installing multiple app from market and so on. Get a nand like hyperdroid and you are fine.
Nice day

try going to applications and after going to "All" tab, look for google play store and then clear data. After you do that, restart phone and try using market again.
it worked
thanks

This is due to the file structure being different between different roms. Grab Titainium back up from the market and make sure you have your contacts linked to google and you will be fine
I have titanium backup n backed up current stock ROM , contacts via gmail
im just researching which rom to flash

I would personally recommend you flashing this sense 3.5 rom which i'm using and it's pretty stable with an amazing battery life...and i'm planning on staying with it until a proper sense 4 rom is released or a complete aosp one...

Well Sense 3.5 is way better than Sense 2.1, but Sense based ROMs are generally a little slower (owing to all the animations and effects).
I am using this. It is a custom CM7.2 based ROM (I am using this with lordmodUEv9.5-ICS-BFS kernel). Its quite fast and very much responsive.

Slightly offtopic, how good is the battery backup?
Hmm sense based rom is like what you mention , but I prefer cm 7.2
battery wise I foumd setvsel it helps alot ...
I want cm 7 then sense
is it a bad choice ?
Thanks for asking

How is cm7.2 custom rom ? Im bit scared & Nervous on which to flash . I liked ice cream theme so Im not sure ...
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Before you flash, make sure you read the instructions. I jave the bad tendency of not reading first, which has led to a lot of trial and errors. I believe it was with cm7.2, when I flashed it it got stuck on the bootscreen. Later on I found out that you needed to flash cm7.1 and then cm7.2 for it to work. Some are full roms, others are just updates.
What to flash? That depends on what you like once you start flashing. Do try to stay with the same rom for a few days. That is, nevermind.... you'll find your own way.
Last thing, titanium backup is a 50-50 thing from what i've read so far. By restoring apps using TB it could bring errors. Once again, thats a 50-50 and nothing by my own experience. I download everything all over again. Before your first flash, make a backup of your rom... I forgot to do that one
Sent from a dream.
Thanks
I know that ive to flash current rom on rom manager , backup data on sd card , back up data for apps , contacts through gmail, sms etc
its all done just im not sure which to flash , its more like I can't decide. But I really like ics 4.0 theme so im still deciding
anyways thank you for the advice , warning )
