Any tips for being able to browse photos's on the xoom across the network. Running a media center server where my photo's reside. Would be great to be able to show photo's over the wireless link.
Have looked at uPnP clients however most ignore photos and primary do music and secondarily to video.

Hi,
Is there a piece of software available that allows you to browse directories and files on shared volumes (windows/SMB) on a local network via Wifi, and then let you play MP3s or watch JPGs stored on such a server?

login probs
I tried registering and left the email field blank cause I don't like to get spam. it accepted my registration but now I can't login with the password I picked because I never got the confirmation email for obvious reasons.
www.yamgo.tv works in my Opera brower although the movies are jerky. This site plays movies directly in the browser.
The site www.yamgo.movi does not work for me. I have been tying for the last two days. When I press a movie link it takes me to the windows media player tries to connect for a few seconds and then media player gives the mesage that the server is not responding. Anyone so far actually been able to stream movies to their media player??
Regards

The url should be yamgo.mobi, not .movi.
UCee is a software that connects two computers or smartphones together even when they are on separate private networks. The computers/smartphones communicate directly using peer-to-peer streaming technology. The data are never transfered to a server.
You can use it like a remote control to:
- Stream video and audio.
- Broadcast live.
- Access Photos and Documents.
Or you can reach out to other UCee members to see their playlists with interactive features like:
- Text messaging.
- Internet phone.
Found this at:
http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/ucee.shtml
You can now simply browser your server from the phone's browser since it has Flash support! No more need for the separate Android app.
And for those who have no idea what I am talking about, Subsonic is a music server to access your home music anywhere on the Internet.
It's fairly easy to get working:
1. Install Subsonic on your home PC
2. If you have a dynamic IP from your Internet provider, get a DynDNS account.
3. If you're behind a router, forward the port your Subsonic server is using to the correct PC's IP
4. Browse to your web server and login to your music
5. Rock out with your **** out.
i recently heard about this client as well as other streaming ones such as ampache. i'm interested in trying them seeing as my 16gb sd card is just about full w/ music. realized i need to save some space for when we get apps2sd capability. it's sad though because once the clients start talking about separate servers, MySQL, ip's, and such, i get a bit lost. =|
Well, I can say this... Subsonic does not require you to "activate" or install any other web server. It installs it's self as it's own web server. All you need to know is how to properly route your external incoming traffic to the proper PC running the server. Subsonic has it's own few quirks, but nothing I could get over.
are there any benefits of creating a vpn and using it on my g1? i was thinking of streaming videos over the internet to my phone for when im elsewhere.
can anyone point me to novice instructions on how to set one up.
what would be useful is the ability to set up a vpn and have a shared drive that can be accessed like you would if you shared a folder to another pc.
i know of drop box and the like but im sure the quality of the pictures i transfer has gone down. is this the case?
Is there a reason why you need to stream videos over a VPN? You could use a webserver instead? Setting up VPN servers/clients &/or webservers can be tricky...even more so if you then want to mount a remote filesystem after you establish a VPN.
well i dont just wanna use it to stream audio and video. i want it for transferring files across via the net when im not at my pc. i know i can use dropbox for this but like i said, im sure the quality is reduced on images i have transfered through that, or am i imagining it.
