[Q] Can't Flash Overcome ROM.. Andriod 3e Recovery Error - Galaxy Tab General

Thanks to all the contributors of this forum.
I am just trying to get the phone function on my Tab. I have rooted the Tab using Z4root that went without any problems and took about a min. Downloaded RomManager and installed CWM to the Tab. Checked to see if my bootloader is signed with the APK. It says no problem to install Custom Roms and is Unsigned Boot. Tried to back up current Rom with RomManager and it boots into Andriod 3e Recovery.....Verification failed. Tried installing the install.zip... Failed again. How do I get past the Verification failed on this Andriod 3e Recovery. My Samsung Vibrant had Andriod 2e recovery that didn't need signed images.
Any Help would be appreciated...

I would suggest asking your question in the Galaxy Tablet Android Development forum, where this sort of thing is discussed at length.
Also, if all you want to do is enable phone calls, then have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929479
You may be making this harder than it needs to be.

Recovery Mode doesn't work

Hi guys,
first sorry for my bad english.
I have a big problem to face with my N1
I wish to install a custom ROM, so I've rooted my phone and downloaded the Rom Manager apps from Market. I've flashed the clockwork recovery and downloaded the cyanogenmod. So I reboot my phone in fastboot mode, select recovery and now I have a black screen, nothing happens. My phone boot only when I take off the battery, so now I have no Recovery mode in my phone. Someone can help me please ?
I've already tryed to flash the original recovery and AmonRA recovery (1.7.0 and 1.8.0) from my PC but it fails everytime and I have this message => FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
My N1 is in FRF91 build, with a Vodafone ROM from France (SFR)
The recovery is dependant on which screen you have. You've possibly flashed an incompatible recovery...
Which screen do you have?
How are you flashing your recovery?

Is the USB cable plugged in AT ALL? I keep hearing Clockwork is unstable if it is.
I stick with Amon myself.

I have an SLCD screen and i've tryed all clockwork recoveries featured in Rom Manager app and the latest AmonRA ( 1.8.0 )
But the problem is when i try to flash it with my PC by connecting the phone in fastboot mode, i allways have this message : FAILED (remote: signature verify fail) which means I can't flash any recovery :s
Do you know what is the problem ?
Sounds like you flashed an incompatible recovery. You're heading in the right direction with Amon-Ra 1.8.0...
How are you flashing the recovery? (Since your current recovery has a black screen, are you using adb, trying to do it through Clockworkmod, etc?)

Yeah i've tryed to flash the latest clockwork recovery with Rom Manager, it works, i mean i can flash it this way but i have the same result : black screen. And flashing it with my PC using - fastboot flash recovery <recovery name>.img - code give me the failure message that i talk about on my last post
I've read a few posts about 1.8.0 failing with Clockworkmod, and I believe the adb and terminal methods require an unlocked bootloader. There are a few methods to flash custom recoveries without unlocking the bootloader (I still have a locked bootloader). Do a search, find one you like, and give it a try. Clockworkmod is one of those methods, but again, I've read problems with the 1.8.0 recovery on Clockworkmod...

thanks a lot for helping me by sending this link but as I said before, unfortunately I can't flash the recovery even with my PC, the only solution seems to make a bootloader unlocking, but I don't want to loose the warranty, i'll check other ways to do this without unlocking my bootloader, if someone know how to do this, i'll be thankful.
The link also discusses how to flash without unlocking the bootloader, which is why I sent it... (see posts from September 27)

Yes but see what hapen when I try it =>
The locked bootloader discussion points to this, which suggests using terminal emulator from your phone...

thanks, I'm trying it immediately
...but with 1.8.0
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Sure ? Not with 1.8.0.1 ? Because I have an SLCD screen
I meant 1.8x instead of the 1.7x they mention in the write up...
Also, you can ignore my comment about using terminal emulator, and use adb if you want (long day, and I'm tired)

I surrender, it doesn't work, and I'm tired of trying flashing a recovery. It means no custom ROM for me :'(
Take a break, and come back to it tomorrow...

What ROM do you have (build number)
Hi, so my build number is FRF91, I bought it from SFR (Vodafone)

Stock vibrant upgrade from T959UVJ16 - ECLAIR 2.1 to T959UVKA6 FROYO 2.2

I upgraded my vibrant 959UVJ16 - ECLAIR 2.1 to T959UVKA6 FROYO 2.2.
i had a very difficult time rooting it however it is rooted now.
i installed CWM and it will not boot into CWM recovery. it does not have permission
i have tried several different ways.
i have also tried busybox 1.17.1 and it says there is no space on the location to install /system/bin or /system/xbin
i would like to flash a custom rom and i can't get it into the CWM recovery or get the BusyBox Installed.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
i think it is a permission issue. (i could be wrong) i just don't know how to fix it. i have been at it for more than 5 hours and i am giving up at this point and desperately asking for help.

Also, look up untermensch 3e recovery fix thread you may need to install this as well.
root:superoneclick
CWM recovery:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480
Your issue is the stock recovery (3e).
Use the modified 3e, oka1 referenced it.
Like others said though, you could just go back to 2.1, root, flash cwr, flash custom rom.
Your choice, the stock froyo over mini kies was crap in my opinion.

I was having the same issue. After rebooting about 8 times and running Superoneclick several times, it suddenly worked.

Unable to boot into recovery using "Acer Recovery" from market/playstore

Hello. After updating my A500 to the official ICS rom, I easily rooted my tablet succesfully by downloading a program found on this website:
http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=350
Then, I downloaded an app from the market/play store called "Acer Recovery" wich lets you flash CWM recovery (which is built in into the app). The app said it flashed the recovery succesfully. Now, when I press the "boot into recovery" button I get stuck in the Acer logo and on the top left corner it sais in red: Recovery Failed
I would like to flash custom roms. What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks...

Which version of Bootloader are you running? The recovery installer app should tell you when you start it.
Also, which version of Recovery did you try to install?

Thanks for helping me out.
-Bootloader Version: 0.03.12-ICS
I tried installing the two only recoveries avaliable wich are:
-ClockworkMod Recovery rev1.3.4 by thor2002ro
-Stock USA 1.141.07_COM_GEN1 recovery
After flashing any of the two I click on "Reboot into recovery", it reboots but gets stuck in Acer logo and on the top left corner says:
-Recovery verified failed
I have the same problem too and I still couldn't find a way out
Firmware Specs are same as yours
I wonder if there is a simple way out
Anyone can help ?
Thanks

Ok, both of you need to go to this thread and read over the info.
The reason why your recovery "might have failed" is probably because you didn't delete a certain file from your rom before you flashed your CWM. That is... "recovery.from.boot.p" in the system folder.
If you don't, every time you reboot your will lose your CWM.
Anyhow, read this thread. Everything you need is there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
And if you;re going to install some ICS Customs in the future, I advise you install a patched unlocked bootloader.
EDIT: One more important thing. Before you folks go off flashing and everything, PLEASE... Get your UID number now, and write it down in a safe place (like the box your tablet came in . If you tab gets borked up, it's the only thing that'll save it.

As MD stated be sure to read that thread , once down reading it, re-read it , I would try using that method first ,it helps you learn , but if you want to go to this thread and it will be a whole lot easier :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675939
I always tell people in here read as much as you can , read through the Android section as well!

Thanks, I did it as well with AfterOta, what a great tool. I am already rooted in ICS and have public recovery working. I'd like to try some custom roms. Is there any other step I have to complete before flashing a new custom rom?
Thanks again for the help

I would advise making sure you have at least Version 3 or higher of the unlocked bootloader. Version 4 is better as you can change the boot image. Also, with version 4 (and higher) you can flash any future bootloaders through CWM.
Also, make a system (nand) recovery backup before you go flashing roms. This way you have something to go back to if the flash doesn't go right.
part of the original problem you had was the recovery you tried to flash was an earlier version which doesnt match ICS , You can get the beta copy of Acer Recovery ,but you'll have to search for it , it also has updated ICS recovery listed

Custom Recovery

Currently I have CWM version 1.0.3.4 and I'd like to either update it or go to TWRP. I've been trying all night but can't do it. When I try to update through ROM Manager, it says successful, but when booting into recovery it's still 1.0.3.4. Same with TWRP, I downloaded GooManager, and tried from there. Said successful, but did nothing. Is this a kernel issue? The way I see it, right now I cannot change my custom recovery no matter what. ( I also don't have access to a PC, so everything needs to be done on my device.. )
Thanks in advance!
Google s4 twrp zip xda. Flash that in your current recovery
Never use ROM manager for newer devices. It is very outdated.

[Lollipop, Rooted] First time rooter here, what do I do immediately after rooting?

I've been looking online for guides after you root your phone, what to install as in recovery loaders like TWRP (I tried installing it last night, it boot looped and said "Secure Fail: Recovery", I fixed it with a guide on here), ROMS, Xposed, etc, and I can't find a total guide on what to install first, or what you need before you install this. I'm really confused. Is there a guide anyone knows that could help me? I don't make much money so I saved up for 3 months to buy this Note 3 and I don't want to hard brick it or anything. Thanks for any help you can give me.
No recovery since bootloader is locked

TWRP doesn't work even though there is a version that supports the VZW Note 3. I guess this must be for the DEV edition. Until 4.4.2 you could use SafeStrap which is similar to TWRP except it isn't a true recovery, it just loads before the OS and allows you to do much of the same functions as TWRP. After 4.4.4 the only option I have seen is to use FlashFire which isn't a recovery at all but an APP that runs on the OS. What FlashFire allows you to do is make and restore backups, do full wipes and flash zips such as ROMS. It works similar to SafeStrap in that once you select to do any operation that requires running outside of the OS, it reboots the phone then runs at boot before the OS loads. The drawbacks are that if you get stuck in a bootloop you have no options for fixing such as restoring backups, flashing additional zips or accessing the file system to modify files.
