I just tried to load HoFo 307 for 32a. I booted to recovery and wiped the phone and partitioned the sd. I go to apply update.zip and it said error, no such file or directory. I tried to used the nandroid backup and it said run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb. Any help is appreciated. Newb post sorry.
[edit] I recently had a problem with my rogers magic 32A device. I was putting on a new ROM and deleted the update.zip by formatting the sdcard at the wrong time. I can get into fastboot mode but have never used the adb that I installed a while ago. I was wondering if you could show me how to access the device and put my update.zip on there. I can still get to my recovery screen as well and load an update.zip but there is nothing on there right now. If you could find the time to help me out it would be appreciated.
[edit] fixed the problem...
Figured out what i did wrong but if anyone knows a way to fix it I would appreciate the info. Have it sitting in recovery right now, not knowing what to do.
I am using a G1 and i am trying to get the super D rom, But every time i try and flash the Radio i get this message
E: can't open /sdcard/ota-radio-2_22_19_26i.zip
Seriously any info will help i feel like i might be missing a step idk but please help i really want this ROM
Hi, What recovery image are you using to flash?
When flashing the radio or SPL you should flash it as update.zip (using alt-s).
I am using amonRa 1.2.2
I go and choose the file I want to flash....do I have to rename it update.zip and use alt s...because I have tried it both ways and I still got the same error message
redownload, and replace. This sadly is usually the only thing that actually works. If it doesn't, then there might be a problem with your SD card. Try putting on the SPL and the radio on a different microSD (formatted FAT32) and try that
Thank you i actually already figured it out.,,,,
when i would boot into recovery mode and i would choose the file and it would already say ota.zip or whatever but little did i know i had to still rename the file with the .zip and the end so it ended up being ota.zip.zip which i thought was weird but it worked
Ok, I've managed to successfully root my phone a couple of months back using unrevoked (no problems there).
Recently Vodafone UK (my carrier) has released an OTA android 2.2 update which i was having trouble installing. I decided to attempt to un-root my phone and in my wisdom used the clockword Recovery mod to "Partitions menu > format boot"
believing that the factory default "boot" would be restored (big mistake) To make things worse i didnt make a backup of the boot partition using the "nandroid" option within clockworkmod (it seams obvious in hindsight)
anyway my current problem is that i'm stuck with a phone that wont boot into android and only my self to blame. Bellow are the current screens/options that i am able to access.

After doing some research/googling i came across this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-807509.html
which in turn lead me to this file:
http://rapidshare.com/#!download|38l34|419254202|PC49IMG.zip|126004
The file which it says is missing. Once i have an SD micro card reader (going out to purchase one tomorrow) i am going to attempt to place this file on the sd card (in the boot partition?!) and use it to try and boot from.
My question(s):
Will this work?
Do i have any other options?
Is it possible to find and download someone elses backup file and use clockwork to restore from that?
Any and all help will be much appreciated!
EDIT: Apologies for posting this thread twice, I didn't know which forums to post in.
I would advise you to install a new rom via recovery. Download wildpuzzle or something. You do not need to buy card reader. If you cannot do this, I advise you to goto the stock roms website and download the 2.1 ruu and flash that then re root using un revoked

so all i have to do is simply run the RUU while the phone is connected? no need for a "gold card or similar?
Flash the wildpuzzle rom first try that and it should work.
thanks, this worked.

Hi,
I am getting the same problem that my Wildfire doesn't get pass thru the splash screen after the OTA update.
I tried this steps.
any advise you can give me?
thanks.
1st, You need a wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 (V0.6 gives 165mb) Wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 download page
2nd, Make sure that you BACKUP your SD card (copy whole SD card to computer).
3rd, Move wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 that you have already downloaded to the SD card (DONT delete the copy in computer).
4th, You need to WIPE ALL THE DATA (wipe/factory reset) in your wildfire and make sure that you have already made a backup of your rom before wiping.
5th, Make sure that you backup your SD card with your BACKUP (backup-ed rom).
6th, Run in recovery mode and select wipe/factory reset the data.
7th, Choose install zip from SD and install your wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1.
***I only get
"E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation Aborted
hello,
i've finally managed to flash newest recovery and get my cm7 installed
now i am tryin to update my radio to newest version but ofcourse i am havin problem with that.. i am runnin cm7 with nightly 40, cmw 3.0.0.6, i downloaded newest radio but in cwm it says i cannot be installed cuz there is no more someking of scrippter in cwm 3.0.0.x oO, next i've tried via rommenager but it goes to recovery and i get the same error all the time ;f
what can i do with it? is there a way to flash radio with cwm 3.0.0.6? if no, how can i safely downgrade cwm to version that will be able of flashin radio?
cheers

yes that is the latest radio version. it came with froyo.
and how do u think u will update the radio alone. is it with PC49IMG.ZIP process.
i dont know whether updating radio alone (excluding boot.img + recovery.img) gives any issue to ur phone. can someone clarify that
Try using cwm fakeflash by "instalupdate.zip" this will revert back to old cwm on a temporary basis so you can flash roms and radio that are not written in new script language. Be careful flashing new radio as can damage your phone if you get it wrong

Eddster3000, i've tried to downgrade the cmw via RomMenager, it looks like i am getting temporarly the older cwm, but there is one major problem.. it doesnt see files on my sd card, only in cwm 3.0.0.6 it is working fine but cant flash radio but in 2.5.0.7 works only temporarly cwm but without seein the files on my sdcard ;f
is there a way to use adb to flash the radio? if yes then how to do it? i think this would be the simpliest way
If you used AlphaRev, it would give you fastboot support (I think) so it would probably let you flash radio through USB connection.
What is your SD capacity? If you can, try on another one that is 2GB or less.
my sd card is 2gb, what do you mean by alpharev?
i am on w7 x64 i flash cmw via adb so i thought flashing radio wont be a problem will it?
mlotson Have look at post 5 on this page =http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
mlotson - go to alpharev.nl for info. For now, only read the info, don't download anything. It's not released for Wildfire yet, but it's not that far away.
first of all i have s-off because i've used xtc clip. second of all that guide is reffering to clockwork mod 2.5.0.7 probably because the 3.0.0.6 doesnt support some scriptting which is why i cant flash my radio, however i need to downgrade my cwm do 2.xx to be able to flash radio and flash ruu.zip file. just tell me how to permanently downgrade cwm to 2.xx and i'll be fine.. i promise ;p
now it seems like normally i have cwm 3.0.0.6 but when i run rommenager it says it's 2.xxx the problem is that there is some sort of incompatibility between these two, one sees the files on my sdcard and the older one doesnt.
what cwm are u using right now? and where can i download it?
@ up date, the whole situation is probably because od 3.0.0.6 cwm, it did something to my sd card so cwm 2.x.x.x.x doesnt read it properly.. question is how can i fix it? now i have cwm 2.5.0.7 and it shows only clockworkmod/ folder on my sd while i have many many other files.. but when i change it to cwm 3.0.0.6 it reads all the files and every thing is all right but i cant install old roms because of scripting method which is not supported by cwm 3 < i guess removing the whole recovery wont do the problem because that is not the first time i flashed recovery and under 3.0 i cant read my sd in recovery.. please help!it pain in the as$.. -,O
I'm not sure how to permanently downgrade CWM but I'll see what I can found out. I think CWM will always show 2.xxx in Rom-Manager which is the fakeflash version, even if you have upgraded CWM to 3.xxx
I'm on new CWM 3 and it's same as you describe in RM but only differance is that I can temp' downgrade CWM and flash all old scripts.
Do you think it's to do with XTC clip process? I'm not a programmer so I'm afraid I can only help with suggestions

Surely if u have formatted the sd card them no matter which cwm you use will not find any files? Or did you format then copy the radio image to the root of the sd card? Have you tried a standard format of sd card using pc or laptop with a card reader? then copy files to sd card via pc before putting back into the phone.

i have formatted with pc, the sdcard was in the phone (i dont have card reader), it didnt fix it. so i formatted it again in cwm but again it didnt help, next i partitioned sd in rom menager but it also didnt work. now i am on cmw 3.0.0.6 because thats the only one which reads properly files from my sdcard.. i think ill try different sdcard but i dont have one for now ;p i guess til then i wont know for sure what's the reason

In fact you have to reinstall CWM 3.0.0.6 this will fix your radio or/and gps problems as it did on me
Have been running cm7 7.03 for quite some time originally installed using verygreens method with sd card cm7 installer 1.2. Decided I wanted to update to cm7 7.2 so thought I would update verygreens installer to 1.3 before updating to new version of cm7. Put update-genimage-1.3.zip on boot of sd card booted to recovery installed file and it appeared to install correctly rebooted and now I am stuck on Loading ... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You do not install that zip that way. You have to unzip it to the .img file and burn to the SD with win32diskimager like you did the first time.

Thanks for the info. I was following instructions that indicated that I could put the update-genimage-1.3.zip on the boot portion of the sd and apply the update through cwm. I did not want to reimage my sd card as I have allot of information on it.

ok, don't know why it got stuck then. You used CWM recovery on emmc to flash it? The recovery script on SD would not install it properly.
Yes, that's correct. Now when I put the sd card in I just get stuck on screen that says loading and I have to take the card out to boot back into the nook software. I did make a backup of my emmc with cwm before I started this but I am unable to get into recovery at this time. I am not sure what my next steps should be. Start the process over with another sd card and then try and salvage the info on my original sd.

I just read the instructions in thread and you do not use CWM recovery on emmc to flash that file. You are supposed to use the verygreen recovery script that is on the SD. By using CWM on emmc, you flashed the new recovery files to emmc and replaced CWM. That's why you can't get back in it. I think you can recover by putting the update- zip back in the root partition of the SD and trying to boot to the SD recovery. Then when you have got your SD repaired and flashed 7.2, you can reinstall CWM to emmc with ROM Manager.

I can certainly try that but I am now confused on which update.zip file to put on the boot portion of the sd to hopefully fix my sd card. Thanks for your help.

If you have one of the newer u-boot.bin files... you hit "n" when booting up and select SD card... Recovery... that will be verygreen's recovery mode.
If you still have the original u-boot.bin from genimage 1.2 (not very likely at all... since CM7 has had new u-boot.bin's for a while now) you would have to use the old timing method of power + n for about 5 seconds.
When I try holding the n key the screen comes back with Loading ... but never moves past that screen. Actually the nook will not boot at all when the sd card is in even if I do not hold down the n key it goes right to the Loading ... screen and just hangs there. If I shut it down and remove the card it boots into the nook operating system fine. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I have attached a file to the board. Download and unrar this file. There should be 4 files there. Take your SD card out and put in your PC. Copy these files to the boot partition, overwriting the files that are there. Take the update-geniimg1.3...zip out and put the update- ...7.2 ...zip in. Then put the card back in the nook. Boot and while booting hold the n key. A boot menu should come up. Choose SD and recovery and continue booting. It should install cm7.2 and you are done. When in CM7, use ROM Manager to reinstall CWM to emmc.
EDit: I added a second file. Unrar and add these two files to the boot partition too.
Edit 2: Files removed after user successfully repaired SD
Transferred the files and did the update everything is running great. Thank you so much for your help it is greatly appreciated.
