Hello all!
On my Kaiser, I had a hardware button mapped to launch NoteM, which would auto-start recording. Most useful thing ever
Upgraded from the Kaiser to a Rhodium (Tilt 2) running the Clean Black Rhodium wm6.1 ROM. Installed NoteM, and used Keyboard Config to map it to the PTT button (tried others). NoteM launches, but doesn't start recording until I manually touch the tiny red recording button on the screen.
There's an option in NoteM, under Advanced Settings, to "Start/stop with a single press". Though active and checked on my Kaiser, it's disabled (greyed out and checked) on my Rhodium Has anyone here experienced this and found a remedy?
I've checked NoteM's registry settings, under \\HKCU\Software\Alexander Zavorine\NoteM\, and they're all exactly the same values between my Kaiser and Rhodium. Even copied the exact same files over from the Kaiser, but the "single press" option is still disabled. Do you know what the program is looking at that causes it to cripple itself like this?
Thanks a ton!

I had a Universal until recently (too bulky, buggy, and Wizard is so much nicer!) so I now have the Wizard/O2 Xda Mini S.
On the Uni there was an icon on the Today page for changing orientation of the screen with 1-click. On the Wizard there is none, and I have to navigate through several menus in Settings to change it.
Any way to add the Universal's Today icon to the Wizard?
Or failing that, how can I add Start Menu shortcut to the 'Screen' option in Settings?
Check out phm tools keys. They have a screen rotation shortcut.
I think there are registry hacks to show the screen rotation UI icon though (WM2003 at least)

Thanks, would really like that reg hack if anyone can find it?
EDIT: I found this for the Universal but it has no effect on my Wizard:
To change the display of the screen rotation icon in the system tray
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION'
The 'HideOrientationUI' DWORD value can be set to '1' to hide the icon or '0' to show the icon
For example, to hide the screen rotation icon
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION\HideOrientationUI = 1

CRAP! I opened this thread for the sole purpose of making that exact smart-ass response. You suck.
:? Just to clarify for those of you who don't credit me with a milligram of intellect, I wish to orientate the screen when not using the keyboard. This is a feature of WM5 and the Universal allows you to do it from the home screen, but not the Wizard.
I have however solved it by using Spb PocketPlus

Anyway to do it without installing pocket plus ?
Why not hook it up to one of the hardware buttons ? If you're worried about running out of buttons, you can probably install one of the button managers?
I've got '<Rotate Screen>' (built-in option in Buttons) under the 'voice call' button, and Magic ScreenShot under the same button+hold (normally 'voice memo'); I highly doubt I'll use either of those voice functions, so they fit nicely there
I just added it to mort button, but its still a key press and then a tap of the screen, would much prefer a today icon just to be tapped.
Well, maybe time for a developer to step in and make a tiny application that rotates the screen
http://www.devx.com/wireless/Article/21590/1954?pf=true
and
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/rotatese.html
have code examples, but no compiles (boo, hiss - why is that?)
ZeBoxx: I've done it, but PHM tools already contains very effective screen rotation icons. Find PHM Keys... assign to hardware key or shortcut or whatever. Use his or my VJTrayLaunch and stick it in the tray as well if you want... oh, mort script does this as well I think.

Well, there we go
And for more light-weight (are they, really? I have no idea);
270-degrees (for Wizard):
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=15527
90-degrees (exact opposite side :x):
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=15011
180-degrees:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=15332
PHM Keys seems to have some other neat things that I might download it for, but personally I'm happy with just having <Rotate Screen> under the 1 button (no special button managers)
off-topic: is the PHM website ever going to be back?
I have pocket plus 3 installed, so i just added 'Rotate screen left' onto the close button context menu.
Now its just a click-hold and click away - even from within a program (comes in handy when using internet explorer).
hi
im making a cool phone skin for my jasjar...
the only thing is that ive mapped and replaced all the pictures (tabs or buttons whatever you wanna call it ) but cant seem to find and replace the voice call button..
when you hard reset youll notice that the dialer has a different skin than the one if you allow ext rom cabs ( the VTxxx.cab) to be installed..
there is something in that cab that not only signs on the intelli dialer but also adds the voice call button and the native dialer pad skin (note here ..that the colored button skin of the dialer pad is ALREADY present in the rom by default) but these are activated only after the installation of VTxxx.cab from ext rom
i was wondering
1) does any one know how to find /replace the voice call button
2)how can i enable intellidialer without the vtxx.cab ... through reg settings???
thanks
does anyone have any idea of getting the intellidialer to work without the cab from ext rom????
thanks
hi,
I'm working on the same problem. I haven't found out how to get rid of the video button though.
The blue skin at the beginning (when you input your pin) is the default phone skin from wm5. The one you see after the VT Plugin CAB is installed is the custom skin. The VT Plugin CAB seems to mostly just set those Registry Keys. Here is also where the Intellipad extension is activated.
You can activate or deactivate custom skins in the registry HKLM/Security/Phone
Just install the VT Plugin CAB from ExtendedRom and check out those Registry Keys that are set.
I was able to replace all buttons except the video button. All except the video button are in the ROM from the beginning. I decoded and dumped the ROM and deleted the carrierlogo.gif and replaced the buttons (most buttons could probably be remapped in the registry settings above also). Now when the VT Plugin CAB from T-Mobile is installed I have a new skin except for the video button (it's still the pink button from T-Mobile). If I find something out I'll let you know.
I'm assuming the video button is hard-coded in one of the phcan*.dll files. I will replace my t-mobile phcan*.dll files with the files from the qtek ROM and see if there's a difference.
BTW: how does your "cool phone skin" look?
ok, I can confirm that the video call button for intelli pad is hard-coded in the phcan*.dlls. I have now replaced the t-mobile dlls with those in the qtek rom and now I have the qtek (green) video button.
I also found that the transparency color settings must be in those dlls also. I had edited the qtek buttons after noticing that those pink corners were being shown when the t-mobile phcan dlls were there. Now with the qtek dlls the video button has proper transparency, but the edited buttons didn't. So if you use the dlls from qtek you will have to use the same pink color as a transparency color if you want the buttons to show properly.
Now I just need to find out how to edit the Today plugin from t-mobile (the t-mobile icon). When that's accomplished then I will have accomplished complete "unbranding" of my MDA Pro ;-)
hi
how could one edit the phcan**.dll... i tried opening it with resedit but that didnt work..
tia
here are the few pics..
You like Motorola don´t you
Edit the T-Mobile Today Plug in
Try this url. It is in German but you can get the message.
http://maisfeld.de/mda/index.php?action=artikel&cat=4&id=71&artlang=de tit works i tried it substituted the tzones bmp for a normal IE one.
change this reg setting and you can rename the T-Mobile plug in as well.
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Today/Items/"t-mobile"
use a reg editor to rename the "tmobile" to anything you want

i am using htc x-button on my treo and like the ability to actually close the application instead of hiding it.
however for onehand navigation it might be very usefull to add an option to close applications with the (hardware) [OK]button.
i am not a programmer but having a look at the size of the original program it might be a very small change to allow that. what do you think?
is it worth the try? would you say this might be a usefull additon?
thanks a lot for your time
ditch x-button & use PQzII instead.
or tman for that matter
@ deadeyes:
nice program but unfortunately doesnt work on treo with WM6. (display problems and OK-funktion not working)
@pat123:
thats "just another taskmanager", but doesnt fits my needs. it requires the use of the stylus to select and close programs.
i just want to use the treo onehanded as much often as possible, no stylus. so using the ok-button to actually close programs would be perfect. PQzII would be perfect (even overloaded for me) if it works with WM6.
any more hints on this one?
I am also trying to make my device (8525) as thumb friendly as possible. I use SPB Mobile shell, which has an easy-to-poke-at-with-your-thumb task manager. The task manager can be used to switch to or close any running application. It can also close all, close all but selected, or minimize all. I mapped the task manager to the PTT button (using Sleuth's PTT fix) for easy access. I also mapped the Today screen to the hardware Internet Explorer button to use as a "minimize all" button. (SBP Mobile Shell also has makes it possible to add large icons to the today screen to launch your favorite programs). I now have a fairly easy time switching between apps while walking or whatever without using two hands. I still wish I could map the "OK" button to close rather than minimize though. Maybe someone with far more skill than I will come up with a way to map the "OK" button to close an appication. I'm more "user" than "developer".
...Or Pbar for that matter.

hmm, I'm using it on WM6 (hermes however), and it working perfectly.
by display problem, do you mean the white square on your top bar? if yes, you can disable it in the icon tab.
did you check the "Use OK button" in the Window tab? if yes and it still doesn't work then you will probably need to map close function manually in the system tab. (you will need to find out the key code in concern, they have other apps to help you do that)
I found something new (to me) since my last post. I just found vijay555's OK/close button application. It can be mapped to a hardware button (not the OK button unfortunately), but it works great. It's much easier to use a hardware button than it is to try to wedge my fat thumb into the upper right corner of the screen. Here's the link --

I am looking for a solution for changing the programs in TF3D.
I tested already the Alt-tab.exe and the alt-tab in Aebuttons.
If you have 3 programs opened these alt-tab changes only to one or 2 programs.
I mapped the alt-tab to the back-sensor button (right button to "Home").
Does anybody knows a working solution?
Me too!
Furthermore, is there any way so set the taskmanager that comes with HD and is only useable in homescreen on a button, so that it works form any open window?
copy the TaskMgr.ink from windows to \windows\startmenu\Programs - It is not beautyful but it works. I´ve set it on long press phone button - bebause I need all buttons as they are
well the taskmgr.lnk contains the html-help to the taskmanager. if you start the taskmgr.cpl you have only a windoq of the running programs. not a finger-friendly solution.
Yes
I would prefer a solution as is already is on the HD on top of today screen. But I don´t find a way to get it to work on a button.
Hey try this one! I like it

Hello,
I am looking for an app to toggle my gps on/off. Can anyone help me with this?
I have the issue that when I have my phone in flight modus and am out of the country both GSM and GPS are disabled. I would like the GSM to be disabled in favor of GPS to be enabled. I wan't this option for my Tom Tom navigation when out of the country,so it does not get interrupted by phone calls or smsses.
Kind regards
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gps-toggle.html
Im also looking for a simple on/off toggle button for the gps.
Since you can have that in android i figure it should exist something similar created for wm.
I have only found wm homescreen plugins so far but since thats no use when you running manila or CHT it not even worth downloading.
Looks like ill have to keep searching....

You're right.
I'll test it under pure WM and check the registry while toggling on opr off : maybe I'll be able to detect what keys to change to get the same results directly, and possibly make a CHT widget.
Edit :
Found this one here :
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Samsung_i600
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver]
"IsEnabled"=DWORD:00000001
-> change to 0 to toggle off ?
I'll check if it works... And if it actually saves battery life.
A Possible Work Around
I could not get the app from the link above to work on my HD2. It said it installed successfully, but I could find no exe or shortcut for it anywhere on my HD2. I searched a couple of app forums here and found nothing else.
Here is a possible solution although it is not a one-click solution like most toggles. It is based on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645916
Using a text editor, paste this into a new file:
30#ctlpnl.exe AGPSSettingsCPL.cpl - location services settings
Save the file with the name such as GPS Toggle.lnk (that's a small "L" in lnk).
Copy the shortcut file to the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder. From there you can access it using the Start button/menu. Also, depending on the UI, you may be able to create a button on your main screen. I have Co0kie's Home Tab which provides the ability to create buttons on the home screen. (Co0kie's Home Tab has a number of toggle switches, but not one for GPS.)
This shortcut will bring up the Location screen from Settings. This may or may not be what you want. To be honest, I could not find a place that says "turn on/off GPS."
AGPS only allows to use available data network to update the satellites positions database in order to speed up satellites location.
It should have nothing to do with having the GPS receiver actually turned on or off...
In fact, it's turned off on my HD2, and I'm still able to use the GPS.
I'm currently trying to evaluate the effect the above registry value change has on battery lifetime...
Edit :
OK, at least your post put me on a track :
The registry tweak actually switches on or off the "Automatic GPS management" checkbox in the "Access" panel from the "External GPS" applet in WM "System" settings.
You can still use a shortcut as the one you posted, but it should contain 25#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,25,2 instead (GPS settings - Access).
Now the registry trick has strictly the same effect, and can be made out of a simple MortScript - then a CHT switch, too.
The only problem is I couldn't notice a better battery consumption, actually...
