Anyone here found a way to make the Swype Beta from www.swype.com to work correctly on an HD2?
It worked fine for months, until the new version came out, and now it says
The Swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality.
Please contact Swype about this issue

I hate the built in android keyboards, as they're crap.
I'll have to make due with the XDA keyboard, which is actually really good.
Hi,
I use SLIDE IT KEYBOARD which is essentially the same as SWYPE.
I know SWYPE was free on WM,but it just doesn't work for me on Android.
Hence, it cost a few quid, but if that's what you want......

Eww... Slide it doesn't quite have the functionality as Swype for me.
Also, I fixed Swype. I just re-opened the SWYPE INSTALLER, disabled swype, and re-enabled it and re-authorized the token/authorization.

Hello,
I installed Swype 2.0 for WVGA screens on my HD2
and also installed the 'Baly23 Swype HTC-Like Skin'
however I cannot seem to get the app to function,
frankly I don't even know what to do after installation.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
start a new message or note or something,I guess the normal keyboard shows up? press the arrow just to the right of the small keyboard icon bottom center below the keyboard, choose swype.now start using it.
I didn't install any skin, i'm just using the one that was posted yesterday from the tmobile hd2 and it works perfectly. is the skin that important to you? I would say just use it without the skin

do you have a link to that post? can not seem to find it
I can't get the skin to work either lol, not that bothered though but I do agree that the latest build of Swype from the T-mobile ROM, works very well and it's clearly optimised for the HD2, unlike the one from the Omnia II.
I'd post a link but I fear Swype is going to be categorised as a 'Grey Area' just like Microsoft Voice Command.
ok i now realise hte mistake i was making lol, i was expecting it to be with the predictive text or abc functions on the left of the keyboard, the picture shows up however when i click the swype icon a error appears regarding a missing 'EnglishUS language' which i have no clue about, any ideas?
thanks
is there a good swype keyboard for 6.1??
Thread moved to General.
And to answer your question.... I don't think swype is compatible with anything below 6.5, but I could be wrong.
It works on the stock VZW 6.1 rom.

Then, I guess I was wrong
Thanks scotttr!
Here ya go!
I have the original swype and the new 3.3 (swype 2) version cabs.
swype 1= tested and works with 6.1& 6.5
swype 2= tested and works with 6.5, haven't tested for 6.1.
I dont like the new version because it's not as fast as the original and also takes up more than half of the screen. the 1st version may be a bit hard to read but is lightning fast imo.
Ofcourse, you can set the speed and error tolerance by going to start>settings>personal>input (make sure swype is selected)
but none the less, here are both.
Have a Nice Day
Mod Edit: attachments removed since Swype is not a free distribution software
There's a similar software to swype
The Similar software is Shapewriter, works like swype and it's not bad, it works on the HTC Touch or all Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0.
Here's the link: www(dot)shapewriter(dot)com/download/windowsmobile(dot)php
(. replaced by dot)
I've been using it without registering but seems a good software to pay for it and that would take care of the asking of activation.
Hope this helps anyone looking for this kind of keyboard.
Have someone installed swype for wildfire? Any sugestions?

What is swype ? What does it do ?
With swype you can text without lifting your finger off the keyboard.

I installed swype 1.47.24.6828.t100. Page I downloaded this soft from said that it was a version for QVGA. Sadly it does not work :/ I'm waiting patiently for someone to figure out what to do.
Swype installed correctly but despite enabling swype in language&keyboard in settings I could see swype keyboard. I don't know if it's because of HTC sense or something.
Has someone succeded in installing swype for wildfire?
Remember, when you have installed and enabled a new keyboard, you need to "switch to it" too. That you do when e.g. typing a sms message. Then you hold down your finger on the text area, and in the bottom menu "input method" or something like that you have to select swype.
I haven't tried it for myself, because I own a Desire, but sounded like you didn't switch to swype

Thank you so much!
That's exactly what I needed to do.
So as you said you need to:
1) install swype from apk
2) enable swype in languages&keyboard
3) start typing message. hold finger on typing area and select "input method". Select swype and voile - you can type in swype. In the beginning there is a tutorial on how to use swype.
My version was for QVGA but it still said I have an incorrect screen size - despite this it worked fine!
Thanks again.
I don't know if it's allowed here but that's the version I used:
If it's against the rules, just delete the post.

hey kosiara, is your swype version outdated? cos when i tried running it says trial period ended ):
I am using v. 1.54 for qvga. No FC. No trial period end. Perfect.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Could you please give the link or attach the swype Apk you got
If you use a google and write to "search box" a Swype 1.54 for qvga, first link will be right.
Now the first link isn't right. You have to choose third or fourth link now.
did u got any problem in lanscape mode?
mine seems weird
Swype included with wildpuzzle rom works fine

Huh? Skype? Are they even the same on the first place?
It works fine, full screen too. Try it if you need skype.
We're talking about Swype, not Skype.
Hello everybody,
I am currently running this ROM:
EnergyROM Rhodium TouchOfGlass
I downloaded several Swype cabs, but all didn't work or it kept restarting my HTC Sense and others didn't even showed the Swype keyboard but just the regular keyboard.
Can somebody help me to set this up? Is Swype also language-based, it doesn't matter tho but I'm curious.
Can't find a working .Cab through the search box, only links which are deleted files or non working links.
You know you change the default keyboard by touching the right side of the keyboard button, right?
Nobody can post or link to Swype anymore. The developers sent a cease & desist order to XDA, so its now considered warez.

Ever hear of Google? It's pretty easy to find. It took me all of ten seconds to pull up a working link. I doubt you were looking very hard.
I don't know if this is an Arc issue or a Gingerbread issue... But I really prefer using Smartkeyboard Pro, but I see no way to enable it. Even though it's checked in the Settings screen, I can't actually replace the stock keyboard.
Any tips?
long press on the area where your text is and you should be able to select your keyboard.
D'oh! Thanks. I'm too used to the way I did it before - long press on the "1 2 3" key.
Any idea or link to download HTC Ime pad for Xperia Arc? Really miss this one? Thanks.

Haven't tried that, but Swype doesn't work for me. Tells me that it was not made for this device and that it has limited functionality. Limited meaning it behaves just like the default input and not a Swype input.

Swype signed an exclusivity agreement with samsung or motorola, some nonsense like that. You can use an alternative tools, like nuance flext9:
http://www.reghardware.com/2011/03/01/app_of_week_android_flext9/
i replaced my keyboard with the smart keyboard pro and it works a charm was also really happy that I could change its skin to a black keyboard. excellant quality

Swype works if I install the full package (10mb) rather than just English/Spanish.
