On my aria a green line appears on top of all hd videos regardless of the program used to play them. this does not happen to standard def videos. it only started to appear after I installed CM6. its out of the way and doesnt bother me but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
This is discussed in the CM6 thread. Specifically it's mentioned about Youtube HD videos, but I do believe it applies to all HD. The cause is mentioned as well as an experimental fix.
Thats is a known issue on CM6 for the Aria... and is something that will never get fix.... your best choice is to use the workaround mentioned in the thread.
thanks for the responses. I checked the thread multiple times to look to see if it was an issue with CM6, I need to look harder next time.

It's a difficult fix, but I think it's possible at some point. It's a scaling issue and not all HD videos have the issue.
I've tried a lot of android builds whilst the development has been going on and found that Bangster's 1.4 coupled with Michy's R11 was the best for me with regard to screen sensitivity and keyboard accuracy.
I recently had a dabble with m-deejay's next-gen builds Desire HD/Z etc (which are excellent by the way, credit to him), and found that I was getting a lot of screen bounce, missed button presses and a very frustating keyboard experience (Hastarin R7.1). Pressing and holding the delete key for example would result in keypresses bouncing all over the place, sometimes several keys removed from the delete key. I tried a plain Froyo Sense build and found the same thing, although not quite as bad.
So, I decided to try the bare kernel from Michyprima's R11 (AXI, Desire, OC) on my current Froyo Desire build just to see if it was down to the kernal 100%. Instant bounce removal... keyboard is accurate and now when I press & hold on the home screen, I don't get the screen wobbling from side to side as the software thinks that I'm moving my finger around rapidly.
To recap; it seems like I was getting more bounce with Hastarin's R7.1 than any other, but certainly Michy's R11 (Desire based) is making my phone usable again. It really was bad before.
More messing required methinks... I may re-load the Desire Z build on to my SD card and try R11 to see what it's like. One thing I remember is whilst trying m-deejay's Desire HD 3.1 (which had an Evo kernel IIRC), keyboard bounce was almost non-existant. It wasn't until I changed to D-HD 3.3 that the keyboard became a pain to use (Hastarin R7.1).
Hastarin if you read this, please note this is by no means a dig, I have the greatest respect for all the guys posting builds here, these are just my obvservations.
As with all things Android/HD2 related, YMMV. Your thoughts are welcome.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I've taken a couple of quick videos of m-deejay's brand new 3.4 Desire HD build showing this phenomenon (kernal is huanyu's #21). Replacing the zImage with Michy's R11 virtually eliminates it.
Video 1 - homescreen
Video 2 - keyboard
Could this be Windows ROM related? Might flash another WinMo ROM to see if it's any different.
Edit 2 Sent my HD2 back to HTC today, hopefully for TS replacement... see relevant post here.
Edit 3 Received my HD2 back from HTC's repair department. Problem fixed. No more bouncing Relevant post here.
No-one else with similar experiences?
Me too!
previously was using M-deejay's froyo sense 2.2 and the keyboard was a great improvement from my old stock HD2 Windows keyboard, which was oversensitive and jumps alot, making typing a hassle. I did not have any problems with the froyo sense 2.2 keyboard, it was accurate and sufficiently responsive, and even have my essential chinese input.
However, after the 2.4 version was released, i updated it, and noted that the browser's bookmark crashes. So i though, why not give EVO Sense 1.6 a try?
Btw, i did not realise any problems with the 2.4 keyboard, so it's probably as good as the 2.2 version.
Then i ran EVO sense 1.6, and i feel that the keyboard is different. Firstly it's the additional arrow buttons below, which is useful, and more like the original HD2's keyboard. Then it also has chinese input.
BUT i experience alot of the "bouncing" problems, if not more than my original HD2 windows rom. tried calibrating a few times, and deleting the calibration, but it doesn't help.
i want to emphasize again i am very grateful to all the developers like M-deejay, Hastarin, for developing all these builds that are effectively working. this is likewise, just my observation.
Anyone else? I can't believe it's just us two!
Videos added to 1st post.
I tried to replicate your problem (m-deejay's Desire HD 3.4) but I coulnd't. I also thinkg that the keyboarad its not as accurate as some of the builds but its not that bad as yours.
I'm sorry to say but the lag with the keyboard kinda looks funny
My keyboard isn't very accurate too. Sometimes it just takes the wrong key. I mean when I press the backslash it takes "m" or something although i was pressing backslash. This was on Hastarin 4.1.
But it really seems to be kernel related. With the r11 my keyboard is okay.
I don't think is caused by the WM ROM, but which one do you use?
have the same prob!
yep...and I get phantom touches also.

that's great my friend
Well.. i have the same thing in hastarins latest kernel
I dont have this on DesireZ out the box.
I have MDeejay's latest Desire HD build and have this problem, how do I fix it? If I need to replace the Kernel how do I do it? What side effects will it have?
Thanks in advance
keyboard bounce also experienced by me when i am trying to type fast, using hastrin r7.1 as well, maybe is caused by the touchscreen delay?
have you tried keyboard calibration?
in the setting menu ..
it ask you to type that ..lazy brown fox jumps..
it helps me alot.. well some of it i guess
and also try the schrub bartome build. the keyboard is perfect-iphone like. im using this build for day use
I experience the same issue with the new kernel releases. But with hastarin #3 the touchscreen works normally.

I have developed a simple video editor for Android called VidTrim. It's available on the Android market for free.
It has been downloaded over 10 000 times, but there are still some devices that the application does not work.
The thing is that, each Android device manufacturer uses their own encoding format. It's generally H264 but somehow it's different and the application cannot handle all of them.
I only have one Android Device, Samsung Galaxy S, and I can only test on that. So I opened this thread to ask for help from people with different devices.
If the application is not working for you, I would greatly appreciate it if you can send me a short video clip taken on your device. You can send them to [email protected].
Please add your device model and Android version it uses. (If it's a custom Rom, I would appreciate if you specify that too).
If the application works for you, then there's no need to send me the clip, you can just post a message here to tell that it works on your device, like "It works on HTC Eris, Android 2.2 etc..."
Thanks for your help.

Yes, just saw it.

The bad news is that the MIUI ROM comes with heavy UI customization and it won’t let you enjoy the ICS UI novelties, but that’s not necessarily a bad news.

I just flashed this rom and I'm loving it. I've been using it for 2 hours and I love the MIUI features. It's like Cyanogenmod, but less nerdy and seems to offer better/more functionality.
What I love most is that the Flashlight will start from simply holding the 'Home' button at your lock screen.
Makes it super smooth to enable/disable flashlight, as it disables when you let go the home button.
If you don't like the MIUI launcher, use Go Launcher or some other instead.
I couldnt get used to the MIUI because it places all your apps on your homescreens. I'm sure you could get used to this, but I don't feel like it.
DEFINATELY TRY IT THOUGH! It's butter-smooth.
Just remember to make a Back-up of your current ROM using CWM
Usual stuff that have bugs/dont work:
1080p recording
Video playback (avi, mpg, mkv, etc)
This rom with ics theme and ics launcher will be sweet
downloading now =)
i am kinda addicted to cyanogen cause of the settings menu, but i think ill survive
Sadly i cannot change my Beautiful widgets skin
oh well

Correct me if I'm wrong.
But MIUI is based on Cyanogenmod correct?
If so, some files don't work. From my testing, x264 encoded files don't work, as do some files downloaded from Youtube.
For those that have installed, can you try using Tubemate to download the 1080p version of the Battlefield 3 launch trailer and see if it works? Thanks.
Giving it a go myself tomorrow morning. Gonna sleep now.

So I am not usually the guy to post new threads. Most everything I need I can find already. But after I was video recording my son at the park today and missed yet another video due to FC issues I guess it's time to finally ask. I have had my HD2 running some android rom or another for almost 2 years. I presently have CM7 Tytung v 3.8.5-MAGLDR. The reason I am asking this here and not in that thread is because it has always been an issue regardless of the ROM I am running at the time. The video recorder force closes. It's that simple. It works intermittently and then it will inevitably force close and can not be re-opened. The only fix is to reboot the phone. I have tried about every camera/video app in the Play store. I have flashed different cameras. My wife also has an HD2 Tmobile the exact phone as me and has the exact same issue as me. The video recorder force closes. I have to wonder if I am just missing something simple? Is there an app or something to flash differently? I recently had WP7 on my HD2 and the camera was AWESOME ! WP7 just doesn't do what Droid does.I am open to suggestions. Is this a known issue I am just forced to deal with on my HD2? How can I make my Iphone buddies stop laughing at my force closing Android HD2?

Youre not alone, same thing happens to me :/ no matter the ROM, i remember reading a thread about it but what i read didnt really help. It said something about not using the fix because most newer ROMs have the fix installed. So i didnt bother downloading it and cant find the thread anymore. Im gonna go look fo rit. hope others can help us both!
I found this earlier today here on the XDA site "props to whomever it came from " I just did a random search and found it. I was using my phone so I'm not sure the page exactly. Never the less I unistalled the stock camera via Titanium Backup and flashed this through CM Recovery. It has a video feature and a decent camera interface. So far no lock ups. Only this afternoon though. Time will tell. I've been running test to try and fool it. Using lots of memory, taking multiple shots switching back and forth, rebooting etc. So far its worked. Try it out, lemme know if it works.
Well, I had been using a CM7 Nightly neared build with a few mods that jar never failed me with camera and camcorder- it was so dependable that I have it on my old, some-hard-keys-dont-work HD2 because am using ICS primarily nowadays.
I'll post what changes I make later, and can post the ROM itself here if anyone wants to try...

*Update* So after almost two years of agony I may have finally found a fix. The .zip file I posted earlier has worked so far. I fooled around with it all day yesterday and last night as well as this morning. I tried everything I know to make it crash from running multiple apps, opening a camera during a call, playing music then opening the camera etc. Rebooted a couple of times. Still not crash. I'll keep posting here with status updates. I found this yesterday on the XDA site. I just did a Google search. I am not sure who originaly posted this .zip file. If it continues to work I will give them a hug
