I have read many of the guides here on XDA, but I am still confused.
Which method, preferably the easiest, can I use to root my T-Mobile MyTouch 3G 3.5mm jack version, which has been updated to 2.2.1 officially? Thanks for your help. Here is the information from the phone:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.28.25

I was able to temp root before with z4root, but that doesn't work anymore...so, looking now for easy perm root but I haven't found a guide that is for our phone...can anyone help guide me? Thanks!
make a gold card, follow the guides. It's not hard really. Just remember that it can take 15-20 minutes to boot. So dont consider the phone locked and try to pull the battery or anything unless you've waited 30 minutes.

Hi,
I've been trying to get past the Google Activation screen on a MyTouch that has no service but have been unsuccessful. I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=588017 method but it didn't work though I didn't think it would since it shows it being done in two different patterns.
Anyone know how I can access this phone? Can I root this phone even though I've been unable to access it? If so, what method do I use.

Most of custom roms give you option to skip activation , When it comes to method , check out cyanogenmod wiki

What kind of HBOOT is that, never seen that in my life. Do you mean 1.33.0006?
What do you mean which version is it? Which version of what, it's a 32B, that's all I can tell you from looking at that

I assume it's a typo and you have 1.33.0006 , if so --> forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570659
I have tried numerous methods and I still haven't achieved root access. Tried making a gold card ect. Searched for hours through the perfect spl thread and was on a computer for 6 hours last night trying to root this any one have a clue. Im using a mytouch 3g no jack original version this is what im running: some how by following a tutorial I ended up with this. I have swype and even the updated music player. I just need to know what files to download. I hereto ferrying main version is older. Thanks in advance. Blamewes

First of all if you follow all the instructions you shouldn't have any difficulty.
Secondly, you posted in the wrong section. I'll move to General but next time I'll close your thread.
Third, I took the honors of removing post #2 and used the EDIT button to modify your original post. You should also consider editing your original post before posting one to correct it for future reference.

Lol some mods just cant drop it. And for your info i followed the instructions to a t and still no root. I was simply asking for help not to get griped at. If you read my post completely you would have noticed i clearly said I had tried numerous times. And opera mini in mobile mode didn't let me edit my post.
Bump any idea on what I'm doing wrong?

Who knows. You have a perfected spl so it's hard to say.
What works fine for some MyTouch phones may not work for others.
Since we don't know what instructions you have used and what methods you have used it's impossible for us to tell you what you're doing wrong.
It's not that we don't want to help, because we do, it's just very difficult to do so when we know nothing about what you have done so far to do it yourself.
So far the only thing that you said was you followed 'THE' instructions (which ones... we don't know) and failed with a MyTouch device with these specifications:

That's all you've given us. Don't get upset at me (the "Power Trip Moderator") or the rest of the community because we haven't given you an answer to your question.
The more you break rules 2 and 3 the less likely you will receive the assistance that you are so desperate to receive.

His username is psycodrumfreak and he has successfully rooted his device (at least at one point since he decided to Un-Root) so it seems to be possible.

Please show more patience with him than you did in this thread and treat him with the utmost respect whether he can/does help you or not.

Hi all, I am helping my friend upgrade her mytouch 3g to froyo after reading the guide listed on this page. However, I am extremely confused by what version of android she has in her phone.
The baseband is listed is 62.50sc.20.17u-2.22.23.02
kernel is at 2.6.29-g023e5c9
build number at 2.10.531.4.
Is this DR92 supposed to be? I searched all over the internet and can't figure out what these information match to. I think it should be before DMD64 but when i tried applying the DR92 to DMD64 update. It says siganiture failure too. So this means it's even before DR92. But it is 1.6 firmware as reported in the system..
Can anyone help? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Turn the phone off, and then turn on by holding Volume down key and power and then write here what are phone specs

Thanks for the help! Though I am surprised to see it's 32A. shouldn't all tmobile products be 32B?
not necessarily if its the black mytouch then its a 32A idk y lol i have white one n its a 32B (this is just my opinion )
Well they imported google branded htc magics both 32a and 32b, so i dont know if you can do OTA update,but you can root phone and install rooted OTA with cm ported kernel for 32a
Is rooting the only way available? Since it's not my phone, I don't really want messing it up.. thanks.

As i said idk, I think it is because Tmobile only did update 32b magic and dream. You can mess up the phone cuz you just cant if you do all things right.
go to www.theunlockr.com adn find in how to's section phone and you have 1 click root.then install recovery and after that install ROM. If you do have probs PM me.
Hi I have a htc mytouch 3g got it off ebay.
It is stuck on no sim screen putting a t mobile sim card dose nt fix it.
I tryed 3 .. dose it have a bad esm?
I can't root it stuck on no sim screen when i start it up.

Depends on your SPL. Post all your fastboot info. You may have to borrow a phone that runs Android to make a goldcard with, but yes you can still root without getting into the stock ROM.

I have rooted this phone and it took me 5 minutes tops, but i cant install rom manager onto my phone therefore in recovery mode i only have four options. Now I have nbeen trying for 2 days and cant get the job done. Please someone give me a hand.

Yes, I have been searching for 2 days, if only I could find a way to install rom manager via market.

Did you downgrade android version in the process of rooting? Can you tell us more info about the actual firmware of your device?
