Switching nand bulids - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi im curently on MIUI 1.4.1 nand i had it for a while, its a good rom but i got bored an now i want to try new rom, i switch roms almost every week i Love trying new bulids
my question is if i do a MIUI nandroid backup from CWR,can i restore it on a gignerbread sense rom (Frankinstine's 2.3.3 rom )

Hi,
A NANDROID BACKUP is a complete backup of the entire system you are running i.e. MIUI.
If you install a new ROM i.e. Gingerbread and don't like it ,you can restore your MIUI system exactly how it was.
If on the other hand you want to save the settings and data, you should use something like Titanium Backup .However ,this might not work on all ROMS

So i will lose my data with nandroid?

There can be some problems. But it may work.
Do a backup with Titanium just in case and then try with nandroid.

Problem is i dont have wifi to download titanium

I find the only problem with using SPB Backup is that the new ROM, with different apps cooked in, tends to be restored to like the old ROM, you loose those new apps and the old apps don't work because they're missing key components...
It is possible but not always advisable for the reason given above. Also look at Sprite Backup.

SMS & MMS Backup when flashing ?

Hello.
One question from noob.
How can I backup and restore my SMS & MMS messages when flashing ROMS.
I have been looking into this, but haven't found a proper way.
I'm now soon going to change to Clockwork Recovery ROM'sbut I would really like to be able to restore my SMS/MMS.
Can someone help me ??
Can someone also recommend a ROM, a daily use ROM.
To backup SMS etc use this free app.
I am using this Desire HD based Sense Rom and can't fault it. Each ROM choice is a matter of personal taste though.

Go get "sms backup" app from market, before you make the switch.
edit:
I am using the same build as nobnut, I can vauch for it too!
Stable, auto backup everything on sd car, gps, wifi, 3G - everything works.
Nice HTC Sense themes and you can use Go Launcher to make it clean Android look, so you have lots of options.

[Q] Changing MiniCM 2.2.1 to Gingerbread 2.3.3

Hi..
Right now I have a MiniCM RC2 flashed in my Shakira. I want to try the newest xCyanogen Gingerbread v1 ROM. My question is if I want to change current ROM, should I just keep all of my installed application on SD Card before flashing into new ROM or should I backup it with Titanium Backup first then uninstall it or move it to phone before backing up current ROM and flashing the new ROM?
Thank you

You can use titanium backup.. but the one I read, xCyanogen Gingerbread from owain still some issues in Rooted apps like Titanium Backup.. You'll get some troubles on restoring the apps later.. But if u keep the apps installed in SD Card, then you'll not be able to see the previous apps..
My suggest, just install the apps manually when you already use the xCyanogen Gingerbread.. Btw, xCyanogen Gingerbread now is now fixed to v2.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044876

u can also just use astro file manager to back up most of your apps . tht way wont have to download them again. Its just more convenient this way.
Use the SE backup and restore app for keeping all your settings and app list. Its a simple app unlike titanium . It can act as plan B

Argen2Stone or freezing Blur manually ???

Dear All
I recently bought the MM2, I wonder if I should install the Argen2Stone v1.9 ROM or manually freeze the blur apps according to the below list? My goal is to have the phone run as fast as possible. Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10800001&postcount=26
I went with Argen2Stone and I don't regret.. it's quite fast, looks better, battery lasts more, etc. Can't wait for 2.0
I just froze everything I do not need and use Launcher Pro Plus and the phone is super speedy.
what packages did you freeze? and did you titanium backup to freeze them?
thanks

I did use Titanium Backup and the list of freezable apps is in the forums, you would need to search for it.

You can find the answer in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855514
I just try to freeze the app on the list and replace the HK/Taiwan 2.2 version into UK 2.2.2, then I got a speedy MS2
After using an earlier version of Argen2Stone and getting issues, I went back to stock ROM and froze all the useless apps with Titanium Backup Pro.
Works fine in stock setup (I'm much happier with the phone in stock setup now) and the battery is reasonable.
Hopefully, one day, if the bootloader is unlocked, we'll get CM7 or sth like that

[Q] MIUI questions

Hey,
i´ve tried some MIUI roms and i really like their style.. but i wish there were not "iphone-style" app drawer (all apps on pages) but rather a "normal" app drawer like in adw launcher/launcher pro (one button to "join" all apps in a vertical menu).
is there a way (mod/app) to get such a "button"?
also is there an icon-set with "normal" (stock) icons?
and whats about the battery drain... my installed rom drained about 100-200 in standby without WLAN/GPS. that shouldnt be normal, or?
hope you can help me and sry for noob questions
greedings
Just install adw or launcher pro or go launcher... Your applications will be in a drawer... These home replacement applications do have theme of their own... Some are free in the market... As for battery drain... Idk I always carry a spare battery... if I'm not on the net... My phone last the whole day
HTC HD2 Miui 1.7.8

try patensa's sense-like miui.it uses vertical app drawer.
but if im using a home-replacement app the miui theme will not work anymore or? :/
then i´ll take a look at patensas sense like miui. thanks.
if this isnt like my wish - i stay at hyperdroid :/
thank you guys
greedings
edit:
the suggest rom looks really great. (this)
do you know if im able to change the look of the dock-bar ? (i´ll try it myself but maybe i get some quick answer ^^)
edit II:
another, general, question.
if i did a full backup of my hyperdroid, am i able to restore data partition to restore my settings and app data?
(restoring sd-ext worked)?
Miui theme still work. Hyperdroid is also a great rom
HTC HD2 Miui 1.7.8
[email protected]
i installed miui rom. and its rly nice.
batterydrain in standby: 5mA !!! (on hyperdroid i got 15-64mA).
now im mixing up the standard apps from hyperdroid and miui and customize the dock icons a bit and et voila - i got a hyperdroid MIUI
Not to destroy your joy but miui is generally slower than CM7 based builds
mh drain gets higher .. ^^
slower? quadrant score is about the same as hyperdroid cm7 ^^
now flashing my mixed version
maybe is it possible to copy the settings.apk from miui build to the hyperdroid rom i really like that settings layout oô
edit:
ok it dosnt work :/ so i try to install it step by step
edit ii:
ok i stay at hyperdroid :x XD
edit iii:
trying modify miui again now
ok i found some nice solution for my "app launcher" problem.
using the default home launcher with this app now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
seems really great
other question..
i´ve got a full nandroid backup of my CM7 hyperdroid rom (cwm recovery backup) am i able to restore sd-ext AND data partition to
get my "old" apps with their settings etc back?
ok it didnt work with restoring data
whats about hiding apps... ?
boyppc-shiftpda MIUI V12
Hi there
i need to ask a question with regards to the boyppc-shiftpda MIUI V12 update if any one is using it is the ASD2+ working for you am still getting the internal memory of the device even when i used the DATA2SD folder supplied by BoyPPC but still it is not working unlike the DHD Rom by BoyPPC it is working using the DATA2SD folder on root .
i really like MIUI the themes are amazing it is like using a new phon every day but also i need the space for my applications and games so unfortunately i had to stick to the DHD rom hoping to get a solution to make the MIUI use my 2GB EXT3 partition i have on my SD
awaiting your reply

You can try advanced restore in CWM to try to restore your settings and apps. The problem is that you changed from a CM7 build to MIUI, so some apps will force close. You can try to reinstall them and reset the data.
Best to do is to backup the miui ROM too, try to restore the data from the cm7 build, and if it goes wrong, restore the miui build. (Use advanced restore to restore only certain parts of the backup)
just use titanium backup to restore your apps. works great for me even when switching between cm and miui.
and as already said just use another launcher if you don't like the iphone style. i use golauncher and you still have the different lockscreens your themed taskbar, miui settings and every other advantages of a miui build. it has also an implemented feature to hide apps that you don't want in your app drawer
and miui is not slower than a cm build but the battery drain is much lower for me.
mh im back on cm7 now :/ but im switching between these roms
the only "bad" thing at miui is, that you´re not able to hide apps at homescreens
(i know thats iphone-typical... but i dont have an iphone ).
so there should be a way to hide icons/apps - and NOT with folders.. ^^
i just want ONE page with some apps and clock widget... now ~5 pages with apps or
messed up folders with non used apps :/
the alternative app drawer rocks - using it with cm7 also now
the restore in cwm with sd-ext and data dont work - only able to restore sd-ext (dont have any FC).
so i´ll just w8 maybe there will be sometimes a option to hide apps :/
Best way is to put all your apps in a folder called apps or have a few folders called things like social, news, and games
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
yeah i know but i dont really like such a dirty solution there should be a better way possible ^^
i tried to put all my apps (arround 50-60 (with rom standard apps)) into a folder.. if i opened it, it seems to be really lagful.. so im just waiting for some other way.. ^^
