The closest thing you're going to get to an epic on the verizon network is the fascinate. It's not as good though (no front facing camera, physical keyboard, or led notifications (even though they have BLN mod))
I convinced my girlfriend to buy one.

This.
Although, I'm not certain that we can discuss the specifics.
Suffice it to say that it would involve obtaining a donor device, altering MEID numbers and doing some 'programming' w/ a tool such as CDMA workshop (paid version) to get data working. Beyond these 'cliff notes'.. I'm not at liberty to discuss this.. (I had a samsung moment on Boost CDMA for a while and also put an HTC hero on Boost CDMA for my wife ... neither device was allowed or possible to activate w/ conventional methods LOL)
Just sayin'
And just to be clear you wouldn't have any flavor of 4G...

If I got a evo with a bad esn on the sprint network would I be able to flash it over on Verizon? Just a question brother in law has sprint and put a claim that he lost his evo (cracked screen) just wondering or if he gives it to me just use it as a developers phone?

You could flash it to cricket, but not to verizon.
No cricket here in swfl lol just metro

Curious - what would keep you from flashing it to Verizon?
Idk anyone have any idea

ESN... unless you know someone well inside verizon, they wont allow you to activate the phone on their network (kind of the same thing why you cannot activate a vzw phone over sprint)
Is it possible? I looked around a bit but am not really sure...
Not even remotely.
Basically the sprint and verizon phones use a radio technology called CDMA while at&t and t-mobile phones use GSM. It would equate to using diesel fuel in your gas car or vice versa. Incompatible technology.

I see...thanks for the help, makes more sense now =-]
nevermind 4g, but you would never have 3g, 1x, or phone calls. Nothing you could do.
Isn't the desire on att..

Wouldn't God smite you for taking a Sprint phone and putting it on AT&T even if it were technically feasible? AT&T is the devil.

Now what is this attic you speak of? Is it also on AT&T?

Is it possible to flash the sprint nexus 4g to Verizon? If so, how?
Thanks
The short and simple answer is no. If you want the long detailed version look around xda as this gets asked a lot in other cdma phone sections...
Sent on the go from my android device using Tapatalk
Oh ok thanks. I figured it could be possible since the verizon iPhone was able to flash to sprint. I guess the nexus is different or something.
i would imagine using tools there available online you could in theory get it going on verizon and maybe even get 3g but 4g wouldnt work for sure

When did this happen? You might be mistaken

I have a verizon prl flashed. It allows my nexus to roam on the verizon network at all times. It increased my dl speeds from 300k to 2mb per second.
You still need sprint service though.

Could you post how you did that? I would like increased 3G speed and coverage. 4G is fine in coverage areas for me. 3.5-5 down avg

Nope..it's highly possible ..check YouTube and eBay. People even got step by step and so on. So I know it's possible.
I was hoping to do the same thing. Technically it seems like the Sprint ones should be possible.
I poked around the forums trying to find a general answer why this wasn't possible but didn't find any real concrete answer. Can anyone explain why it's not possible or point me to a post that does?
Thanks
Possible, yes. Legal? Not so much.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The fact that its illegal is why your not going to find a how-to on xda.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Why would it be illegal?
Root your phone and then download roam control.

I dont think you understand what the OP is trying to do. He doesn't want to roam on Verizon, he wants to get a Verizon plan and activate his phone on Verizon. That requires falsifying your IMEI and no you cant do that with an app from the market.

Google is your friend, OP.
You clearly like android, so seek and you shall find

Removed post.
The hardest part would be getting VZW to add the devices IMEI into their database, impossible, no, but very difficult.

That's cool except this thread has nothing to do with gsm carriers. You wont understand how cdma works. Only our brothers in japan and korea understand the headaches and abilities

Hey Guys,
Great deal on Ebay; there's droid incredibles that are refurbished (in B+ condition, I assume that it means near perfect but still a little handled)
for $105. Not a bad price for a phone.

The ebay description claims that it is locked to verizon,
I have never owned an CDMA phone so I don't know if XDA has ways to make it unlocked for any CDMA carrier
you can get it on other CDMA carriers (Cricket, Boost) pretty easily using EPST, but you cannot get it on any GSM carriers.

Yeah, I believe you can update it.
I think even the oldest android phone, the g1, can be updated to 2.3, so I don't think you have to worry about anything

Yeah, its definitely not a super new phone.
This is more of an "if you need a backup or international travel", and less of "hot of the press" deal
Well thats true i forgot about the global capabilities

If this was gsm id buy one.
I have T-Mobile service. I had hoped to be able to flash a recovery and then a T-Mobile ROM but so far it looks like this isn't possible. Or is it?
Nope. I don't think it will work.
Sprint is cdma and tmobile is gsm.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Sprint's Galaxy S4 has T-Mobile's HSPA+ GSM bands so technically it COULD work, only problem is the sim slot is locked to international providers only so until someone finds away to unlock it, no go.

I bought a sprint s4, and have att service which I prefer.. I also have boost service which is what I'm using on it now, until I sort out the blocked domestic gsm carriers issue..
Why buy sprint s4 when I want it on att? Right deal right time..

Well, each to his/her own, seems like it would be easier just to buy a model that can be used. That's just my opinion though.

Three major problems with this scheme:
1. Domestic GSM lock. Who known when or if this will ever be worked around.
2. Lack of LTE support for TMO (or AT&T) LTE.
3. Lack of support for AWS HSPA while TMO's HSPA 1900 deployment is still poor in many areas.

Well I have 12 devices, and no contracts.. So I pay full price for devices.. And most I just develop on..

If I were more of a developer then I would probably buy devices with bad esn just to mess around with.
