Hi all,
I'm using cm_legend_full-37 ROM. Main reason why i root my phone in small internal memory in phone after 20-30 app installed. I having a problem with setting up external partitions. I have make external partitions in recovery mode, but my CM7 doesn't recognize the external partition.
Can I use app2sd with S-ON, or is it a problem in S-ON? I can't put my phone in S-OFF with HBOOT 1.01 or is a possible with downgrade solution to HBOOT 0.43?
Phone:
LEGEND PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.01.0000
MICROP-0816
TOUCH PANEL-SYN07_0103
RADIO-7.05.35.26L
When i try to use pass LINK2SD i get next error msg:
"Mount script cannot be created.
:cannot create /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
not enough memory"
Is it a problem in wrong partitions making procedure?
Thank you for you're support !
Hi,
1. Why don't you use the App2SD method implemented in the ROM? (in settings->applications, click an app and click "move to sdcard")
2. You got the error ".. out of memory" because system is RO in S-OFF.
It's not possible to downgrade HBOOT 1+, but you can mount system as RW in recovery mode using adb commands (adb remount, adb shell, adb su and then you're free to go)

I just got my HTC hero rom 2.73.405.5 rooted with recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.3.1.img (I don't flash with any other custom ROM), and now i'm get stuck with APP2SD. I assumed it shouldn't be that complicated.
Here's what I've done (using a 2GB sdcard)
- Start in recovery mode (press Home + Power)
- Partition sdcard > Partition SD (swap=32MB, ext2=512MB, Fat32=remainder)
- back to recovery, Other > Move apps+dalv to SD
In adb use parted > print command, i can see the card is partitioned correctly. But using busybox bf -h command, i don't see the /system/sd partition. apps i installed before trying that are gone.
Did i do anything wrong?
you have to have a rom with Apps2sd enabled. The official hero roms don't have this functionality.

swap should be at the back of the disk fat at the front.
i used this to partition: http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
Thank you for reply.
@DMzda,
Does that mean I have to replace the whole Android OS or just some small patched to the ROM? Could you give me a link for detail or download?
I'm new to this and I don't really want to make big change, further I like HTC Sense pretty well.
@Piercy0812
From what I can tell the disk format is correct, although the selection in Recovery is reverse, it's shown in the parted > print as Partition 1 Fat32, Partition 2 ext2 ....
just pick the right ROM for your HERO (GSM or CDMA) and install it to your phone. It is easy to do.
There are custom ROMs that dont change much on your stock Hero. Make sure you get one with App2sd in the package.
side quesiton:
I have Modaco 2.2 and Apps2SD installed.
How do you check to see if it is functioning properly?
I have a widget that tells me how much memory on SD is used:
96 mb used out of 169mb.
Does anyone know where a video of mounting you SD card will be be??
Or can anuone tell me how to mount my SD Card
Mount it howso? Because you can connect it to the computer, and then an option to mount it will pop up on the phone. Or you can do this (probably what you want):
adb remount
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount auto /sdcard
That will mount your sdcard in readable/writable mode.

or you can just install mountusb from market.
well i want to mount it. so i can but the sdk android on my phone and root it.
I dont know which way that is. but how do i do it that way??
Well, the AndroidSDK doesn't actually go on the phone itself. If all you want is just to root the phone, I'd suggest using this (VERY easy): http://link.geekfor.me/fresh105
Download that, and then run it. There is a function in the program that will automatically root your phone for you, all you have to do is click a few buttons.
will it put nandroid on my sd card where i can put it onto my computer and does it put on backup
ok but if i use the fresh kitchen can i use DamageControl v2.07.2.
DamageControl v2.07.2 is Android 2.1
Fresh Kitchen will install a custom recovery when it roots your phone. The custom recovery will allow you to use nandroid, which will put backups of your phone on your sdcard in a folder labeled "nandroid". Once you root, you can install any ROM you want on your phone, even if it is Android 2.1.
hi can i have some help?
stuck on the adb push part, cmd window says failed to copy ____ to _____ read-only file system.
any idea how to fix this?
(from step by step rooting guide for 9020a)
I assume you mean the "adb push su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip /sdcard/su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip" part. Maybe you forgot the /sdcard at the beginning, otherwise no need to worry about adb anyway. Just copy that file over to the sdcard by any means you like (adb, mount usb storage, etc).
However, i would be using a newer su zip from the official web page, just to save hassle if you are using ICS. Guaranteed to work
If you have already flashed the recovery... easiest way is just to boot into recovery then mount the USB storage and copy it that way. Then unmount and flash the zip while still in recovery.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
thanks for the help!
sorry to ask another question (first time rooting), but I can't find any sdcard folder after i go into usb mass storage?
and the new su zip will work on 2.3.6? (planning on using cm9)
New su works on 2.3.6 fine. Mount USB storage is the sdcard partition, so anywhere in there.
Hi
Nexus 7 is rooted and trying to update ROM...Stuck on Google logo screen at start-up..
Can get into cwm recovery.
Trying to put rom in storage so I can flash it.
In the mounts and storage menu when i select mount /sdcard...Nothing happens.
When i select mount /system...the name changes to unmount /system
I just need to access the storage so i can flash my rom
I cannot see the flash storage on my computer when I select mount /sdcard or /system
So I tried just pushing the rom from adb.
#adb devices
#adb mount /sdcard (command does not work)
#adb mount /system (command does not work)
#adb push SmoothROM-v4.1.zip /sdcard/SmoothROM-v4.1.zip (just get back " _ " No transfer rates or anything)
Please help me flash this ROM
Thank You
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok I fixed it...I pushed the rom using qtadb....with that software i could see the filestructure...i pushed the file to /data/media (i think)...and i could find the zip from clockwork...rom just installed...works great...
Please can some clarify how the storage works in nexus 7? Where is the sdcard files? is it stored in /data/media ?
why did the adb mount command did not work?
Adb push (file name) /mnt/sdcard/(final directory of your choice)
Shouldn't need to mount anything
*Redmi 7a MokeeOS PIE built in root*
Hi, I was able to root the ROM with mokee add-on su, but root apps give me error "unable to mount system R/W"
So I remounted using ADB:
>ADB ROOT
>ADB REMOUNT
It worked successfully as R/W. But it doesn't last as default. It automatically comes back to RO
.
.
*IN SHORT*
I want a way to mount system read/write permanently without worrying if it will automatically be set back READ ONLY
Any help I'd appreciate it
I tried fixing SELinux, didn't work.
I have the same problem, in stock is also like this, you can not move apps to the system partition because it can not mount as writable.

You can mount it with debugging as mentioned:
>ADB ROOT
>ADB REMOUNT
But the problem is, it's only temporarily
