Mine is a constant white regardless of what the battery % is. The manual says its supposed to change colors. What colors are your charging indicators while the unit is off?

Mine turns green.
Sent From My Evo
White when charging and turns green when battery is full.
White and then green.
sigh...........
is there an app that will led me test the LED to make sure it CAN change colors?
Never seen any color but white on mine.
i'll drain the battery today and see if it turns red under 15% like it's supposed to
All I've noticed is white & green (when charged)
Can confirm on mine it's been white then green.
For those that haven't had the answer before, this only happens when the unit is powered off. Otherwise there is no indicator light.
I only see the green light when is full charge and the Xoom is Off.
Mine was red when I got it.. then stayed at white for about 5 hours.. then went to green. Never seen the led on since.
returned mine and got another one due to an HDMI issue....charging now. It's white atm.
Edit - yup, this one just stays white too. What the **** motorola.
Bought it, was at 80%. Used it till it died. It was red, than white, now green while charging it off.

Mines just white when charging and off. Other that that nothing. But you charge this thing like every 2 days. What's the big deal with a charging LED?
i only seen white and now nothing....
Enable LED while on
easy fix here guys. Your LED will show while the device is charging and powered on. Use kitchen to take apart boot.img. Go into init.stingray.rc. Find this block
Code:
# Power Management Settings
#write /sys/devices/platform/ohci.0/usb2/2-3/power/level auto
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq 216000
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq 1000000
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor interactive
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq 216000
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq 1000000
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor interactive
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/interactive/go_maxspeed_load 80
# Wakelock debug
write /sys/module/wakelock/parameters/debug_mask 7
# No need to continuously scan w1 bus
write /sys/devices/w1\ bus\ master/w1_master_search 1
# Disable charging LED
write /sys/class/gpio/gpio168/value 1
Notice the last couple lines
Code:
# Disable charging LED
write /sys/class/gpio/gpio168/value 1
Change the 1 to 0
Code:
# Disable charging LED
write /sys/class/gpio/gpio168/value 0
Rebuild boot.img using kitchen. Flash and win.
BTW, this will be included in my next kernel as soon as we work out a few minor issues.
Yeah someone on irc was telling me about that, thanks. The issue me and a couple other people are having though is that we are only getting the white light, not the red and green at different levels.
maybe you got a white only LED.. lol
White charging, green on full charge. Xoom off on both. The 3g one I had showed red when charging though.
the SD card enabling kernel makes my LED turn green at full, at least while it's on. Still no red.

I know my mda has a red - orange - green (bi)LED and a blue LED.
Yesterday my battery was very low, but i couldn't charge it because i wasn't home. I thought that it wouldn't be a problem, i 've backups at home, etc, so i didn't worry... When i was back home i tried to charge it, but when a do so, a red light shows up and after a while it changes to blue.
Does anyone know what's wrong or at least know what the different colours mean?
tested the battery -> full
tested my battery in another phone.. was completely full, so the charging is not a problem, but i'm afraid my phone is dead...
My battery says 100%, then I turned it off and plugged it back in and the indicator was still white. Huh?

The anorexic manual says Green is 95% or higher. Maybe the indicator had a margin of error or somehow used up 5% of its power cycling (which would be unfortunate)?

I'm not sure of the level that Motorola uses, but with Cyanogenmod 7 on my Droid Incredible the charging light turns green at 90%. Maybe this is a standard Android value???
I seem to be flying through my battery, but I HAVE been doing a ton of stuff. Even playing games via bluetooth and hdmi on my big tv... I'll leave it off and plugged in for an hour and thirty minutes and see if the indicator changes color. Still white at the moment.
EDIT - At full, 100% charge (tells me so when it's on), my LED is White. Someone please verify their LED colors for me...
During charge mine is white/blue. When it reaches 95ish percent it turns green.
Regardless of when the charge indicator turns white, green, etc like many other mobile devices the battery gauge may not be all that accurate. When the battery gets to a certain point, charging stops and discharging begins again. After a discharging for a while, charging may begin again. The amount of charge shown may depend on where you catch it in the cycle. Unplugging it after it becomes green and then plugging it in again causes a "bump charge". This is fairly common behavior and hardly exclusive to the xoom.
If you want to really know what is going on, I suggest using this free android utility / widget...

is yours the 3g or wifi xoom?
I've now found that I'm getting between 10-12 hours of heavy usage, probably. I was playing games and surfing and playing music for 6 hours last night and I wound up at 50%. So I guess I can ignore the LED thing, I guess. It turns red when the inner camera is on.
I just got the Huawei IDEOS X5. Once the battery ran low, I plugged it to the charger. The problem is that the Led Status Indicator (above the screen on the front of the phone) doesn't become orange (it is green). According to the instructions this Led should be orange while the charge is in progress, and become green once the phone is fully charged. This behavior does not follow the info described in the manual of the phone.
Has anyone had the same problem? Do you know why this is happening? Should I return the phone back to the seller?
Thanks
khtc
Led burns green, when the battery is above 90% or so. Under that should be orange. Sometimes when you plug in the charger, it takes time even to start charging (Led is green then). I'd say try to observe more
I thought the same when I first start charging my device, but when the device was fully charged I realized that the led(which seems to me green) wasn't.
The orange color of the led it's not so orange(like was on other devices) but is more close to green(again the green on other devices). On ideos the the green led it's not so light and yellowish, it's more deep like trees green.
And what sanpsa says happens also after 90%
Thank you guys. You were 100% right both!
Dunno, whether it depends of soft or not, but when battery below 15% (or 10%) LED should be red. For mine device it's so.

Thats true...
I notice that the led light never turns on until its blinking orange. Is that a known issue?

Mine goes blinking orange to solid orange, and then eventually green.
the LED only turns on when charging and changes from orange to green when it's charged 100%. It flashes orange when the dock battery is below 15%, whether or not it's plugged in. (or is it 10%?) The white LED on top is for Caps Lock.

Ya its 10% I was just hoping the side led would always be on so I can get a rough estimate of the charge during school

So my phone is doing quite a weird thing. Let me go from the start.
I was waiting to finish a TV Show to check my voicemail, but every minute or so my phone would buzz, but wouldn't show any notifications. So when the show finished, I went to check the voicemail, but the phone was out of batteries. No problem, it was at 4 percent last time I looked, it must have just gone through that last bit of battery quick, maybe it had to do with the weird vibrating. So I plugged it in and went to the bathroom.
When I came back, it was charging with the red LED on iirc. I pressed the power button and the big battery icon came up and showed it was charging, so I held down the power button to turn it on and went to the kitchen while it booted up. When I came back though, it wasn't booted up, and the red LED was flashing.
This is the weird part though. All those red LED of death threads say the LED was flashing on and off, red to black. Mine is flashing red to red. Like a bright red to a slightly dimmer red. If I hold down the power button for a while, it starts flashing on and off red, but faster than I've seen it before, like when the battery gets completely discharged.
Does anyone know what is going on?
TL;DR: My phone is flashing a bright red to dim red LED while it's plugged in, instead of the normal on-off red led. It won't turn on. Help!!
How long have you had it charging? And is it charging though a wall charger or usb?
If it's been over two hours, have you tried turning the phone on when unplugged?

Yeah, eventually after a whole bunch of different combinations I was able to turn the phone on and get it charged up ok. Thanks!
