Gingervillain: Changing LED color - G2 and Desire Z General

Currently running Gingervillain 1.5.
Is there a way to change LED notification color for missed calls, text...etc?
I looked at Gingervillain settings -> interface -> indicator color.
But changing that color doesn't changing anything. LED color is still showing as green when I get text messages and missed calls.

No way to change the color. Only green or amber.

Yeah, only green/amber/red for htc... -_-

is there even a way to control the LED for the desire z (frequency and/or color) under any ROM or using any application?

Well, as it's been mentioned, it's limited to green/amber because of the hardware.
However, LED Me Know (from the market) might get you the flexibility that you're looking for.

[Q] Notification LED Colors

Hey guys, is there a way to do color notifications for different things on the HD2. Like my old G1, or like my NexusOne.
Is there an app that will let me set certain colors on the HD2s notification LED. Blue for text, green for email. Something like missed call App. I'd love to have certain colors on this HD2. I did a search without any luck. I only searched HTC Leo area.
The app Blinker do that. Your hd2 not. Only red and green
The led on the hd2 only supports red, green, and Orange.

It's actually a hardware limit.. really. That is sad. And we are sure. Why would the G1 have it and the HD2 not. Just seems odd.
Ill use the 3 it has then. Lol. Thanks guys

Notif blue led on froyo

So i have been waiting forever to get blue led or any other colors to use with missed calls or sms. sms pop up (app) or missed call (app) will now change your led to only blue. no other color works that i tried but atleast its one more.
Handcent will make any color but red flash the led blue, I don't think it would do anything but red before
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
emails are red...(gmail & vm)
Handcent only works for red and blue (I have it set to red), My Nimbuzz IM is blue, and my Kik is a purpleish color but u have to set it on green from the notifications setting so it can work.. I'm currently trying to get a new color for my YouMail app...
Omg another thread about this.
I thought magenta worked?

The epic only has a red and blue led...no green. So the only colors your going to get will be...
wait for it...red...and....blue
And as stated above, magenta should work since red and blue makes magenta...i couldn't get that to work in 2.1, I'll have to try it now that I'm on froyo.

As far as I know, there's only red, blue and violet (red and blue) led colors. Too bad they didn't put a green one in there. That way you could make a hell of a lot more color combinations with rgb.
The only time I've seen violet is when the phone is charged and the led is blue. Then someone sent you an email or text. With the screen off, unplug the cable and for a brief moment the led is violet.
Ive noticed that on froyo, i get red for email and texts, blue for twitter and purple for im apps

I see a lot of people talking about no green this and no green that. Please point out where I said there's green?.. All I said was to get my Kik messaging app to flash magenta I have to select the green option. But yes those three colors is all I get too....
handscent doesn't do a damn thing with the LED for my epic It doesnt flash, it doesnt even come on when I get a message

Thats strange. I didn't try to change any of my LED stuff like I did on my old mytouch and it still gives me the blinking LED

The main reason is to explain why we are limited to only those three colors. to get more than a few colors, we must have an RGB(red green blue) LED, (which the Epic does not)without one of those, our color options are drastically limited.
Although that is good to know about Kik if I ever try it out.
the only way you will see our led is with the screen off for missed alerts. so if you are using an app and it has a test notif option you push that then turn the screen off and you will see the led

[Q] Notification Light

Is it possible to, like the small little notification led, make the smartphone's buttons (home, search, back and options(?)) (or even just one button, if the respective drivers allow it) stay on when there's a pending notification?
I saw this on a friend's LG 2X and he told me that was a customization made by someone in a custom ROM, so that wasn't a stock feature.
I think this will be, if it's doable, an awesome extra feature since the led is too much tiny to capt our attention to the pending notification and I imagine it's not very hard to implement.
Thanks in advance.
Well I am gonna point out that the small notification led we have is really cool RGB led. So you can have different colours depending on what it's going to notify about. Sad thing is as you stated it's pretty small and not visible at some points.
I would say the thing you wish for is up to the ones who customize roms. Ask them, head over to the development section.
Right. I'll post this in Dev section.
As long as we're talking about notification led, can someone tell me where to find full a description of light colors and meanings? The manual on the Huaweis own site isn't full/complete, 'coz it doesn't mention a blue color. I once got the led to flash blue, when Watchdog Lite "got a wiff" of an app that misbehaved and notified me about it. And it wasn't a one time event, since it did it with every Watchdog notification.

if the application can manage the led then you could see every possible colour if it is programmed for it...
for example through the handcent sms you can put whatever colour you want for the notification the programm handles...
so maybe with watchdog you can try it too...
they don't have special meanings the colours and they turn on to the colour they are programmed to from the company...
Is there a good app to set notification light color? Besides Light Flow (which changes the color but only blinks once or stays always on) or Blink (which asks for an internet access I don't want to grant due the usability settings, and thus haven't even tried)? Any way to change 'em manually?

[LED] Available colors

Well playing with the phone, if you select this 'option' in the app, this is the color that was actually displayed when tested:
format> color selected to display as : color shown on device
Blue > red
Green > 'fuchsia' ; some form of puple/blue. color can be argued
Red > Green/Yellow; lime-ish color
Yellow > 'white' ;a hybrid od the green, blue, and purple
Magenta > Green/Yellow, leaning slightly more green
Cyan > 'fuchsia' as above
Nothing scientific done, tested using go sms; just displaying for general usage / preference. Though it seems if you do anything to make a 'custom' color, it generally defaults to one of the above colors.
+1 GoSMS FTW! This was a big help though!
I wish there was an app like "super color LED" that would change the color of your LED based on if there was a missed call, missed text, etc...diff color for each kind

It works, but it 'works' like the change I listed in the OP; they color you choose isn't always the one displayed, but with this, you can change the color for other notifications. Also, it made my charging LED green..not okay. lol
Whew, thought I was color blind!

What are the correct LED notification colours?

So far, each notification has been white but looking closely, it looks a muffled with tinges of red and blue in there.
How should it be?
It is rgb so it should be an array of colors. I know there are apps like light flow I believe that allow you to change the color. Gosms pro for example already allows me to change color
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
All the default notification lights are white as far as I am concerned. The colour tinges is from there actually being 3 coloured LEDs being on at the same time to mix the colours into white. But, yes, if you want to customise it use Light Flow.

Ok so can anyone else let me know if they get any other colour from gmail?
Tried light flow and the test mode flickered green (but no other colours) so it seems it is working at least.

I have red for gmail... I am wondering if this is related to the fact that I have restored some data with titanium backup...
Hmm. Strange. I notice I am not always getting notifications at all, neither LED or tone.
