Since I can't post in the right forum due to my lack of post here it goes.
I'm using Typhoon 2.9.3 clk version and for some reason wifi tethering doesn't work right. Setup wifi tethering using wireless controls and hotspot, using wpa2 also tried open security. My computer connected fine and obtained IP address but when I try to go on the internet the browser just hangs and not go to Google or any page. Is anyone experiencing this or got it resovle I've been experiencing this since switching to clk from magldr.

Nevermind switched back to magldr and all is good now just too bad really love the reboot to recovery feature

[Q] Tethering & Portable Hotspot

I currently running darkstone HD2Froyo v2.1 kernel 2.6.32.9 on my HTC HD2. I have tried activating the portable wi-fi hotspot on my phone but I get an error message. However, I have been able to enable the USB tethering on my Windows 7 64bit system, but its requesting a network password to enable internet access.
Does anyone know if portable wi-fi hotspot can be enabled with this android build and what password to use to enable the USB tethering?
Thanks in advance.
Similar problem
I am not sure what build I have on, been running it for a week. But I experienced a similar problem when i tried setting up a mobile hotspot this morning.
If you go into portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings > Advanced you can change the channel. Mine doesn't work at all when it is set to Auto. If I change the channel then the hotspot begins and i can detect it using my iPad. But then my phone restarts.
I haven't had much time to play with it as I am at work. But I will play around some more tonight. Still it might be worth changing the channel and seeing if it works or does the same thing as me
Good luck
Hi on the darkstone website it says:
Whats not working:
- Wifi Tethering
But also says:
Whats working:
........(amongst other things ) ......
- USB Tethering
Sure enough if I try wifi tethering it just reboots the phone, however like you I am having no luck with USB tethering it simply just dosen't connect , I am having to tether via WINMO as I write this , I did try some software off the market , but it requires a 'rooted' android phone and I am not sure wether android on an HD2 is or can be made to be rooted , anyway , anyone successfully got usb tethering working its a pain to reboot phone when I need the internet

[Q] Wifi problem on Nexus-build

I've been using Android on HD2 for awhile but always wonder what cause this.
My home wifi is normal WEP encryption with no proxy.
My office has 2 AP first one is PEAP/MSCHAPV2 (802.1x) with transparent proxy, and second one is Open network (web-based authenication)
When I use Desire-based build or those with Sense build. Wifi is working just fine in all apps (browser/market/etc,...) and both home & office.
But when I use Nexus-based build, I can't use wifi at my office.
It can connected, get IP address from DHCP but no data transfer at all.
But when I try wifi at my home, it working just fine.
Anyone experience this?
Are there any solutions to this?
I'm using phireMOD CM6 1.4, MattcEvo 1.8, Nexus FRG33, various Mdeejay build
HD2 T8585, Radio 2.15.50.14, Cloudyfa 1.7C3

[Q] Working Barnacle wifi tether?

I was just wondering if there is a working wifi tether for the htc hd2 running android OS. Im currently using mattc's froyo 1.8 w/sense and I installed barnacle and it connects, however there is no network access/internet access and it doesnt show me connected to my laptop from my hd2. Just wondering if anyone here knows how to get it up and working
I have the same problems with my HD2 configuration (look at signature).
Connection working but no internet access.
Same problem here no internet
most of the newer builds have native tethering working fine, might be something to look into.

[Q] Issue with wifi hotspots

I've tried a few SD android roms on my HTC HD2. I'm currently using Rafdroid and and like this one but it also has the same wifi issue.
The problem that I keep on encountering is I can access internet, market using the home wifi connection, but when I find a wifi hotspot eg. McDonalds it opens and connects to the wifi but I can't browse or install apps from Market.
Can someone please help me? Confused as to why no problems on home wifi but issues at wifi hotspot.
Thanks

[Q] Is there a tethering expert around?

I just took the plunge in to sd android on my TMOUSA HTC HD2.
I am using AmeriCanAndroid all stock HD2.
Previously I was able to tether to a vista laptop with wm6.5 fine. I am trying to use the wifi tether on the the android side now.
My goal is to tether to a unrooted Acer A500 Iconia. I am not sure if it is possible. I have read a ton and can't seem to find a clear answer to this problem. Several people talk about rooting the A500 so it can see a ad-hoc wifi tether. Unless I misunderstood I also read that a rooted android phone could be a real wifi hotspot not just an ad-hoc connection. I am not sure if I am mistaken or not. If someone could clear this up it would be great.
I am not sure if I am doing the tethering correctly on android. I setup the tethering with a SSID, encryption and the like. the A500 sees the wifi SSID but can't seem to obtain a IP address.
The odd thing is that when I start the wifi tether the yellow wifi icon starts in the top right corner of the phone. Then another wifi looking icon starts next to it. it says tethering and wifi hot spot. I have tried using it also but the system locks and reboots. if I don't mess with the second tethering and wife hotspot it doesn't reboot, but i still can't connect.
The strange thing is that the main tethering lets me setup SSID and the like but the tethering and wife hotspot will let me setup a different SSID. I am not sure why they aren't connected.
I thought this all had to do with the unrooted A500 but I tried the same windows laptop that I had tethered to with wm6.5 and it can see the wifi on the phone but can't connect.
Thanks for any ideas.
