Moving Apps - Maybe a Stupid question - Desire HD General

Firstly, apologies if this has already been asked, but I did search, and could not find an answer. I currently have a desire HD, running Cyanogen RC4. I have quite a lot of apps, including ones I paid for that are no longer available in the market, most notably n64oid. I have placed an order for an Xperia Play (I know it is probably a lesser phone that the Desire HD, but I am a sucker for new tech), and want to know how I can move apps such as this to the new phone. I cannot download it from the market as it is no longer available, but obvisously want to use this app on my new phone.
I hope this question makes sense, and thank you for replies in advance

Back all your apps up via titanium backup and then restore them via this too

Yea I would use titanium and just back up everything u need its pretty good

You can use appsaver too. It saves your apps to a folder on your sdcard. Simply install the .apk files from there on the other phone.

[Q] Desire HD apps stripped from ROM

Hi,
Is there a place I can download any of the Desire HD apps like the Reader, car Panel, HTC Like, etc.. that have been stripped from the HD ROM ?
I've tried the HD ROM itself, but the camera app doesn't work for the standard Desire, so I would prefer to wait until everything is fixed until I use that ROM. Until that happens.
Thanks
I don't get it, so why do you need the apps from Desire HD?...
Anyways, you can download a Desire HD ROM and open it with WinRAR and export the apk files from there.
You cant install them onto non HD roms so dont waste tour time if you plan to.

HTC Likes and the EReader are some nice apps. But the Desire HD Rom doesnt runs perfect.
So why dont build a normal Desire ROM with some Desire HD Apps.

I like the feature that allows you to cache maps.

Thanks. That's what I read somewhere. I thought maybe someone has managed to port the apps to the regular HD and uploaded them somewhere.

Unfortunately not. The development thread will explode with excitement when they get ported

Question about the market from a total noob

Hello all. Had an iPhone then a windows phone 7 device until about a week ago. Bought an Orange san Francisco, cracking little phone. I had rooted it and was running a custom firmware. I like Android so much I bought a desire he yesterday, it rocks. The question I ask, is on the san Francisco, if I search for say "youtube downloaded" in market place I get a lot more results that if I do the same search on my desire hd. I'm using the newest market place app on both and both are on the same WiFi network. Any ideas? Sorry if this has been asked previously, but I can't figure out how to search in the xda app, please don't flame me for my ignorance.

Could only guess due to different versions of android. if you are sure that you are using the same Search string in Market then am puzzled too.
I have 2.2 on my desire, but used both a leaked custom 2.2 curtosey of modaco, and a standard 2.1 on the Dan Francisco. Is there an alternative web place I can get the free android apps from. Note, in not requesting free apps, just an alternative place I can search for the free apps.

The fast boot option hides some apps in market. Try unchecking that.
It is in Settings -> Applications

You can try Appbrain, and in DHD try HTC Likes - it inturn searches market but they are very usefull in app discovery.

The fast boot settings says, u need to disable this for some market apps to work. NOt sure whether will it hide anything from showing to the user...
If you have rooted your Desire HD take a look for Market Enabler on the market.

New Android market

Hello,
For new Android market that is rolling out now, will we will get the new Android market even if our phones have been rooted and have custom ROM on it?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I couldn't imagine them doing anything specific just to (I'm sure only momentarily) annoy people with rooted phones.
If your market works now I'd say there's a fairly good chance the new one will as well. Although I cannot confirm it.
Yes, the new one works. I use it since.yesterday on my dhd.

EDIT: can't find the thread where i got the apk from, but i loaded it up for you with my super awesome 25kbit/s internet

Anyone else getting problem with it not showing your installed apps? Only showing 11 apps when I just counted I actually have 55 apps installed. Don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall all them just so they show up.

I'm waiting for the offical one just to come along.

A restart and a bit patience sorted the problem.
Overall I like it. Would rather there was a my apps button on the front page but in not going to go on a murderous rampage because its missing.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
From what I can see it is a very data hungry application as it can take a while to fire up when network connection is on the slow side.
i still havent got the update on my dhd.
so there are different release dates between different regions right?
Ye, Google did say the update (which will go on your phone auto, so no need to go to settings and update) will be with us all between now and up coming weeks.

i hope the version that goes arround is not the final one cause beside being very laggy it is buggy. it broke a market link of an installed ap while trying to update it.
also even though it showed me one app being able to update it didn't allowed me to. clicking on it brought me to the apps details page and there i could only open or uninstall it.
i could onlly update apps if i had more than one by clicking update all.
p.s. oh and not to forgot: the amount of traffic it causes is extrem! a multiplactive of the old one, as if they would not cache the images of the apps showcase on the front page.

Agreed, same problem here, uninstalled the update. Don't like the new layout, hard to find things.
I have uninstalled the update and gone back to the last version. New one is almost unusable on anything other than a perfect cell connection.

Same here but i guess i'll keep it as it looks great, just a matter of few days to get habitual of it
when i click on download in new market it is starting to download for ages
when i reset phone it download the file immediately
Am I the only one, who thinks the new Metro-look (WP7 like ) is ugly?
I dont see any slowness. The only thing that bothers me is the updates. With the old one you could see the updates right away. With this one not so direct.

new google play market

new google play apk.
seems slow on data bit like new most newer markets. thoughts on it>?
Have not had many problems with it so far..
Will install the apk later when i get home and test how well it holds against the current one.
Thx, working great on mildwild 3.7

Thank you, it works on RCMixS (android 2.3.3)
It is very smooth on cyanogen. But i bet it'll lag a bit on sense roms.
Play Market, silly name. Sounds more like a toy shop.
I've had some problems connecting to and downloading apps using mobile data on Sandvold ICS. Using WiFi usually works.
Here is version 3.4.7 (just check OP's version 3.4.6).
Hope OP doesn't mind I post the updated version here.

That's exactly what I thought when the name and icon changed to "Play Shop" unexpectedly. I thought perhaps they were launching a seperate one just for games and entertainment, keeping apps seperate or something.
It's smooth on Redux 1.2
thanks
Thank you!!
I was looking but he was not finding her, and neither the update was bringing in me...

And you probably got that xda premium app there for free right?
The new market is absolutely brilliant! Great smooth transitions and elegant graphics! ICS Style baby!
Why google play says "your device isn't compitable with this item" when looking Death rally (free)? Tried already to clear market (google play) data and cache but that didn't help.

Yes Google Play is more fast than Android Market. But he's capricious with Market Link
Titanium Track said:
Supports Google Play Store 3.5.15. Please note: Play Store is capricious with Market links because it relies more on Google's servers. If you want more control we encourage you to ask Google. It's their app. Let them know the goal you want to achieve. Once they provide a way, we'll give you full control of it!

I never use the app... web browsing is far comfortable to use and my apps are automatically updated. No lost time.
The only missing feature to the website is the installed applications on the device (from GPlay...).

Obtaining Incompatible APK's?

I've purchased a fair number of applications I'd like to use on my N7 that are listed by the Play Store as incompatible, particularly Machinarium (which I'd really hoped to get into).
Of course a simple Google search of [application name] + apk + [rar/zip/mediafire/other obvious piracy related search terms] will likely get me what I want, but I'd really prefer not to go that route due to providence and, frankly, the fact that I paid for this, I'll figure out if it work or not.
Definitely have the SDK installed, definitely not very great at using it. Any help is well appreciated by my rain drenched weknd.
Are you rooted on your other Android device? You can use root explorer to pull the apks, then just dropbox/email them to the Nexus.
So... Download the app to a compatible device, go into the folder where they keep the app data, copy the apk go your sd card, and then email it or upload to dropbox.

Nice. I most definitely am. Cheers.

No problem! You should find most apks in the/data/app folder.
Some are hidden other places, so you may need to "search" the file name.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
You don't even need to be rooted. You can backup apps with astro file manager and then find the apps in the backups folder and send them to dropbox or however else you wand to send them

I ran airdroid on the phone and accessed it via chrome on the tablet to get a load of apps. Worked well just ticked the ones I wanted and downloaded a zip file.
