Ok so I flashed the latest Bionix Froyo rom onto my Vibrant and I don't really enjoy the hiccups found in the rom. I would like to go back to the Ji6 updateand wait for the official 2.2 update from Samsung. Can someone explain to me how i would do so?

Odin back to stock JFD then update to JI6

In theory, you could flash Anderoid's AOSPish 1.4 which will bring your kernel back to 2.1 and then flash the stock J16 rom over that.

Would that work? That would be so much easier than using odin.

Yeah, aospish has the kernel included, so it shouldn't give you any problems.

Just checking back to see how the flashing went. Everything turn out ok?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Thanx for the feedback but will that really work? I have yo wait a couple days to do so because I'm not going to b around my computer during the weekend. Ill let u guys know how it goes on Monday.. if anyone has any other ideas, plaza let me know

the core kernel is 2.1 so flash any 2.1 rom and flash the core kernel. problem solved?
I just flashed the Super Clean to mine... was just curious what everyone else is using? Im sure Ill catch the modding fever after this so I was going to make a list of ones to try out.
Thread moved to General.
Im using blackhole 2.2 (not froyo) because its cleaner than the super clean your running and it gives you the options on what to install...

Axura is amazingly fast and stuff but I want it fast as before on when I had lag fix on my stock j16
Can I apply oclf and be good with no bugs or soft bricks or is there something else for the Axura lagfix
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Do not apply oclf. It does not play nice with axura use the voodoo kernel in the op of axura thread.

Put the voodoo.zip on your phones sd card, go into Clockwork mod recovery mode, choose install zip from sd card, and choose the voodoo.zip file, and the process will take awhile, so be patient

Voodoo works great on Axura. My phone has zero lag no matter what I throw at it.
Ill try it then thanks
i just did it, didnt take long at all. Does that mean something went wrong? Is there a way to see if its installed?

Go to the Team Whiskey site. There's a thread on the Voodoo install and uninstall. It very different then OCLF yet still easy just not as..
I don't even run a lag fix anymore, Axura 2.x is quite snappy without it. And I find Voodoo while it works well, it tangles up in my system more then I prefer because I'm always flashing something.
But that said, Axura and Voodoo and your flying.
Good luck.

My boot animation doesn't play bootup or shutdown, even if i download from rom manger it used to work... also can i get the color fix without voodoo kearnel?
Are you using the DJ05 kernel from adryn's post? That kernel does not have boot animations.

1- what rom are you on?
2- no, plus even with voodoo, it only works at 100% brightness.

I've Never used a stupidfast kernel, but if it worked before, logically it still should. Are you familiar with terminal commands? (i.e. Could you navigate to /system/media and /data/local to see if "bootanimation.zip" is present)
Or if you have root explorer you can just navigate to there and see if the bootanimation.zip is there.
Its possible its not flashing properly, but adding it manually should work

My wife's phone did that. She has sonofskywalker's latest as of this jan 1st. And stupidfast 1.54 with dj05 radio. I couldnt figure it out either. I tried to manually insert it, and flash it also deleted the old one. I dont know?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
v 1.54 of Stupidfast had/has broken boot animations. Later versions fixed the problem, but I don't know when it was fixed as I had moved on to voodoo by the time they were working again.

I'm stumped. Sorry bro.
What I've noticed is that the dj05 stupidfast kernel comes bootanomationless. (If that's even a word) ;-) I just switched back to a jt kernel and it came back. I would suggest that if u like the way stupidfast runs, screw the bootanimation. If it's that important, switch to a different kernel. Hope this helps.

Look for the ROM thread that has the most number of pages, or look in the Q&A sections.
By the way this question should be posted in the Q&A section, and you should read the forum posting rules.

I agree with this. But personally, I'd go with asgard. It's been the most stable and battery friendly in my opinion.

Second that! Oh and yeah bad place to put this. Actually this question get's asked a lot, yet there is no definitive answer it seems?... I believe it is all about personal preference. MIUI seems to have a great balance of everything I could want in a phone and super user friendly customization. I searched a month for a rom... Tried most 2.3.x and while they all offer something and are greatly appreciated... I just so happen to like MIUI the best. Goodluck!
Cm7 is what many people go for, but if you google the things you can do in MIUI, then you will see it offers the most features. The non stock version that nickminn updates every friday seems to be better than any other 2.3.5 rom I have seen otherwise.. but they all have bugs, reduced battery life versus 2.2.x, and barely or non working gps.
The bugs I still had when I stopped using it a few weeks ago: media button on headphones doesn't work, if listening to music when you get a call and you answer, the music will continue to play, you have to restart it after charging(at least after long charges) or it will not go into deep sleep, and occasional sd card issues(my music player would too often not be able to find the music).. the plus side is all of the features: the notification bar being customizable and shortcuts to each toggle, the ability to theme EACH part of the UI individually, the built in backup/restore, the battery tracking, the device data usage app, the multi touch drag/drop and tons more.
Also I was getting 16-20 hours under heavy/moderate use which is the best I have seen on any ginger rom including cm7.. on ANY 2.3.5 rom you need to use cpu spy to make sure it goes into deep sleep to have good battery.
Hope this helps.. there is a large trade off using any gingerbread rom until we get the source code-- I went back to 2.2.1 because EVERYTHING works, and I simply can't kill it in 24 hours unless I TRY.. I get 24-48 hours per charge. I miss the features of MIUI, but not enough for the costs-- most of the differences between 2.2 and 2.3 is mostly cosmetic in the end.
I think he means 2.2 roms that look like GB. In that case, try Bionix 1.3.1. It should be easy to find.

why would you want a 2.2 rom that looks like 2.3 when you can have 2.3?
that's like body kitting a car to look like a ferrari when you can just get a ferrari... sure the ferrari may get worse gas mileage, but it's still definitely worth it.

Root. Install rom manager. Install vibrant recovery via rom manager. Download bionix 1.3.1. Reboot into recovery. Clear cache and and dalvik cache. Install zip from sd card. First boot takes a bit and your phone starys talking saying its enabling vodoo lagfix. And then you are done

cm7, miui, and there are plenty of others. cm7 is as easy as odin to jfd, root, install rom manager, flash cm7 and the gapps. miui should be the same. for any of the samsung i9k based roms you want/have to flash new bootloaders (at least that was the case last time i used one).

if you installed clockwork recovery and you are getting the stock recovery, you need to hit 'reinstall packages' (sometimes twice).
