Really? 4G is the network. Same reason it's an Epic 4G. 3D = 3 Dimensions, it's a 3D screen like 3D movies. They're not sequential version numbers like software, they're describing features of the phone in the name.

Unless theres a good amount of features that I cant live without or be able to install individually through ACS ROM, Ill stick with Froyo. No reason to make my phone more complicated with an entirely new upgrade.

So I was thinking. If we can get a large number of people, starting here on XDA, maybe we can convince HTC to upgrade us Evo's to gingerbread with sense 2. We can write a letter somewhat like the following.

Just root your phone and use a custom Gingerbread ROM.
Custom ROM's all seam to be ported from other devices and there is always something that is broken.

I'm rocking cm7 nightly build 8 and find it to be very stable. An official update would be nice though for app support.
OP, what is in gingerbread that you need so badly?
Honestly I want an official sense 2 update for the evo more than anything. Gingerbread would be an added bonus. I just think its the right thing to do by keeping our phones updated. I know HTC is looking for everyone to keep buying. But I think we deserve the update

Hell, count me in. I rather a real EVO ROM with Sense 2.0 rather then ports. And as far as I know, there are no gingerbread Sense ROMs that I've seen. I'm running Warm Z just for the new Sense.

Honeslt one of the reasons I went with HTC over Samsung is because of faster update time. I don't wanna be let down. When my upgarde comes, if I'm happy, ill get another HTC. If they don't update my current phone to sense 2 and or gingerbread, ill lose faith and go with a different phone next time. A lot of people will agree I think.

yeah but look at the other manufacturers. They all pushed out Gingerbread and HTC is the only one people are waiting on.
I'm asking that they do it in the next six months or so. A standard contract is 2 years. If they do it officially by June, ill be happy. Some confirmation would be nice. And yes. HTC is the one we are waiting on.

this is going to work for sure, because currently HTC doesn't think we would like any more updates.
I have seen all the threads on here about who is getting what, upgrade or not upgrade, etc. Who cares, Shouldn't the most important thing to do is get our hands on the 2.3 GB sense Dump from this phone????, I don't watch movies on my phone or record a shaky video so who cares about the 3D. If your with me let me get a HELL YEA!!!! Flame on.

I made a custom theme once where, you know the weather animations w/the HTC clock? Well, if it was day during the animation, the sun was replaced with our friend Buddy Christ, here...and if it was night, the moon was replaced with a Deathstar. Good times.
I'll be polluting this phone's forums for awhile since I won't be upgrading for a bit.

How is this gonna be different from any other rom leak? The hardware should be made to talk to the software. Just because it's called "Evo", it's not going to be any easier to port it...

There also isn't a zoom on the camera, which I just found out last night while using my g/f's. Some things just don't make sense.
I also got the nexus s and am loving it. For those complaining about notification led try noled app on the market. Works pretty well. Im still not sure if ill get the 3d just because of the size, I'm really enjouying the size of the nexus.

No. You must flash a CDMA version if you want data/phone to work. Hopefully CM7 & MIUI show us some love in the not too distant future. Hell, I've been studying source all day trying to figure out how to port Amon-RA recovery over to NS4G.

Yeah I actualy heard somewhere else that on the ninth the now network(sprint) will be the frst to get the gs2 varient the Epic Touch.

Ugh, capacitive buttons... am I the only one tired of the flakiness of those? I remember it was common in a few of the Epics back around release, but my 'back' button is an inaccurate pain to hit, and I've come to realize I greatly (GREATLY) prefer the click of a button over the buzz of feedback.

Capacitive buttons are much better. They don't wear down as easily as mechanical buttons and you can't get lint in them like physical buttons. The capacitive buttons on the Nexus S are a lot better than on the Epic so I would assume they would at least be just as good, if not better on the SGS2.
Man guys. I got mad today. I went to Tijuana to visit my dad. And when I was driving to his house I see a big billboard that says Samsung galaxy S II. WTF why does Mexico have it before the us. That made me mad lol.
