I was just at my local Sprint store to find out when I could upgrade, and I asked when they would be offering preorders for the EVO 3D, the rep wasn't sure about that but said the 3D will be coming out this July.

The guy at my local sprint store took down my name and number and said hell call me when the pre orders for the nexus are available. Hopefully they don't forget.
I imagine/hope/wish it would be the same day as the original evo that I have and love was released. That being the in june, one can only hope I guess, and odds are u can pre order from second party vendor way before a sprint store offers any kind of pre order that's what I did for my evo and I bet it was way easier than going to sprint which is what I will be doing again

I went to a Sprint store today and they said it was coming out tomorrow.
tl;dr: Sprint reps are full of it and have no idea when anything's happening.
I hope it would be a June release, great way to start the summer And the rep that told me has always been very reliable. Unlike the other one that told me the 3D will have a 1.5 duo core snapdragon processor that's going to just be awesome... I laughed and walk away
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
It does have that dual core. Its gonna come stock at 1.2 Ghz but they are testing it at 1.5 and its crushing other chipsets in benchmark testing. So that Rep wasn't lying cause you will be able to oc it to 1.5

There's no way a store level sprint rep knows any date about the 3d.
Saw some videos on youtube and it looks promising. On the other hand sprint should be focusing on bring the gingerbread to the current evo's. I still find it funny that the evo 3d was running 2.2 when watching the video.

The rep did lie. If it doesn't come stock at 1.5ghz it's a lie.
As for it being able to be overclocked to 1.5ghz, it's highly likely it can be, but if their chip is only tested to 1.2ghz, some might not clock that high. The reason this happens is because when they cut the wafers, companies tend to test to see if they clock at a given speed, if they don't pass, then they try a lower speeds.
Now, this doesn't mean the chip that failed the higher speed can't be overclocked to that speed. Sometimes, it just a matter of giving it more juice to get it there, but then you can run into issues with heat and much faster battery drain.

Well see thats my question.
will the Evo 3d be a Lg phone or a htc phone?
It has that Samsung feel to it, but it's a pretty sweet phone. It feels solid and the little chin bit feels nice in the hand, but I'm not huge on the plastic myself. Nice to see it at least come to Sprint, I'm not entirely sold on these dual cores as I don't game or take in a whole lot of media on it sans music / random videos. 3D phones ... ehh, it should be the big phone of the 2 and I know the 3D toggle will be there ... and there is all that talk about 3D on displays that don't really do it justice ... blah blah blah. I'd consider the Nexus S, especially for just a year. Will be interesting to see what is what.
I'm itching to find out how much it'll sell for. I don't have any problems with selling my Evo to get my hands on a Nexus S on Sprint.

they will soon. probably at ctia. but their dual cores are inferior to the tegra/samsung dual cores. @ 1ghz vs 1ghz, htc/qualcomm's is about 25% slower. qualcomm is setting them at 1.2 ghz so it'll make up some of the gap but power consumption will shoot up plus the tegra 2 is 5nm smaller so tegra 2 is overall more power efficient. i'd personally want a tegra 2 but not much of a choice.

Its just hard to take Samsung serious when it comes to phones. I mean the rule the tv world but I just don't like how they support their phones(taking forever with updates/fixes). Very hard to believe the nexus s is a sammy product and not an HTC.

I imagine it will have one very soon since Samsung gave one to the CM team (not the cdma version, but i'm sure they will make a rom for it).
This is only my opinion so take it for what it's worth. Don't expect to see the EVO 4G+ in the States. There's simply not a place for it in Sprint's handset lineup. Since it's basically the 3D without the 3D what would be the point? It would be redundant.
The HTC 4G+ (with an unlocked bootloader) should have came to Sprint, not the 3D.
Don't hate me
I just hope sprint gets the next iPhone. I've been using MIUI since I rooted my Evo.
Honestly, I think iOS fits my personal tastes more than android.

Just wanted your thoughts on the Official Gingerbread for Vibrant.
Do you think it will ever come?
Do you even care?
Any feedback is appreciated .

I don't think about it because I don't care. Gingerbread for the Vibrant 3G is the last thing on Samsungs list.
i have cm7 so i could care less! i will be getting the hercules in a few months anyway
The Gingerbread ROMS are already pretty smooth and nice so I no longer care about the stock one which they seem that don't even WANT to update.

Probably not coming since the Galaxy S 4G is essentially the successor to the original Vibrant. It would be a terrible sales decision for T-Mobile to support the older model, especially when the two are almost identical except for 4G, an FFC, and the lack of internal storage on the 4G.

Sorry, but current dual cores devices are useless and equally as fast as the Nexus S since ICS is yet to be released to optimize Android for multicore devices. You may as well get the one phone guaranteed to get ICS which will increase the Nexus's speed as well. The G2X looks like its not getting ICS and the Sensation would be bogged down by Sense again. Galaxy S2, maybe.
No offense because the 2.3 Roms out right now are smooth. But they straight murder the battery life. Why have a mobile device if you a charge every 8 hours.

No, I held out hope because Samsung promised and promised and promised, and there was a BIG media hullabaloo about the lack of timeliness on the 2.2 update.
Samsung has had exactly ONE press release saying they're putting 2.3 on "all" Galaxy S phones and nobody in the media is talking about a lack of update. Basically, it's as if no-one cares, Samsung included. Only a few people on forums are making any fuss about it, and everybody knows forums in general fly fairly low under the radar.
I still say we're not going to see it, and even if Samsung delivers it before the end of the year, it's far too little far too late. I have no desire to reward their failures and apathy with more purchases.
edit: Oh, and you can thank the ****ing SGS 4G for the lack of an update. IT'S getting 2.3 leaks left and ****ing right, and the rumor is from devs in the know that there isn't even 2.3 source code in existence for the Vibrant.

You are right the good thing about dual cores is one core is incharge of one process and other core incharge of another process. This would probably be best for me as I am constantly studying in school, and switch between apps really fast and single core just cant take from browser to xxxx app to xxxx app and back to browser without it getting stuck!?
If you got like 15 apps and just use it for ROMS and GPS and shiny fast things then by all means stick with the Galaxy S.

OP, the only phone we know is coming soon that's in the same class as the new generation of phones is the Samsung Galaxy S II. HTC and Moto have both released top-end phones on Sprint in the last few months. My guess is that after the SGSII, the next high end phones we see on Sprint will be the next Nexus and other phones designed for ICS.

And it only uses the 1gb when it is in the computer dock. Otherwise it runs on 512mb.

Hrm I didn't know that. The screen was enough for me not to consider but this definitely puts the last nail in the coffin.
I wonder if that's a power saving "feature"...
Also a new LG coming out.

Is this an annoucement date or when the phone is actually going to be available?
I had planned on waiting a couple months to see what comes out but I left my EVO in a golf cart this past weekend and before I got back to the course the cart kid had rinsed out the cart and got a little water on it. It wasn't even a lot of water but the phone is acting crazy now and keeps hopping in and out of car mode and goes straight to speakerphone when I answer a call. Not sure if I can put up with it like it is and I not going to spend the $100 deductible to replace.
I'm hoping my 30 day trial will get me a look at the SGS2. If not, kinda leaning towards the photon but need to spend some time with it in store. Was a little underwhelmed by the 3D.
i have seen the Photon but i have not really considered it.
I really like HTC and want to stick with it.
How does the Motorola and Samsung stack up with HTC?

this statement is false..i personally went to sprint to pay my phone bill today and while i was there i gave the photon a test drive..there is absolutly no truth about the ram operating @512 off the dock. with that being said..the photon is a very nice phone speed wise..i imagine battery life is better cuz of dual core..i did not care for the screen or the phone as a whole...HTC are hard to compete with and i will continue to be a customer.

So HTC won't be releasing any new phones any time soon?
