No you can't use rom manager to install roms.

u need clockwork recovery to use rom manager which is not present for our rom
instead we use odin which is a Computer program which pushes the custom rom to our phone
note: u cannot take any backups using odin if u want backups then use titanium backup (which requires root)
after rooting, install setcpu from market and lower the cpu frequency from 667 to 600 or something
u will definitely get a decrease of performance otherwise there is no known tested methods to increase battery life
I just upgraded my galaxy 3 to froyo with i5800jpf rom..i m satisfies with new battery life. Phone is being faster as well.
Better install froyo rom...battery life is much better. ....

Guys im ruining on nero v3 and jk6 modern and the voodoo 5 stick kernel that came with nero v3, with voodo enabled. so problem is that I run out of battery fast faster than stock jl6 on 2.1,so what is the best kernel with good battery life and performance. Stock kernel gives me some lag. So il avoid that one.
FYI: Voodoo will ALWAYS drain your battery faster than stock.
it happened to me too. i went in recovery, advance and wipe the battery stat and now the battery last much longer.

Why do you say? Voodoo uses stock kernels except it converts partitions to ext4.

I'm not entirely sure why but I think its because the system has to constantly convert the data to ext4 rather than having a native rfs. Don't take my explanation as fact though. But from personal experience and countless posts from others, its known that Voodoo will always drain faster than stock.
The easiest way to root your device would be to go into the development section and there is a post at the very top that says the vibrant bible and download the one click root or one of the other methods listed. That will root your device then u need to go to the market and download Rom Manager. Then find a custom Rom that u like and put it on the internal sd card. I am using Eugene's macnut r14. After u put it where it goes then go into Rom Manager and click flash clockwork mod recovery. It will have a list of phones click on the vibrant. After it downloads click on boot into recovery. It may take u to the stock recovery, if it does move down using the volume down button and select "Reinstall Packages" using the power button it should then take u to clockwork mod. In there click install zip from sd card. Scroll down using the volume down button and select it using the power button again. Then once u find the rom click the power button again once it is highlighted. It will ask are u sure that u want to install this. Scroll down and select yes. And that is it you are then done and now will have 2.2 if the rom u picked had it. Also before u install the rom but after u root the device download Titanium Backup and make a backup of all your apps and that will also save your data with those apps. If u need any help feel free to P.M. me because that is easier then finding this thread again.

Im no noob when it comes to flashing but I flashed back to stock using odin last week, immediately afterwards I flashed back to nero v3. So today I flashed eugenes super io kernel after disabling voodoo of course, went into oclf to enable the lag fix but to my surprise its saying my phone isn't rooted?? So the option of installing the lag fix isn't available to me. Yet I've been able to flash custom roms???? I don't get it

Going to flash my stock VZW tab tomorrow- what would everyone suggest for the best rom to start with?
Thanks for replys!!!
Im running the stock rom with all the bloat Titaniumed out, and running adw ex launcher... the roms that are out for CDMA right now are too personalized for my taste...
However the KhasMek Voodoo Plus v3 OC Kernal is aaaaaaamazing!!! and definitely install Voodoo control App... again its aaaaaamazing!!
So i flahed the khasmek voodoo rom. So sorry if this is a dumb question, but why wasn't the market installed? I tried to install it, but it just kept crashing.
Thanks!

I had the same problem... plus my email would routinely give me an error, again making it crash... and it also brought up a process.acore error about every 3 min... so i just went back to stock, installed the kernal only and now customized my own rom
What's it take to just install the kernel? has it affected the stability
So can i just flash the kernel only with sgs kernel flasher?
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
honestly not sure about with sgs flasher... I used Hiemdall... all you have to do is:
1. put your tab into DL mode
2. plug into your comp
3. open the driver package, in the driver folder that comes with hiemdall
4. tell it to list all devices, chose Samsung USB composite, and upload the driver
5. open the hiemdall frontend
6. put the kernal file in the kernal and recovery slot
7. flash... done
hope this helps
and stability is great!! havent had a single problem and I run the hell out of my tab almost all day
yeah dont use sgs flasher. i doubt thats safe
Thanks admir1. Are you using the overclocked kernel or just the regular 1?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I didnt know I was supposed to put the tab in DL mode, I just mounted it and it came up as samsung tablet in the drivers section, thats what installed. Did I screw it up for this PC to work for flashing now?
I think you should be fine? As long as when you flashed the kernal in hiemdall it said successful you should be good to go...
And I'm using the OC kernal

Definitely get the voodoo control appfrom the market too!! The sound is simply incredible!!

I've tried out a couple ROMs but didn't like any of them, is there any clean rom released? Don't like any of that bloatware.
Bloatware can be deleted, give cm7 a try though.
if you want stable stick with stock, and delete all of the bloatware. Takes couple minutes tops.

Oxygen Rom by AdamG...
Sent from my GT-I9100, using Oxygen (2.3.7 Gingerbread)
I use a stock ki3 2.3.5, root it and then install titanium backup. With this program you can remove the samsung crapware. Be carefull not to remove too much. Then u can install launcher pro to finish the job
This setup also gives extra battery live (less background processes)
Good luck

Try KI3 stock.
I have been using full stock and has been happy since. Tried exynos but its buggy alot.
"battery is better than stock but battery is no use if you can not use your phone"
Lot of user told me to wipe and re install exynos - did all that but i am back to fully stock ki3.
All work no fuss = HAPPY
just charge the battery when low and keep using
Good luck

hello,
currently m using samsung galaxy 3 i5801..firmware version-2.2. build number- FROYO.DDJP4..and its rooted..but not going to cynogenmod..please suggest me some nice benefits of rooting so that i can upgrade my phone to further version..lik right nw m using 2.2 version ..m little bit new to android so please explain or guide me accordingly..so that i can enjoy all d apps
Well, according to my knowledge, rooting just gives you total acess to your phone. Rooting would, in no way, help you upgrade your frimware.
If you want to upgrade to 2.3 frimware, the only way currently is to flash (instal) cyanogenmod on it.
Rooting will help you do stuff such as overclocking, using chainfire, using titanium back up etc.
Please correct me if i am wrong...

If you want to upgrade/flash a custom rom, root isn't needed. Its only needed when users want to backup their apps and data using titanium backup. Without root no data csn be backedup. Just follow the how to flash using odin for dummies guide and you'll be fine
Cheers

Rooting helps you in every way, backing up data, apps, contacts and allow you to do other tweaks and mods. Plus you can just flash a nice kernel like g3mod and do all flashing and related fun with the recovery. Visit development forum to know about kernel flashing.
Having an unlocked bootloader is a blessing
