[Help]With ship s-off , is eng s-off necessary for using Revolution 2.1 ROM?

I have ship s-off and root. Then eng s-off is still necessary for using this ROM ? Thanks.

Ship S-OFF is fine for flashing ROMs, ENG S-OFF allows you to use fastboot to flash new Radio's and such.
Thanks. I see now

Does anyone know how to Root a Evo with 6.17.0001?

I don't see any guides with 6.17.0001 listed?
Your hboot means your s-off with revolutionary all you have to do is flash a custom recovery and superuser.zip

Thanks for the reply. Should I try to flash a recovery even when it says S-ON?
It says s-on? If so you have to rerun a RUU to get the hboot back to 2.16 and then use revolutionary.io to unlock and root it again

It's like that because the previous owner didn't rerun the RUU to return it to normal hboot he just flashed the hex edited hboot to get s-on

It really bothers me when lazy people don't follow ALL of my instructions. evo4gnoob is right; that's actually the next step in the process. People seem to think S-ON is enough (it probably is, in most cases), but a true EVOphile will know that 6.17 isn't a "real" (i.e. from HTC) HBOOT version.

How do I get back s-on. Nothing in the Bible works.

I've tried the 1 or 2 things in the Bible and its not working. Still s-off. I flashed the newest gingerbread PD1.zip hoping that might install a new s-on bootloader but no. It's still the PVT 0.86.

Read it carefully. There's a section that says, procedure to revert. Follow that and it should work
