Hi zpev!
Did you install iGo and the maps on the WM side and it works? If so, this must be an absolutely special edition of iGo, very, very thinnnnnnnn.....
If talking of Vista side with Bluetooth Holux GPS, then I must confess that it is for the first time that I learn about iGo for Windows. Absolutely great....
Could you plase come back with details tomorrow on the 2nd of April ....
Ano igo 8 funguje pod windows
Howdy axel TP2, yes igo works through Windows 7 vista there is not available, but I think the iGO vistama will work. Thus, the summary ... Igo 8 works via bluetooth HOLUX chip and the windows. As I have time someone exposed to it.
Igo 8
Howdy, I'm here to give it igo 8 so we can ride, but somehow it does not not know why?

Hi zpev! How are you progressing with your iGO on Win7, is it working now? If positive, please give us some details.
IGO 8.3 win 7
Hi,
Yes igo 8.3 works without problems. Only the need for an external GPS chip I bought from my company and Holux works excellent and without problems.

Good evening,
I Have a Ipaq 1940 PDA with windows mobile 3. On the site of Igo thay say that IGO works on this PDA. I have also TOMTOM and this works fine but IGO will not find mij GPS Module( a tomtom gps Bluetooth Module).
Does anybody know what to do about it
Blaauw
Sorry blaauw, I can't help, but I'm interested in where you can buy I-Go as I'm looking for an alternative to upgrading my TomTom to v6 for my Universal. Their website doesn't seem to offer a buy facility.

Personally I wouldn't do that as a UK resident. IGO is very pretty and has nice features, but compared to Tomtom it's routing abilities leave a lot to be desired. I've currently got both IGO and Tomtom on my Universal.
IGO can be fun, because I drive a 4x4 and I like thundering down tiny tracks half covered in mud, but for the majority of time in sat nav use, I want to use real roads.
IGO is king in some countries where Tomtom has poor or non-existant coverage, but in the UK considering IGO as an upgrade to Tomtom will leave you dissapointed.
Check your GPS settings, IGO cannot see the GPS if it is set to COM0:, COM1 - 8 should be OK.
Hi,
Does anyone recommend and GPS navigation products for the prophet? I have been looking around, and have had conflicting views on the TomTom mobile platform.
Any recommendations?
Cheers
I'm using iGo 2006 Plus with full Europe maps on only 1 GB SD card!
This program is very fast and optical very nice, because it's based on a game engine by PDAMill!

i'm using mapking, gpsgate with holux bluetooth device= Never let me down
iGo is the best
currently using holux bt gps receiver & garmin que s/w. not much maps/programs for us here in NZ. no problems using them
Used TT6 and a SiRF Star III bluetooth antenna for a while with no problems.
I use...
Tom Tom 6 with a generic bluetooth gps receiver, with Europe and North America maps on a 4 Gb SD card. Works beautifully, starts quickly and reliably.
I usually use it in the car (with a car windshield suction mount)
I have been using Google maps (free) with a gprs/edge connection but there is no voice guidance. I have a holux slim 240 bluetooth gps receiver which works good but sometimes it takes some time to find the satellites initially.
Destinator with Hollux
A Hollux receiver and Destinator 6.x works great for me.

Most software are not bad..Best of all is the GarminXT with BT Holux 236.
I use TT6 and an Adadpt SirfIII BT reciever.
tried numerous other nav systems, but this one works the best around all europe, IMO.
I'm a courier IRL, so i have sh*tloads of experience with satnav systems

Hi People,
Until the folks here @ XDA-DEV succesfully hack their way in the Shift to get :
- SD card access
- Bluetooth Access
- Wifi Access
- optional HDD access
it's still impossible to navigate using the WinMo part of this gem.
So.. I installed Microsoft Autoroute 2007 Europe, and tried to connect a bluetooth
GPS to the HTC shift.
- paired my HUDGPS (polaris brand.. also a Heads-Up-Display for in your car!!)
- pairing tells me I got two new serial ports, an SPP and serial port (com4 and com5)
- I start autoroute, configure it to use either com4 or 5, but fails. It says that the comport might actually
already be in use, or , the other port, it says : cannot open comport.
Usually, I'm not easily defeated, so I changed the comports in the device manager to 21 and 22 to
see if I could make it work this way.
Still no joy, it even deleted all comports without my consent, and had to de-pair and re-pair (aha!)
the Bluetooth GPS to get my comports back.
Even after that, I just cannot get Microsoft Autoroute 2007 to work with the BT GPS.
I will post more info (can I use other software etc...) soon, maybe someone already tried
to install navigation stuff and has a few comments.
Also, if you still own a fossil PDA like the Kaiser, checkout http://www.reperion.com/newclient

i don't want to disappoint you, but the WM side of the shift is a kaiser.
I haven't tried Microsoft's GPS navigation software, mainly because they don't have the maps (even if they did, it probably would be rather outdated) for my country.
For what it's worth, I have installed both Garmin Mapsource coupled with its nRoute program, as well as MapAsia's MapKing GPS navigation programs on my Shift, paired with my GSpace GPS receiver via BT, and both programs work. I use a "third party" gateway - Franson's GPSGate - as a go between, between the GPS receiver and both software.
Works flawlessly.

Automapa EU works well on vista side. Cheked with Rikaline GPS 6036 - SiRF Star III SOC v2 and GPS GB735 NAVIBE both without any problems
Sygic 7.53 and Igo 8 working fine on Vista side (with usb and bt gps receiver)
How do you use Igo on Vista?

I'm not dissapointed at all I actually own a Kaiser. It was more or less a joke, badly brought, I agree
By the way, thank you people for posting about your successes, this means I'm doing something wrong. How hard can it be to pair a GPS and use it ?
I'm using MS Streets and Trips 2008 (North American equivalent to Autoroute) with a Holux GPSlim240 and it is working flawlessly. I can't remember much but didn't have any issues/quirks during set up. I've just used it a couple of times to test but not since, 'cause I have a 7in touchscreen built-in nav in my car that has traffic updates through Sirius sat radio here (no need for internet), but I still like the option of course
ah ha
finally found somebody has same problem with GPS receiver with Autoroute 2007.
but seems there isn't a clear solution for this issue.
seems like the Autoroute is the problem, i tried with GPS Viewer with Correct port it recognises the gps unit and correctly indicates cordinates.
if i can't find solution soon i will try to find another software as successful users found.
Im the starter of this post, here's the promised update !
Autoroute 2007 just WON'T work on the Shift. I tried a million different combinations of COM ports and security settings, no joy,
As soon as I try to use another GPS program like VisualGPS CE it will connect to the bluetooth receiver just fine.
My best bet is that Autoroute 2007 needs a GPS receiver that is Microsoft Compatible in contrast with the other 99% GPS programs
Will download a trial of Automapa EU now. THanks everyone.

I've got it working with the Bluetooth TomTom GPS receiver.
No problems with it.
could you share with us your port settings and , by any chance, does your GPS say it's 100% NMEA 2.0 compliant ?
a creensie of your BT Comport section would be nice

No, it means it is technically the same hardware (qualcomm msm7200) with different HTC PID, different aux devices, etc. So ROMs are *NOT* compatibles.
I found a problem on running Garmin Mobile XT 5.0.2 with Touch 3 G.
It does not show satellite signal at all but is able to navigate to destination.
Quite annoy on this. Anyone know how to fix it.
Use IGO2008, better navigation IMO And works very well on Jade.
I have the same "problem" with tomtom 7. Doesnt show data but works fine for navigating so i dont really care that much.
Have tried IGO 8 already. Feature is very good and better than Garmin but Thailand map for Garmin has more detail and POI.
I think this is a bug of GPS software (Tom Tom & Garmin ) with chipset Qualcomm. Not sure when HTC will launch the patch to fix this

How on earth did people got IGO8 working?, I tried it, but the program looks like its starting but then disappears without any trace.
TT7 also does not show the satgraphs, but without that it does works fine.
I have disabled aGPS btw.
Found the solution now.
Garmin Taiwan just launched GMXT V5.00.00 Asian Version.
Have tested with 3G and it work very well. Also you can modify to your local language (Asian only)

May be you have problems with licenses. Also, if you are using an unoriginal IGO, you have to disable the animations.
Hi Jankos, I also tried it with no luck (8.000 and 8.3.2.6). Can't it be a problem in the sys.txt or data.zip ?
Thanks

Just you need a different license.
Use the license file from 8.3.1 54384.
While installing the 8.3.2.64873, I resolved the issue by using above versions license file.

Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20W
Hi All,
I had Garmin Mobile XT 4.xx.xx work perfectly on my Touch 3g. But today, I have upgrade Garmin to 5.00.20w but it is not working. It could not detect my internal serial port (com 4). Inteads, it locks to GPS intermediate driver always. What could be the issue? Can anyone help? Thanks.

I Don't think so,because My SE.X1 runing window 6.5 too , but it can Down load the city map and run good with TOM TOM 7.7.9.10 Navigator
only X2 won't work,I fell so bad,can you tell me how to get the GAMIN.XT APP and North America MAP,and how to Install to X2,Thanks you very much.
Since you ask here and not at Tomtom service I take it you have your reasons.
I have tried to install Tomtom on my X2 without MR1 and MR2 without luck. My previous X1, no problem.
Have you had a look at gpsunderground.com?
I've bought and installed copilot ( http://www.alk.eu.com/ ) and it worked flawlessly at mr1. And it is really cheap but navigation is thereafter. I would barely recommend it, but the GPS connects nice.
If you have a look at supported devices at Tomtom you can clearly see that SE X2 isn't supported. If someone gets it running nicely at our X2 i wouldn't judge people who gets it at places as gpsunderground and similar - but hey, that's just me, it's Tomtoms loss and not ours.
You need "GPS Gate" to get TomTom working on the X2, this has been covered many, many, oh did I mention many? times.

I don’t use GPSGate and TomTom Ver 7.910 works on my X2.
On the X2 – go to Settings/System/External GPS and change GDP9 TO COM8.
Open TomTom and change the GPS Device from Built in GPS receiver to Other NMEA GPS receiver and select COM8.
Make sure you run FASTGPS and download the latest Sat Data.
Hope this helps
