Can anyone tell me what xml i edit to change the text color? Been trying to follow a few tutorials with no joy.
Thank you
Well it is very easy to change the text colour. There are two ways. One is easy and other is a bit tricky.if you dont have root access try adw launcher ex it makes changing text colour and size very easy and fun and it offers a lot of customizations.if you dont have adw launcher ex(paid app)inform me I will post a link for the same.Hope this helps.
Thank you for your help. I have been trying to mod it in the styles.xml, after i recompiled it, i just get stuck in boot screen.

Wonder if the problem is with APK manager
Related
Ok guys i've managed to successfully install the LiveWallpapers.apk from the NeXus dump and also the MagicSmokeWallpaper.apk on the G1 on android 2.1. problem is that I can't get the LiveWallpaperPicker.apk to install in order to use live wallpapers. reason being is because it isn't being deodexed properly.. I used the deo-all tool and it de-dexes the .apk but i see that it throws an error during the process and i can't find out what it is since the terminal quits to quickly for me to do so. i sign the .apk and install, but throws the error "dexopt". so my theory is its not properly being de-dexed.. once I get this solved i'll also have the new launcher2.apk, gallery3d.apk, and visualization wallpapers.apk able to be installed.
any help??
bump this get this poppin
I liked to see those apps working as well...
Major progress, so thanks to a cpl devs who helped out (miketaylor, djengizz) i've been able to install the livepaperpicker.apk and the prompt to use live wallpaper shows up now.
but it fc's. reason being is because for some odd reason when it gets deodexed the mainclass in the classes.dex gets deleted and so the activity can't be read and it isn't initialized by dalvik. all we would need is to be re-compile the classes.dex back with the mainclass and in theory it should work.. but that's where the problem lays. smali isn't being so nice and throws bunch of errors.
ive heard talk about these wallpapers. what exactly is so special about them?

From what i've seen they allow the wallpapers to be animated, so for example, you can have a wallpaper that has different weather effects, or a pic of the ocean moving etc.
I cant wait until this is working on the Manup 1.0.1 rom.
good luck guys, this would be amazing.
update: there's just 1 issue holding this back from happenning afaik, once we get this worked out it should be a go.

Thanks for your feedback
Hope you can tune the app soon!
Maybe something is wrong with the app that you been trying to deodex. Have you tryed downloading another nexus dump from a different source and deodexing those apps? Just a suggestion in case you didnt think about it just trying to help!
i am trying to install this on my droid with 2.1.
You need to move over some of the libraries from 2.1 or else it will not work.

ok like what libs??.. my main issue right now is when de-odexing the apk, it leaves out the mainclass activity, so it cannot be initialized by dalvik and throws a fc. I've got it installed however and attempts to intialize when prompted

Any Progress on this...ill be a beta tester if you need any
this is one of the coolest features of 2.1 to be honest...the eye candy factor is amazing. Seems like progress is being made though...you think it will be done soon? want it on my mt3g soon =D
guys, I have everything I need to get this working, it's just I still have the 1 problem that is totally hindering this. i'ved asked for help to somebody but they haven't responded back, although it's not something that me and djengizz haven't tried already. at this point, only hope we have is getting an un-odexed dump, OR jf updating the smali tools that are throwing the errors that we get. believe me, if u guys can't cait to have this, imagine how i feel having everything set and ready to go with only 1 thing holding it back, especially since I was basically the first 1 to start up on this mod before anyone else.
Sucks I cant do anything to help...im just sitting down while you do all the work so I can watch my wallpaper move
sounds like your really trying hope you get this out soon...you'll be my hero for sure.
basically, the main problem is in smali... I have all the smali files and try re-assembling but smali just throws loads of erros and doesn't make the classes.dex we need to get this up and running.

I dont know about the boot anim.... but to REDUCE the ammount of debugging info at boot simply add 'quiet' to the set cmd in your startup.txt
so for example it would look like set cmdline "lpj=638976 quiet".
sorry if this is something already known to you

What don't you like about the verbose boot? I love geeking out, watching the lines as it boots. Non-techie people think it is the matrix.

The quickest way would be to load up another clean version changing the original to froyo boot it up & go to astro copy the build from system to SD or to the froyo version & restart then delete new version and paste the build into the original froyo & reboot
so i got my froyostone back to working
have pulled the build.prop from my shubcraft build... and pushed it to the froyostone build!!
hopefully the trick will work without that problem on my hopefully soon arriving android tablet
Next time, try backing up the android folder on ur SD card before changing anything.. that way a quick format and a trip to ur computer will get ur phone working again..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Can you share this file here? i got the same problem that many applications can't work with full screen, and i didn't backup this file...
thx~
Sorry for my Englisch.
Problems with the screen in fullscreen games. It is easy to change it.
Open the file with a text editor Build.Prop and edit the line of "ro.sf.lcd_density = 220" to "ro.sf.lcd_density = 240"
Followed the instructions and did this mod.
I sorta of like it. Didn't encounter any problems at all. It's hard to tell the difference. Some apps will support it, Sense UI does not.
The bigger question is. Does this impact battery life. I am still testing this..so right now that's debatable.
I set dpi to 192 and love it. Most apps show more info on screen, a few games are not clever enough.
After using WinMo for 2 years, I'm used to high precision "touching" :-D
A tip: download Spare Parts and use it to turn off compatibility mode.
i just read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765639
will it work with our hd2

Not exactly.
The app works but doesn't really make any difference to build.prop file nor does reboot the device.
Your can manually make the changes.
I set it to 200 and I use adw launcher to make usage of the extra space.
Black screen from changing build.prop
So i really wish I found this thread before i tried to change anything. So i also have the black screen when loading android after changing build.prop file, I did copy the file before I changed it. Now i just dont know how to get into the system folder to change it back because when i load android its all black. Can anybody help me here?
Can someone tell me how you change CyanogenMod Settings on the settings menu? I've tried changing one of the XMLs but it doesn't work. The menu still appears but it's still CyanogenMod Settings and it crashes everytime I click it.
Any help is appreciated.
Can someone help me with this?
Logcat?

reboot into recovery and fix permissions, reboot and try it again.
Changing the xmls is only going to change the GUI part NOT what actually goes on when you click the button.. That is why it crashes.. Dont need a logcat for that.. lol In order to change the what settings are there you would have to compile the cyanogenMod settings tree from scratch and make your changes and put it in your own custom ROM or try pushing the effected files through adb..
a logcat helps point to what he should change in the source as well which is highly useful unless he is the creator of the cyanogenmod settings menu. (or just a simple tinkerer with minimal android knowledge)
Well I'm trying to read the logcat haha. Do you have any guides on how to compile it from scratch? btw the rom I'm using is compiled by myself using linux.
cyanogenmod's wiki has a good setup on how to do it. and yeah logcat should point you to what to change.

Do you mean "Building from source" ? I've already done that.
Hi there,
I am running this Rom and made my own bootanimation with photoshop.
It's 480x480, 72 dpi (I also tried different dpi values) and I tried it with color management (sRGB) and tried it without color management as well.
I put the bootanimation.zip into /system/media with ES Explorer. Until here everything works fine.
But when I reboot, instead of my animation, all I see is the logo.rle (which I customzed as well and works fine) for longer than usual and then a black screen until the boot is finished.
I attached my animation. Hopefully someone has a clue why it doesn't work.
Thank you in advance
Alright. I found the problem myself. -.-
Solution:
The images have to *.jpg's without color management.

Are you serious? i've been messing around with this and getting really frustrated...
Especially since the first part plays it's .png's, but then the screen goes black when the second part should start...
I'll try this later today, on an SGS2 with CM10/PA.
EDIT:
Nope, didn't solve it for me.
After a few tries with different file names for the images, only the first part would play, and all of a sudden all i had was a black screen...
Reinstall ROM...
