HTC and Sprint thanks rooting community

HTC and Sprint would like to thank the rooting community for testing our leaked rather given update hehe. We have learned our lesson from the last 1.47 update and the bricking of some of our devices. We decided to let you rebels take the chance and run our crappy rom. We are very pleased to take away your 4g tethering and that is working quite well. Our final release will out this week so enjoy and please for our sakes make it a better rom. All of us overpaid developers at HTC and Sprint are members of XDA and steal your ideas daily. This is why we will release the kernal quickly as we did with the earlier versions.

All these people know damn well that the leaked update isnt the final, YET they all update anyway, then come to XDA and cry about "oh my god my camera doesnt work", "oh my god, i think i bricked my phone", "oh my god my FPS is lost!", "oh my god my root is gone", "oh my god please XDA fix my phone, find a root quick!". No offense, but what a buncha retards.

Really? Wow. If it was the same one I saw, the person was actually saying that the stuff produced by the XDA devs was better than what Sprint released yesterday. And for saying that he's a retard? For saying the speed in CM6 was faster than the unofficial-official HTC version, he's an idiot?

I heard Koush is working it into ROM Manager Premium in the next update.

htc should hire these xda devs... and fire the one(s) who pushed the fps cap idea...

I like how he says, "...what the big announcement was all about...", implying there will not be an announcement now.

No offense meant, but all the secrecy going around this rumor is kinda building up a paper castle.
SamsungJohn works for Samsung, not Sprint. He can't offer us anything that affects Sprint (our contract holder) unless they've worked out a deal before-hand and, even then, Sprint would be the face of the offering. Why would Sprint's partner, Samsung, skip them completely and go directly to the customer? These aren't appliances.
I doubt they worked out a deal beforehand because the whole XDA debacle would have never happened. It would have been presented behind the scenes well before we ever caught wind of it.
So, yes, I'm curious, too, but don't get your hopes up too much. Remember, "HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT" doesn't mean the same thing to one person as it does the other. Expect crap but hope for diamonds and somewhere in between lies the truth.

Noobnl speaking makes me think a little bit. When he says "future is bright"....well I'm encouraged.
My first thought? Xda will act as samsungs beta grounds...which would mean full disclosure.
I'm imagining us receiving full device driver source code...
Think about...we could theoretically port every android update on our own. Which honestly would be nice, and really, a win-win for everybody..
Samsung wouldn't have to put in the man power or money to update our phones, and we would still have access to every current update...samsung would then have a bunch of happy customers without breaking a sweat...
Because I mean really, wouldn't we all be happier with the source code over an ota anyday?

Hearing this statement out of Noobnl is awesome news, maybe Samsung will eventually manage to redeem themselves after all. I have been hoping that they would get smart and figure it out, sounds like maybe just maybe they did. I'm cautiously optimistic but I want to believe we are in for some good things!

I have talked to him MSN Messenger and I can't say what the big announcement was because that would make too much sense and ruin the constant "wtf is going on?" aura that surrounds the Epic support from Samsung and Sprint, I can tell you that eventually something will happen.

Interesting visit to the sprint store

I brought my phone in so I can have a tec look at it. I have a dead pixel and a bad usb port. I get my replacement either monday or tuesday.
there was another guy there that dropped his phone off right before me. ( another epic ) and when we went up to the counter to grab are phones they told him to wait another 20 minutes that it wasn't done. He started flipping out and yelling at everyone. There was another guy on the phone with sprint cause they said the same thing about his evo. I got mine right away no additional wait.
The tech started to talk to me about root. I had the background from my theme on ( no root all stock ) he told me rooting my phone voids my warrantee. He then asked me about acs and the emotionless beast theme. I than counter attacked him about him having his phone rooted and then introduced my self as mysteryemotionz and the creator of the emotionless beast theme. He then treated me like a celebrity and called all the sprint employees to meet me.

Awesome. It was clear to me from visiting one or two of the better Sprint stores that some of the employees there are very much aware of what's up with phone modding. I think there is a healthy contingent in the entire Sprint company that has a fairly easygoing attitude to people who are familiar with what XDA does...they know we're good customers and powerful advocates for their business.

You ARE a celebrity. Haha but that's hilarious coming from the sprint people. Any special perks other than the recognition?

If you think 20 minutes is bad, you should see the store near me, if I have to go there then I need to make sure I have an ENTIRE AFTERNOON to waste.

Mystery, when I use to work on the HTC Vogue, the entire North Florida region Sprint stores and Radioshack used my ROM and treated me like royalty. It was amazing
Now I work for Sprint, not so special anymore

Here in Long Beach I "fix" some of the Sprint guys phones. When I go into the shop to see what's new we usually STS about rooting and romming on all the high end hardware. Haven't worked on the managers phone yet, but he seems pretty interested as well.

when I bought my Epic the cute salesgirl told me that she couldnt wait for her epic, and tried to hint to me about rooting, I told her I kinda knew what that was, but said 'isnt that against contract', and she basically said not really wink wink... then told me that the techs rooted all the employees phones... acting like she thought everyone did it. Pretty cool... other than one tech that store rocks...

When I got my epic I had him switch my TP2 to one of my other lines. I had a different ROM with the newer 6.5 task bar thing going on. He was shocked and kept playing with things... he didn't care what we had on it. He said if it didn't work he would just reload the phone.

Bought an Inspire 4G a few days ago and just sold my Epic today for $300. I figure I'm extremely lucky as someone who loves development and has seen it completely die out on the Epic. Farewell and hopefully everyone else can unload their's before it's too late. Goodbye whiny babies and attention-starved developers (the few that are left around here). It was (somewhat) fun while it lasted. Sorry that Samsung is only half as good at phones as it is at televisions.

I somewhat liked that phone too. No support = boring though. We have no decent developers left because the mods here and the ****ty phone owners have run them all off and Samsung's very poor customer support amount to ****. Time to move onto a more user/developer friendly machine. Sorry you're loyalty leaves you in the past.

There has been a whole bunch of new stuff over the past couple weeks, so I apparently am not seeing where the development has become dead.

I for one am really pumped about this forum. Thanks to everyone here I rooted my phone and flashed my first rom. Going to flash my first modem tonight. I think the developers are all quality too. I'm running SRF right now and find it to be nearly flawless. I'm new to all this, and maybe I'm wrong, but a few quality devs seems better to me, as a noob, than trying to weigh through a bunch of potentially crappy ROMs just because a phone is popular. I'm very pleased about my first experience with rooting, and will likely listen closely to the suggestions of people from this forum when its time for a new phone.

OP, In your good bye to us all you do is *****, moan and complain about the developers and Samsung. What did you add to the forum? What did you develop? What help did you provide to other users? Did you spend hours upon hours developing roms, mods, kernels and themes then providing then free of charge to ungrateful blood sucking users like yourself?

Its been a while I'll tell ya ;D through all the trolls, BS, bickering and fighting we've made great stride forward with our phones dispite everything. Btw, Thanks fot all ur contributions Rob, its developers like you that had such a great impact on this community. With official GB right around the corner, we know there's still some rough times, and really great, times ahead for this community still, and "hopefully" (but doubtedly) even some Sammiches in the later future :O
