Liberty 2.0 is now Released - Droid X General

It is available through the donate version of Liberty Toolbox on the market! Support your ROM developers, it's only $5. I am installing it now. I will report back with all the awesomeness that has been having people froth at the mouth lol. Nom nom nom
Liberty 2.0 will be released for the masses in a couple days on the forums. They are calling this some what of a beta stage. Either way, I don't think they would release something that would need to be tested for a beta stage for $5 LOL.
Remember, you have to SBF if you are on the Gingerbread leak. If you are not on the Gingerbread leak or any Gingerbread ROM, a simple whipe data/cache will work. This has been confirmed by the developers themselves.
Edit:
My Quadrant score is 1388 on clean installed Liberty 2.0 running 1.0Ghz. Overclocked to 1.2Ghz, which is what I normally run, it's 1629. AT 1.3Ghz, I get 1724.
Edit #2: Liberty 2.0.1 has been released and you can download 2.0 for free on droidforums. Also, in the Liberty Toolbox (donate version) Liberty Gingerbread is available for download!

So is 2.0 gingerbread or still froyo?

It is froyo

Has anyone else installed this yet? I want some others to wiegh in before I give my opinions about the ROM.

Yea, My first impression is that it's a lot like 1.5, in fact at a glance you can't tell the difference. I'm at work and have not got to play with it a lot yet though.

You will need to SBF back to Froyo 2.3.340 yes.
I am not yet impressed with 2.0. I mean, yes it's snappy and quick but I don't see what the hype was all about. It is stripped down and apps open quickly but, there isn't a whole lot of change from 1.5
I think this is the best it will get. Unless you theme 2.0 or any other Liberty version, it's plain as plain can be. If your looking for speed and willing to do a lot of the work your self as far as theming and improving the ui look, I was kinda of let down by 2.0. Everyone praises how great it is...am I missing something here, lol?

I liked 1.5, but it had a couple bugs. I am hoping those bugs will be gone completely in 2.0. I was also hoping 2.0 would bring something new and cool to the table, but I really don't see it. I tried a couple other roms, and I thought liberty was faster than any of the others I tried. To early to tell if the bugs are fixed in 2.0.
I am getting a force close when I try to open liberty settings in 2.0. Other than that no real negatives yet.

For anyone looking I just found the settings force close fix on twitter.
Force close in liberty settings fix: download toolbox > access liberty settings by pressing menu> settings in the toolbox.

Let me retract my previous statements lol. Battery life is amaaaazing so far! I themed 2.0 and man-o-man....2.0 is running quite fast! There isn't a single issue for me. I installed the two Liberty Tool Boxes from the Market and that stopped the FCs when opening the Liberty settings. Other then that, holly molly is alls I have to say!
This is now a true 5 star ROM, all the way! Loading this to me gf's DX!! Locked bootloaders are a thing of the past once you really get this ROM going.

This doesnt seem better than rubix? seems like it comes with more crap I dont need.

Liberty 2.0 is pure speed. It will need to be themed if you are looking for eye candy.

It's easy to remove the bloat from Liberty. Take the time to read the OP before you look a gift horse in the mouth. Jerk.

Help please! My Droid X got stock on the Liberty boot screen while flashing, I cannot go back to recovery. I tried holding camera, volume down & power and it still boots the liberty boot screen stays their, I tried power, home and search and nothing their either back to liberty symbol. Help please! All and every suggestion will be tried.

Were you running Froyo or Gingerbread? Did you wipe data/Cache before or after installing installing Liberty 2.0?
I used the wipe data/cache in the install que in the new Liberty Toolbox.

From what I can tell, the icons are all new. Although maps is older version and will get updated via Market and icon will be replaced back to normal. Other than that, not much difference.
It has the Google search app and the updated Voice Search.
Would love to know why there is a Twitter client in the gapps package.

[Q] Camera with Liberty

Ever since I downloaded the Liberty ROM i haven't been able to get my camera working. At first it worked but I didn't like the camera that came with the Liberty ROM. So I tried to install the Blur camera out of the Liberty toolbox but that didn't work, instead my camera stopped working all together and now I have nothing. Does anyone know what to do?
Did you do a backup before installing the new camera? If I was in the position that I did not backup hi would reinstall the Liberty right over top of itself. I just did exactly that because after testing out the themes my phone kinda went funky. I just reinstalled Liberty and it wiped out the themes. Thus, fixing my issue. Btw, JRummy and KeJar, props. Excellent build my friends.

Are u on the 2.3.15 update or 2.3.34 update? If on 3.15 it will not work due to incompatible library files. If you want to stay on the 3.15 update, let me know. I think I have the library files you need.

When, earlier, you said "Are u on the 2.3.15 update or 2.3.34 update?" Were you referring to Liberty or something else?
Oh wait, nvm - I just read your other post and figured out what you were talking about. So let me see if I'm understanding - even though there is an option to download/install the blur camera out of the Liberty toolbox it's not going to work b/c Liberty isn't a blur ROM?

ok, let me see if I can get you back on track =)
When I talk about the 2.3.15 vs 2.3.340 update, I am referring to the updates that Verizon has released for the Droid X. Unfortunately since you already have Liberty installed on your phone, there is not a super easy way to tell.
If you turn your phone off and then before turning it back on, hold down the "volume down + camera button + power button". Your screen will blink, then show a bootloader screen, and your bootloader version.
If it says 30.03, then you are most likely still on 2.3.15 update, and that is why you are experiencing camera problems (more than likely). If it says 30.04, then you should be up to date with the latest OTA from Verizon. If this is the case, I'm not sure why the camera is not working for you.
The blur camera works even though it is a blurless ROM. My guess would be (I haven't gotten very deep into Android dev work yet) is that the Blur camera is not dependent on other Blur .apk files or services. This would be why people have been able to add the blur camera back in...
Hope this helps.

I am having the same issue with the camera not working. When I open the camera app, it opens but when I take a picture the screen goes black and then the app crashes.

few thing you can try I had the same issue awhile back.
* Delete the camera in the SD > Liberty folder > download folder, on your SD card
*Delete camera in Settings> apps folder then reinstall the camera you want
If no luck ...

if you mean like Gingerbread mySense, i believe HTC/T-Mobile hasnt said anything. If you want gingerbread with regular Sense, a port if being worked on. If you want plain Google AOSP Gingerbread, try RoyalGinger, or CM7.
do u know will it be an OTA update for it?
Ya we will get it but that depends on HTC/TMo as they ha e to bolt it up with useless BS that none needs. This could be in months but why wait for that? We been had GB port in MT4G from months now? Look in to current CM7 project as we are using AOSP2.3.3 port now, mostly all use it.

First of all update your CWMR to 3.0.0.6 as in long run it will be better for you. Follow any of the single instruction bellow as Drew's is easiest which maybe better for you if it fails then try my is little complex but it will work.

Once you have done that now you are ready to download rom/gapp from the repository and flash it via recovery which you installed above.

NOTE: When you are downloading you can pick NB (Nightly Build) the higher the number the newest it is as you can see the date. Then download the GApp which is the Google Apps. If you don't know how to flash it once this is done post back ill give further instructions.

AOSP-Like Gingerbread Rom (D2/DX?)

Is there anything like Fission for the Droid 2 or Droid X available that's based on 2.3.3? AngDroid has disappeared and I haven't heard anything from Team Defuse regarding updates. Makes me regret donating. I'm seeing a few new Gingerbread roms popping up for both the Droid 2 and the Droid X but they've all got Blur included. Any suggestions?

[Q] Liberty 2.0.1 to GB or not to GB ; )

Hello all,
My first post here, I'm checking out friend's phones that have GB running and really like the way things look and feel. Also seems to have more options or functionality over 2.2... I was wondering what the most efficient way to go from Liberty 2.0.1 over to GB would be? I really haven't wanted to change form 2.0.1 since i've had it basically the speed and function is nice as is... Is there a good reason to go to GB from Liberty and and how? Appreciate the help!
Cheers

Well, I say you do yourself a favor and upgrade to rooted GB! If you like Liberty so much, you can buy the Liberty Toolbox and get the GB Liberty ROM (and support the dev at the same time), that way you can have both. The Liberty ROM is being updated regularly because technically it's not out of "nightly" status yet, but it is VERY stable and works great. The cleanest way in my opinion to get from where you are to rooted official GB, is to SBF back to stock froyo, and then use the 2 part GB install (I'll link instructions to both). Here's how to sbf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0jrXqqiepI. After you do that, follow these instructions using the files located here (use method two which is listed after the line that says "Patched update.zip (not signed)" in bold) http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...-5-596-release-thread-something-everyone.html. Once you are done with these steps, you can get the Liberty Toolbox and open it. Hit the "ROM Manager" tab, then "Nightlies" tab, and click on the latest Liberty Gingerbread rom (currently v0.8) and it will guide you from there. Enjoy!
Thanks!

Really appreciate the info! Super awesome I am gonna try doing it now- Thank you for the messages, hope your days are great and have a good weekend!

If your looking to get a lot of different options, go to cyanogenmod. The only thing not working on it is the camera and gps, but it is way worth it. just look up a video on youtube of cyanogenmod 7
CM7 is what I'm running and there are definitely more bugs than just the camera (which has a workaround) and the GPS (which there is a fix for); however, I'm still using it because even with all the issues, it's still rocking my world.
CM7 for the Droid X (CM4DX) can be found here:

@ Maltmix, you may just want to try both Liberty GB and CM4DX as it really all depends on user preference.
Thanks for the great links and advise everyone! In regards to SBF, I think I have everything set up I had downloaded the 2 part file for 2.3.340 installed RDSLite, and installed motorola DX drivers, but RDSLite won't see my X.. I noticed alot of folks were saying something similar, not sure what to do from here.. I want CM7 but want to wait till the bugs are more polished lol shiny bugs! ; )

I was able to find an alternative to RDSLite for you. The instructions indicate easy use... the definite plus side is that you can burn these ISO's or put them on a flash drive to SBF from any machine.

Gingerbread Camera
I have Rooted Gingerbread on my X now, went to the Liberty 0.8GB Nightly, and all was well.. I was prompted to update or modify if i wanted via Liberty, and did that, but upon recommended reboot, i got stuck in a bootloop..
Lots of time and patience later, somehow finally got into recovery and re-flashed GB..
Everything is back on my phone, but the stock camera isn't the updated one that froyo and GB have, it's somehow reverted to the earlier not so good camera..
I was wondering if there is a way to update the camera to the most current google camera?
Thank you guys and gals so much for the assistance, I hope to be able to help other people someday too!
Thanks LG! I should try cm7dx, too really like it then?
