[Q] Best WORKING 100 rom for Legend - Legend General

Hey,
after official froyo update there's not much to wait for on Legend - there wont be any official Gingerbread that's for sure. So I was wondering if theres any rom which is working flawlessly like official one (I mean that EVERY part of phone is working without problems - wifi, radio, 3g etc) which has newer features than Official Froyo?
bonus question: I want to change sd card for bigger and I was wondering if I can simply transfer all the data to pc and then back to the new card - will that work? - I would like to avoid installation of everything again..

You can safely transfer SD files back from a computer to the SD.

Like a PC when u reinstall an OS u will have to reinstall programs (apps)on your phone if u put a new Rom on it. I have re Romed my desire 6-7 times in the last 6 months its a pain having to D/L the apps again and install them but not realy a big deal, the best thing to do is download app packs of the net and store them in a folder on your SD card and access them from there for reinstalation rather than searching for them again on the app market.
Oxygen 2. RC7 Rom was the best and smoothest rom I found on the desire except the video cam didnt work which was going to be addressed on the next version RC8, not sure it will work on the legend but worth checking out, I have been running the latest REDUX Rom for the last month and that is pretty good as well

ok thanks

I can recommend Blayos B 0.7, working excellent for me.

I use cyanogenmod 7.0 RC4 at the moment.
For me the full hardware is working after the Update on the latest radio.
This means: 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM-Radio, Compass, G-Sensor, ...
Wait the time for the release of CM-7 and then give them a try.
You will be surprised how fast your Legend can be
---
By this way:
Thx to the devs for the great work!

Just use cyanogenmod, it is great

Either Blayo's or CM6 for Froyo.
As for your apps, just install Titanium Backup and backup all your apps. Then transfer those backup files to your pc and back to your new SD then restore. But IF I'm not mistaken, you can just simply move the app data around. If those apps are installed on your SD then it might not work.

ok guys thanks for answers

Hi,
Im currently running on CM7 Nightly Build 32. For me everything is working, only one thing is annoying, the USB transfer rate seems to be USB 1.1.
Data-Transfers are very slow, e.g. CM7 Rom file with 82 MB needs 15 minutes. I'm not sore if it is related to CM7 or Gingerbread Kernel.
Cheers,
Stolich

I would higly recommend the CM7 Nightlies, I have the 7. 08.35.21 radio and full hardware functions. U can clock it "safely" to 787 mhz, switch to ADWLauncher Pro and the phone feels like a Optimus 2X
Write 24 mbit/s
Read 75 mbit/s
its slow, but still usb 2.0, those speeds is probably because my sd card sucks.

[Q] Question about ASOP ROM

Sorry for asking such a question, it's hard for me to follow XDA, there lots of pages. So basically, I rooted my phone, JIT my phone (benchmark ~710) but I still feel that it's somehow lagging and I wan to make the best of it. I pondering whether to install 2.1 Custom ROM ASOP or Froyo 2.2.1 AOSP ROM.
I more into gaming, music, video, facebook etc so I don't think Froyo will be suitable for me since there's lot of bugs such as cannot install certain apk, no camera (don't know still got what). What about 2.1 ASOP? With it be better compared to now? And there's three version (full, light, ultralight). Which one should I install?
And is it replacing the original ROM or just another ROM (meaning I can switch back to the original ROM anytime).
FYI : I wish to keep chinesetextinput, JapaneseIME, PhoneBook, mediascape. I already using Launcher Pro Plus so I don't need the Launcher Pro launcher
Thanks in advance!
Don't install either of those roms time as they are not finished and can't really be used for everyday use .

sit tight mate, they (Jerpelea) is about to release v5 of his AOSP 2.1 ROM - and he says that the dialler is working.
also, thank you for not posting in the DEV thread!!! you have no idea how frustrating it is looking for bug reports in that thread now - i feel so sorry for J and Z
edit: just re-read your first post. Are you sure u need to keep mediascape? there are better alternatives that are provided in vanilla (AOSP) android, that do not get so intrusive in the system. The AOSP rom is a complete flash, so you have to choose to use it or something else.
The full, light and ultralight are NOT AOSP ROMS either so you know, they are customised SE roms that can be used with Zdzihu's recovery menu. These CAN be used with your existing ROM in a way, but you will need to juggle backups and image files. can be done, but takes about 10 minutes to change. Safe and works, but a little clunky
First of all, backup everything u want! Titanium backup ot even the .apk on ur SD or PC
I am running both...
2.1 custom AND 2.2 custom, i cant make any calls on 2.1 -> reboot to 2.2
Cant take pics from camera -> reboot to 2.1
...
It works fine for me
My quadrant results:
2.1 ~720
2.2 ~2200
Thx for posting a new thread and not spamming the dev thread...
Edit: yes, u can go back to original SE rom, just use the link for the .504 version in the first post of 2.1 custom rom thread

@mrtim123 : Thanks but can you futher explain what you mean recovery menu? So you meaning the ASOP will replace the current ROM while the customised SE roms can be use with the current ROM anytime?
From the custom ROM ASOP thread,
They stated:
Not working
-video playback is not using hardware decoder for some formats
-camera settings crashes
So the dailer is already working?
And will remove mediascape result in problems in the future? Heard from some thread that it will result in problems.
@PoTi_96 : It's kind of hazzle to change here change there. I prefer one ROM rather than 2.
I know but the dialer wasnt fixed, now im just running 2.1

I installed asop 2.1 ver b006 last night and now i have about 17 hours of usage. I belive that it is almost a rom for a dayly use. Bugs i experienced so far are camera settinhs giving FC, some minor problems with downloads on build in browser, all fixed with opera. It comes half rooted but can easy root with z4root app, i could not find the gallery but after instaling the app from this forum ( gallery 3d) i am more sattisfied then with mediascape timescape or any other SE program. I find it verry snappy and belive you should try it after a backup with titanium. Another beautifull app is the recovery.menu witch is the best. All the best

Pardon, I have no clue when coming to such things. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The recovery.menu is it a kind of application that help you flash your phone? So I have to keep pressing back when the Sony logo came out to go into recovery mode and install the ASOP ROM? And the Global ROM is to revert back? So I had to install both ROM?
However since stated that it's not possible to call people, how is it possible that the ASOP can be used for daily. I don't mind about the camera since I don't really use it.
P.S I already download the ASOP ROM for the main thread.

The recovery.menu is it a kind of application that help you flash your phone? YES, THOUGH NOT REALLY A FLASH DO NOT NEED PC
So I have to keep pressing back when the Sony logo came out to go into recovery mode ABOUT 5 TIMES
and install the ASOP ROM? YES, AS UPDATE.ZIP
And the Global ROM is to revert back? BACKUP FIRST
So I had to install both ROM? YES, NOW YOU CAN SWITCH BETWEEN
However since stated that it's not possible to call people, how is it possible that the ASOP can be used for daily. WORKS ON LATEST RELEASE
I don't mind about the camera since I don't really use it.

Thank you for your reply. One more question before I start on it. So when you say switch between, when I switch will it remain the same or it will be a completely fresh ROM?
For example I now using ASOP ROM and wan switch to the original ROM and if i decide to go back ASOP, will all settings be gone?

When you restore, you will get back state you were in at backup. Same settings, same apps.
So meaning, I can keep the setting of the current Sony ROM. So if i chage to ASOP and decide to change back I can have the same settings?
And if i decided not to use ASOP anymore, I can just delete both the original and ASOP ROM at my SD card?

If your wife's phone is rooted and you install this, you will lose root. If that's not a big deal, then go for it.
does the update delete everything on your phone?
if so, how do u backup/restore stuff? and how do you get the apps/games u purchased back without rebuying?
any other issues to know about? does the update reinstall att bloatware? do i have to put it back to stock to update?
i rooted to uninstall that stuff and to be able to install 3rd party apps, but never used a custom rom.
i'd really like to be able to use my 8gb sd card for apps since i have no space, so i am thinking of updating now and rooting later once it's available.

If you are already rooted, then you should seriously look at and consider Liberated Aria FR008. This ROM is based off the European Gratia complete with HTC Sense and does not have any AT&T bloatware, has an OC kernel and also used Dark Tremors Apps2SD which is much better than the native Froyo App2SD feature. If you like HTC Sense and want the Froyo 2.2 features, then this is the ROM to use.
If you choose to install the AT&T Froyo 2.2 update, it will wipe your phone clean and you will loose root and you will be stuck with all of the AT&T bloatware with no way to remove it.
For apps that you bought and paid for in the Market, these apps are tied to your gmail account, so if you reset your phone, you can reload the apps from the Market without any additional charges.

Yes, flashing a new ROM will usually delete anything currently on your phone. If you are rooted, You can use "My Backup Root" to save your apps and settings, text messages and phone log and then restore them after you flash a new ROM.
Here is the official thread about CM 7 RC1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956223
Here is where you can download CM 7 RC1 and the nightly updates. Starting with Nightly 11 the code base is now Android 2.3.3.

Yes, if you backup with myroot, you have to reinstall myroot from the Market and then you can restore the backup. Flashing a new ROM will not wipe anything on your SD card.
For contacts you can export them to your SD card or sync them with your Gmail account. If you export them to your SIM card, the CM 6/7 ROMs cannot read them off the SIM card.

CM 7 is based on Android Open Source Project code. It is almost as pure Android as you can get UI and interface wise. You can still customize the UI with widgets and such, especially if you buy some from the Market. So bottom line is with CM 7 you can customize the phone however you like.
HTC Sense is the UI that is built into the stock Aria and now the AT&T Froyo update. That UI uses special widgets developed by HTC to enhance the user experience and these widgets only run on an HTC Sense ROM. Will you miss Sense? It's hard to say. It's really a personal preference.

i dont think i'll miss it after reading some more on it.
so do i have to start off with the original update-cm-7.0.0-RC1-Liberty-signed.zip
then update to a nightly, or can i just start off with the most recent nightly? wasn't sure since they are about the same MB size.
also, what about this app2sd dark tremor thing. do i need that? why is it better than the regular app2sd?

You can just flash the latest CM 7 nightly, but you need to follow the installation steps listed in the CM 7 RC1 thread first (i.e. format system, format data, format cache, etc.).
DT Apps2SD isn't as big of deal if you are going to run CM 7 IMO. If you were going to use the Liberated FR008 Sense ROM I would recommend it because it does a better job than the Froyo 2.2 APP2SD.

Hi i am new here and to new to android . I want to flash my xperia x10 form the stock software to 2.2 or higher. I have read most of the guides and am still unsure which rom and baseband to use. I am running Ubuntu 10.

I would suggest Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3, it's fast and stable, and looks nice =)
It is also easy to install since it needs baseband .54, which you can get it from the .435 stock firmware directly.

i would have to agree that Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 would be the rom of choice. It is super stable and quite fast too.
You will need to root your phone, and then install xRecovery. Then you can install ROMS from the xRecovery menu.
Root using superoneclick and then copy the xRecovery APK to your phone and install it. Download the ROM files and copy them to your SD card, reboot into xRecovery and follow the ROM installation steps (backup all your stuff on your phone first - i suggest My Backup Root (from the market) - provided you have rooted it already). If you want to try different basebands, i have included a link for them too.
As for doing all this from ubuntu - i think you will need to be running a Windows VM or find another pc that has Windows installed, i tried from Ubuntu myself but it was just easier from a Winblows machine.

I'm also kind of a noob, but I really want to make this stuff work...
I took this thread as a base, I currently have the 2.1 official update on my X10. So far I used the superclick tool and it said it rooted my phone (how can I make sure it worked?)
Then I downloaded the stuff and run the xRecovery app, it said it granted some superuser thing, but then I see nothing else...
Any help appreciated, specially if I skipped some steps maybe?
if you want to check if you are rooted, intall titanium backup and see if the app runs. If it does, then you've got root.
I didnt get what you wanted to ask in the second part of your question though..
I was missing an app from the market
Ok I got it working
So far I'm testing this new stuff...woah, amazing.
Any recommendations of things (ROMs) I should try?
p.s. I got no signal and WiFi won't turn on... I guess this is normal?

Second that Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 is one of the most complete 2.2 roms. But you'll want to look up post on how to:
- root your phone
- install xRecovery (requires busybox), and how to use it
In case if you "brick" your phone or get stuck in a boot loop, look up for "flashtool".
Hope this helps.

How do you get it to the right setting? and someone told me it drains your battery. is this true?
Yes battery life isn't that great but acceptable for me.
~24 hours under medium usage
~12-15 hours under heavy use
You need to have your focus setting set to infinity to have better audio sync.
To be honest I don't think the camcorder is up to average user's standard, but camera works just fine.
Things I like from this rom are:
- improved performance (very few lags, things run much smoother than stock 2.1 especially when texting)
- android 2.2 apps & features (gmail 2.3, flash, JIT...)
- no random reboots
- the unlock slider does not lag after the screen is off for awhile
Known issues to my knowledge:
- incomplete camcorder
- no live wallpaper
In case you haven't noticed tho, devs here have figured out a way to bypass x10's bootloader. This will enable us to load custom kernels.
All the roms here before the breakthrough are only built on top of the stock 2.1 kernel. That's causing some limitations in developing custom roms (issues such as having a working driver for x10 camera)
So if u can wait for a bit I'm sure there will be better roms (with android 2.3) coming in the next couple months! And Sony has announced there will be official 2.3 upgrade coming possibly during this summer.
However I've been using wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 for over a month now, would really recommend it if ur not that into video recording lol

I don't know if this method will work for you or make your device unbootable (Use at your own risk)
First, Turn off your phone and then mount your sd card from your phone to a card reader connected to your PC.
Then go the Android folder in your sd card memory and back it up to your computer (to revert back to it if things went wrong)
Finally, replace the files called (zImage, initrd.gz) In the Android folder in your sdcard with same files names and types from any other Gingerbread SD build (my suggestion is that you try first with AmeriCanAndroid AOSP gingerbread build by downloading the whole build and get those files from it and use it on your build that you want to use on your phone).
Place the sdcard back to your phone and turn it on, and hopefully this method will fix your problem...
This method might work in theory but because the build and the kernel are not optimized for each other, Some functions will not work as they were used to be (Bluetooth, Wifi, Network signal, etc...) or Android go into boot loop or even not boot at all! so if you don't know how to do this or don't know how to revert back to your original build/kernel after a failed boot, then please don't risk it!.
Hey yugoport, can you now try the kernel from isaiah build in nexus hd2 and post the results?

_SD.Magldr__isaiah12345_v3.1_160 build is nice, everything is HD/zoomed out, would look nice on a tablet, hd2's screen just about makes it usuable, any smaller screen on the hd2 i would stick to _240 builds, i like fitting more things on one screen, i dislike the scrolling about crap all the time, if anyone loves scrolling and tabs all the time then get a iphone, WP7, blackberry or symbian that everything done is a screen/page change whilst blocking out the status/notifications bar, i prefer old versions of WM aka WM2003se all the way up to 6.5

The phone freezes...

Hello fellas,
The phone is HD2 EU.
I've been using stock wm6.5 for almost an year with no problems whatsoever. The only problem I had is when using iGO, the GPS occasionally starts losing signal for no apparent reason.
I tried numerous NAND roms. Android 2.3, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0. Ones using SD partion, ones without SD partition. With all roms I have the same problem. For some reason the phone freezes when using either data or gps. Not every time I use one of these, but sooner or latter there is freezeing when use them.
Did all flashes with task29 before and wipe/clear cash, new mdlgr and recovery every time... everything as it is supposed to be. Have the lattest stock radio on.
Tried wp7 too. It runs with no problems, no freezes, really nice and smooth.
Any suggestions what could be the reason for my trouble with the android roms? Any help is appreciated.
The only thing I can think of is possibly your radio. When you say the latest stock radio, what number is it? 2.15.xxx is recommended.
Could possibly be your system partition size as well.
Good luck I will be thinking.

Thanks for your input kylew1212. The radio is 2.15.50.14 . For every single rom, I used the recommended by the autor partition size.
Initially I thought it might be because of the SD card, but now I have [03.Feb.2012] (Android 4.0.3) ICS [ICS MOD 2 BETA 6.3] [CAM] [FB SYNC] [PAID APPS] on, running with no ext on the card and it still freezes when browsing and when "searching for gps signal".
Here and there I see discussions about the kernels. I don't understand, am I suppose to flash a kernel after flashing the rom, or there is one coming with the rom??!
I would expect that Tom to freeze, no offense to the developer. Its just so new and many bugs are still present.

The thing is, it is the same freeze with over 10 roms now, most of them from reputable chefs...
Another interesting thing is, that apart from the gps and data problem, most roms I tried ( the quoted above included) work pretty nice and smooth, no reboots, no freezes, decent battery life...
Could it be a MAGDLR ralated problem? Ive never tried a CLK...
Honestly I have no idea. Sorry :/
